Meh, simple pitas
Came in here for a quick snack before heading out. Their menu is huge and has so much to offer. I had the veggie pita and it was good, but simple. Friends had other kinds of pitas, there were no complaints but no big raves about it either. Fries were really crispy and delicious, be sure to add those.
First time going here and I thought it was great! Â The man that took my order was very friendly. Â Like other comments, menu is huge but I don't personally see that as a bad thing. Â I had the Combo beef and sausage hot sandwich (italian beef and italian sausage - can you say "delizioso"??) and it came with a side of fries, soup or something else (maybe salad - clearly it didn't interest me) and I went with the Tomato and Pasta shells soup. Â I ordered it to go but when it came out I decided I was hungry and wanted to eat it right there, which I'm very glad I did (a) because the sandwich was FANTASTIC and (b) because it's quite a juicy sandwich that would have turned the entire bun thingy into a soggy mess had I waited. Â Soup was not great - I'd definitely op for a different kind or try the fries (or 3rd side option) if I went back.
Moral of the story - sandwich was fantastic and if you get a juicy sandwich, eat it there to fully enjoy it!
Yuck... no... DISGUSTING! I can't believe I wasted my cheat day on this awful place!
I love Greek food, especially a nice Greek sandwich or Greek salad complete with Kalamata olives and feta! I went in and asked the man behind the counter (appeared to be the owner) if he could make me something similar to a Souvlaki sandwich. I should have walked out when he looked at me like I had 5 heads. What type of Greek or someone who specializes in Greek food are you?? You don't know what Souvlaki means? Bogus! He said he can make me a Greek sandwich and I agreed (couldn't deviate too far from a Souvlaki, right??). While I was waiting for it to cook, the owner continued to come out to the seating area and ask me to move twice... I don't know what this was about but terrible customer service. When I got the sandwich I decided to take it home.
When I got home I was super excited to dig in! I opened the brown bag only to find out that the "Greek" sandwich was wrapped in a Mexican tortilla. What kind of Greek sandwich is not made with a pita... THE NAME OF THE PLACE IS CALLED EAT-A-PITA! I was so upset. I ate the sandwich anyway, only to regret it hours later. The chicken was fatty, the lettuce and tomato was sparse, the onions were too powerful, and I could have gotten higher-quality feta a Whole Foods.
I guess the cheap price matches the cheap quality. It was truly a disappointing experience and I will never return!
Literally everything I've tried here has been good, and many things are great. Their 'crisper' sandwiches are basically paninis- grilled sandwiches, try the turkey club. Great. Everything is not perfect, but they have a HUGE menu to choose from. Â Ham + cheese- great. Sweet and sour stir-fry pita- great. The wraps are just as good and a little lighter, just don't have them with fries. I really look forward to trying new things here, and I can't say that about many places. The prices are very reasonable for the area. Soups are always good. I see people complaining about the veggie stuff- it's not a vegetarian place, it's much more of a meat-eater's place- so take that into consideration. I haven't had the gyros yet because I can get that at so many places, but I can't get the pita combos anywhere (sweet and sour- really? It sounds weird, but trust me it's very good). Umm, let's see, what's good: other than what I mentioned before, sweet potato fries; Malibu sandwich (ham and turkey); burgers; rib tips; meatloaf (especially if on special- $4). One thing- I don't get delivery from here although I could. I much prefer walking there and browsing the huge menu and seeing what strikes my fancy. Oh- and stay away from the counter/display case if you like dessert, you'll go crazy. If you just *have* to have that slice of cake, they can fulfill your fantasy. Or brownie. Or cheesecake. (P.S.: they have TV on, you can usually watch whatever game is on. Â Good if you're by yourself.)
Review Source:I stopped by because I was hungry and it was on the way to my destination. Â The sign for fried sweet corn tots drew me in. Â The menu was had a lot of stuff on it. It seemed like it was a greasy spoon or diner joint. Â The fried sweet corn tots were delicious and so far this is the only place in the city that I have seen something like this. Â As for other menu items, I cannot speak for them. Â This place is definitely worth the perusal for their unique menu items like the fried sweet corn tots. Â Again, where else can you get them for $3.99?
Review Source:The menu here is insane. They must have 50 things you can get - and all at reasonable prices.
I've eaten here a few times this summer and I have yet to be disappointed. The outdoor deck is really cool as well. It is comfortable and offers a view of the nut jobs walking up and down belmont and halsted.
The gyro plate offers large and delicious portions so I highly recommend it.
Also, I am impressed with the cleanliness of this place (in particular the bathroom). So impressed that I felt the need to mention it on yelp!
This place continues to disappoint when it comes to customer service. Â I have had repeated orders arrive incorrect. Â WHen I called to order today, I specifically asked them to repeat my order to me to ensure its accuracy. Â I got attitude for it. Â As much as I like the food here, I think I may stop ordering from them. Â Not a pleasant experience or how I want to use my dollar as a vote of "liking" a place.
Review Source:Every time Eat-a-Pita drops a blob of sour cream and calls it "tzatziki," somewhere a little pita ball cries.
They say you get what you pay for, but at plenty of nearby joints you'll get better food and pay the same as Eat-a-Pita. Â This is cheap fast-food with an unusual twist. Â I've never seen such a big selection of Asian stir-fries paired with french fries - or any selection, for that matter.
The veggie platter is minimal but decent. Â The hummus is good but the falafel is undercooked and dry, especially compared to the number of superior $5 falafels available within a mile's radius. Â
I appreciate the abundant seating, the free wi-fi, the fast service and consistently nice attitudes of the staff. Â Just don't try to deceive me with your condiments...
THE EMPLOYEE BECAME VIOLENT WITH US FOR WANTING A REFUND AFTER WE FOUND HAIR TWICE IN OUR FOOD!!
heres the whole story:
so we walked in here and ordered our food. once the food came, i found a hair in the sauce so i went back and got another one. as i was cutting through my pita, i saw ANOTHER HAIR! so i went back up to the register to let them know, and asked for another one.
as i went back to the table, my boyfriend wanted to leave so he just said to get a refund and go somewhere else to eat (his portobello sandwhich was watery and tasted bad). so he went up to the register to ask for a refund for MY pita only-- not his sandwhich which he didnt even finish! he told the cashier that he was disgusted about the hair and just wanted a refund so we can leave.
the employee  at the register copped an attitude and said "MAYBE i'll give you a refund" and proceeded to call my boyfriend names like "bitch" and "scum" and told him to get out and never come back.  like what?!?! what kind of restaurant allows their employee to speak that way to a customer?! if theres hair in the food, how can one argue about getting a refund?
of course we weren't about to let a little gangbanger try to talk s*%t to us so we made it clear that he was actually the "scum" for treating customers that way.
after more words were exchanged between the employee- we can call him Little Sergio- and my boyfriend, we tried to leave. as we were leaving, Little Sergio started flashing his lame tattoos and threw the rest of the sandwich at my boyfriend! and then he came out with a broom to hit my boyfriend who then chased him down. Little Sergio never stood a chance! he came at us with a broom and then ran away! it was unbelievable and totally unacceptable!...
ALL BECAUSE WE WANTED A REFUND! and the guy who seemed to be the manager just stood there looking like a deer in headlights and did NOTHING to restrain his crazy employee...they're lucky that we didn't make a police report!
NEVER AGAIN!
I had sometime to kill before seeing the Blue Man Group (again) so I decided to grab a quick meal at Eat-A-Pita.
This converted restaurant from a house has the lofty feeling with the exposed bricks and heating/AC ducts which is cool. Â Even though the restaurant was busy, it was not extremely loud.
You walk up to the counter to place your order. Â When I started placing my order with the order taker, he decided to take another order with a guest over the phone to he is trying to take two orders at the same time with a lot of could you repeat that. Â I had ordered the Cheeseburger meal.
I was able to find a table. Â Within a reasonable amount of time. Â Received the order. Â Nothing memorable - better than a McDonald's burger.
I will not be in a huge rush to return to this restaurant since there are so many other restaurants in this area.
I went to middle school around the corner fom this place so I've probably been going there for abut 16 years. I remember when they used to be in the basement of the Marshall's building across the street.
I think it's two brothers that own this place. They are some of the sweetest guys. Their menu has expanded quite a bit which is nice, but if my mother and I end up here we'll find ourselves ordering the perch dinner and me the ravioli. You get a ton of food for the price (which is pretty great).
When I was younger and in the hospital I couldn't eat anything, but their soup. It's some of the best stuff out there. I love their rice pilaf (it's loaded with lots of veggies) and you can't go wrong with a stuffed pita of any combination or burger.
They have a covered outdoor seating area which is somewhat new (built within the last 2-3 years).
Their food just hits the spot.
I used to love eat-a-pita. I swear I've been ordereing from there for 10+ years.
Sadly, this place seems to keep going dowhill. They've gotten three of mylast three orders wrong - either a delivery mix-up or just made it wrong.
They keep trying to make the menu biger and bigger and bigger when they should just go back to what they do well.
Plus, I wish they used GrubHub for online ordering.
I've passed by this place so many times before, but never stepped foot inside. Today, I thought I'd give it a try. There were several signs outside that highlighted their specials. The vegetarian platter special caught my eye. For 5.45 (tax included) you get 2 dolmades, 2 falafel, a side salad, hummus and tzatziki sauce with pita. Sounds like a ton, and it was filling yet on the healthier side (been cutting back on the grease).
I've tried dolmade before I think maybe once. The grape leaves were sour and tart as expected, but I like that. The filling was creamy and didn't really resemble rice to me, but eh it was good. The falafel was crunchy on the outside but a little dry on the inside, so I dipped it in some of the tzatziki. Taste-wise, it was good, but just a tad dry. The tzatziki was good, but just too much for me. A little dab on the piping hot pita and a little on the falafel sufficed. Now, the hummus was probably the best part. Chunky and light in flavor, the hummus balanced out the acidity and saltiness of the dolmades and side salad. I skipped the kalamata olive because there was enough saltiness from the feta, dressing and dolmade.
Overall, it was good. Cheap eats, more than enough seating, chill atmosphere, and pretty clean. That's good enough in my book for a lunch spot!
Oh my goodness.. I cannot believe I have lived here 6 months and never knew about this place. To my good friend, thank you for our introduction to a future long-term relationship.
I got the Veggie Plate Special - pita bread, hummus, yogurt, salad, falafel's, and stuffed grape leaves for the low-low-price of $5.45 including tax. It was delicious, filling, and then some. These were the best stuffed grape leaves I have had in quite some time. The gentleman was so nice at answering all of my questions and then we started talking about soup. He left my friend and I try the creamy tomato basil soup, such a winner! Â I tried my friend's plain fries and they were fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and try the greek feta and tomato fries. Actually, there is a ton of things I cannot wait to try.
Now my favorite thing is that you can get a frequent club card, decorate your card, and leave it at the restaurant on the cork board. I hate I cannot remember the person's name, but he said so many people leave it, that they started the board so people can just pull it off the wall get a stamp and put it back! Genius I say.
I am reserving the 5th star for my return visit. If they can deliver consistently, check, check, check!
So I was dropping the husband off at work and had a car full of kids and the dog so my lunch time options were limited.  I asked husband what he was going to eat at work and  the words "eat a pita" were spoken and I was like, "Get me my chicken!"  SO he placed the order and ran in to get it for me.  Left him and work and I drove down to the lake for a sort of picnic.  I put the food on the passenger seat and shared with toddler and dog while twins slept. Â
It was delicious. Â I can honestly say that my chicken was perfect. Â Eyes roll back in the head good. Â The dog was disappointed that it was so good because it meant I was a bit stingy with my sharing. Â My son loves garlic bread and if he could talk I think he would have given it a good rating. Â Creamy broccoli soup was also tastyand didn't congeal like some soups do if you wait a bit to eat them. Â That one order of half grecian chicken with garlic bread, soup and fries was enough for 1 adult, 1 picky toddler and 1 not at all picky dog. Â There is even a nice size piece of bread and meat left for my son's lunch tomorrow. Â Can't go wrong with that.
Dear Eat a Pita,
Where should I begin...
Our relationship started so long ago. Â We met through a friend and things only blossomed from there. I have experimented with everything from rib tips to burgers and stir fry to soups. You never let me down. The soup has cured me when I was sick. The rib tips fixed my hankering for BBQ. The cheese fries can cure any hangover. Oh, your cheese cubes....squishy, cheesy fried goodness of love. The assorted veggie sampler can cure scurvy. They are fried to perfection and the dipping sauce goes perfectly! With the cute tattoo'd guy at the counter you keep me coming back!
--They also have an array of desserts but I have yet to try them.
With love,
A
Delivery is speedy and friendly
Prices are great!
Man I miss this place. I used to work across the street and come here for most lunch or dinner breaks.
The prices are phenomenal, when comparing to prices elsewhere in the city and even the country.
They offer a lot of pita sandwiches as well as fried foods, but I came here for the falafel and soups. The falafel's spices were perfectly blended and the sauce that came with it (cucumber I believe) was a perfect compliment. This thing was almost always falling apart, which is a good thing! You get your money's worth for the big pitas here.
I think it was 3 dollars for the falafel pita. In fact I know it's like that because they don't accept cards on orders under 5 dollars. So I usually had to get a cup of fruit or a drink to get my total over 5 bucks! Try getting that in Baltimore!
The service is quick. The inside is your standard eat and run kind of place. There are a lot of shops around this area so it's great for a lot of the surrounding business employees to run over and grab something quickly.
Miss you.
This place is pretty bomb! They have a huge selection of what seems like Americanized Mediterranean foods. From burgers, gyros, Italian beefs, to homemade meatloaf and fries.
The service is excellent and the people are friendly. I've made it a point to try something new every time I come here.
After I walked in to Eat-A-Pita, I have no idea what possessed me to order food. Â I just did not like anything about this place. Â The menu is ridiculously huge, but I felt like everything that I could order would be covered in grease. Â I chose to go with the Cajun Chicken Pita, which was very plain and unappetizing. Â The fries were OK, but nothing special. Â
Sure, the food is cheap, but quality...ehhhh.
Pass.
This is the worst restaurant for middle eastern food! I was here last week and I ordered spinach pie (spinakopita) that was good but my daughter ordered soup and a veggie pita. The soup was like water and not good at all. I asked for the Tzatziki sauce and omg! I was shocked! it tasted like Mayonnaise and horrible.
I would never go here again! I should have gone to Sindbad's their food is awesome!
This place has wanna be middle eastern food! lol.
While doing some serious drinking this past Friday night at a friend's apt in Lakeview, me and some peeps got quite hungry. We were wondering where we could get some quick delivery and one person stood up and yelled Eat-A Pita!!!!
Checked the menu out (they had a copy in their place) and she told me the California Pita was the way to go. The California Pita includes turkey, swiss cheese and avocado. Pretty f'in good. Delivery didn't take long at all...I would say we waited 25 mins, but we were sort of close. The show stealer was the Greek Feta Fries (well worth the $3). These were some of the best "cheese fries" I ever had. Definitely soaked up all of the Jim Beam I had downed. Unhealthy goodness!!!
Will def make a stop here to have those fries again
You know the saying "when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me?" Well that's kind of how I felt assuming a place called Eat a Pita would churn out some decent Mediterranean food.
In search of a quick bite in the area, I popped into EaP on a whim. Overwhelmed by the large menu, I was glad that they had some targeted wipe boards including one with vegetarian favorites.
I'm not sure if I was unable or just unwilling to see the signs that ordering the falafel might be a mistake. First, per the menu it comes with a side of tzatziki. Sure it's a common topping on gyros, but on falafel not so much. Then when I asked if I could get some sriracha on the side I was told my spicy sauce choices were buffalo or cajun sauce.
My meal (sandwich and an order of cheese fries for good measure) came out quickly and was delivered to my table. I wasn't crazy about the falafel and fries being in the same paper basket because there was cheese sauce all over one side of my pita which made for messy eating. I opted for the buffalo sauce for $.50 extra, it only took a taste to know that it wouldn't be making it anywhere near my falafel. Instead I located a bottle of Trappey's Louisiana Hot Sauce. Marketing this sauce, straight from Jersey, as hot sauce should be illegal; I've tasted spicier ketchup.
I only ate about half of my falafel before abandoning it for the fries. The sandwich wasn't bad; served with hummus, lettuce and tomato, it was just average. The veggies were fresh, but I found the falafel bland and mushy. The cheese fries were average as well.
Service was friendly and the place was clean, but based on my meal I don't have any plans to return.
A strong 4-star rating on the falafel sandwich, coming in at around $4...
Falafel rating: Good. A little hard on the outside, but nothing a dousing of extra tahini couldn't take care of...and there was a lot to go 'round. Served piping hot...and, well...in-a-pita. High marks!
A very casual take-out/delivery/cafe type place with about a million diner-type sandwiches plastered all over the walls with photos in case you weren't getting the drift. My recommendation? Stick with the classics. Veer too far off the eaten path at these types of places, and you'll be stuck like Samantha L with a soggy open-face Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich. Tried and true: burgers, gyros, falafel, hot dogs, you get the gist. Stay the course!
Fountain Coke products in addition to many bottled varieties. Full array of free newspapers in the vestibule, and strangely...it looks as if they have constructed a weatherproof army/marine/barracks facade to shield from the cold/snow. If you walk/drive/visit, you'll see what I mean. Ain't no drafts up in heeeeeere. I enjoyed a nice 10-15 minute break from the world.
Falafel reigns supreme, this places does well in a pinch...and is very cheap.
Not for the faint of heart (literally and figuratively speaking). The food is inexpensive, I'll give it that, but my sandwich had so much mayo I had to scrape off 80% of it.
Also, hope you have some time on your hands because last time I ordered delivery, I waited two hours (I was quoted one hour). GrubHub was nice enough to issue a credit of $10... normally wouldn't be a big deal, but I had plans and needed to get out the door! By the time I received my sandwich, it was limp and lifeless. No heartbeat!
I went out on a limb and tried their hummus for the first time too. Not sure if it's homemade or not, but it wasn't very flavorful.
This is fast food so you can't expect too much, I suppose. Then again, I can get a fresh, tasty torta, burger or burrito in my neighborhood for $6 if I skip the delivery and walk a few blocks!
I've been here three times. Count as 3.5
Once, I got the buffalo chicken wrap special that was pretty delish. They have so many specials, every day for really great cheap prices. They also have a cake slice/dessert fridge which temps me every time I go in there! So far, I haven't broken down... I also got a chicken pita wrap that was pretty decent, and cheap more importantly.
But...I went in here the other day to get a falafel pita on special for $3.96 which included 3 falafels and tzasiki sauce on the side, mmm!
Well, it wasn't the best. The falafels were dry, and fell apartreally quickly, it was strange. They weren't greasy which was nice, but still, the consistency was odd. They were big balls, who thought I'd be complaining?
The service there is great, I just wish the falafels were better. I am down to try to gyros or chicken gyros there too, as well as the carrot cake some day.
Sorely disappointed. I should have known the Southside is better known for their pitas, gyros, etc, not yuppie Northside-duh!
I can only speak for the pitas, the food came out fresh so I do give them that, but wow it was so small! I was expecting something bigger, like the ones I would get in Greektown,Bridgeport, etc. The place was clean and not your typical gritty gyros joint but I should have known it was too good to be true. Oh well, you learn.
I got a Cuban sandwich here a couple months ago, and it was tasty, though didn't compare to 90 Miles Cuban Cafe.
However, I am now eating an open face turkey sandwich, which is like Thanksgiving in a sandwich (turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce...), which seems good in theory. However, this one sucks. It seems like all the ingredients are super cheap, and I do not understand why the gravy is yellow. If you want a GOOD open face turkey sandwich, get the Macy's Parade from New York Deli.
I don't even want to eat much of this food, which is sad, cause I was hungry, and I always love eating! : /
I'm giving Eat a Pita the full fiver because of five different reasons.
1) They specify what's vegetarian on the menu
2) Falafel is made to order and still hot when it's served to you
3) Tziki sauce (or however you spell that)...omg. omgomg noms...They give it to you in a little plastic cup, I'd say about 2-3 tablespoons worth. No one should eat that much creamy stuff in one sitting but it sure is easy to do.
4) The menu is HUGE. There's something for everyone.
5) The people working there are so nice. When I was there last, there was a huge family enjoying dinner. Turns out it was the family of the people who own the place, since a couple of them kept getting up and grabbing food from the kitchen. It reminded me of my family, and made me feel at home.
And now for an inside look at my endocrine system:
Hormones: Stacey, it's about that time of the month. Â Wouldn't it be a great idea to have a meal full of sodium goodness (but not so much that you can taste all the salt) complimented by a sweet creamy dessert?
Stacey: WHY YES HOMONES! Â THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT AND I WANT IT NOW!!! (evidently I scream whenever premenstrual).
Hormones: Â I suggest eat-a-pita. Â I know, we always go there for such cravings, but really is there anywhere better?
Stacey: NO!! THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE THAT DELIVERS, IS CHEAP, AND WILL SATISFY MY CRAVING (also, I am too lazy to move during this time)
Hormones: Â Then eat-a-pita it is. Â You look tired, why don't you let me call?
Stacey: Â (smiles lovingly at hormones)
end scene.
Anyway, I usually get a chicken avacado pita with swiss cheese and a PB milkshake. It is SOOOO good and makes me feel like all is right with the world for a few minutes (yeah, that's all the time it takes me to scarf that thing down). Â The milkshakes really are excellent. Â Especially the peanutbutter one:)
Men, I think you'll like eat-a-pita too (i don't want you to feel left out)
March 2009: Â I am craving a falafel sandwich before attending a party in the neighborhood. Â I stop in here, peruse the menu...start to furrow my brow...scour that menu for the word "falafel" with no results. Â What? No falafel? Â With a name like Eat-A-Pita? Â That's what I really wanted, but after the guy spent a full minute selling me on their specialties (stir-fry pitas and "crispers") I felt obligated to stay. Â The menu is large and confusing but I ended up with the cajun-style chicken stir-fry pita with rice, and it was decent. Â Seemed generously portioned too for $6.
August 2009: Â I come in here for a milkshake while walking home from lunch...falafel is still nowhere on the menu, but there it is on the specials board! Â What the hell?! Â Anyway, I may or may not come back for the falafel, but their other food is nothing special. Â
The chocolate malt was very close to greatness. Â Perfect thickness, very good malt flavor, but slightly too light on the chocolate flavor. Â With another squirt of syrup, this could have been a top-three malt.
Oh, and they have rice pudding! Â It's about a B. Â The flavor is good, right balance of sweetness and riceness, with cinnamon but no raisins. Â This stuff must be intended to be eaten cold because room-temperature or warm, it is runny.
I've been eating it (sparingly) for 10 years. I now weight 600 pounds.
seriously, it's a great bacon egg sandwich, turkey reuben, regular reuben, and if you live in or near lakeview, I swear it's delivered in 20 minutes! One time I called and placed an order. I then called back 5 minutes later to add to the order, and it was out the door! They came over twice and got me my food for the family.
Love those guys. It is freaky when the guy who is usually telling you the soup specials on the recording actually answers. You have to wait a few seconds to see it its a real person.
EEEEEEEAt A Pita on Halsted... A must for the shut-in or agorraphobic.
After a trip to the airport with an ill puppy in the car, laziness crept in quickly. Â I wanted something different than more normal delivery fare so we decided to go the pita direction!
First off, love the online ordering. Â Being someone that has to be on a phone dealing with people all day at work, this works perfectly! Â Plus, there's less chance that they'll screw up your order! Â The only issue here is that you couldn't enter in your credit card info, they called about 5 minutes later for that. Â
We had the stir-fry pitas in steak and chicken. Â And then an odd side order of cheese cubes that I just had to try! Â The pitas were fantastic tasting, although falling apart and we were unable to pick them up since they were soggy when we got them. Â A minus in ordering anything for delivery! Â But the insides were so good! Â Great sweet and sour sauce on the chicken pita also. Â And those cheese cubes were fantastic! Â Dipped in some ranch, scrumptious! Â
The delivery was right on time - as in by the minute! Â After walking past Eat-A-Pita so many times in our neighborhood, who knew this place had such good offerings? Â I can't wait to try one of their many crispers! Â It was hard to make a decision when a menu is that enormous! Â We're still talking about this place today, which means it must have been good and memorable! Â Makes me want to be lazy and order delivery more often!
[WARNING: CHARGES A SURCHARGE OF $.50 FOR CREDIT CARDS!]
I have loved this place forever. The delivery is always fast, and the food is good (if you're into this type of food), and I liked what they did with the inside decor (repainted and table cloths), but something has made me sour.
Recently, I went to the restaurant (have not been in a while, nor ordered on phone) and was told point-blank after I placed the order and gave them my credit card that there was a $.50 charge for credit cards.
I told them "No Thanks" and walked away.
If the price of doing business taking credit cards is hurting your business, then stop taking them. Sparta Gyros on Broadway/Belmont doesn't take cards and they are STILL in business).
Sadly, they are off my menu counter as of this posting.
NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Please review your rules on accepting credit cards from Visa. You CANNOT charge a surcharge. I'd be more than happy to show.
The ultimate dive food experience, they have seriously almost anything you can think of on the menu. Yes it is dive food but what is strange is that it is good on so many different levels.
Let's go with the obvious first, great drunk food!!
Good food on the go for a snack or to fill your belly.
Fast (mostly) when you are starving and will eat anything at that point, also cooked when ordered so it's hot!!
Good at any time of the day.
Yes the floors are sticky along with everything else in there including the cooks but the food is good!!! It's cheap and it's always good for people watching. Man, now I want a chicken sandwich.
WAIT.... there is ice cream there?!?!?! WHERE!?!?
Good freakin' God Almighty. Â I haven't written a review on Eat-A-Mutha-Frickin-Pita yet? Â Oh pickles!
Well, this was pretty much my mainstain during some rough patches where I was attached to my computer ala "The Net." Â The have NO MINIMUM DELIVERY AMOUNT, so I could order a delicious Toasted Crisper & Barq's Root Beer & have it delivered to me within moments.
It was a godsend.
I've since turned on various friends to this extravaganza of delivery deliciousness. Â In fact, the ex-roommate & the ex-boyfriend are frequent patrons ... going so far as to be on a quite friendly basis with the delivery drivers (not THAT friendly, this isn't Penthouse forum I'm penning here). Â To the point where, at one point, the driver told me, "Your friend just ordered. Â I just came from there. Â Bacon cheeseburger with avocado, right?" Â That's my old roomie!
They are consistent, they are tasty, they are super-friendly, they are cheap. Â PLUS you can order online now (may have a order minimum for online, I'm not 100%).
It's not Charlie Trotter's level of food, but it's fast, it's convenient, it's friendly service, & it's good to fill a hungry belly!
What a find! I ordered a Chicken Breast Stir Fry Pita and was very pleased. They actually gave me a few more veggies than I had anticipated, but it was tasty none-the-less. It's a very clean, comfortable atmosphere. Not a long wait.
I will say it seemed a little out of place to have the action movie "Broken Arrow" playing on the TV. But I look forward to trying out a few more meals there!
If you're in the area, why not drop on in for a quick bite? Â They've a good sized selection with various cold, toasted, and stir fry pita stuffs not to mention sandwiches for all types of hungry hounds.
For about $6, I got myself a nice soft'n'chewy pita topped with loads of cajun flavored stir fry with a heap of fries. Â There was so much filling that I only saw small remnants of what looked like a pita underneath a massive pile of stir fry. Â After I got it down to the right height (about 1/2 of the filling) for normal human consumption, I was worried that the pita would have become too soggy sitting in the tasty cajun juices. Â Lo and behold! Â The pita withstood the spicy onslaught still ever so gently cradling my leftover stir fry!
Kudos to you Eat-A-Pita. Â I Ate-Ya-Pita and I'll-Be-Back-...?A?.
Maybe I should have taken it as a sign when a ladder was blocking the door and I had to call to the man behind the counter to see if they were open. No one else was eating inside.
Unfortunately they were, and my boyfriend and I were hungry. I had the Grecian pita which had a generous amount of chicken and two pieces of tomato, no cucumber (maybe they forgot??) and tons of feta (the only plus). The cucumber sauce was bland. My boyfriend had the teriyaki stir fry pita which was unfortunately drown in liquid -not sauce-- liquid. It was soggy by the time it reached our table. The fries (comes with every pita) were the crinkle fries from a bag that were so popular in the 80's.
The man behind the counter was nice, but his suggestions (see my review above of the two pitas he suggested) sucked.
Not going back.
