My husband and I have been ordering the "Howdy Special" with no meat for over twenty years. It's a special treat for us. The atmosphere in the bar is cozy and comfortable. There's always sports playing on the TVs. A Patsy Cline soundtrack would go perfectly with this place. Beer tastes better in the big, fish bowl glasses called schooners. The pizzas are "old school." The crust, sauce and toppings are consistently good, but nothing fancy. A meal here is satisfying and you leave feeling happily full. If you want a no nonsense, traditional pizza and beer, this is a good place to try.

Only second time I have been here and its pretty good. Pizza is above average, salad also very good. Ice cold beer served in a schooner which is sweet! Great place to hang out with friends!

This may sound crazy but my favorite thing to order here are their cheeseburgers.  Now it's been awhile, however, just thinking about them makes my mouth water.  Yummy!  I MUST go back soon!!  The pizza I always remember as good too but there's a place I like more close by.

The pizza is very good, the service is a bit slow but if you want a fake pizza go somewhere else.  The Howdy pizza is my favorite.  My only suggestion would be to use fresh mushroom over the canned ones, but not a deal breaker in my book.

    I will be back.

Another "really wanted to like it" dissapointment in Denver. I'm not even sure why I'm giving it 2 stars - maybe because the staff is friendly. Otherwise a dismal waste of time. Pizza is dry, boring and bland. Clientele looks as confused as I am as to why it's so popular. I just don't get it.

I've enjoyed Edgewater for many years and, for the most part, it has remained consistant and good.  I stick to the Howdy and the Sweetness out of habit.  Can't go wrong as long as the chef cooks it long enough.

I shoulda done this a while back shortly after I came, but I'm barely getting into the "reviews thing", so now I'm finally here to rant.

First off, I used to LOVE Edgewater Inn. When I lived in Denver a couple years back, this was the spot to go. It was soooo delicious. I drove the 20-25 mins to just pick it up or to dine in. It's worth it when the pizza is THAT good.

Now? It freakin' SUCKS. The waitress wasn't even friendly AT ALL. The only time she smiled is when she gave us the check. The pizza? At 1 point, I thought "is this the same place, what happened to the pizza!?" It used to be sooooo good...now it's just...mediocre. My parents, who used to eat these used-to-be pizza goods were wondering, "what happened to the chefs? This shit sucks." Excuse their language, but I pretty much said the same.

My regret? Is not complaining afterwards. I'm a girl that wants what she paid for & I regret not making a complaint. If anything, I just won't go here anymore & I'll just write a review to NOT recommend this place.

This was our first time.  There are only two reasons I'm not giving it five stars.
    1. The red pizza sauce didn't have much flavor and tasted like something out of a can.
    2. The decor was pretty dreadful.

However, the BBQ chicken pizza was fantastic, the crust was great overall, and there was lots of cheese on all the pizza.  We will be back for sure!

Haven't been here since I was a kid. Pizza is still amazing! Only one issue my husband and i faced on a Sunday evening a few weeks ago,was our bar keep unfortunately. Slightly rude and pushy but had beautiful tatoos I remember commenting.  Had a hard time getting refills while waiting for our food. Also was MIA, seemed to be more intrested in what was going on in the kitchen rather then refill my husbands soda. We will be back but wont sit at the bar again.

This place has been around for a long time.  Went with friends and I even drank beer.  We had a meat pizza and a white pizza.  Salads and a soup with spinach.  The salad consisted of lots of lettuce and it was ok.  The pizzas were good but I have had better but the whole experience was fun and I would certainly go there again.

Thy had a sign up for help and my friends daughter went the next day and got the job.  So for sure I will go back.  I loved Edgewater and want to explore this fun neighborhood in the day.  I loved the sign on our way out. Wish I could remember what it said.  Dang!

My group use to go fancy and now we are on the search for dives, diners, burgers,  and joints.  Any great suggestions always welcome.

The only reason why we came to this place was because we were in the neighborhood and my 2 friends absolutely love this place. We ordered the Howdy Special which has Sausage, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Black Olives, Jalapenos, and Special House Seasoning but replaced the jalapenos with anchovies.

The pizza sauce is bland. The whole pizza was bland. If it weren't for the anchovies, I wouldn't be able to taste anything. The edge of the crust to the sauce and toppings was about 2 inches. The green AND red bell peppers were really soggy as if they sauteed them beforehand. The sausage had no flavor what-so-ever!

This is the worst service I have ever had. First we were seated with no menu then I asked it it was coke or Pepsi. They did coke, it's Pepsi. Then we ordered a dr pepper and the waitress walked past our table 6 or 7 times and never took away the Pepsi. We ordered a salad which so far hasn't shown up. The waitress seems extremely bored or pissed off. Or both. And she is just standing around talking to the bartender. Horrible. We also ordered garlic bread that we never got.

Divey bar, hard pizza, soft beer.

I love local dives and this is a total dive. The guy sitting next to me at the bar ate half a pizza. He boxed up the other half to take home and other random guy says, shouldn't you go home and take that pizza to your wife? Without taking his eyes off the tv, between sips of beer, he says, "nope, she'll be okay"; takes another 20 to polish off the schooner and leaves. Grizzled old guy, thanks for the ha ha.

The crusty crust causes my gums to molt. Now I either have peridontal disease or this is some aggressive crust. Considering I have only had one cavity in my life, I'm guessing it's the crust. I'll try the calzone next time, they probably can't cook that to cardboard.

Fortunately I had like, three schooners of beers so that numbed the pain a bit.

Love this place. Good beer and great pizza. The atmosphere has a great "dive bar" feel. Love that. Feels like home in the place- not stuffy.
Yes, canned mushrooms on the Howdy pizza. Don't seem to mind it though. Wish they were fresh but it won't stop us from ordering.
Pizza is a great alternative to our #1 Ernie's Pizza.
More neighborhood feel at Edgewater Inn. That is a plus.

I think I missed the boat on this one.  ...or the time machine.

They use canned mushrooms.  Which I don't have a problem with, I was just sort of taken aback.  I sent my sister a message about the mushrooms on the pizza.  Her reply:

"Where?  Even Pizza Hut uses fresh."

Speaking of Pizza Hut.  It's been a while for me but I am thinking Edgewater Inn's crust is akin to PH's "pan" crust, only not greasy and delightfully yeasty tasting.  Crunchy exterior, warm and chewy interior.

I also ordered a side of sauce.  It was tangy, and tasted like it was probably from a can (which if the mushrooms are any indication...).

When The Dude and I first walked in, everyone at the bar (and a few patrons in the booths) all turned and looked in unison.  Kind of eery, or maybe just funny like a movie scene ("ya'all aren't from around here, are yuh?").  The service was sufficient.  I am pretty certain from looking around this place has a regular "regulars" base established.  Still, we didn't feel unwelcome by any mean.

I liked the red hue and Beach Boys music; it added to the "back in time" feeling I got from this place.  However, trippy time warp feeling or not, it was not enough for me to make a return trip any time soon.  The regulars can have their canned mushrooms.  I'll grab a take-n-bake from down the street, or head further out of the 'hood to get some 'za more my style.

If you're looking for the classic New York pizza, Chicago style pie, or one of those wood-fired Neopolitans then the Edgewater Inn is probably not for you.  There's a bunch of other spots around town for that itch.  This is a fun, dive-type bar with their own style of pizza.  Kind of like those stories where a scientist discovers a a group of people living completely off the grid that does things their own way, after damn near 60 years of evolving their pizza to fit the tastes of their mostly blue collar patrons you get what you have now.  A unique pizza that usually hits it's mark, especially on those "grab some beers and get some good grub" occasions.

This weekend a friend and I hit the bar for a drink and got a pizza to go, we were not disappointed.   Yes, the Guinness was out of a can but they poured it into a schooner and all was well.

The salads are decent, and I've helped take down a tower of onion rings that were above average.  They have a few other apps, sandwiches, and something they call a canoli that would appear to be a stromboli.  The main attraction is the pizza - and beer.  My usual order is the Sweetness, a combo of pepperoni, sausge, hamburger, black olives (which I say hold 'em) and American cheese - which I have to say adds a level of creaminess that is surprisingly good.  Also, as an added bonus they tilt towards the east when it comes to the choice of sausage.  Sliced links, which usually have a much better flavor than the pre-cooked chunks of questionable content that is found at most other pizza joints.  I've also enjoyed the Chicken Pesto, Howdy Special, and BBQ Chicken combos.

Good location, easy parking, reasonably priced, and schooners of beer all add up to a fun way to spend some time with friends!

Love, love, love Edgewater's pizza. It's true, the service is sometimes spotty and there is often a crowd, but to me it's totally worth it.

Favorite by far is the Sweetness sans black olives. It has an amazing flavor that is robust but not overpowering. It has American and mozzarella cheeses and the combo makes for a very creamy texture that you don't find on a lot of pizzas. Crust? Yum.

Coming in a close second is the Big Easy - exceptionally yummy.
They have a pretty great house salad - the Paisano - big enough to share and features pepperoni, olives, mozzarella and peppers and lots of other good stuff - also highly recommended.
And as other posters have mentioned, the Moscow Mules are indeed something to experience.

Yes it's small. Yes it's often crowded. Yes the service can be slow. But whether I pick up or dine in, I have never been disappointed in the pizza at the Edgewater Inn.

P.S. every time I've gone the veggies are totally fresh - they DO use canned mushrooms though (God only knows why) so I'd recommend skipping them.

Been here three times now, in the three weeks we've lived in the neighborhood! Yes, the place is small, there's usually a wait, and the service isn't the best EVER. BUt the food is great, the drinks are generous and the prices are very, very reasonable. Went with the husband last night and we each got a Calzone (Which I highly recommend. WOnderful, hot and huge. We both brought leftovers home for dinner tonight), he had 2 beers and I had 3 mixed drinks, for about $40.
I've only had their fries, onion rings, pizza and calzone. The fries where meh (frozen) but everything else was awesome. If you're in the neighborhood and want a yummy, affordable place to eat, definitely give this a try.

We visited Edgewater Inn a few weeks ago with our 4 month old and a couple of good friends. EI has been on my radar for quite awhile after I  had heard that they have really good pizza in an old school atmosphere.  I have been looking forward to this for a couple of years.

You know what?  It's A-OK!  Good, solid pizza.  Not the best I've ever had, and nowhere near the worst I've ever had. Plenty of toppings, solid and tasty crust, and plenty of cheese. The pizza we had was topped with sausage and mushrooms (we built our own) and was served hot out of the oven.  Personally, I'm not a huge fan of slices of sausage on my pizza - I prefer the clumps (but not rabbit pellets: gross!) - but this sausage was pretty good even though it was sliced.  We also had the cheese garlic bread, which was also very good.

The atmosphere inside EI is also pleasing.  It reminds me of the days long before granite counter tops and oversized everything.  It probably feels cramped to a lot of people, but to me it feels cozy.  The booths, tables, hell, everything is pretty old, but it gives the bar/restaurant character.  I like character.

It won't be a regular stop for me, but it will be a stop.

I got some spaghetti to go.  The spaghetti was cooked right, the sauce was typical, but wait.  The meatball?  Was still raw in the middle!  Ick!

The place was packed, some families had four people crammed in a booth plus two people just standing at the end of the table - umm is that allowed?  It makes for a disheveled look, and a crammed restaurant.  The to-go window is all the way in the back, kind of confusing but I figured it out.  For what it's worth, I'd rather drive a few blocks out of my way for Pasquini's.

The pizza is delicious. That said, something in the white sauce made me quite sick, which I can't say was their fault or my stomach.

The service is good, but not great and the value is questionable.

The reason for the 3 stars is the wait time. I've been twice and both times I waited a good hour or more for the meal. This is tough when you are talking about a lunch hour grab.

    Food for thought...

I don't get it.   You get a giant schooner of beer that you either A) have to drink fast so that it doesn't get warm by the time to get to the bottom or B) pretend you're in Jolly Olde England and that the beer is supposed to be room temperature as it takes a while to finish a beverage of this size.  Actually, I suppose its a good thing that they set you up with a beverage that will last 40 minutes, as that is how long the pizza will take (at least) and your server will likely not check on you in the meantime.

As with many of the pizza joints in Denver (including Bonnie Brae Tavern), the sweetness of the crust is a big turn off to this Jersey Girl.

The place always seems packed though, so someone must be drinking the Kool Aid.  Its just not me.

I've heard about it for years.  I never made it there.  We finally decided to take the plunge.  Honestly, it wasn't good enough to make me want to come back.  I'm glad I came and tried it, but I honestly think there are many places that have better pizza.

It wasn't busy when we went there.  We promptly got our schooners of beer.  Now, I love me some schooners of beer.  When we found out that's what they served, I was pumped.  Unfortunately, that was the best part of the experience.

We ordered our pizza, expecting it to take 20-30 minutes like it does at most places.  We waited over 45 minutes for it to arrive.  At one point, I honestly did not think our server had remembered to put the order in.  After about 40 minutes, she came to let us know that it was coming, which I appreciated, but it took a REALLY long time (especially considering the fact that they were NOT busy at all).  When it did arrive, it was piping hot out of the oven.  We got like 4 toppings, two of them being meatball and sausage.  I LOVED that they used sliced link sausage on the pizza instead of crumbled, but that was the biggest positive about the pizza.  The meatballs were flavorless, and it was pretty light on the sauce.  The crust was fairly good, but overall, the pizza was overwhelmingly average.  There was just no "wow" factor.

Like I said, I'm glad I came to try it.  It has a lot of history, and the atmosphere is really cool.  However, the pizza was just not good enough to hook me in for another visit.

On a whim last night we decided to head out of the city to grab some eats.  I had heard good things about the Edgewater Inn and this was my first time dining here.  I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem just west of downtown Denver:

Atmosphere: only a 5 minute drive west of Denver and you'll run into the small town of Edgewater.  I honestly felt like I traveled to a town of 500 people going out to Edgewater.  We ate out in their main dining room, there was no hostess so we seated ourselves.  The decor was basic, though there were some LCD TV's to watch the Rockies game while we ate.  It was comforting looking around the room to see lots of smiling faces and plenty of locals that were surely regulars to the Inn.  All in all a very welcoming environment.

Experience: It was refreshing to only drive 5 minutes and find this gem.  The wait staff was great and quickly served us our drinks and apps.  The service was quick and our waitress was pleasant.

The Food: The Edgewater Inn come to find out is known for their pizza so we most certainly had to try it out.  Before having our pepperoni, green pepper, and mushroom pizza we did have a small app.  Our app was their cheesy garlic bread and it was nothing special, but it satisfied our growing hunger from errands all day in the city.

The pizza at the Inn is all cooked in their brick oven.  I am originally from the east coast and everyone in Denver knows that good pizza is hard to come by in these parts.  The Inn changed that for me last night.  The foundation to a great pizza is great dough and equally great crust.  Their pizza did just that.  I'm fairly certain that the crust was polished with both butter and salt to give a crispy salty taste.  The cheese also seemed to be a combo of mozzarella and ricotta which made for a superior pie.

Conclusion: I would highly recommend the Edgewater Inn to anyone looking for some great pizza and a pleasant environment.  It truly is an escape to a small town just 5 minutes from Denver.  I will be going back again soon.

Specials: from 12-4 most days they have $1 Coors drafts and $1.50 Blue Moon drafts...a great deal for all those day drinkers out there.

I like the atmosphere here, it's blue collar and has a good "outdoor" seating area for big groups.  The beers come in big schooner glasses, can't beat that!  The pizza is...... good.

I have heard that it's the best pizza in Denver, of which I would not agree.  I'm from Chicago, what can I say, I have high standards.  The meat pizza is kinda gross with the meat selections they choose and the veggie style is kinda bland.  The barbecue chicken pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza are where it's at.  The pieces of chicken could be a bit smaller, but overall I've found that those two pizzas are the only two worth trying.

They're not open on Monday's and there is a big parking lot across the street for additional parking.  They've got a good reputation so be prepared to wait on the weekends. If you live in the area, order take out!

A coworker and I stopped in today for lunch. We'd had an underwhelming experience here last year but thought we'd give it another try (since it was the only restaurant open on that street). Unfortunately, we won't be back.

First of all, it took around 40 minutes from when we ordered to get our food. I get it, real food takes time to make, blah blah. But when we're the only people in the restaurant, 40 minutes is a bit extreme. Especially considering that a table came in after us (20 minutes after us!) and were served their pizza before us. Maybe they called ahead or something, but we were not happy. Our server was attentive while we were waiting but never gave us any explanation as to what was taking so long.

Secondly, the pizza needs salt. We had a white pizza and a combo pizza of some kind, and even when the pizza was covered in sausage, it still needed salt. The sauce had no flavor, the cheese had no flavor, the crust had no flavor. I did detect a little bit of olive oil flavor in the crust, but it came and went pretty fast.

Third, they use canned mushrooms on their pizzas!!!! I wasn't sure before but my friend confirmed this. SLIMY and gross, especially for a place that's known to have the best pizza in town.

As a positive, they did LOAD on the toppings. Again, though, they were flavorless toppings, so really what's the point?? (Except for the Italian sausage, which was fantastic!)

A restaurant is nothing without great food, and I'm sorry to say, Edgewater Inn, you do not have great food.

    Two Words: Stay Away. :(

It pains me to say this about such a long standing Edgewater tradition, but the "Inn" as its simply called is in another one of its cyclical funks.  And a deep one at that.  Several years ago this place, fresh off a new patio and new windows inside was hitting some high marks with its classic and long standing recipes dating all the way back to the owners mother.  The pizzas were rocking, the staff happy and vibe lively.

Wow how things have tumbled.  It seems the deep rooted family recipes and ingredients have made way for pure Sysco cafeteria like tastes and all the joy is gone out of this once fabled establishment.

The last two times I've had a pie there, including once their famous Piasono pizza, the pizza was hardly recognizable and honestly tasted like something from the frozen food section.  What happened!?  It tastes to me like they are trying to cut every possible corner and you just can't mask the flavor of someone cutting corners where it counts most.

The sauce was bland, easy to forget; the toppings had not a hint of freshness to them, and my request for 'extra cripsy' or well down was just plain ignored.
The other recent time even a plane peperoni was easily outdone by any pizza in your local King Soopers.  The Inn's pies used to be something to crave - but now, everything tastes like there is no more love or joy put in the ingredients.

The staff seems to be doing the best with what they have - but unlike years ago, there just seems to be no joy coming from anywhere here - especially in the food department.

Flat screens are nice inside, and it the vibe can stil be at times a bit charming - but with so many options popping up around Edgewater, I'd say explore something else while the Inn gets its act back together.

They recently started a lunch buffet for all you can eat pizza and salad on weekdays during lunch and if you want the exact taste of your high school - hit this.  Pizzas come out slow as you can imagine, sit under heart lamps for most the time, have no body and are soggy as all get out.  The salad is brown and wilted.  Its a rough go.

Bring back the old recipes and love!

And I forgot to add - any holiday at ALL in the weak you are planning to go? Better call ahead.  They close for four days at a time often on basically every holiday weekend, large or small - heck they are even closed on Super Bowl Sunday!

Oh - and their website doesn't work

Too bad the love is so plainly missing from this once proud establishment.

I heart this place! This hidden gem serves great pizza in a fabulous dive bar setting. The walls are decked out in local memorabilia in this neighborhood hot spot.

The pizza crust is thick, but the perfect consistency. They have lots of signature pizzas to fit every persons palette, or if you want to be creative, you can build your own. They do not skimp on the toppings!

Their marinara sauce is a little sweet. And on some of their pizzas, they squirt a little on top for some added color. The first pizza we got was squirted and I thought it was ketchup because of the consistency! I assure you, it is not ketchup... But I must admit it freaked me out a little initially.

Be sure to order an extra large domestic cheap beer. They serve them in these huge glasses that closely resemble a fish bowl. My skinny arms had trouble picking it up! So perhaps you'll want to ask for a straw. ;)

    Definitely worth a visit!

Umm YUM! When you're in the mood for sitting down and eating a rockin' pizza, Edgewater Inn is the place to go. I'm a fan of cheese and veggie style but my boyfriend was in the mood for a hefty pie. We got the biggest size pizza with three types of cheeses, black olives, ground beef, pepperoni and sausage on eight large slices. Oh man - I will never forget that sausage...

Besides great pizza it's also a cool date place, with killer oldies playing in the background, 50s and 60s style. We also noticed that it's a great place to take someone if you don't want to be seen. (We witnessed a blind date gone stumbling drunk...it was amazing.)

I guess it's a little pricey for pizza but when you see the toppings, you understand why. The beers were a deal - $3.75 for an enormous Blue Moon.

The service was good around 8:00pm, I can imagine this place gets busy around peak hours. Love it..I can't stop thinking about the sausage and I want to get a calzone stuffed with it.

After experiencing New York pizza, I didn't expect to be the least bit impressed by the pizza at Edgewater Inn. I was pleasantly surprised.

I can't comment on aspects such as service since I didn't go to the restaurant itself (my mom brought some home with her from work -- she did mention that the pizza took a long time to come out), but the pizza itself was quite tasty.

This pizza has a relatively thick crust, unlike the pizzas you get in New York. While I don't think this was the best aspect of the pizza, it certainly wasn't bad. The pizza didn't have a lot of sauce on it, so the toppings were what made it really tasty. The sausage tasted fresh and especially good, as if they sliced up an actual sausage and used it as a topping -- what a concept! The amount of toppings gave this pizza some bulk, so it was filling, too.

Judging by the food alone, this place is solid.

I first walked into the banquet room, not realizing.  people were looking at me, so I said, "so I just go in here and make myself comfortable?"
a nice girl with a Miller Light bottle said, "yea, come on in!  you want a beer?", and gave me a beer.
= man, this place is great! =
"do you have whisky?", (I don't usually drink beer).
"huh - you're getting started early, aren't you?", she replies.

turns out it WAS the banquet room and I walked into a celebration of life for Ron, who just passed away.  I don't know Ron; it was a private party.

I found the entrance on the corner.  man, what a great place; I was so comfortable here.  Guiness and a Jameson's, neat.  my buddy had a ginormous bowl of Coors draught and a Glenlivet with a few rocks.
Howdy pizza and mozz stix.  I ended up only eating one slice - the toppings were generous, to say the least, and the pie was great!
Kelly, our bar tender was pleasant, attentive, and charming.

I've spoken to natives in the area (the few that remain), and they all rave about this place.  but only when I've brought it up.
I'm so glad I finally made it; I'll be back again for the calzones.

    Pretty damn good!

I had the white 'za with toasted pine nuts, roma tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. I don't do red sauce (EVER), so it's always good to find a pizza joint that offers a decent caucasian option! This one was tasty... very heavy on the garlic, very light on the artichoke hearts (not sure there were any, actually). But the addition of pine nuts was a stroke of brilliance! Definitely the high point of the 'za, right there. And really, who needs artichoke hearts anyhow?

The crust is thinnish, but not crackery: a nice middle ground. And they're not shy with the cheese in this joint... at least not on the white 'za! My arteries are hardening as we speak.

Service is nothing to write home about. Our waitress seemed a bit flustered, and brought us four sides of ranch dressing when only one was asked for. "This way you can each have your own," she volunteered. Okay, fine. But kind of weird when we got the tab and noticed that each side of ranch cost us fifty cents! No biggie, though... since my kiddo decided he wanted to take a splashy, ranchy bath in one of those little ramekins. Yeah... don't worry. I cleaned it all up. I'm good like that.

This good, but not great.  No love letter will be sent, and their pizza will not make an appearance in my head as I'm running like a hamster on my treadmill.

The dough had a nice consistency: not too thick (for a medium crust), not crispy but not chewy..so props on that.  The cheese was spread over the pizza like the blanket your grandma knitted with all the holes.  Sorry but I like gooey cheese not "this is the last bit so stretch it out" storyline.  The sauce: OK.  Better than Papa johns but reminded me of condensed tomato soup.  I no want soup I wants pizza!

I'll go somewhere else, especially since this is not in my neck of the woods.

When I moved to Edgewater 4 years ago, this was the first and only Edgewater business that I heard about from friends and family.  It's an entrenched landmark in the Denver area and probably the one reason most people I meet know that Edgewater isn't a city somewhere on the Western Slope.

Needless to say, once my wife and I were settled in our new house, we jogged on over to try it out.  After we finished up and left, I got the feeling that I was missing something that everyone else was seeing.

See, it's not that the bar isn't fast and fully stocked.  And the decor, though dive-ish, is entirely appropriate for the location.  It's that everything is just very so-so.

At the risk of being greeted some random afternoon by a gent who is intent on busting some kneecaps, I would say that Edgewater Inn's one weakness is actually it's pizza (and other food).  I consider myself a bit of a pizza nut, though perhaps my tendencies run counter to the mainstream, and I found Edgewater Inn's lacking.  I haven't been able to understand why it's so revered for it's pies.

The crust consistency was decent and the sauce more than tolerable, but the toppings were awful.  The cheese has always tasted off to me dough is a bit soft for the crunchy bottom.  Other menu options are fine for general fare (well, perhaps the spicy ravioli is a bit underwelming, especially at nearly $1 per ravioli), but nothing stands out.

The schooners are a nice, unique touch.  22 oz. (I believe) of beer in a glass heavy enough to be used as a medieval mace.  The liquor selection, though not broad, covers all the bases.  Drink prices are spot-on for what I'd expect from a place like this too.

Service has been touch and go.  It seems like they're understaffed sometimes, resulting in long waits, but the servers are always very nice.

Overall (as you can see) I'd give it a 3.  When other places are crowded or just to far away to bother with, I'd head here.  Otherwise, I can usually find a reason not to go.

Why do I go to the Edgewater Inn?

For the Howdy Paisano and red beer schooners. An Edgewater landmark. Booths are premium during busy times.

What makes the Edgewater Inn special?

    - Good pizza, especially for Denver.
    - Schooners of beer.
    - Some crazy drink made with ginger beer that you drink out of a copper cup which I forget the name of.
    - The fact that they are horribly mistaken by calling their calzones "cannolis," but will fight you tooth and nail about it if you bring it up to them.
    - It's what a neighborhood bar is really all about.
    - It's good for people watching, in the sense that you will be under the impression that you are, by far, the most sane person in the joint.

    You gotta love this place.

Very tiny interior and street parking make the place initially unattractive. The big-ass 'barrel' beer glasses guarantee you won't be tossing them back with gusto. Bluemoon on tap is decent, don't remember if Pabst was an option.

The white pizza is the one to get; it's amazingly good and thin so you can eat a whole one yourself, tubby.

If they were closer to downtown this place would be amazingly popular.
