I hope you don't head to Sugarfire and mistakenly walk into the place next door. Â It will make you sad. Generic bar and grill meh-ness. Â You can almost guess the menu before you walk in. Â burgers, club, wrap, pizza, zzzzzzz
The server was nice and did a fine job, but this place needs a cook who knows how to, maybe, use a salt shaker. Â We had a club sandwich, buffalo wrap and kid's chicken bites. Â For a side we had the onion rings, which were actually pretty good, although they were undeseasoned. Â The club was a tumbling mess and the wrap was small and although it looked like it had some buffalo seasoning, I couldn't tase it. Â The chicken bites were not seasoned and were way overcooked. Â
Just very disappointing and in need of an overhaul. Â The waitress said they were in the process of changing the menu, so there may be hope. Â Still, if the chef can't fry chicken, they might need some new people to go with the new menu. Â
Might have been one star except the servers were nice and hustled. Â Applebee's would be a better bet, sorry.
I did not enjoy my first visit to Fallon's and perhaps it was starting off in a hole as I wanted to go next door to Sugarfire..but OMG do NOT try to go there at lunch on a Friday!!
So..Fallon's..wwaitress came right over for a drink order..awesome and we were ready to order when waitress returned..and then disappeared for 15 minutes..??
My soup, Guinness Stew, Â was delicious and i was eagerly awaiting my pulled pork..and waiting..I know you are busy but...and waiting..
Finally came (semi pulled..kinda chunky) and i had to scarf it down to get to back to work. Â sooo in summary..
Service was so-so. Food was not great..and the un expected upcharges on Sweet Potato fries (not told they were $2 more) and mayonnaise ($0.50) add to bad vibe.
But if you are in neighborhood give them a shot..looked like a great spot for football!!
I've eaten here a few times and think it's a solid go-to place for a pub style meal and atmosphere. The last few times I've been there I just went to the bar and ordered carry out. They actually turn out a carry out order pretty quickly.
I think there menu selection is just ok. I usually have a hard time picking something that sounds just exactly what I'm in the mood for. That said, they do have quite a variety so most people will probably find plenty to chose from.
My favorite is something I've never seen on any other menu - a smoked salmon BTL. Wow. This is a GREAT sandwich. It has the lox style salmon, not cooked fish. It's served on toast, the way an old fashioned club was served (but isn't a triple decker).
And for those who like trivia, they seem to always be getting ready to start trivia at the bar when I go in.
This was my second visit to Fallon's. Â My wife and I visited once a couple years ago and generally wasn't impressed with what we received.
I returned today because a group was going from the office and mentioned that they had a vegan burger. Â As a vegan, "burgers' are a hit and miss proposition with mostly miss results, especially if they are attempting to have the burger taste, well, burgery.
In this one case, I was blown away. Â If Fallon's makes their own, they have figured out the alchemist's dilemma and turned vegetables into gold! Â (lead into gold for those otherwise confused with my liberal adaptation of the reference).
They've matched a burger very closely in taste, texture, and even aroma. Â Sure, maybe not meat juices dripping down the chin, but that is the annoying part anyway. Â While I can't say for sure, I'm pretty certain my kaiser bun was toasted on their flattop and buttered. Â Next time, I'll be specific to ensure their vegan burger is truly, that.
Also, the waitstaff promised their seasoned fries were only lightly seasoned.  Next time, I'll be asking for them plain since they clearly have a different concept of  "lightly".
And while I chose the fries, they offered other side options, i.e. slaw, cottage cheese, or salad, sweet potato fries, with an up charge providing some slightly healthier choices if so inclined.
I don't need to love everything on a restaurants menu to go back...it can be one single item that I enjoy and this fits the bill. Â I'll be back.
Man, I love a surprise!
I ordered a Club Sandwich with Homemade Chips. $8.75 Â Let me tell you this Club was fabulous! Most Clubs come toasted but this one was on perfectly browned grilled seasoned bread. Nice and crunchy. Fresh carved turkey, crisp bacon, sliced ham, tomato, and fresh crisp romaine lettuce. The chips were crispy and seasoned with a bit of parmesan cheese. Many times places say their chips are homemade and I think to myself "yeah right" but these made me a believer.
I wanted to try their Onion Rings so the server suggested I order a side which is 5 rings for $2.25. They were fresh, crunchy and piping hot. It came with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce.
My husband had the Guiness Stew $11.99 that is all I pretty much know about it except it came in a bread bowl. I was way to busy enjoying my meal to think about his.
Rarely we order dessert, but my husband likes Gooey Butter Cake and they said theirs was a home made recipe,* waiting to be famous*. We bit. Yowser--- this was the best I have tasted thus far. They served it warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream dollop and strawberry $6. Gooey, cakey, sugarey, yummy, yummy, yummy  I got love in my tummy...
I come here for lunch almost daily. They have daily lunch specials that arent on the regualr menu, they have a respectable beer selection that doesnt just include AB products (They have Schlafly!!) and the service is awesome.
I also love the fact it has a neighborhood feel dispite being in a strip mall. Parking can get tricky during the 12-1 lunch rush but they have great outdoor seating and seperate space for the Bar and the Grille.
The bar is where you can find me!
They have a punch card so that your 10th lunch is free and will even hold onto it behind the bar for you!
Its a great place, good mix of demographics in terms of the patrons and the food is really good.
I almost always get the daily special but if not the things I like are the Reuben (maybe the best ever), The Chicken Philly, Irish Nachos, Smoked Salmon and the Club Sandwich.
Nice place! Â I'll definitely be back again. Â Easy to accommodate our party of 6 on a Saturday night. Â Excellent service, no grumbling when I pulled out the groupon. Â Nice selection of beers on tap. Â
My only complaint was that the shepherd's pie had too high a ratio of mashed potato. Â I would have preferred more meat and more gravy. Â Still pretty darn good. Â The guiness stew came in a nice crusty breadbowl. Â The pot roast was a huge pile of meat but a tad overcooked for my taste. Â Interesting dessert selections included gooey butter cake and sopapillas. Â
Can't wait for a HH on the patio this summer!
Pleasantly surprised. Â
I work right across the street from this place and have seen this restaurant change names & ownership numerous times over the years. Â However, I really hope Fallon's is here to stay. Â
The place is quite large, especially if you factor in the patio space they use on nicer days. Â Bart to the right, restaurant to the left. Â As typical to other 'Irish' restaurants in STL... very little is Irish about this place other than a few dishes & a few pictures. Â In fact, this place feels more like Applebee's than a true Irish Pub. Â But this is a complaint I have with almost all Irish establishments in town, not just Fallon's.
Moving on, we ordered Mom's Corned Beef & Cabbage, and the oh so traditional Irish dish of Fettuccine & Meatballs. Â Both dishes were very good. Â They may look like an Applebees but the food tastes home made and fresh. Â The corned beef was perfect... served with red potatoes & pickled carrots. Â Full of flavor. Â The meatballs in the pasta rivaled some that you can find on the hill. Â Again, the food was surprisingly good... and will have me returning.
A few negatives...
- I love the comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar, but please don't let your waitresses wear flip flops, even if they are working the patio. Â One had flip flops on when we were first seated. Â It's just disgusting and the noise while eating is annoying.
- Along the same lines, our server was attentive, but the ball cap pulled so far down that I could barely see her eyes feels shady... not welcoming.
- Lastly, it was a bit bright in here for a pub. Â I could have used for some dimmer lighting.
Me and Vince been here twice and each time my meal was good. It was just way too cold inside for me, even when it was cold outside, LOL. Nevertheless, my drinks were good. They also have great sweet potatoe fries. Â They have a nice bar on one side and dining on the other. You can watch sports here and enjoy your food. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Yes, I will be back.
Review Source:Swell, man. Swell. That is the way I can describe Fallon's. I went there with my husband's coworkers back in December. There was trivia that night (Thursday if I can recall). My husband and I got the nachos. Not the best on the planet, but from the looks at everyone else's food, we may have just picked a weak item on what looks to be a relatively strong menu. Our waitress was very attentive even with the large crowd.
If you are in the area (probably because of work) I would definitely recommend. It is a perfect place to eat some greasy, delicious food, down some Kraftig Light, and bitch about how your boss is Satan.
This is quickly becoming my favorite bar. The 2 times I have been here, we have been part of a large group, great service, and it's not too loud to talk.
I watched game 7 of the World Series here, WOW, so much fun! Everybody was amped up and the owner came around with free shots!
Not a huge fan of the potato skins, they were abnormally small, but I did try the T Ravs once, they are very good and on Tuesdays they have a sirloin special for $7 with 2 sides I think. Â My friends were suggesting that, after I already ordered! Â
My favorite drink, since I don't really drink beer is a Crispin Cider, I highly recommend it to anyone anti-beer like myself. Â :o)
Love this place! Owner introduced himself to us and greets us now even after a few months between our visits. He seems to genuinely care. We feel like we are really welcome when we walk in. And the food is definitely a step above pub food. Live music sometimes and a fun crowd. We need to go back more frequently.
Review Source:We went to Fallon's to take advantage of Groupon's Daily Deals. Â This was our first time and it was a Monday night. Â
This is a really nice looking pub, with a bar area on one side and booths on the other side separated by a wall. Â There is also a nice size patio out front w/ a fountain.
We sat in a booth and were greeted right away. Â We ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms to start with and they were delish! Â Very cheesy and yummy!
Next we got our Chicken Philly on a toasted hogie w/ mushrooms. Â This was soooo good as well! Â We ordered the onion rings on the side since we read so many good reviews about them and they were right! Â The O-rings are crunchy and not greasy a bit.
Our waitress was Christine and she was very attentive and nice. Â While there, a couple other people stopped by to check on us and clear plates....everyone was so nice.
Before we left, we noticed that they were starting a Trivia Night as well. Â
Fun place....we'll for sure be back!!
I only go to this place because it's my alma mater's game watching bar. Â Basically I'm really familiar with this place on Saturday mornings and afternoons.
The prices across the board are okay.
Food reviews of everything I have had:
1. Â Wings - Decent and standard buffalo wings.
2. Â Onion Rings - Â Those onions can hold their heads up high.
3. Â Pizza - I'm not a fan of provel cheese. Â The crust is really thin, which I do love, but I have never seen cheese coagulate into a homogeneous blob of crap so quickly before.
4. Â Reuben - Disappointing.
5. Â Fries - Reminds me of Burger King fries, and I do like my BK fries!
I didn't stay here long, nor did I eat here, so sorry if this isn't a super helpful review, but this place ROCKS from what I did experience! Great live music, great setup, relaxed atmosphere, and really fun and diverse crowd. Very surprising for this unassuming strip mall. The bartenders were super friendly and actually introduced themselves and shook hands with us (but part of that may be because I was there with the world's hottest chick... if you're ugly, they may not be as nice to you, I don't know). My only complaint is that the drinks were pricey. Oh, and that the music, while great, was so loud that I could not even communicate with the person next to me without flailing my arms in a desperate version of bar charades.
They have a fountain outside where you can relax with a drink in the summer. Plus 10 cool points.
