My boyfriend and I decided to try out Famous Dave's last Friday before heading to a movie. When we arrived we were told there would be a 20-30 minute wait but we ended up waiting around 40 minutes. I'm not sure what the delay was but luckily we are pretty patient and we had plenty of time to make the movie so we didn't say anything. It was pretty crowded that night and the waiting area wasn't adequate in my opinion. It was small and right outside the bar so the noise level was a little high.
When we finally got seated, our server was very nice and attentive. He came over right away to get our drinks and offer up some suggestions for the menu. We ended up ordering the pulled pork and the brisket with some various sides. I ended up liking my boyfriends pulled pork more than my brisket and vice versa. The jalapeno mac and cheese (a recommendation from our waiter) was very good and I like the variety of sauces on the table. It helped that they had a description of each one so we wouldn't end up setting our mouths on fire.
We saved room for dessert and ordered the small version of the banana pudding. It was very good! Probably something I could make at home but I'm glad we ordered it. It was the perfect amount for two if you don't want a lot for dessert. All in all, we will come back again but I hope they work the kinks out with the seating times. It is a new restaurant so I'm sure they are still working on some fine tuning.
My second visit there and it was worse than the first. Â I had the brisket. Â It was extremely dry. Â The rib tips were also so dry you needed to drench with barbecue sauce to get it down. Â Coors light was 5.50. Â Wow! Â Won't be going there again because the barbecue just isn't that good. Â The wings seem baked rather than fried and while they say it is buffalo sauce, no way is that possible. Â Maybe some kind of reflection of a buffalo sauce. Â Most of their sauces, even the XXX ,are not spicy. Â Won't likely be going again. Â It's fairly new in Hamilton County so it's often packed. Â That wears off after while, though.
Review Source:Spoiled milk and awful, unfriendly service. Â Our two-year-old daughter was served spoiled milk at this location. Â We let the server know, and he practically interrupted us to say "I just watched [another employee] open it!" Â If that is true, it was either past its expiration date or had been sitting unrefrigerated because it was definitely spoiled.
Just after he removed the milk, we saw another table's child being served some milk. Â My wife let the mother know. Â The other table's server also argued about the milk and apparently told our server about this also since I returned from the restroom to find our server arguing with my wife about the milk again, and admonishing her for warning the other table. Â I suggested we shouldn't need to continue to debate the subject and maybe he had some other tables to help. Â He became upset and fetched the manager.
The manager confirmed there was an issue with the milk, and replaced our server with a new one at our table and another nearby table. Â Other than this, he seemed quite unconcerned with the situation saying only "that's not how it's supposed to go." Â We noted our previous server continuing to serve other tables.
The replacement server was pleasant and the food took a while to arrive but was decent quality. Â The awful treatment by employees however was appalling and unforgettable, and we won't be returning here.
Great beef brisquet and chopped pork...sauces are also good. Â I would suggest trying them all on different pieces of pork before deciding on a favorite! Â I'm going to be easy on the staff and kitchen because this is a newly opened restaurant, and it was not difficult to see that they were still trying to get the "fine tuning" down. Â All in all, though, I thought our waiter Shawn was very good and offered good suggestions. Â About a 20 minute wait, but they were short-staffed in the kitchen. Â I'd say in a month or so, this place will be running a lot smoother!
