OK so a little evening of laughter is just what the doctor ordered. Upon arriving it was pretty quiet,I guess they don't really start to hop until later. Went to the bar asked for a drink menu. The bartender gave me the menu and then just left me at the bar and went into the kitchen or something.Strike one.Next thing I noticed is that the drinks are really expensive,I'm sorry did I just arrive at a Beverly hills club? After you finish with a tip expect to pay 13-16 dollars for a drink.Given the spotty talents of bar tenders in general it is at your own risk that you shell out that kinda dough for drinks. Every one represents like they are mixologists when the truth is they probably ran the bar at their fraternity parties.I was part of a large party our waitress was awesome, don't remember her name but she was a blond, very engaging and quick to respond to requests and concerns. OK so i ordered my drink it took a very long time to come out,I will give a break for the fact that the bar was most likely slammed, however those are the owners problems and should be addressed. My friend received his iced tea and IT WAS THE WORST SWILL I HAVE EVER TASTED ! Seriously, either your ice cube machine is contaminated or your not monitoring the taste quality of what your serving. Next, you have to work on organizing food orders,my salad had to go back FOUR times..I was asked at least 5 times if this was my entree..come on get it together people are paying a lot of money for an experience not a nightmare. My chicken was way over cooked under heated and basically over priced for what I got,my friends pasta was horrible. Strike two. There was a lady going around taking pictures she asked the people around me and ignored me all together.I was with all of these people. i have to tell you that was really insulting and rude. Strike three. Your out. If not for the comedy show it would have been a total loss in my eyes. The first two comics should keep their day jobs. The stuttering guy was really funny and i applaud him taking a set back and turning it into something that he and others enjoy,he is a real inspiration. The turrets guy  was funny too,but i really couldn't see a severe turrets issue. But he did say he was working for BET..lol The nation of Islam must be getting desperate..haha..j/k. I appreciate what it takes to get up on stage and do what they do so for that they all have my admiration. In order for you to raise the game of Flappers the kitchen food and execution need serious improvement. If im gonna lay out 100-150 for me and my party it better be top notch..with peoples wallets much tighter these days you will have to compete for their loyalty. In my case I challenge you to raise the bar and your bottom line by addressing these issues. I think its great to have a comedy club option so close to where I live and my hope is that you take this review in the spirit in which it is given. The second star is for the laughs and our waitress.
Review Source:Flappers let us down the last time we went. Â Seats were good, comedians good, but kitchen staff went on vacation to Rome, probably. Â Food we ordered (a simple pizza) came 30 minutes late and during the second act. Â Good looking food was being served left and right all around me - but WHERE was my pizza? Â Waitress, when she did come by, made some lame excuse, but did give me a free beer at least. Â And I needed it! Â . Â Ah...now that food had arrived I was eager to dig in - yikes! Â what the hell was that? Â In the dark I surmised that what was supposed to be Margherita pizza turns out to be a cooked pizza crust with raw pizza sauce thrown on it - yes, raw pizza sauce. Â Oh yeah, so glad I waited half the night for THAT! Â Do I want to complain? Â No, I just want to get the hell out of there & get something decent to eat!
Review Source:After my terrible review of flappers two years ago I  finally gave it a try again last night.  I have to say I had a great time!  The place really nice, the seating every seat is a good seat and the comedy hilarious!  I want to give it 5 stars for the great time I had, but I give it 4 stars cause  the food can be better it's not completely terrible but the it can definitely be better and the cookies they said were so good were just store bought ready to bake cookies. The other reason I can't give it 5 stars was the Emcee - Erikka Innes . She was just not funny at all.  The Emcee should be someone who can keep the audience up and laughing and every time she came out after the the funny comedians she really brought the mood down. Â
Tony Baker Hilarious (Ladies wear water proof mascara cause your eyes will be watering the whole time)
DC Ervin and Samuel J Comroe really funny guys also kept me laughing
Erikka and one other comedian Dave Reinitz not funny just  a chuckle here and there.
Oh by the way check out their website they have a deal for $20 it admits two people and you get an appetizer and a slice of cake really great Deal!
I've been here a bunch of times on different nights -- sometimes in the 2nd stage Yoohoo room and sometimes in the Main Stage. Â Makes no difference -- you always get a great mix of comedians, some famous, some not. Â But the talent level is always high, the service is exceptional -- from the people who work the door, to the servers. Â And the food is crazy GOOD, not usual cardboard crap you find at comedy clubs. Â Instead it's actually REALLY, REALLY good food. Â I've had the burger, pizza, nachos and they have a good selection of beers and cocktails. Â I even won a 1-day comedy intensive class, which was really fun and taught me a lot about standup comedy. Â Several instructors (including the owners of Flappers, teamed up to teach this class, and they were passionate, funny, had great energy and were really nice. Â I'm thinking of taking a writing class or an Intro to stand-up comedy class at Flappers in the near future.
Review Source:We went here for the Father's Day funnies. Â Something different to do with out of town parents.
Service was great - we had two servers - a cute woman who was very helpful (and honest) and she was later cut because it was "slow" so this poor guy had to work the (half full) room. Â There is a wide variety of food and drink options. Â I tried the trio of teeny tini's - which were ok. A little too tart for my taste but I wanted something different and it came in a variety. Â I switched to a Sav. Blanc after that, which was good. Â The food was just mediocre if you ask me. Â we should have stuck to nibbles and drinks and but ordered entrees. Â My boyfriend and I ordered something to split but didn't end up eating much of it. Â I will say the Bree cheese plate is quite yummy if you want something to nibble on between laughs.
The comics that night were quite the variety. I enjoyed myself. Â Perhaps going on father's day, with parents, you hold back your laugher a bit. Â There was only 1 female comic so work on getting more ladies! Â We're funny too! First comic was simply dreadful and I think he knew and cut his act short. Â Don't invite him back. Â
May come back here in the future for other events.
Did i come here on a bad night or something? The food was okay and they require a 2 drink/food minimum for each person. You're spending about 30-50 a person by coming here. The performers range from new people to professional comedians so they were either horrible or LOL funny. Out of maybe 10 comics, 2 of them had me laughing like crazy and the rest i smiled out of sympathy for them. Where do they even get some of these people? Overall it was an okay experience. I don't plan on coming back anytime soon.
Review Source:My hubby and I are pretty big on "Yelp" when it comes to date night. We try and find fun places and good food together other than your typical "chain" restaurants.
We were in the area yesterday and he decided to look up some places to eat and we found Flapper's. We saw the rating and read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try!
We were greeted by Parker, who had excellent costumer service and really knew his stuff. Since we arrived really early, he let us pick any seat we wanted, reserve them, and then come back before the show started (so we didn't have to wait around for two hours).
When we returned, we were lead to our seats and greeted by our server for the evening, Bobby, who had great costumer service as well.
I ordered the mushroom and swiss burger and an iced tea, and my hubby ordered the bayou burger with a beer. We were both THRILLED that the food was actually Really good. He was quite nervous after reading reviews that the food was awful. But trust us, we are big foodies, and we were pleasantly surprised! :]
And to top it all off, I think we paid a grand total of $17.08.
(Yelp had a free admission with check-in, and we also bought a deal for 13$ for 20$ worth of food.) So with their policy of a two drink/item per person minimum, I say we did pretty dang well!
All in all it was a really great date. The comics were funny, the service was super, and the food was quite enjoyable.
Went to a Saturday night show at 7pm. We arrived few minutes before the show started and were seated in great seats, then again it is a small room. The first thing I noticed was the strong smell of buffalo wings and stinky food. It has carpet, which I'm sure has not been washed in ages. It's an old venue, it's time to make some renovations. I was not in the mood to drink, but it was a 2 drink minimum which I thought was a bit annoying. My friend ordered 2 stellas ($6.00 a piece) and 1 got a bottled water. Of course the group next to us ordered tons of food and maybe 3 rounds of drinks, several times the waiter was in our view of the stage. Obviously not his fault, but it did add to my experience. The British comedian was so so, but we really liked Alonzo Boden.
Review Source:Had a great time last night here. Been here before and it was just OK, but last night was really fun. We ate dinner before the show and the food was good. The service was way better than I remembered it. The comedian was really funny. The place was packed!
It fills up fast on the weekends and we got there an hour early for the 8am and the place was already 2/3rds full.
Came here with some friends and family. Â Had a nice time. Â Service was great and were seated exactly where we wanted. Â Were seated upon arrival and enjoyed our evening.
Food is okay (nothing great). Â Drinks are pretty good. Â Relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for the Burbank crowd.
Will be back.
I've come here a few times for the California's Funniest Female Contest. Â
Admission is fairly reasonable and they headline a named comedian once in a while. Â The atmosphere is nice, but the seating arrangement could be a little 'friendly.' Â But no worries, the times I've been here, there have been plenty of seats. Â The food and beverages are ok. Â The most I've ever had here were a side of fries and a Hefeweizen. Â They do have a selection of varied types of fries. Â They also might enforce the 2 item minimum.
Overall, not a bad place to have a good laugh. Â Come here early for the good seats. Â Parking might be a problem on weekends as the nearest parking lot is shared by the shops, movie theater, and restaurants of the Burbank Town Center.
Ok, you go here for the show, and have to get food, but some of the plates are not bad. Try the chili, or the Godfather ( a burger stuffed with sausage). Their sweet potato fries are great. They charge you for refills which kind of sucks, but you get to laugh for about an hour if the comics are good. Only once have I laughed so hard they I couldn't breathe, but most of the time they have a really funny guy or girl (Kira Soltanovivh is our favorite girl, but Maria Bamford comes by and she's funny sometimes too.) Â Overall, go for the show, get the manditory two plates and have fun.
Review Source:My best friend texted me when she found out Rob Schneider would be doing stand-up at Flappers. Â I have never really been to a comedy show so I figured, "Why not?!" Â Got two tickets for me and the boyfriend. Â We were really stoked.
The venue is cozy and intimate and the entrance fee is fair. Â There is a two-drink minimum, but I totally get it because how else are they gonna make money?! Â This club does include a restaurant and the food looks pretty appetizing. Â I, myself, only had the drinks. Â I love their caramel apple martini! Â I had two of them! Â Would've had more but I had one other drink (I forget the name of it) and I started getting slightly buzzed (yes, I no longer drink heavily so alcohol affects me more easily).
Their comic line-up was wonderful. Â I probably still would've laughed my ass off even if Rob Schneider wasn't there. Â Would definitely go back again.
Tip: Â Arrive 90 minutes prior to the show to grab prime seats. Â You can grab dinner there while waiting for the show to begin.
We came to Flappers Two Milk Minimum Family Friendly Show with a large group of friends - there were 19 of us - and afterward we could not stop talking about what a GREAT time we had!! Every child from the littlest to the most "mature" was entertained, included & just had so much fun. The food and drinks were really good & the service was attentive, even with our crazy big social group. Well done, Flappers!!! We will definitely be back!!
Review Source:Awesome show! Â YAY PJ Walsh Headliner!!!
This is my favorite comedy club both in Burbank and Claremont. Â Great vibe! Â I will definitely return with a gaggle of friends next time PJ headlines.
Buffalo Fries YUMMY. Â And value priced. Â ;p
Ordered two salty dog cocktails, first one tasted like it was made with lemon juice. ugh, second cocktail adequate but at $8.50 a beverage, felt ripped off. Â This was a well drink made badly.
Server started out friendly and then towards the middle of the evening was curt and got her tip cut in half by constantly mam this, mam that when she started the evening friendly and checking my ID. Â My point is friendly and polite through out service insures minimum 20% tip in my book. Â Not an unreasonable expectation. Â I was polite to my server.
I was walking disappointed out of line for yet another sold out movie at the AMC when a guy from Flappers approached me and asked if I wanted to see a free show. I thought "why not?" and been coming back ever since.
It is a small club with great stand-ups. Be warned, the room is small, so if you like to heckle or be annoying the comedian can see you and will poke fun of you (which I love to see).
Parking is free. I highly recommend parking by the Sears and walking across the street (otherwise you are competing with the peeps looking for parking to go to the movies).
The only knock is the food. No bueno. Eat before you come and use your two item minimum on either alcohol or the cookies (those are actually pretty good).
It was my first time here last night and i loved it, I've always seen this driving by or if i go to the movies at the amc but never went. I sat in the front (knowing that they were going to pick on me) and they did!!! Lol my server was jackie, she was very nice and very pretty. The best part is that i actually won free tickets in the raffle. I had a lot of fun. I'll be coming back again soon
Review Source:Came here 2 nights in a row to see Bill Burr on a Thursday and Christopher Titus the following Friday. Â Both of the shows were amazing and filled with laughs. Â We even got to meet Titus at the end of the show!
I didn't have much expectations for their food, but was pleasantly surprised. Â The gf ordered the steak chili cheese fries and I had ordered the bacon mac and cheese, both of which actually tasted great.
There is also ample free parking at the Ashley Furniture diagonally across the street, which is a huge plus.
All in all, a great comedy club.
This place is awesome!
I've been to several comedy clubs in and around L.A. and unlike a lot of them, Flappers is a guaranteed good time. I've been here quite a few times and I always leave in a happy, giggly mood. Parking is awesome (I love how Burbank has free parking on practically every street). The inside is meant to feel like you're in the 20's (duh... FLAPPERS) and its set up is pretty comfy. A full bar and a lounge-y area are waiting for you to linger around before the show starts. Last time I was here, there was a lady playing a ukulele in the bar area singing about her lady parts. Um, weird. I did, however, see Samuel Comroe who performs there quite often. Check him out if you get a chance; he was hilarious! Flappers is a great spot to have a nice drink and share some giggles with friends.
FYI: There's more than one showroom so make sure you're in the big one. The small one is too crowded!
xo
The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the show was really good.
The restaurant leaves MUCH to be desired. First off, I made reservations for the "restaurant" which is really just a few tables next to the bar- and when we came to check in, the front staff seemed to have no flippin' idea what to do with us.
We sat ourselves, and waited about 20 minutes before the waitress even came over.
Service in general was kind of lousy, and the food was meh. My mom ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and half of it was RAW. They were nice enough to take it off the bill, but ew.
My pizza was mediocre and it seems everyone else's meals were similarly bland and run-of-the-mill.
There was a "lounge singer" in the bar, she was extremely loud and also pretty terrible. The couple next to us moved their table closer to us so as to not be blasted by the speakers and she took great offense and made some nasty comments OUT LOUD to them. Not the way to get tips, lady.
The show was great, any seat in the house is a good one.
The restaurant needs some better management or something.
Went to see Bill Burr. Arrived the suggested 90 minutes ahead of time. Got a seat in the bar, ordered dinner and drinks (counts towards two item minimum). The place fills up fast.
The showroom is big, seating is comfy. We sat right up in front, great view. Not too squished has I have been in other comedy clubs.
Food was good, and reasonable priced for such a location. Would definetly go back to see another show!
Flappers Comedy Club is located near the Burbank Town Center, tons of restaurants, and ample (free) parking. Â I saw a show in the Yoo Hoo room, a small venue with enough capacity for maybe 50 people. Â The venue itself was fairly decent, but the drinks and the food in particular were pretty bad - we had the baked chicken wings (some special of the day) and the Jalapeno, Chevre, and Bacon Mac 'n Cheese. Â That combination of ingredients should be a home-run but was underseasoned and lacked the creamy deliciousness that one would expect from even an average mac 'n cheese. Â The martinis had a saccharine and artificial flavor.
The show itself - "Another Chick in the Wall" featuring a cast of all female comedians - was on a level far above the venue and the food. Â I don't think this is a regular show but would like to give a shout-out to the better comedians of the evening which were Laura Crawford and Awet Teame. Â These ladies were funny, self-deprecating, and very charming - and are definitely worth going to see!
I came here on a  Saturday night, and I really liked the venue. My boyfriend and I parked at the nearby public parking structure, which was free, and we got our tickets from will call. The host then took us to the theater. He was nice, and he wore a 1920s getup. The waitresses had similar attire, and I liked how the place kept with the flappers theme.
The service and food was good. Our waitress checked up on us frequently, and I liked our mixed drinks, burger, and chicken sandwich. The food wasn't the most amazing food ever, but it was good bar food.
The show itself was entertaining. The concept was that comedians had to make up bits on the fly, based upon whatever random word or image was thrown at them. Since not all comedians are improvisers, some of the comics struggled, and for the most part, I wished I could have seen their prepared material instead. However, I still had a great time, and all the comics on the stage were talented and fun to watch.
I'm so glad that Burbank has gained this new place. I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend on a Groupon deal. I first have to say that the theme and the idea of the club are fantastic and something new. I love how all the staff are dressed appropriately and go well with the theme. Second, I absolutely love how user friendly the website is. I made my reservations on line, printed out my confirmation page just in case, and showed up. From the beginning, the staff was extremely pleasant and very helpful. We were not treated any differently because we had a Groupon (you'd be surprised by other places). And our waitress knew what our deal came with and delivered our wings and chocolate cake in a timely manner. I will definitely be returning. Great location, Great theme and excellent staff:) Thank you Flapper's Comedy Club for being awesome and being on top of things.
Review Source:I went to the Sunday night show in the small venue off to the right of the main club. I like how quaint and intimate it is, but they really should have more than one waitress serving during the show. A two-drink minimum is required, but that was hard to reach when the waitress was busy trying to get around to all the tables. And we had to wait for awhile after the show was over to actually get my credit card and receipt back.
About half the comedians were funny - I know this varies at any club and depends on the comedians. A suggestion I have is not to pack so many comedians into one night. I think there were about 10 comedians, but each only got about 10 minutes. It seemed like some were cut short, and it just didn't seem long enough for them to get into their act.
Now if your looking for more than just a nice dinner out and you want to spend the evening with a smile on your face, then Flappers is definitely one place you gotta go.
The comedy that night was great. Â It was a set list. Â About 4 different comedians took turns to get on stage and work the crowd based on stuff the audience had written down on cards, only a few minutes before the show started. Â The cards were placed in a box and that's what they had to work with. Â It was hilarious!
The comedy was great! Â The service was great! Â The food and "beverages" were great!
I look forward to going back soon to check out some of their other shows.
I recommend checking out their website for the calendar.
We've all heard it be said that laughter is the best medicine. Although doctors have not yet proven this to be true (supposedly it does boost chemicals which helps the immune system); it certainly helps to make one feel better when down in the dumps. Being that my boyfriend (and fellow Yelper) and I are going through some crazy-terrible financial issues; he decided he wanted some comedy on his 33rd birthday. Off we went to Flappers to enjoy a night of laughs.
Flappers isn't your typical run-of-the-mill Hollywood comedy club and instead has the aire and feel of a local theatre with geeky drama nerds. I say this like it is a bad thing but it actually helps Flappers feel neighborhood-y and welcoming. One can come in wearing jeans and a hoodie or dressed up on a fancy date and both will feel comfortable. In fact, Flappers overall is a somewhat casual affair.
Upon arriving, the host (who said he was a new employee) was kind and helpful and did not yet exhibit annoyance with his job. He suggested we wait in the bar area until the show begins seating. The bar isn't anything fancy-schmancy and is literally a bar with a couple TVs and some booths. Being that Flappers requires a two-item minimum (like most comedy clubs); the bar is a great place to start. Luckily, the two-item minimum covers anything from water or soda to alcohol, food, and desserts. Therefore, you can satisfy the requirement with items as low as $4.
Although the bartender was pleasant (even offering to take a photo on my camera); the drinks were sub-par. The menu offers delicious mixes and descriptions but the cocktails are watered down and barely contain alcohol. My favorite was the Irish Ginger Sour (Jameson, ginger liqueur, and sour mix- $11) which had a wonderful ginger kick (but still skimped on the whiskey). We also enjoyed the Apple Tree Bubbles (Jim Beam, apple liqueur, and sparkling apple cider- $11). Again, tasty but low on the alcohol. Don't try the Mixed Berry Lemondrop though ($11) which was so watered down and terrible that it tasted like it has been sitting on a counter and we returned it. Basically, the drinks are fruity but won't get you tipsy.
The main comedy room is set up well looking like a comfortable, spacious restaurant versus just some audience seating. The first row requires you to crane your neck so opt for some seats back. The sound system is great and the stage is lit up well. The show we attended was satisfying and a value with 8 comedians (although there were literally only 7 people in a attendance which is a joke on Flappers). The comedians put on a great show even with barely any audience. The waitress serving drinks was kind and not overly pushy.
The highlight was the host granting us two $50 VIP tickets as a birthday gift. The downfall? Although these VIP tickets can be used on "Special Events" (main headlining shows like Tom Green); only reservations can be made for these events with the comp tickets and thus, you have to wait in a sideline and will only be let in if ticket-holders are no-shows. This is terrible! Why even hand out "VIP" tickets then?! Or be clear that they are only really good for lesser acts.
Overall, Flappers is a great place for a few laughs and is the type of place one expects to see in a VH1 or Comedy Central "Before They Were Stars" type show. Although it isn't the Laugh Factory or the Comedy Store; Flappers will write up your humor prescription.
Had a great time here on a Saturday night. Went to the 8pm show which was the warm up show for some of the comedians that were performing later.
Really liked the option of ordering drinks and/or food. The garlic fries, steak cheese fries and pizzas were great!
Afterwards we hung out in their outside patio and conversed with some of the comics. Such a fun get away from the snobbery of the Sunset Strip.
Keep up the good work FLAPPERS!
$10 Flappers Funnies was decent. Comedians are volunteers and range from newbies to seasoned comedians. Half of jokes were sexual which kind of got boring, but I appreciated that there was political, family, and pop news jokes.
FOOD sucked. The website doesn't clearly denote which shows require a 2 food/drink minimum so we weren't sure if this one did until we got there. Cheapest thing are fountain drinks ($4). Alcoholic drinks ~$8-12.
Caesar Salad- 1 crouton, hardly any cheese.. just lettuce
Mac N' Cheese $8- Basically pasta shells with a very light white cheesy sauce.. one of the worse I've had.
Garlic Fries $6- ok.
Red Velvet Cake $6- Probably the best thing we ordered. It was moist, not dry.
Flappers- Burbank is pretty decent. Â Ive been here 3 times, and all 3 times have been pretty decent. Â I use to frequent HaHa's in the valley and that place was a pretty serious let down... such a let down, that I now have my guard up with all comedy clubs. Â
Id give Flappers a better review if the bar service was better, and the food improved. Â
The Bar is a joke! Â All 3 times I have been to Flappers in Burbank, Â We got absolutely ZERO service. Â each time there were 2 bartenders and not one of them even acknowledged us sitting at the bar.. even after trying to flag them down. Â The best part, the bar is VERY small.. You almost rub elbows with the bar tenders, and they still ignore you!! Â
My last visit to Flappers Burbank the bartender ignored us again, but the employees in the kitchen were getting served shots of Tequila. Â I about lost my shit... Â No service for the "customers" at the bar, but free shots of Tequila for the kitchen staff.. Â Are you kidding me!! Â Â On a side note about service, the service you get once you are seated is OK. Â 100% better than the bar service!! Â
So... Yes, the bar SUCKS, but the talent they bring to the stage is great! Â I will never go back to HaHa's in the valley, so this is my new spot, and I hope some one reads this and addresses the horrible bar service that seems to be pretty consistently lacking. Â
judging by the quality of the food I have been served here each time, the kitchen should not be allowed to drink on the clock. Â Something is hurting your food here, and after seeing with my own eyes the shots going down... I think having a "no drinking on the job" policy might be a good start for your business.
Overall... Â I come here for the comedy, its just a shame there is a 2 item purchase minimum that forced me into ordering food that was a waste of time and money!
Comedy is king or queen, depending who's headlining.
But the food sucks. Â Mostly unhealthy caloric choices, and that wouldn't be so bad if it actually tasted good. Â But it doesn't, and you have a minimum. Â The menu is too extensive for its own good -- it means nothing is done well! Â The good news is, after a couple laughs, a couple drinks, you won't care. Â A good comic will do that to you.
