This place was great I don't know about therese haterade reviews. This place was cute. Service was great. Wine was yummy.. Staff was knowledge. Local wine. It did not break the bank. Food was amazing, how many times does the chef come out to talk to you  in orange county. like the terminator says "i'll be back"
Oh yea .. its so cute when you are walking in .. they have these mini grape vines, and there is rosemary bushes, onions are growing in a barrel garden

I have to comment on Joe M.'s below.  Yes, this winery is in an industrial district, but it's not like the wine is made with motor fuel or with an at home kit.  The grapes are sourced from various parts of California and gives us the opportunity to experience new wines without making a weekend out of it.  It's amazing that people assume wine tastes better if it's drank in "wine country".  I have been to OC Custom Wine and have been pleased with every visit. And this is coming from a person who works at a competing winery in OC that just so happens to reside in an industrial park.  Keep it up OC Custom Wines!

    A Love Letter.

Dear Forty Vines, (they are changing their name)

I love you for your delicious wine blends.

I love you for letting me blend my own delicious wines.

I love you for letting me create my own labels.

I love you (John) for helping me create my own labels, since I have no creativity of my own.

I love you (Chef Susan) for your fabulous food... especially the bruschetta.

I love you for your casual yet elegant and romantic interior.

But most of all I love you for the spectacularly warm and knowledgeable service I receive every time I am there, whether I am with the BF or the BFFs.

This place is one of those Yelp dilemmas.... you want to rave about it. But you also want to keep the amazing secret to yourself.

A little gem not far from home.  My wife and I ventured out one night looking to try something new.  We were pleasantly surprised at what we found.  Good wines, friendly knowledgable servers, pleasant atmosphere and delicious food.

Being tucked away in an industrial park, it is a little different.  However, the music is good on the weekends and parking is not a problem.  Soon they will be opening up a brewery as well.  I am looking forward to sampling some of their creations.

We are looking forward to going back again soon.

Really not worth the trip.  They charge Napa prices for wines that are well below Temecula.  If you want to make your own blend it might be fun, but the wine really wasn't good and I had their reserve wines.

I'm really not sure what the deal is.  You get wine in an industrial area.  OC get the grapes and make the wine there.  OK?  Like a bigger version of those wine kits you take home; except you are paying winery prices.
Call me a purest, but I like to do my tasting in wine country, in the country, rather then next to a body shop or a medical supply distributor.  I like to maybe go outside, with a glass of wine, smell the fresh air and take in the view.  Not  see buildings and smell the freeway.
The GF's mom got me this Groupon for my birthday (last year, yeah I know, slacker), and it was expiring on the 24th.
Walking, the place did look like a barrel/tasting room, so I'll credit them for that.  The attraction was to make your own wine, well we never got that opportunity.  That's why I'm kinda shocked to see other reviews that had the chance to make a blend.  I would have loved to been able to mix a blend.  I guess I should have checked it out before we got there.  On the Groupon, it said that's what we were supposed to get, but since the place was called OC Custom, I figured it was just a wine.
We were just offered the basic tasting and for an upgrade of $10, we were offered the reserve tasting.  i wanted to taste the Zin, so I upgraded and the GF kept the regular tasting.

     So, on to the wines:
'05 Central Coast Syrah - Way too acidic for us.  It left your mouth like you had a bunch of Lemonheads.
'06 Arroyo Grande Valley Zinfandel - The best wine of the lot, but mediocre at best.  Nice balance in the middle, but finished rough.
'08 Los Carneros Pinot Noir - A very forgettable Pinot.  No fullness or finish.  Pretty flat.
Port - Not enough Brandy was put into this. Needed more heat and kick.  Really lacking in the "Ahhhhhhh" department.
NV Central Coast Zinfandel -  This non-vintage Zin has some of the older wines in there, plus the one I liked.  It tasted like a mixture with no direction.
'08 Napa Valley Merlot - Not a big fan of Merlot and this didn't help one bit.  I do try them, give me some credit for that.
'08 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon -  I was shock to find a weak Cab.  I never thought that could be pulled off, well, here it was.

A lot of the wines were very reminiscent of store bought stuff. None of these wines have any shelf life and really are only good for mass consumption, but not at $30 a pop.
The blends were a little better, but not by much.  That is usually the product of mixing two "eh" wines together, you get "Eh".

To the wine maker: Don't get to discouraged and  or full of yourself.  You have to hear from the people who are rough on your wines. How else will you grow?
Honesty, the beauty of wine.  Gotta love it.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I've been here twice and each time, Fabulous. Garrett helped us and told us everything to do with how the wine we're drinking was made to what goes well with what. He was great! (Ask for him!)

Best part: You can make your own Customized Wine labels! Great for gifts! You can either take a picture there with the wine barrels OR upload a facebook/mobile phone picture, awesome!

I've never really had a problem with wine attitudes.  Like the first time my husband and I visited Paso Robles.  We were sure that the waiters would turn up their noses if we selected the wrong wines or maybe they would scoff at an inexpensive choice.   We chose to  just be ourselves and we had a memorable time.
Our conclusion: Attitude comes from the drinker, not the server, and certainly not the wineries,  which by basic successful business standards pretty much prohibit discrimination.

With that in mind, we ventured into the cozy local O.C. Custom Wines for a taste.  We had heard several good reviews from friends and acquaintances.  We were not disappointed.

Unsure of how they operated, we were happy to see a small crowd on a Thursday night.  We were greeted warmly by the staff and received close, personal attention all evening.  We learned about the varietals and the custom blends.

Checking out the appetizer menu, we were  presented with a variety of choices.  We settled on the Mushrooms  Meritage. When paired  with one of the custom blends, our palates were quite pleased.  We were also surprised at the Asiago Cheese Toasts.  Again, it seemed perfectly matched with our wine.

Had we been hungrier we would have ventured on to the cheese plate.  Next time, we told ourselves.  As all were reasonably priced.

So next time you want to go out and have a relaxing evening with great wine and great appetizers, remember it's all up to you.  You can sniff and swirl anywhere.  But when will you learn something?

What a hidden treasure in a random Anaheim business park area!

$10 gets you 6 pours of different wines mixed together. I don't remember all of the combinations but they were all pretty tasty!

For the last two pours, you get to create your own custom wine. I think for our first custom one, we chose two of the wines that we really liked and put them together. But on the last one, our server recommended one to us based on our responses to the earlier tastings.

We also ordered the bruschetta trio which was soooo good! I wish there was more! They really accompany the wines really well.

Overall, a fun refreshing way to spend a weekend tasting wines for cheap!.

I went into OC Custom Wine to make a bottle of wine for my friend's wedding. I was greeted by warmly and given a tour of the facilities. It is a beautiful sight with huge barrels of wine. I knowledgeable man explained all the different wines to me and made me a couple custom combinations to taste. They were all quiet good and it was hard to choose, we tinkered around with the combinations and bottled my favorite. They we made a custom label for it. I pulled a picture from the internet of the happy couple and put a nice message and the date they are to be married on it. It turned out great and I was very pleased with the outcome. He put the custom label on my personally made bottle and it is a beautiful wedding present. It is something the couple can enjoy and save the bottle to remember the happy time. I have yet to give it to her but I know she will treasure it.

Super cool!  I didn't even know this place existed in Anaheim!! Went here for a 50th bday and event....like!

This place is local, very very small but homey? Probably good to bring one person?  Parking in the front and back, not too many available but I did mention this place is pretty small

Located in industrial business place, you'll never find this place unless you actually gps to find this place.  $10 for wine tasting and if you get membership you can bring one guest with you for complimentary and get wine shipped to you etc...

pretty secret place in Anaheim if you're in the area or local

A truly unique and fun experience so close to home!

You get to taste wines directly from the barrel that are ready to be bottled. Based upon what you tell them you like, they will blend 2, 3, or 4 of the wines together to create a unique blend of wine that suits your taste.

Then, you get to bottle it yourself. When you are done you can put your  favorite photo, or logo, and make a custom label for your custom wine.

A great way to celebrate special occasions, group events or just experience the joy of blending wine.

The owners are great and very accommodating.

Also their grapes are flown in from Napa so either one of their wines is good enough to be bottled alone and sold for well over 30 bucks.

I have some 2 for 1 coupons available so message me if you'd like some to try it out.
