My biggest complaint about this restaurant is that the wait staff is extremely unprofessional. I realize that it's a bar but after being a regular for over a year, it bothers me more and more. They are always making a scene, being obnoxious, and acting like their behavior is cute when really they are being annoying. The food is okay and they have a pretty good selection of beer. The beer is the only reason we still come here. The manager is very nice and professional, just can't help but wonder why this doesn't translate into the rest of the staff.
Review Source:First stop of the evening for out "divorce party" pub crawl. I will say that the staff was very nice and definitely offered to get us anything we needed. I think maybe we were just there on a bad night.
Lackluster patrons with negative attitudes. Boring decor-and I've been to some great traditional Irish pubs with amazing bars...this one was uneventful at best. It just reminded me of a chain restaurant like Chili's or Ruby Tuesdays. Nothing interesting or memorable. Oh, and my gin and tonic was weak, and that's NEVER good.
I love Fox and Hound. I go there often times 2-3 times a week to sit at the bar and have a beer after work or eat some dinner. Best fish and chips in Lubbock. Karaoke on Wednesday nights is always a blast, my friends and I always go. Their drinks are expensive however if you go on a special night (Example $2 pint night on Thursdays or $2 Shock Top $3 Blue Moon on Wednesday) you can make it out relatively inexpensive. Remember to down load their app to get $5 off your next meal! Only reason why it doesn't have 5 stars is because although the bar-tending is phenomenal wait staff is a hit or miss. When I've sat at a table verses the bar I've had to send my food back a time or two before and they're slow. Also, as previous reviews state, you do walk out smelling like an ash tray, however, they have gotten better.
Review Source:We went in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were the only ones in the place. We got our appetizer and beers quickly, but the keg beer tasted oxidized. After 20 minutes of waiting for our food, the waitress finally came over to tell me they were out of the beer cheese soup, but that it wasn't very good anyway. I ordered another meal and 5 minutes later the manager came over to apologize and comped our meal and beers. I give the place 2 stars because once we got our food (35 minutes after ordering it) it was pretty tasty.
Review Source:I stopped by here in the middle of the day to watch a World Cup game and get some work done.
The Good:
My first drink was a Bloody Mary and it was the best I've had in a long time. It was thick and spicy with just the just the right amount of garnish.
The WiFi was solid and free.
There were screens everywhere showing the game.
The Bad:
The boneless buffalo wings seemed like generic frozen wings. I ordered the spicy honey and they were fairly bland.
You are in store for THICK plumes of smoke when you sit virtually anywhere inside. These Lubbock folk smoke like chimneys.
There weren't many people inside, but the service was still relatively slow.
Overall:
I'll go back because the Bloody Mary made me a believer!
The drinks = pricey
The servers = not very accommodating
The bartenders = very accommodating.
The poker on sundays = a good game.
I enjoy this place, after I won the poker tourney-- I was talking with the bartender telling how I wished the gift card I won was cash-- because I needed real food-- and he offered to buy it from me! NICE!
This place has some the better maintained full sized pool tables in Lubbock. As might be expected, it's also more expensive to play here. Still, if you want to play on full size pool tables at a place that's not a dive/hole in the wall, this place is it. The food here is pretty good with lots of tv screens to watch your sport events.
Review Source:Great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat with a friend, or just hang out. Â Shuffleboard, darts, pool, lots of TVs.
Very spacious.
I love their food. Â Ultimate nachos and burgers are great.
This isn't one of Lubbock's wild college party bars. Â They play good music but it's not blaring--you can carry on a conversation without shouting.
I've never had a problem with the waitresses or bartenders--they're always friendly and the service is good or great.
I'd give five stars if they didn't stretch 4:3 TV broadcasts to fit 16:9 displays, thereby distorting the picture from what was intended. Â That's one of my pet peeves. Â :(
