Service is bad. Â I was there last night and the clerk basically spoke no English. Â She was very hard to understand. Â She overcharged me too, but since I couldn't understand her it was hard to get that across. Â She said sales tax, but sales tax isn't 25% of the bill. Â The hotdogs were okay, the french fries were greasy.
Review Source:I live across the street so I was very excited to see a burger and dog place open up in this little stretch of Lakeview. Â I've been to FF&Ds three times since they have opened and each time I have been underwhelmed. Â The prices are very reasonable and they have a fun menu, offering a variety of meats and fresh cut fries. Â Unfortunately the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Â
The fries, though a beautiful golden brown, are completely soggy and disgusting. Â I've had both sweet potato and traditional fries here, and they both came out exactly the same. Â If the owners are reading this, you can probably crisp up your fries by dabbing the potatoes with a paper towel to dry them out before throwing them into the fryer. Â
I've had two kinds of burgers and a venison sausage here, all of which sounded great on paper, but I ended up having to throw out at least a third of each. Â The most recent venison sausage was a combination of bitter and spicy that just didn't work on any level. Â I took three bites, tried to feed the rest to the dog, who immediately spat it back out. Â This is not a dog with a distinguished palette that you might see in those fancy dog food commercials. Â This dog has happily eaten a box of crayons accidentally left on a table. Â
I really want to root for this establishment, the menu sounds amazing, but they will need to really work on their recipes or else they will be shutting down soon enough.
So we go specifically to try this place. We have recently passed this place a few times and the 7" burger on a pretzel roll advertised caught his eye. He had a hankering for a burger and wanted to try. First off. Cash Only! Â We asked the lady where a nearest cash station was and she points at the walgreens. So my husband goes, we order. He comes back wondering how much the bill was because the atm was out of order and could only get $20 in the check out line at the walgreens. Then she says she's able to take credit!!?? We ask her why she didn't say that originally?? She said she did, but he left to fast. LOL Okay, to be honest she barely speaks english and it's very awkward ordering because you don't know if she understands or not and can't communicate.
We wait for what seems like an eternity in a fairly warm shop (doors open, no ac, just a fan). When our food comes out we chuckle because the 7" burger on a pretzel roll is really on a 7' hoagie type of pretzel roll. They literally cut a burger in half and assemble it to look like a sub sandwich. My daughter ordered mozz. sticks and pizza puff (i know, all bad for you)...but they were both pretty over cooked. You could tell it would taste good if it wasn't so over done.
Our fries were fresh cut, but DARK, like overcooked...but soggy and VERY over salted. Burger was good. Bacon on it good. Not greasy, fresh lettuce, tomato, onion...just a little odd eating it on a hoagie roll.
Don't think I would really eat here again. It was hot and muggy in the place. The lady behind the desk seemed clueless and you coudn't communicate with her. Food was decent, but over cooked...and the advertisement a little misleading. You would think a 7" hamburger would be on a ROUND pretzel roll. Oh, and his came with an egg on it and it was totally cooked. Not a little runny like you usually get on a burger with egg.
Don't bother trying it. I could think of a bunch of other places that are better.
