IT'S HIP TO BE RECTANGLE!
I was attending an event and I saw rectangular pizza boxes arrive. Â What? Â Where's the normal square pizza box? There is no way a round pizza was fitting in there. I was really curious to see this odd shaped pizza.
I helped set up the food and I opened up the box and the rectangle pizza was piping hot. Â Talk about fast and hot delivery. I then looked at the cover and thought...what is jet's? I've never heard of them ever.
I tried a bite and was really surprised at how good the pizza was. There was a lot of bread and crust and it reminded me of a Sicilian type of pizza. It was really close in taste to a chain I went to in high school called Rocky Rocco's. I loved at how greasy the crust was from Jet's. If the crust would have been dry, I would have hated that. Â And it would have been a deal breaker.
Both cheese and pepperoni pizzas were ordered. I had a few bites of the pepperoni and I think I might order this pizza again. They do have a nice Yelp check in offer!
This is not your traditional Chicago style pizza. Â It's not a thin crust and it's not a deep dish pizza. Â It has it's own style and sometimes it is good to think outside the pizza box. Â I'm glad I was able to try Jet's because I would have probably never ordered from here on my own.
Thanks Jet's for surprising me!
I'm just another Michigan transplant ecstatic about having Jet's Pizza back in their life. Â Haven't had since I moved to Chicago in 2010 and it was the same delicious Jet's I always had at home. Don't get me wrong, I love the extra-cheesy Chicago style deep dish, but I did miss the option of Detroit's doughier-yet crispy-deep dish.
Square/eight corner is the one you want. If you're feeling bold, add turbo crust. I get extra sauce, too, because I'm a saucy kind of person. But that's just me.
Ordered via website Friday night @ about 7, delivery time was quoted 45 minutes and it was about 5-10 minutes early, which was nice. Delivery guy was friendly. Pizza was hot and fresh. He didn't forget my diet coke, either, which seems to happen at a lot of other places. The price was the same, or maybe even less, than the mediocre pizza chains I used to order from (Pizza Hut, Papa John's). All in all, I'm impressed. Even for a Michigander.
I generally do not put a lot of faith in Michiganders (mainly transplants) because most of them do not know how to drive properly, say stupid things like "Sparty On!", and are just, well, different. Â Oh, they also talk a lot about Jet's Pizza, too. Â
Finally, something they got right.
Thursday night was my second attempt at ordering Jet's; I tried Wednesday, but the "45 to an hour-45" time window left a bit too much grey area for someone who was starving. Â When I called Thursday for my order and spoke with Yoli (sp? sweet as a peach) and she told me the window was 60-75 minutes, that worked. Â Funny how phrasing something differently is such a game-changer. Â
Per Michigander recommendations, I went with the 8 Corner pizza, half pepperoni, half sausage, and an order of Jet's bread. Â The crust was thicker than expected - two pieces and I was pretty full. Â The outer crust similar to that of Pequod's. Â The sauce was sweeter than my liking, but a few spices from my cabinet created a combination that hit the spot. Â For a side, I got the Jet's bread done original style and it was a fan favorite among the household. Â I would venture to say the best cheesy bread I have had so far. Â I am unsure the difference between this and the triple cheese turbo stix, since you can get garlic butter on the side, but they're a buck cheaper, so nom away, biiiiiitchez.
Echoing Jeff S., those of you driving down the rating for this place because you were dumb enough to order on SuperBowl Sunday, you should be ashamed, and give Jet's another chance. Â Sure, pizza in this city is a dime a dozen, but this place is a winner, and this happy customer will gladly order again.
*$8.99 large pizza with Yelp check-in!
*If they do not deliver to your area, there is plenty of parking for pick up. Â Oh, and that'll save you delivery time and fee.
