Gallaghers Bar

Best breakfast for the best value!  Yes it's  where the local's hang out, so you may not be treated like one right away, however within minutes of being there, the staff makes you feel like you are part of the family.  It's not every bar/restaurant where the owner herself takes your orders and severs you food.  And if you're lucky you'll get a hug and a kiss on the cheek! Definitely a great place good home cooked meals.  And while the kitchen closes at 12pm on Sunday's, they've got you covered with $1.25 burgers, complete with onions if you'd like!

I really like this place. Kinda old school sconie bar in west Saint Paul. Cheap booze, north woods interior. Service is friendly and fun. I recommend coming on weekends. The food specials are great. Burgers are consistently good. Simple. Makes me warm and fuzzy in the winter.

I had been to Gallaghers after turning 21 11 years ago and had a round or two f screwdrivers and a beer; the bartender at that time was Woodie and a very nice guy he was.  I returned on this recent visit to the twin cities twice and tried the food.  The first visit, I had the prime rib with hash browns; tender with crispy greasless hash browns and fresh vegetables with a horseradish sauce that was not overpowering yet had a kick.  The salad was fresh with blue cheese dressing mmmmmm.  Our server, despite it being her forth day, was on top of things.  Round it off with a cold Honey Vice and you will not be disappointed.  The second visit, I had their blue cheese burger which was tender on a fresh bun with fried onions and onion rings instead of fries which were crispy and greasless.  We had a different waitress who was so full of pep and I had me two Honey Vices to round off the meal.  There was some live entertainment on both visits which I don't remember before as it was a juke box which they still have as well.  I intend to return again and try more entrees like the sirloin and Gallaghers royal as my uncle said its his fave for burgers.  So, for excellent food and drinks in a casual lively atmosphere with friendly service at reasonable prices, Gallaghers cannot be beat.  Keep up the good work guys.!
