I haven't been to the sirloin room since I was a kid and came for my granny's birthday, but my good buddy and her fiance live right down the street and this is clearly THEIR place. They know the regulars (and ARE the regulars), the karaoke jockey adores them and they got hugs and high fives upon entering the bar. It was absurd, in the best way.
I was there for a karaoke birthday on Friday, and we saaaaang it up. That is, after a hopeful contestant filmed his audition tape for The Voice. That happened. It really happened.
While we were waiting for the filming to end and the party to start, my friends and I grabbed some beers and buffalo wings and cheese fries. The food is simple bar fare, probably more around three stars. The beer selection is actually great though, very craft-centric with some local stuff (hello Fulton and Surly) and some interesting non-local breweries too.
It wasn't too busy, so everybody seemed to get a chance to sing easily. The song books aren't the most organized binders in the land, but they do have most of the big hits!
Note to the guy that "sang" Down With The Sickness by Disturbed: Pick a new song, I BEG OF YOU.
