Great neighborhood Bar. I have a lot of respect when i see the owners walking around greeting the guests and also helping serve or whatever needs to be done.
The specials are a great price. I eat out at a lot of restaurants and I enjoy going to support our local places. The food is a more upscale bar food. I enjoy Monday nights the best as they have a filet that is awesome at only $12.95 with potato green beans and a salad. If you enjoy a good salad dressing then you need to get the homemade Black Cherry. OMG it is the best.
I always see people I know there and it just gives you an upscale feel of being in a bar. Plus i can smoke my cigar outside on the patio in just a certain area.
On my way home I can call in a take out order and just pull up and they come running with the order. Great for on the go.
I'm glad I said, "yes" to attending George's Neighborhood Grill. The food was lip-smacking good. The grill definitely gives off that formal business attire vibe. The black décor sparkled with elegance. The huge booths stood out to me along with the nice sized tables as well. The atmosphere makes you feel older. Hmm... the eatery just has a mature feel to it. Anyways, George's Neighborhood Grill is a flavorsome spot.
Review Source:This place is GREAT for lunch! Stop by, never too busy. Ask for Molly, Jameson or Christopher, the best servers in the joint. I personally recommend getting the breaded chicken sandwich. The breast is so huge that you have to cut it in half! Well worth the price, get a side of buffalo sauce to give it some extra zing.
In the mood for a burger? Ask if the California burger is in! (seasonal). It comes with avocado, super tasty.
Featuring local musical acts during the evenings, come sit in the bar for an adult beverage, watch the game (on silent) and listen to music.
Have a big group? Ask to reserve one of their banquet rooms to the right of the restaurant.
Have kids? There is a small game room with a half dozen or so arcade games to keep the kids entertained if you'd like.
Patio seating makes outside dining very nice in the spring and early fall.
If you happen to see Jim or Karen George (the brother/sister owner team), tell them My Car Doc sent ya!

Smelled like carny pee!
So, my girl and I go into this place for a quick dinner on a weekday night. Â The minute we walk in the place smells like carnival pee ruminated in a corner somewhere. Â We sit down hesitant for obvious reasons. Â Our server was rude to say the least. Â We decide to try just an appetizer in order to test the kitchen. Â We order the "homemade" hummus with veggies. Â The menu stated homemade, but that could not have been further from the truth. Â It tasted take pureed hummus from a can. Â Needless to say, we will not be back.
Wow, returned to George's last night. Â First, it was extremely busy on a Thursday night, so it must be doing something right. Â But wow, was it unpleasant. Â It took 25 minutes for the server to take our order. Â She came out with an armful of drinks, spilling their contents as she walked. Â She cleared tables in the roughest manner imaginable, at one point flinging a fork toward our table. Â The expediter brought us someone else's food. Â On top of that, there were tons of children running around (so yes, it's kid friendly). Â There's a game room that was piled high with chairs - apparently now being used as a storage room, although the games were turned on. Â In fact, the whole corridor leading to the restrooms was cluttered and unattractive. Â The band in the bar sounded pretty good.
Review Source:George's is a great place, always a crowded parking lot. It is a nice atmosphere with a dining room and bar in separate rooms. You can be in the bar enjoying live music and not realize at all what is going on in the dining room and vice versa. They have tv's in both rooms and are good at accomodating larger groups. They have some private rooms available for meeting groups etc.
The food is good, they have a pretty good variety of American Grill type of food. They have daily specials. The owners are always walking around greeting folks and making sure things are going well. They take pride in what they do and want folks to be happy and enjoying their time.
Neighborhood Grill is a good fit for the place. Good for families and for adults wanting to feel away from the family scence in the bar.
I ordered the Reuben, which was decent, but nothing over the top. Anita loved her tenderloin sandwich, and said it was the best she'd had (better than CR Heroes???? How can that be?). Service was really good and attentive. I'll have to try something else off the menu before deciding if I love this place or not.
Review Source:Food is slightly better than standard Indy pub fare...a wee bit better than the chains. Â Not a heck of a lot of imagination in/on the menu.
Indy just cannot get away from the fresh out of the bag from sysco food offerings.
Wine offerings are surprisingly pretty interesting.
Service as has been mentioned before....is abysmal.
Overall....a very nice addition to the area...food is better than average.... locally owned...servers and bartenders are nice...just out of it !
I love finding new spots that are not in the chain restaurant industry.
George's gives you a family bar and grill feel, but because it offers you the bar area, I can get away from the families. Â I don't have children, so i don't want to listen to them whine at dinner or get hit with bread-stick tantrum crossfire.
We were here on a live music night. Â Other then the one chick that was drunk and acting retarded, it was a great experience... she was acting like a drunk college girl groupie in the front of the bar. I am just a little too beyond that scene.
We enjoyed the meal, a little pricey for a neighborhood bar and grill, but I didn't mind for the high quality. Would deff do the jalapeno poppers again!
I went to Georges on an impromptu lunch date with a dancer friend one saturday after performing at the binford farmers market. I was pretty happy to see that they have a gluten free menu that was incorporated into the regular menu. I was a little sad to see that it was essentially salads for lunch and steaks for dinners - something common to any restaurant, but it is nice they tried. Not feeling like having a salad, i had a burger, no bun (not marked gf because the entree came with a bun). The burger was good and my friend enjoyed her sandwich. I might go back again when i am nearby wanting a salad, especially since they have really nice outside seating.
Review Source:To be very clear, I only signed up on here to rate this place. Past experiences have only been so so. Tonight it was horrible ! Food is average which is not my complaint. The service always sucks!! Tonight we saw the server only in the early beginning of meal. Then she disappeared . 4 other people showed up at various times and yet we still went with out drinks or follow up in case we needed anything else . Finally My table mate wet to find Mr George . Who apologized at first but then decided to start tearing down our concerns by telling us he has had nothing but complements all evening . Not good Jim!!! If you want terrible service, so so food and an owner who's not concerned with your experience then head on over to George's
Review Source:I love the fact that this is not a chain restaurant and it is doing so well. The reason I am not giving it a higher rating is because I have had some sub-par experiences. The first time we went for a meal we hung out in the bar. It was not a busy day and the service was really bad. We had to go up to the bar and order our drinks after 10 minutes of waiting and watching 3 servers chat amongst each other. Food was not very good at this visit. (it was a 1 star visit for sure) that was about 9 months ago.
I am so happy to report that things have changed a lot since that first visit.
I have met friends here for girls night 3 times since that first experience and the service has been great. The live music is pretty good and Fat Tire bier on draft makes me happy. The food is a step up from bar food, nothing fancy but I am not looking for fancy at a local pub. I have had to send food back for being prepared wrong, but the serves and owner went out of the way to make it right.
Like most people I am looking for a friendly environment close to home with good cold bier and decent eats at an affordable price. Georges meets all the above. Looking forward to spending some more time and giving an updated rating!!
George's is locally owned and operated and it just keeps getting better and better.  For you beer lovers, there's Bells and other crafts on tap.  The last time I went there solo I tried the tasty  fish tacos and they were very good and a great value.  George's features a good, solid menu.  I've been there several times for dinner a few times with friends.  One time, we had a hankering for Sangria for some odd reason, and they were happy to oblige us: what a nice surprise!  I hear it's a great place for gatherings, too.  George's is in the top of its class of mid-range, all-purpose restaurants.  It will be interesting to see how it evolves.
Review Source:Given the other reviews, I was somewhat surprised when my group decided to hold a dinner meeting here. Â The space was pretty intimate. Â The male wait staff we had was nice. Â However, the lady who assisted him in bringing out the entrees was obnoxious and unprofessional. Â Once, the meeting started and she began to deliver entrees she'd make remarks like who is that smelling so good. Â It really is a nice scent. Â OMG! Â We are in the middle of a meeting. Â The other guy came quietly and left. Â But, not so bad as to ruin the evening!
I ordered the blackened salmon and mashed potatoes with a side salad and water. Â The total was $18 bucks and some change. Â The salmon was wonderful. Â However one of my fellow dinners commented the salad was Dole - straight out the bag. Â I thought it was fine for a side salad. Â
The owner and his wife came in and thanked on for coming to their restaurant which I thought was really nice.
They have free Wii-fi which is a nice plus! Â Great location. Â Right off of 465. Â
They have a variety of options from burgers to steaks to pasta to fish.
The food was good, at least the breaded tenderloin, but the young woman who was our server ( I think her name was Lisa) needs to learn more about proper service techniques and etiquette before she can be proficient. Â I met two friends and came with another from out of town, and after about an hour into the 2 1/2 hours were were there she came sparingly. I asked for a certain non alcoholic drink and she snorted "We don't have that!" Â Excuse me. Â I also asked for a water refill, and she took my original glass (which hadn't been used for a half-hour and had melted ice water in it) and poured water out of a pitcher into it. Â Gross and unsanitary. Â I asked for a fresh glass, but the next time she appeared it was for our bill. Â Luckily for her, because I was designated driving my out-of-town friend, he paid for my food. Â After he paid, there were no thank-yous or have a nice evenings from this server. Â Unprofessional and rude. Â I would have had a problem tipping this individual the customary amount - if anything.
Review Source:Opening in 2007, George's fills a void in an area where not much dining exists. A casual restaurant and bar with contemporary design, it is perfect for people on the northeast side. The menu is nothing special, but it's good. I definitely enjoyed the wings and salad that I ordered.
The bar area is large, and multiple flat-screen TVs make watching a game a great experience here. They always have the local games on (e.g. IU basketball, Colts, Â Pacers) and you can sit at the bar, or at one of the high-top tables or booths.
The dining area is also sizeable, and the restaurant also has a private room for groups to rent. Â The place is non-smoking, and it's a great place to take kids during the day.
It's always exciting when a new locally-owned restaurant opens, so needless to say, Binford Boulevard was buzzing with excitement when George's Neighborhood Grill opened. But the excitement was met with a bit of a letdown once we actually ventured over to try it out. While the decor is fun and classy with exposed pipe ceilings and a lot of black and brown in the color scheme, the food didn't pack the punch we were hoping for. A quick survey of a few of our friends found the same reactions: "Service wasn't great." "Food was cold." "A bit run-of-the mill." One of our friends ordered the onion straws appetizer and said what came to the table was not what she expected at all, and they were cold. I had a fried chicken salad, which was huge, but it didn't have enough chicken on it at all. My husband got the salmon, but wasn't thrilled. The frozen salmon we buy at Sam's Club and grill in the back yard is much better.
