Awesome place to go and watch concerts. It's to bad that they are shutting it down soon just because of the Harry Potter attraction. (lame). Well I came to see the Old School Freestyle Concert. This last Friday. I got backstage passes and I was able to enjoy myself with my friends and family.
Must have passes to get backstage.
I got decent seats for $50 all the way in the side but not complaining but when I went to the concession stand I couldn't BELIVE the prices! The WTF I got a powerade that WAS 4.75 popcorn that was 6.00 and a water that was 4.50 my bill was $15.25 It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you're getting ripped off!
Review Source:Ive lived in the area all 38 years of my life and i have to say that i looooove The Gibson. Wheather you call it The Gibson or Universal Ampitheatre...its an awesome venue. Ive seen soooo many bands here from Blondie to Nine Inch Nails to Janes Addiction to Stryper to Poison to Motley Crue to The Scorpions The Cars to even The Blue Man Group. I dont like to even see a band live unless they are here. So i was bummed as hell when i heard their closing. So when i saw Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson were touring and playing here, i had to go to it so i could say farewell to a excellent venue. Goodbye old friend...i will truly miss you.
Review Source:First time at the Gibson Amphitheater. Came to see NO DOUBT!!! :D
This place is small, nice & I got to see Gwen up close which was GREAT! You get a great view if your in the front row or back!
The place is pricey but it was well worth it!! Â Great vibe, the drinks there are strong & I don't have nothing bad to say about this place.
I will definitely come back!
I LOVE YOU GWEN!!!!
BEST NIGHT EVER!!!!
History in the making....catch one of the last shows at this excellent indoor concert venue as at the end of summer it ramps down to make room for the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter which will change tourism to Los Angeles. Â A game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood as the park starts construction in the fall of WWOHP.....I can't wait! Â Although I will miss this intimate concert setting....it is the greater good to drive tourism into Los Angeles to stimulate the economy. Â More things for Angelenos to do, more tourism, more jobs....all good....
If you haven't seen a concert here before...I recommend that you do before end of summer. Â A great concert venue with lots of history, great staff, and great amenities. Â
Gibson Amp you will be missed but LA is waiting anxiously for WWHOP!
I LOVE the Gibson Amphitheatre!
I've been there a total of two times - once for Almost Acoustic Christmas and the second was for Kevin and Bean's April Foolishness so two KROQ events.
I thought this location worked great for both too. I don't think you can get "bad" seats here either! The whole location feels really personal because it isn't too big.
There are plenty of places before going to your seats where you can buy food or drinks too - lots of options. It was kept pretty clean when I was there too.
This is a great venue! Kind of an intermediate between small and larger venues, as it does hold a lot of people but the views are great no matter where you are. The entrance is kind of hidden- a bit behind the side of the Universal Studios entrance, before the strip of shops. Stage is not that big, though. The pit is extremely small, but the seats are fine (and have cup holders). I've been here for 2 KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas' and it did not disappoint. Plus side (for me, at least) is its location- finally I don't have to go outside of the valley for a concert lol. Convenient as well since you can shop/eat at Citywalk before the show. Always a good time/worth it.
Review Source:LOVE LOVE LOVE IT HERE!!
Hubby and I saw No Doubt here when they were in town and it's a smaller venue which makes it so much better for bigger bands!! The parking can kinda be funky since you will have to pay a pretty big chunk since it's at Universal. We stayed at a hotel nearby and took a cab which was WAY easier.
The drinks and food here are definitely pricey. I would eat at Citywalk before hand and they just get a few drinks here. They have a couple good deals.
Ticket prices depend on who you see. I think it's decently priced for the type of venue it is.
I want to see No Doubt again! Best concert I've ever been to!! Hopefully, they come back here again.
My husband and I went to the MLK concert here last night--Klymaxx, Dazz Band, LTD, S.O.S. Band, Ohio Players, and Cameo performed.
I have serious complaints about the sound, lighting, and camera technicians. The mix was terrible on all but one of the bands. Â If there was a solo, the sound engineer would turn the instrument up way too late, if at all. The house lights were up sometimes during performances. The lighting tech left some band members in the dark and never seemed to have the spotlight on the right performers. The venue has two jumbo screens to supposedly enhance the concert experience. However, Â the camera operators were clueless. They hardly ever focused on the right person at the right time. It was so frustrating!
On a positive note, the venue was nice and entering and exiting was hassle-free. We found our seats easily and they were comfortable--even had cup holders. The bathrooms were clean--there was a super nice bathroom attendant near the Door 7 entrance. There were several places to buy drinks and food, so the lines were quick and the food came out fast and fresh. I had a draft beer ($10!) and chicken fingers with fries($7.50).
Despite the technical issues, I still enjoyed the show. Three stars.
I've been coming here since the early 90's. Â This place hasn't changed much. Â It's a great place for a concert.
Who I've seen here...
KROQ's FIRST Acoustic Christmas
Jane's Addiction
Go Go's
UB40
Fine Young Cannibals
Erasure (I HEART them)
Pet Shop Boys
Mary's Danish
and recently No Dout
When I remember the rest (that's age) I'll add it. Â lol
This review is for 12/28/2012. It has been many years since I have been to Universal City's Venue. Over the years, I still remember the place as Universal Amphitheater. I still do to this day. I received a ticket to watch comedian, Gabriel Iglesia's at the Unive...I mean Gibson Amphitheater.
Gibson Ampitheater is located right on Universal Studios and Citywalk. General Parking is $10. Since I was attending a show on a Friday Night, the night life was extremely packed especially with the clubs at CityWalk. If you decide to take the free tram, do note the hours of operations
Gibson Amphitheater entrance crosses path with Waterworld's Entrance. Just make sure you are attending YOUR show and not the Mariner's show :) A lot of the audience that waited early, had to wait about 40 minutes before getting to the amphitheater. I wish they had heaters in line since it was like in the 50s, maybe 40s.
Once the staff scan your ticket, you have the option of getting food/drinks inside or outside. Do note that this is not a circular venue. So, most of the vendors are located at one area. Crowding and exiting will be a problem. I got myself a Bud Light ($10). Yeah, almost close to Dodger Stadium prices. I saw popcorn, but I dare not ask how much they were.
The Gibson Amphitheater seems really huge to me. The seats were comfortable, but the views can be obstructed if you have a taller person if front of you. Sorry to the people who were behind me. I wish Gibson can elevate the chairs to have a better view.
Gibson Amphitheater is nice to attend for a smaller type venue that Staples Center wouldn't seem appropriate for. Just pretend this is a bigger version of high school gym's auditorium with a much better sound system.
Yelp is my Review, My Story, and My Life. It's time to share it.
Attended the KROQ Acoustic Christmas 2012 with my wife at this theater and although I have always heard about this place, it was a first time.
-Parking is easy: just park in the Universal City Boardwalk parking, skip the VIP parking, its only a short walk through the boardwalk to get to the theater entrance
-Bring food/water in because the food choices is not that great inside the theater (just chicken tenders, garlic fries, beer, and hot dogs)
-Having said that, food is not bad inside the theater, a bit expensive as expected
-Theater is very spacious with numerous entrances
-First floor seating (even in all the way back) is better than second floor seating
-The sound system, lights, are great
-Best of all, instead of a venue like Staples Center, this is smaller and gives you the more intimate feeling
First off, this place smells.
It smells like farts, and cigars, and sweaty men. But then again I was there to see Rush. But not even the flowering beauty that is Geddy Lee and his angelic voice could cover up the stench of so many sweaty Rush fans and the fans of shows past.
Apparently the Gibson is used to having so many men trample all over the place they converted one of the ladies rooms into another men's rooms... so there you go.
However I still kind of like the place. Would I go back? Sure. I really enjoyed the location and proximity to the hotel we were staying at and there are a million places to go to for a pre-show dinner at Universal City.
In the days of my youth, I attended several concerts here, and most recently I came to see The Brian Setzer Orchestra. Â They certainly got our feet to tappin and our heads a bobbin! Â And Brian Setzer does some amazing guitar solos! Â The opening act, Totsy, was quite fun as well. Â We came home and downloaded their music from I- tunes. Â
For an older venue, this theatre is still in good shape except for those annoying details such as not enough women's restrooms, restrooms only on the lower level, concessions only on the lower level, and stair only access to the upper level. Â To be ADA compliant, I know there must be an elevator here somewhere, but the ignorant or unsympathetic usher alleged that there wasn't one when my 73 old mom struggled up and down those stairs.
Aside from the conveniences of a modern venue, this place is not bad. Â Great seats everywhere unless you are in the first row right behind the pit -- then you will have to stand because all those pit peeps will be standing or going nuts in there, certainly blocking the view. Â Lots of parking in the structure, and plenty of restaurants and shops in the city walk which you will be forced to walk through because the amphitheater is at the very end of this massively long tourist trap! Â Some people like this, some not so much. Â Me, not so much because if you are in a hurry to make it to the concert on time, it is difficult to walk through the throngs of people who seem to bring their entire family clan and want to dominate every horizontal inch of the walk way as they stroll at a snail's pace taking in all the unique, one of a kind, neon signs of corporate retail and corporate chain restaurant America. Â If there were some kind of people mover, walkway above the crowds to the venue, or escalator directly to venue, we might come here more often. Â At this point, only worth coming for our favorite artists.
I love going to concerts here!
- There really isn't a bad seat since it so small.
- You are inside with AC/heater, which is great for a long show like Acoustic Xmas.
- Bathroom and concession lines are relatively short and well maintained.
- Pre-drinks and dinner are easy since you are in the Citywalk.
- The preferred parking is a lot closer to the venue (only $5 more)
I came here for KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas Night 2. Parking is at Universal City Walk and was $15. The good thing about this venue is that it's located right by citywalk so you can shop and eat at one of the restaurants before the show starts and avoid paying tons of money for the concessions. (Although the prices at the citywalk restaurants are a little inflated - tourist trap prices).
The doors opened at 3 and show started at 5. Since we had reserved seats, we didn't end up going in until about 4:30 and we were fine.
We had tickets in the mezzanine section. It was still a pretty good view, despite the fact that we were so high up. I will say that the atmosphere at the concert was dead in my section. Everyone kind of sat still in their seats and took pictures on their phones. The show was seven hours long!
We ended up going down toward the front and stayed there for about half of the show and we really liked the atmosphere a lot better. The performers were amazing! No Doubt showed up as the surprise guest and my boyfriend - being a huge ND fan - was thrilled! Overall, a great experience, a great venue, but I do think the atmosphere in the mezzanine section is a little lacking.
Went to the No Doubt concert on December 4th & 6th. Never been to this venue before and it was GREAT! Outside near the entrance of the Gibson Amphitheater were local radio stations blasting rock to pop music from their tents, Bubba Gump Seafood were giving our samples of their spinach & artichoke dip and a tent set up for t-shirt & sweatshirt purchases.
The No Doubt was amazing from the mezzanine level. They rocked, such great energy and interaction with the crowd.
After the show- walking through the Universal Amusement Park was like having the park to yourself.
Great intimate venue. Â Saw night 1 of the KROQ acoustic Christmas. Â Killer lineup; Â Rise Against, Linkin Park, Bush, and AWOLnation, they all killed it.
Why do I like this venue? Â All seats are descent, some are great, but all are OK. Â Plenty of food options, not anything amazing once inside, typical concert fare. Â BUT, if you get there early you can eat at one of the many restaurant choices at the City Walk.
Beers are concert priced, but they do have various options. Â They also serve shots, Patron anyone!? Â Always a good time at Gibson, they usually get great bands also.
Great venue. The view of the stage, the seats and leg room, the sound system were all great.
The woman's bathroom line was ridiculous. I don't know if it's because there was that many more women that night (No Doubt on Sunday) or if there's not enough bathrooms, or what? It was clean though. I did notice they converted one of the men's bathrooms to a woman's for the night, as there was a temporary sign put up, and there were urinals in the bathroom. Â
The only thing I could note is that the parking is shared with City Walk. I can imagine how crazy it could get to come on a Friday or Saturday to see a concert, with the Universal Studios and the City Walk crowd, along with the concert crowd.
Tip: The churros suck, but the nachos and fries looked good.
A week ago, I was here for the No Doubt "Seven Nights in LA" mini tour. It was night #2. I havent been here in ages. I think the last time I was here was for Mariah Careys "Music Box" tour back in 1993. So its been a good 9 years to the day since I've been here. Â
I got my tickets thru the ND Fan club (before they went on sale to the public) and it was "Will Call" only. So I left 3hrs before the first act was supposed start. I got there (no traffic as I took the 210/134 back route and was surprised by the parking prices. General parking is $15 and Premium is $20 which is on a level that leads directly into the center of City Walk. I went with the $20. Its still a hike over to the entrance of the Amphitheater, but I guess its not as bad as General parking.
Got to the end of City Walk where the Amphitheater is located and theres a line about 60 people deep. It was freezing standing out there (it was only about 4:30pm). So the waiting game starts. They didnt start letting us in til about 5:20. The walk way going into the will call area wasn't too bad, but I felt bad for the ladies in high heels lol.
Once you get your tickets, you have to walk a bit to get to the entrance. First stop, hit the restroom. Theres not very many for the guys. I think 3. Its clean & nicely maintained. I then hit up 2 concession stands to get a drink, the first had no one there except the cooks. The cook looks out and says "the cashiers are in a meeting and will be out in 15 mins". Really? Doors open and the concession stands go have a meeting? I goto the next and the same thing. This time the cook tells me theres refreshments outside and theyre ready. So thats what I do. Drinks are your normal "overpriced" concert prices.
Its not very hard to find your entrance door as they are broken down by sections. I was in section 1 row AA (very front right after the pit area). So, the doors finally open to get seated. and people are running down the stairs like its a black friday sale - and then I realized those people are in the pit. So I moved over into the slow lane so I dont get run over. Find my seat and sat my ass down. The seats aren't as comfortable as I read in other reviews. I mean theyre not uncomfortable, but they are worn and dated. They've seen better days. Theres also a rail for those sitting in the front, so theres not much leg room.
Acoustics are great there. Sound was good for all the acts.
The one thing I would like for them to fix is the exit. We're like a herd of cows moo'ing along at a super slow pace as the place empties. Its almost as bad as the Irvine Amphitheater. Other than that its a nice venue for a concert. Just wear comfortable shoes for the hike.
Sat in assigned seating, back of first section. Â We saw The Shins. Â They were amazing. Â
Venue is alright with decent sound, however the corporate advertising is annoying (on screens next to stage in between acts) and you have to park in same lot as universal city walk and then proceed to walk to the venue. Â Which is fine on a tuesday but could be annoying on a weekend night.
They sell alcohol. Â They had many bars open. Drinks are medium to high in price range.
The Shins (5 stars)
The Venue (3 stars)
I have been here many times and had many different experiences, but I am just going to base my review on my last experience here. Â When to see the Smashing Pumpkins on 10/14.
One of the great things about this venue is the location.. much like LA Live, you can park (well, it costs a ridiculous amount of money to park, but you can park), go out to dinner, do some window shopping and then leisurely stroll into the show when you feel like it (aka, when the opening band you had no desire to see is off stage ;) Â )
USUALLY the venue is very comfortable, but for some reason on this particular night someone decided to set the A/C at "we want you sweat" and the seats we bought turned out to be completely obstructed view because of a projected mounted on top of the sound board. Â Here's the good part.. I went to the administrative office and they immediately gave us upgraded seats when I explained where i was sitting and they realized that the projector (which wasn't part of the plan they were given) was blocking our view of the stage. Â
Unfortunately, the ungraded seats had a different problem (not within control of the admin office). Â The rather large guy two rows in front decided he wanted to stand and dance in his seat, completely blocking out view.
I decided to take a break from being annoyed and grab a water. Â Not only is it $4.25 for a small bottle of water, but you can't have the bottle.. they have to pour it into a cup for some unknown reason.. but they will let you put a cap on the cup. Â I am told they don't let you have the bottle b/c they don't want people throwing the bottles on stage.. Â guess what? Â I If I wanted to throw it, I can throw the cup just as effectively, especially with a lid on it.
Okay.. tired of being really warm and just seeing some guys back, we decide we've had enough... my wife just wants to stop at the bathroom.
While waiting for her, I find a little oasis. Â The door next to section 22 is open and even though I had far better seats, from here I can actually SEE the stage AND we are getting a nice cool breeze from outside. Â My wife comes over and we decide to hang out here and just watch the show through the open door...
Then the troll comes along... this very angry looking older woman who refuses to make eye contact with us just pushes passed us and closes the door so we can no longer see the show.
Shaking our heads, we just reopened the door, went inside and stood in the aisle for the rest of the show, which turned out to be much better than our very good/expensive seats.
In the end, just a completely mixed experience. Â Great job with the administrative offered who cured our obstructed view problem, but the venue was strangely and unreasonably warm.. charging you over $4 for a water and then not letting you have the bottle is just silly.. and then once we found a great place to watch the show from, having an employee just slam the door in our face was simply rude.
I've sat front row and felt like a rock star near the stage. Â I've also sat in the very back row on the balcony level where the sound is still terrific and the view really not bad at all (and a whole lot less beans, too). Â I've seen rock, jazz, pop, latin, comedy, and even attended an MTV Music Awards a few years ago -- Â all were great! Â It's smaller than many other venues, so it gives it a more intimate experience. Â You may also know this under its former name, the Universal Amphitheater.
The parking is expensive but ample. Â The only real downside to coming to the Gibby is that you have to park far, and walk even farther. Â Okay for the guys, but difficult in high heels for the gals (and cross-dressers). This the one-star demerit.
The only real tip I have for you is park once at Universal, and make a full evening by having dinner before, or after, the show somewhere along the Citi Walk....and break up the long walk that way. http://www.citywalkholly…
The walk to the theater sucks from the parking. The walk through Universal City Walk is fun if you don't mind pretending to be a fullback for a small running back.
The theater is small, acoustically challenged and fun from any seat. Go when the band is not crazy famous and you will sit wherever you like.
Staff is helpful. Rules are lax. Seating is comfortable. Sound works. Bass from instruments rattles camera so the big screen is like a ride at Universal, but who cares.
Have fun and go if you can.
Saw Dead Can Dance here. Wish they'd come back... again.
The employees were friendly. They seemed to have a good system down.
The biggest problem is that their video is not steady, so the screen shots were wobbling and dizzying. You'd think they'd invest in equipment that would hold it secure, since music does tend to make things bump around.
Stick with beer. Don't get the margarita: so much sugar you'll crash before the concert begins!
I'm not really a fan of concerts, but the past weekend I went to watch Roxette (yes, I'm old school), it was awesome. I was expecting an outdoor theater because of the term amphitheater, but instead it was indoor with full blast AC when the outside temperature was above 90 degrees. It just felt awesome to be inside.
The smallness of the size made the surround sound really amplified to the max. I really loved it. I paid $20, got a nice seat at loge 10, right in the middle facing the stage. The crowds are great, not too overwhelming, and seats are pretty comfy. I also found another fellow yelper watching this concert through check-in. Due to the small size theater, super easy to find people too!!!
I don't mind coming here again for concerts, I'm beginning to enjoy it.
The Fi and I came to see the Last Summer On Earth tour this past Friday and we had great seats. It's been said, but anywhere you sit, you have a great view. I don't need to review the concert.... just the venue....so... I won't get into how old the crowd was and how some people were smoking some ganja. The venue is older but I think it makes it warmer. The place is carpeted and has a much more welcoming feel than other concrete venues. It's very warm and the staff, for the most part is pretty pleasant. They have $15 margaritas and $5 sodas, but that's expected... unfortunately. The acoustics in the place are great and they have two big screens flanking the stage. You'll enjoy it!
I almost forgot... you have to enter the same parking entrance for the theme park and once they here you're there for the Gibson... preferred parking doesn't exist... just general and vip! Scam! But, I love the VIP parking lot because it's more convenient. Parking is $15 in the huge theme park structure (that they sometimes also say is sold out and only vip is available) and you will get spit out into the middle of the City Walk... so if you're wearing high ass, to be seen only shoes... not a good option. Preferred is a structure and you'll take escalators and be on the other side of the globe.... $20... not too bad but more walking. VIP puts you in a flat lot, no escalators, and you'll walk right into the entrance.
WILL CALL is super confusing... look to the theme park ticket booths. They change the signs to read gibson will call.
Was here for FTP show last Sunday, July 1st.
I am a huge fan of Foster The People AND Kimbra. I was pleased that she was added to the LA tour. The magic show in the start was random at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Never have I ever watched magic before a concert, so that was a pretty random, but cool, surprise.
This was my first time at the Gibson. If my little sister, who just attended the One Direction concert few weeks back, wasn't there with me.. I would have probably had a hard time finding it! Don't get me wrong, I have been to Universal Studios and Universal City Walk numerous of times, still I had no clue where the gates to this, almost secret, location.
When we got to the gates, the man checking for tickets (not the scanner person) was very sarcastic. I asked him if I could bring my shopping bag in and he just "smiled" and said, "I need to see your tickets." I asked again, just cause I thought he didn't hear and he answered with the same line but with a more demanding, but "friendly" tone. I don't think he liked us. Frankly, the feelings are mutual.
The rest of the workers and people guiding us were great.
The people selling the shirts were not friendly but they were firm and just wanted to get the job done. Which I didn't mind at all.
Leaving the theater.. The Vitamin Water stands shouldn't be in the middle of the exit. People were pushing and shoving for free bottles, while the other people who didn't care for the drinks were taken along the tide and getting stepped on :(
Inside the amphitheater, our seats were pretty close to the stage but way off to the side. It was a side view of the performance and we could only see about a quarter of the backdrop. Also, the lights in the side were directly shooting at us, it's the same effect as having the sun shine right in your eyes. Also, we didn't have any good pictures because the band was "against the sun". Sigh. NEXT TIME, I know that I'd rather sit far away with a full view than constantly having to lean to the left to see what's going on. Even the screens were not visible from where we were. Definitely obstructed view/seats without my knowledge. Oh well. I came for the music so I still enjoyed it very much. It was like a big dance party.
Â
Other than that, I loveeveeeveed this band and Kimbra so nothing could quite faze me. Overall, I had a good time.
We went here on Friday for the Freestyle concert. Â You will park in the Universal Studios parking lot which offers VIP valet parking to self parking. Â IDK how much the valet parking was, but the "preferred" parking was $15 Â while the general parking was $10. Â Cash and credit card is accepted at the parking booth. Â
Prior to getting to the venue there are security guards doing "pat down" searches just before the entrance. Â We encountered two lines, one line for the females and the other were for males. Â
As you enter the theater you will have numerous lines for all your food and alcohol needs. Â The concession lines nearest to the front entrance were looonngggg so it's a better idea to take a little walk to the outer concession stands to avoid the long lines. Â The prices for the drinks were you normal outrageous drink prices at these venues. Â I believe the mixed drinks were $11 for a single and $18 for a double. Â The beers ranged from $11-13 for a 24 oz. of domestic or import.
The place was sold out and for the most part the performers did great. The only issue I had and the reason for the 3 star review is because during one of the performances, the CD that was playing kept skipping on Trinere and she had to start her song over. Â Although she did great and kept at it, the CD continued to skip on her. Â You would think that when thousands of people are attending a concert and you have professionals performing that you would do us all a courtesy and check the quality of the music you are about to play. Â Maybe something happened beyond their control and they were prepared. Â It sure didn't seem like it. Â Thank God she was actually singing and wasn't caught slippin. Â Other than that, it was a great concert.
Came here to watch Chickenfoot on their last show of the tour, always been a big fan of "Satch" so how could I miss a performance in my own backyard.. Â
Parking is easy enough albeit pricey at $15, Â there is a grip of parking structures for Universal studios and the Citywalk. Â I suggest taking the one closest to the fountain as this offers the least amount of walking to the gates.. Â
The facilities inside are well cared for and still look mint. Â No broken chairs, ripped carpets or weird smells here.. Â The bathrooms and other common areas are clean.. Â Most importantly, the acoustics are superb! Â it doesn't matter where your seat is at this place, you will hear the show the way it was meant to be heard.. Â We were at the 12th row so the view of the stage was great, but I'm sure its adequate even in the upper balcony.
Not sure If this is isolated to the show I went to as I have not been back since. Â But the event planning was impeccable! Â Everything was clearly marked, and the flow of people was smooth and easy. Â Security and the ushers were both competent and helpful, there was never really any ruckus or disorder.. Â That is, aside from what Chad Smith did on stage at the end of the show.. Â
Overall a great experience.. Â Now if only I can see the Beebster here..
I'll admit ... there's something sexy about Gibson Amphitheater that I can't get out of my system. Perhaps, it's its recluse location in Universal City Walk, or the cozy intimate snuggle-close seating, or the rock star status of its guitars ... well whatever it is. Gibson's got this girl hooked. Â
With just a few thousand seats and a smaller stage, its easy to feel at home.
There is no bad seat in the house, even nosebleed section. Tiered seating? Yes, please! We were lucky and got some empty tier 2 seating and it was possibly the best seats I've ever had. Â We watched Trans Siberian Orchestra and it totally immersed me in the story and concert. I'm the type that's easily suckered with pretty lights.
Well done, Gibson! Also, just being a few steps away from Universal City Walk is a plus! Parking is $15.
My first impression was, "In the heart of Universal City Walk, I love that! At the Gibson to watch Bruno Mars!"
A great venue for concerts, especially when keeping it low key and not too crowded and crazy. I like how the seats are wide and comfortable, theater style. This completely beats out cramped plastic chairs at other venues near LA where there is barely enough leg room. The highest seats at Gibson aren't even that far away from the stage. We got really good seats for the Bruno Mars concert and I loved all the lighting too. The concessions at Gibson was probably the best I've seen compared to other venues.
Tip: It's a bit of a walk from the parking structures to the amphitheater so make sure you give yourself ample time before the show to walk over.
The lasting impression? "I love how the Gibson Amphitheater is conveniently next to all the shopping in restaurants of City Walk. Triple the fun, hit all three at once!"
