The room was small and the performer had a dry sense of humor the night I was at Go Bananas.

I love this place.  I prefer it over The Funny Bone chain.  It's more authentic and intimate than other places I have been.

Went last night and had a good time. It's kinda small and intimate but everyone can see and hear just fine. The only flaw is that they don't have a lounge area and you have to go to the bar next door if you get there early. When they say doors open at 9:50 they literally mean you can't even walk in the door before 9:50!

I came here a few days ago for the Underbelly comedy sketches that used to be at Southgate House and have recently moved to Go Bananas.

I had no idea what to expect since I had never seen Underbelly or been to Go Bananas. I was impressed! We were seated right in front of the stage. We were very close, but the stage is low so I didn't have to crane my neck up just to see.

The waitress was very friendly and stayed on top of things the entire. The chicken, oh that chicken..so juicy and delicious. A friend suggested the chicken tenders on the way in the door, so we obviously had to try it. It was a very nice portion for the price. We also ordered chips with cheese and salsa. Just as you may assume, it was nothing fancy. I did not care for the salsa, however, it had a strange flavor that I just simply do not prefer in my salsa.

Also...and this is a big one...they only serve bottle water. Does anyone else think that is crazy?? No? Just me? I declined the bottled water at first because 1. I why would I pay for bottled water when I prefer tap and 2. I was very thirsty and didn't want to purchase three bottles of water just to quench my thirst. Well, I could only hold out about halfway through the chicken tenders before I caved. I ordered a bottle and it was not nearly enough, so I sat that there, insatiated.

But I laughed my ass off the entire time and the chicken was fantastic, so I'll let it slide.

I have been here once, for Amateur Wednesday.  Thought it was a great thing that they do.  The randomness of the new people was pretty funny.

I'd have to argue with the $$$ listing.  While the food and tickets aren't real cheap, they are not bad for a Comedy Club.  The alcohol is where they always get you and this is no exception.  Pregame before and plan for another location after.  We didn't go to the bar next door after but it seems like the two work together for a monopoly on the after-show drinking.

Here you cannot get water for free, only bottled.  Thumbs down for that.

I always have a fun night when I come out to Go Banana's. I dont' have a lot of experience with comedy clubs but this place seems to meet all the requirements! There's not really a bad seat in the house (except for maybe the very front row where the comedians can pick on you,) the food is good (typical bar food,) the drinks are fine as well (beers, spirits, wines.) My only "complaint" is that it always turns into a fairly pricey night. With cover, the two drink min, and the fact that I can't resist their soft pretzels... it definitely adds up.

Go Bananas has the best collection of Comedians in Cincinnati.  Always a great time, with awesome staff.  If you are looking for that classic comedy club feel of the late 80's and early 90's, then this is the place for you.  Their prices are very resonable, and the shows are phenomenal!
They offer Pro/Am nights on Wednesdays, and discount shows for students and military on thursday.
Make Go Banana's your next night out!

Best place for comedy in town. The Funny Bone has it beat only when it comes to the quality of food, but for comedy, Go Bananas is the place to go.

It's a favorite club for comedians and a great cub to go to if you're thinking about doing an open mic and trying your own chops at the art forms.

Don't forget to go next door to McLevy's afterwards. That's where the comedians have a drink and joke around after the show.

Go Bananas is one of Cincinnati's best comedy clubs

It's basically just a giant room with a small stage towards the back and your typical brick wall behind it. Tables are everywhere, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The last show I was all the way in the back of the room and I could still see and hear perfectly.

Tickets are cheap, usually like $12 for a semi-well known comedian. And you have to spend at least $3 on food or drinks, which is a little annoying, but better than other comedy clubs who impose a two-drink minimum. I also wish they had water, but in fact, will only sell you bottled water if you wanted water. Really guys? Really. Oh well.

They also do really nice Pro-AM nights, where for $5 you can see professional and amateur comedians just try stuff out and see how it works. Those are great because you get a nice mix of really great comedy and really terrible comedy, so you appreciate the good stuff more.

It's a little farther away from downtown than, say, Funny Bone, but it's totally worth the drive. I have never been unhappy seeing a show here.

The name is silly, but so is the place, and they own it. For instance, the restrooms are for He-quitas and She-quitas. Lol.

Reserve your seats online (it doesn't cost anything and it takes two seconds) or you might not get seats when you get there. Beyond that, go on, laugh a little you've earned it.

I've been to Go Bananas a few times. The comedy is usually pretty good, even the opening acts. The place is "cozy" as realtors say, and the drinks are a little pricey, as you should expect at a comedy club.

Last time we were there we had the couches in the back, which made us feel extra special VIP-ey.

The service is always very good, with the right amount of attentiveness without feeling pushy or interrupting the show.

They get very nice talent there, but the club is very small and can be hard to maintain a good view on the performer and their drinks are outrageous in price. It was nice there is a decent bar right next door.

This is a fun, small venue with a bit of a warm, family feel to it. The shows are always great and they are heavily involved in the community. It's cool to see how much they promote the local comedians. They also have a lot of options for what I would call cheap shows. These involve special events or the donation of canned goods. Check their website and get on their mailing list. I think this is a great local business to support as they work hard to support local talent.

Always have a good time here! Great date night place!  The drink prices are extremely reasonable.  The only thing I would recommend is to eat before you come.  They have an appetizer menu, but they're not any better quality than you get when you buy items from the freezer in your grocery store.  Other than that, fun place to be!!!

This place is a fun way to spend the evening and have some laughs. Plus it's really cheap entertainment and the drinks are fairly priced. They also offer snacks and desserts if you have the munchies during the show. We have been several times and have seen some pretty good acts; Doug Benson, Bobcat Goldwaith, and the funniest person in Cincinnati contest.

We had a great time on Saturday night! The comedian was very funny. This place is a great, if you are looking for something different to do than a movie. It was $14, but very quality. Get there early to get a seat closer to the stage.

Really, we got to see three comedians. The host (Sally) cracked me up. The opener was my favorite and the headliner stole the show. (I watched his material on-line before we went, which I only advise for one person in the group going to do-for quality control-because they tend to repeat and it is not as funny the second time.)

The club has a great website. Very clear and informative. You can order or reserve your tickets on the site the day of the performance. Very clean bathrooms

The beers (only served in bottles) were $4 a pop (imports) or you can get a bucket (mixed domestics and imports) for a discount, which I think is fine for an entertainment venue. The only downside: they refuse to serve tap water.....seriously? yes. If I pay $14 to see a show and I am parched, one would think a little cup of water wouldn't be too much to ask. Even the movie theater gives you a kid's cup. They already have a minimum drink requirement. Why not hydrate your patrons?

The waitress was nice, but she seemed very busy. It took away from the act when she had to ask about more drinks. Maybe a pen and paper drink menu might be a nice option?

All and all a great experience. Next time, I will drink a lot of water before I leave and order enough drinks at the beginning of the show, so the waitstaff doesn't have to ask in the middle.

Cincinnati doesn't have a lot going for it in the way of comedy clubs. By that I mean, there aren't a whole lot of choices compared to some other cities. While the Cincinnati area does have it's own Funny Bone (a club I also enjoy), there's really nothing like Go Bananas, a local institution in its own right.

Go Bananas is not a chain - it's locally owned and part of a nice collection of shops and restaurants in the Montgomery area. It's this sort of "tucked away" feeling that not only makes in a fun and comfortable place to spend an evening out, but also appeals to comics across the country. Appeal to comics and you GET good comics, which means good business. Luckily, Go Bananas treats their crowds well.

Walking in, you'll notice a number of twisted and humorous paintings from local artist Darin Overholser. Imagine the classic spaghetti-eating scene from Lady and the Tramp, then replace the spaghetti with the export Columbia is best known for aside from coffee, and you'll kind of get an idea of Overholser's work.

Seating works pretty well until you get near the far-left back of the room. The room itself doesn't seem to be designed very well in that sort of "this is what we had to work with" vein, but they make the best with what they have. You're not going to be seated behind a pole or anything, but it also certainly isn't a "every seat is the best seat in the house environment." Luckily, it's a small enough room and the ownership has installed an excellent sound system - you may not be able to see everything depending on where you sit, but you won't miss a word. The sound from the stage is even piped into the restrooms, meaning you won't miss a joke.

You also won't miss a minute because of hecklers or loud table-talk  next to you. Go Bananas is proud of their fan-friendly image and don't take kindly to folks ruining the show for others. If you're planning on showing up there to get drunk and "be part of the show", it had better be part of their Pro-Am night, or else you're out of there.

Drinks and food are a little expensive, but they aren't ridiculously overpriced. Your ticket money goes to the comedians, not to the club, so the two item minimum rule is in effect. There is also an automatic tip added to every bill, just so you're aware. However, the wait staff there is beyond fantastic - some of the friendliest I've ever encountered, not just at a comedy club, but anywhere.

Go Bananas also draws a lot of really great comics. One of my favorites, Doug Stanhope, is well known for his aversion of comedy clubs, preferring to  play at rock and roll clubs of his own booking. Go Bananas is one of the few "real" comedy clubs he'll perform at. Go Bananas has a good reputation for booking comedians that love to perform for the sake of performing, and they treat their comics well. That shows.

In the interest of disclosure I have to add that I, myself, am an aspiring stand-up comic, as well. However, I have nothing to gain by writing a good review of the club on the internet. I won't be getting an emcee gig just because of this or anything like that. But I honestly do think that if you live in the Cincinnati area and you want to go see live comedy, but aren't a big fan of the usual franchise comedy club atmosphere, you are really going to like Go Bananas.

And after the show, be sure to stop over at McLevy's Pub next door for a drink. It gets a little crazy there sometimes, but it's a great chance to mingle with other comedy fans and the comics that have performed that evening.

This place is fun, pretty cheap (shows are $12) and it's easy to find and park at.  I've been to Go Bananas a few times and have never been disappointed with the level of comedy provided and, more importantly, the drink list.

As with most comedy clubs, Go Bananas has a seat minimum charge that patrons must meet or else they will be charged with it anyways.  It's only $3 here, and that can easily be spent on a drink.  The Cherry Cheesecake martini is a winner.  Food here is also pretty decent; it's all appetizers, though.  We ordered the pizza and enjoyed it.

You have to make a reservation at Go Bananas to get into the show but these can usually be made the day of your show.  College night is on Thursday, tickets are only $4 with ID.   All shows but Saturday are 18 & up, Saturday is strictly over 21.
