This is probably my favorite dive bar. They have Hoegaarden on tap, pool tables, darts, a jukebox and strong cocktails! The bartenders are always pretty cool and their happy hour is awesome. Don't be fooled, it may be a small dive bar, but on the weekends this place can get pretty poppin' after 9 or so!
Review Source:The place itself was ok, but the people that were there when I went were rude. I might give it another chance and check it out on a different night. I went on a Friday and thought the crowd would be more my speed (I guess I'm more of a downtown Santa Ana type of person), but for a dive bar a lot of the people dressed like they were at the club...
Bar staff is nice, however. My friend and I just isolated ourselves from the rude people, and had a better time than initially.
Just like many other people I love a place with great drinks for cheap. Â This place has both of those things, and will definitely have me coming back for more. Â Be warned, this place is a total dive bar. The place isn't small, but definitely gets around especially on a Friday night. Â The drinks here are really cheap, I felt as though I was stealing from them. Â I believe every pitcher is $9, we got fat tire, blue moon, new castle, and shocktop. Â A friend of mine got a gin and tonic, it was $3.75!! Â For 4 kamikaze shots it's was $16, so $4 per shot. Â The place has a jukebox, pool tables, and even darts to play. Â They have free popcorn you can eat while you drink, they stop making it at midnight, so make sure to get some before they run out. Â Everyone here looked as though they were on a mission to get hammered. Â Most of whom did succeed, and the girls there looked very promiscuous. Â My friend and I almost witnessed a fight, so this place definitely isn't for the light hearted. Â Overall great drink prices, music, and vibes.
Review Source:Perfect dive bar, if you wanna have a drinks in the afternoon or at night, the prices are fair and staff are cool, mixed crowds lots of young people mostly during the weekend. friendly people, customers and employees been going here for about 5yrs. must say its crowded during weekends. don't let the name fool you this place was owned by a Godfather, not like gangster flicks you seen or herd of, this  is a mom and pops joint, family owned passed on from godfather to godson.
Review Source:I went to Godfathers for my weekend warrior days every weekend or so. I used to love the place. The crowd is generally loyal customers, the bartenders (though they have changed up on them too often the last couple years) pour stiff drinks and if you went to school in the area, chances are you will see someone you know.
The only suggestion I really have is that they start some kind of entertainment on the slower weeknights. The owner really needs to figure this out. Having a band or DJ here and there or some kind of SOMETHING would help pick up business... HINT HINT OWNER!
As a customer for 8 + years... Just sayin.
I would never have gone into this joint had it not been for a friend who suggested we meet there for a drink. Â Needless to say, seedy and local only begin to describe this place. Â I was there pretty early so only the regulars were there at the bar and the rest of place was empty. Â Everyone seemed nice enough and I was put to easy by the female bartender (can't even pinpoint why) and noticed they had two pool tables. Â I can imagine this place gets packed at night though.
Review Source:Definitely fits the definition of a dive bar, and those are fun, right? Â Everyone seems to know each other here, and the bartender is curt but good with the service, and the pricing is right. Bathrooms are not the cleanest looking you'll find. Â Parking is also a little scarce on some evenings, but with lots of commercial lots nearby, if you're willing to walk a few paces, you'll do fine.
Review Source:This is defo one of my favorite places to drink in the area. The atmosphere here is what makes the place great. Lots of chill people of varying demographics having good times with great bartenders and staff. There are 2 pool tables and 2 dart boards with all the other buck hunt, golden tee and bargames you'd expect to see. Not to mention everthing is very reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?
Review Source:We ended up going here by default. I'm new to the area and didn't have anything to do Christmas day. So two friends of mine and I decided to go to a bar. We originally planned to go to the Fling. We got there and it was closed, so we called all the bars in the area to see if anything was open. I got through to Godfather's and we headed over. We got there around 9pm, and it was moderately full (all the seats at the bar and a few tables). Altogether around 20 people. We got a pitcher ($9) of newcastle. The pitcher filled about 3.5 glasses up.
We played a few games of pool, and some darts. Made more friends pretty quickly and generally having a good time. Around 1030pm the place started getting packed. Around 50 people, most of them really chill. Crowd looked about mid to late 20s although I did ended meeting a group of 21ers. Place is supposed to be dive-y, but I put it a notch or two above. For starters it's clean, well lit, bathroom clean enough to piss in. However on that note, there were a couple people smoking weed outside when I showed (but they were preppy looking 25 yr olds). Not a lot of hot chicks though, and all the ones that were there, were with thuggish looking dudes. Not ghetto, but Ed Hardy bros
Oh I almost forgot the best part. The special that night was $2 shots of jose cuervo. Admittedly not the best alcohol but can't beat the price. I covered my two buddies that night. We left with a reallllllllllllllllly solid buzz, and my tab (3 people) was $40 including tip.
My favorite bar of all time. Free pool Sunday, Monday, Tuesdays (all day). Great bartenders and bouncers. This is a very small bar where for the most part everyone knows everyone if you've been there more than once. The bartenders will never forget you making a drunken scene at their bar, nor will they ever let you live this down (trust me, I know). Don't get me wrong, you'll get the occasional complete creep that wants to buy you 20 drinks and follow you all night, but for the most part there are great regulars here and great pool players!
Review Source:Honestly, this place is really depressing. The drinks are cheap, mixed real great. You definitely get your money's worth. There's a bartendress that's fukn hot! (If you're reading this, sorry... but YOU ARE!!). They have a jukebox, and if you get lucky, they'll play the song you've selected before you leave. The only thing that honestly makes this place a whole lot "better", is the people you go with. So these are my thoughts, but don't take my word for it....
Review Source:My Sun or Monday after work hangout. Â Kalen usally serves us and he rocks ;) We love playing their video games and rocking out to their juke box. Â They have pool tables and darts to play too. However... Just a side note for yall... If you go here and return for whatever reason. Let's say you enjoy getting served by a certain bartender.... make sure you are sitting on their side because they do not pool their tips ;( Being a bartender myself I think that their system is done a little unfairly but what can ya do. Nonetheless, its a great little dive and I always get great service ;)
Review Source:This place is hilarious to me. It's a bar in a strip mall that has video poker machines and a popcorn maker. Enough said.
I've probably only been here too early because I've never seen it too crowded like some of the other yelpers say.
The service is fast and they pour strong. The people are usually very interesting, wide range of ages. It's a fun place to stop in and have a drink or two before walking over to Pineapple Hill to watch people embarrass themselves on the karaoke machine.
I had been to Godfather's a handful of times in the past. Usually on the weekends it's far too crowded so I hang at Tustin Inn with the "Cheers" crowd.
Returned after a hiatus on Sunday 6/6/10 after the chili cook off and the place was jumpin'. Not too crowded but enough younger folks to keep me entertained. They carry some of my favorite off the wall beers on tap and in bottles and the shots are very strong. $4.00 for an import draft. The pool tables seem nice and over all it's pretty clean.
Cruised in again last night to find it less crowded but all in all had a great time. I *think* I had ordered a pitcher and one or two imports and my damages were $19.75.
I just like it because of it's location and the fact that it's walking distance from where I crash. ;)
One of the best dive bars I've been to yet! I ordered a jack and coke for $4.75 and drank Stella and Blue Moon all night while playing pool for FREE. Â It's free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I think. I probably should have eaten dinner before I went because I got effed up pretty fast, but it was a great time. I like that there's a jukebox that you have to put money in but you can pick your own songs. That's how it is at Tin Lizzie Saloon too. AND it's right next to Naan and Kabob which is pretty bomb. Hey, that kind of rhymed.
Review Source:This place rocks - I've been going here since I turned 21 in 1999 - man I feel old now. Â Best dive bar in OC for my money. Â Back in '99, they only had 3 beers on tap - Bud, Bud Light, and Coors Light, for $4.40 a pitcher. Â Cocktails were $2.50 (well drinks), and they allowed smoking well after the ban. Â The epitome of awesome dive bars.
I don't go too often anymore - obviously prices have risen, no smoking anymore, but still cool. Â I don't understand some of the reviews on here. Â One moron complained that the drinks are too strong? Â Huh - are you serious? Â Wussies should not go to G-Fathers. Â Strong drinks = good. Â Another lady gave it 1 star because there are hoes there and it's a good place for a 1 night stand... ? huh? this is a dive bar. Â It's not like you have to hook up if you don't want to. Â
I have some dumb ass friends who'd rather go to the Irvine Spectrum and pay 5x more money, without darts and pool, and uptight prudes to boot. Â Don't get me wrong - eye candy is cool, and although there are some gems at these upscale places, chances of a 1 nighter with these women are slim to none (disclaimer, I am married and not looking for action) - not to mention that you have to dress to impress. Â Besides, I've seen plenty of nice looking ladies at G-Fathers. Â Most of them are friendly too.
If you feel like getting wasted and having a good time - G-Fathers is the place. Â I cannot recount the number of nights I've had a blast here playing pool, darts, and video games, along with interacting with the other patrons. Â Obviously, like any bar, you will have an occasional drunk idiot starting trouble, but those indidents are far and few - like 5% or less of my visits here. Â Dammit - after typing this, I want to go there. Â Adios amigos.
I came here for the first time on a Tuesday night, which is also free pool night, so that saves you some quarters. Their beer was cheap - $9.50 for a pitcher of Newcastle. They have three pool tables and two dart boards, and a small arcade.
The crowd was mostly white and maybe a little older than most bars I've been to. It got busy later on, but not busy enough to the point where you were brushing shoulders with people. Overall I enjoyed everything that night. I don't know why people call this place a dive bar cause it's actually pretty decent (I've been to dive bars with fat strippers and the only beer they serve is PBR in cans...but then again this is in my hometown of Atlanta).
They don't skimp on alcohol on mixed drinks either. While I was waiting for the bartender, I saw here make several mixed drinks (Vodka cranberry, Jack and Coke, etc.) and she definitely gave everyone their moneys worth plus some. I wouldn't mind coming back here again, it just might be my new kickback.
The perfect trashy bar on a Sunday afternoon! Who knew so many people drank in the middle of the day on Sunday? Not me!
We came here after a chili cook off. My BF and his brother played pool, while I sat back and observed.
$4.75 for a Malibu & Coke, not too bad. There was an internet jukebox. Three songs for $1. I chose Beat It, Get Into the Groove and Cold Hearted Snake. The regulars seemed to enjoy it when Beat It came on, but nobody appreciated Madonna or Paula. Whatever. You're drunk on a Sunday afternoon, what do I care?
Overall, the bar was okay. There was ample seating, and lots of room to stand around. This place got packed! The bathrooms were clean, but poorly designed. And there was no hook for my purse in the stall. I guess I shouldn't have expected too much.
I suppose I would come back again if I was in the area and felt like taking my classiness down a notch.
let me preface this review by saying that I have only been here once, and if I ever go back I am sure it would rate higher. It gets 2 stars because it is a dive bar and the drinks are very strong.
went here a couple of years ago with a buddy after hitting up the Tustin Brew Co. decided to bar hop and ended up here. didnt heed the warnings of how strong the drinks were here and ended up getting sick outside. not the establishment's fault, but it colored my view of the joint.
if there were a grammy/oscar/espy type award for bartender of the year, then the ladies working behind the bar would win it year in, year out. Â in other words, you'll definitely get your money's worth in alcohol + service with a smile.
if beer's your choice of poison, then don't fret. Â IMPORTED pitchers (3 pints and then some) are ONLY 9.50, whereas domestics are 7.25.
there's ample seating (we eventually swooped on some seats on a busy sat. evening after standing around for 20 minutes), 3 pool tables, and 2 dart boards.
crowd is mixed with good vibes. Â none of that pretentious hollywood baggage. Â
case in point:
watched 'tender #1 toss a couple cartons of milk into the trash b/c they smelled bad. Â 'tender #2 later tries making a white russian, unknowing there's no more milk. 'tender #2 searches in vain for the milk. Â after having already poured the vodka and kahlua, she hands the patron a white russian sans milk. Â words are exchanged and 'tender #2 then busts out a can of whipped cream.
end result:
smiles all around.
never fails me. godfathers is my local dive bar that i go to probably 2-3 times a week since i've discovered it. although i must say i am a weeknight-er there, i haven't been to godfathers on the weekends yet. something new to do...
bartenders are always fun. and they have a cute bouncer slash bar back slash security thing. whatever he is, he's a hottie. good eye candy. gives me reasons to come back. =] it's an older crowd for sure, but i don't mind it. occasionally they get some youngins' like myself and we all have a good time. mellow but can't get pretty crazy if you want it to.
come on tuesdays or wednesdays, or both if you're me, and it's free pool. drinks are cheap daily though. it's about $9 for a pitcher. can't beat that. even if you tried.
Every Friday after work we all come here for drinks. Â It's kind of nice just to shoot the shit with your coworkers. Â I'm fairly new at my work and before I started coming here to drink with them, I really didn't know anything about most of my coworkers. Â After a couple of drinks, you find out you have all sorts of things in common with them! Â And really, most of them aren't nearly as dorky as they seem while at work. Â I'm glad this place is around for that reason alone. Â
I guess this review is more for the experience than the actual bar itself? Â But really, Godfather's is pretty good for what it is. Â $4 for a pint of Newcastle. Â That's all I've ever bought there, so I don't know prices on other things. Â There's always the resident drunk slurring his speech and falling out of his chair at 5 in the afternoon. Â They gave my friend a free drink on her birthday.
To make things even better, the jukebox is always playing Black Sabbath (no complaints there! Â sabbath rules!)
