Velvet Lounge

A friend and I visited Velvet Lounge for the first time this past Friday and had a blast! We originally planned to only stay for Happy Hour, however, the service we received from Jordan was so attentive that we decided to give their food a try! I had the Tofu Basil substituting the tofu for chicken and my friend had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. The food was amazing and came out super hot! (2) patrons bought several rounds of shots (Blow jobs) for us, this has NEVER happened to me at a "straight" bar!!! Another friend of ours sent us a text  to meet her at another bar, but we REFUSED to leave! We convinced her to come to Velvet, it took her a bit to warm up to the music, but WHOA when she did we all hit the dance floor! I love the Text Board that they have where you can send text messages and the whole club can see them. We sent shout outs to the bartender and our server, who changed into a SHIRTLESS Shot-Boy at night! Anyway, I could go on and on about that, but I won't! Just Go!!!
There's a parking deck and metered street parking if you get there early enough. I got a space at the door, but that's because we were there at 5:30pm. We can't wait to experience the Sunday Brunch, we're making reservations for next month!

It's official: my favorite gay club in Orange County is Velvet Lounge.

This establishment is lovely, and offers a little bit of everything for all. There's room to dance, room to drink, room to chill and an outside areas for smokers, too. Everything is beautiful, clean, and the staff is professional. What's more, they listen to the needs of their clientele and have changed things to make it more accessible; I can't think of another gay establishment in the OC that does this. Color me impressed!

I stopped coming on the weekends, and instead have been more consistently attending Club Cherry on Wednesday's which is aimed at women. Everyone is friendly and I tend to have great conversations with not only my friends, but people I've never met before! The music has been bumpin', I've noticed less songs that make me leave the dance floor and more that make me want to jump in. They've extended their times, too, which gives those of us in south-county more time to get our dancing shoes on and get our buns here in a timely fashion so we don't have to pay a cover fee...THANK YOU!

I finally got to step into the lovely gay world that is VLVT...I looooooove it!

Happy hour started at 4:30..good drinks for $5 each. There were also elaborate appetizers for the same price. Sometimes I get so tired of seeing the same old appetizers at different joints: mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, blah blah blah. But I did spy some Asian-inspired mini dishes at a quick glance before deciding I didn't want to eat. Not sure when happy hour runs till, but even if it wasn't happy hour, this place would still be soooo awesome.

Cute decor: velvety high-back booths, dark wood, bar with strobe lights and curtains...the minute I stepped in, I knew I wouldn't wanna leave:)

Me and the gals went on Monday, but we were too early for Musical Monday (I believe it starts at 6:30pm: soundtracks from famous musicals!!!). That's okay if we missed it because the staff were so awesome!! Grace was our bartender and Robin was our host/manager (?). Grace with her magic hands whipped up the perfect mojito, Marilyn Mon-tinis, strawberry whiskey shots...all the while chatting it up with us! Robin was also a hoot to talk to and informed me that the beautiful queens on Rupaul's Drag Race frequent VLVT!! Sooo excited.

Sunday brunch sounds tempting...brunch AND a drag show. But for me, I'm always at church on Sundays since I'm a sinner:)

Go to VLVT!! Beautiful people in a beautiful place!!
I felt like Cinderella...having to go back to work because I ran out of time. I want to go back to the ball. I had a great time!!
