I went to town on the buffet. Carlos, our server was awesome.
The guy runnin the steaks is dead serious about killer steak. Did i tell you
i went to town there? My goal is to buy a plane so's I can eat there every day after work, Maybe I'll just buy a franchise like those arab sheiks in the 70's who had dedicated wings at their favorite casinos.
Well worth the 2hr drive. I am familiar with this chain in the south. Â My biggest fear of southern cooking in New England was put to rest though with this estabilishment.
Great service, Great food... this place was alot more laid back than the south, and lack the southern feeding freenzy (that's good thing)!
Josh was right on top of our drinks and dishes... Â
Food was hot, plentiful and FABULIOUS! Sweet potatoes and dirty rice... MMMMM
Plenty of parking... and the place was busy but not packed and no line out the door.
For the two of us on a Monday afternoon, the bill was about $22 with drinks and eat like a king.
The only thing I can recommend, is with the current times, this place needs a recording or something. I called in advance to make sure this place was still in operation and there was no answer.
Can't wait to come back... worth every ounce of gas!
My Friends took me here After 6 Flags. I have to say this was the highlight of my day. The food here was top of the line in quality for a buffet place. The steaks were cooked to how you like it and lines move pretty fast. The quality of the steaks are the same as a steakhouse. The baby back ribs were delicious because they were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The meat would just fall apart from the bones on contact with your fork. For about $10 a person, you can eat like a king. To bad this place is to far from me, but if your ever near Springfield tried it out.
Review Source:I've been a few times now and I would suggest going for their dinner over the lunch. Most of the food selection is the same with the exception of the red meat and it starts fairly early (I think it's 3:30 or 4:00 but will update it this later)
Careful though, the calamari looks like onion rings.
A TV commercial advertises it will be "around $10" and was $11.29
Soda not included, it's $1.99
Oh.....my God..
Okay. Â I went here once with my boyfriend, my mom, and my step-dad. Â We wanted to have a nice lunch before setting off for the day. Â The line at this place is always, always out the door, so we assumed for the best.
We went early for lunch, and were able to get in without a wait.
The prices are very, very reasonable.
The inner set-up of the place is very interestingly decorated and I liked that a lot.
The food was GREAT.
They had a VERY extensive salad bar and all of the veggies were crisp and fresh.
The steak there was out of this world. Â It was cut to order and I can't think of a place recently that I've had a higher quality cut of meat.
Everything was fantastic and I *might* go back there for the food....someday.
Major turn-offs and why I haven't returned:
Cleanliness.
My mother walked into the restroom and walked back out immediately and told me not to go in there. Â Apparently there was water, toilet paper, fecal matter and vomit EVERYWHERE. Â I took her word for it and did not look myself.
Clientele:
The restaurant is very busy and full of people. Â But, the seats are arranged in such a way that it makes it easy to walk through the tables to the buffet areas without hassle. Â I know restaurants shouldn't be based on their clientele, but this was just...yucky.
To avoid saying anything offensive, I'll leave it at...I had lots the entire salad bar to myself. Â When I wanted a desert-type food, I couldn't get anywhere near the tables. Â Maybe this is normal for buffet places, I'm not really sure.
My mom decided to write to corporate about the conditions in the restrooms and stated that if the Board of Health had seen what she saw, they wouldn't be open anymore. Â Golden Corral has received this letter but has not responded in any way. Â So that's not so great, either.
I don't know, maybe I'll go back some day since the food was so good. Â It's kind of a trade off, though.
Here's the thing about this place, the food is good, the price is good, but the atmosphere is pretty much the way the name states it... corraled. I felt like there were a hundred people on top of each other like a herd of cattle penned in one space. Its very loud and for me uncomfortable... I've dined there twice and felt the same way each time, and on my third attempt i walked in saw the chaos of people and walked out. would much rather have a more relaxed dinner somewhere else even if it means paying a few extra dollars
Review Source:I'm loving this place. The variety and cost was sooooooooooo good. ($10 per adult for dinner) I know it's divey and I know I saw one staff person having a serious 'tude, but it is quick, casual, cheap and we were both very, very hungry.
The line was out the door but we were in, paid (you pay up front), and had full plates within 30 minutes. Our server and the manager were cool.
Among the choices were: salads, breads (yummy bruschetta), asian, mexican, southern (omg, the bourbon street chicken and coconut shrimp......!), pizza, steak and desserts (all desserts looked yummy but the fudge and ice cream less so. the cookies, cakes and other items were great).
go for the food and crowd/people watch.
The food at Golden Corral was quite good, especially for a buffet. What made the food even better was the low cost for the meal, and the variety of the food - many hearty options are available. The service was satisfactory, even when dealing with the afternoon rush. My only qualm with this place (and reason for the 4-star rating) is that you rely on your wait-person to get you your drinks - there are no self serve soda or water fountains. This is a huge issue during busy hours because the down time between drinks can really cause some discomfort.
Review Source:Is this five star cuisine? No, but its the best buffet I've been to! Everything we had was good quality and tastey. The staff are friendly and helpful and despite how crazy crowded it was the food was always stocked and everything was sparkling clean. I highly recommend this place for families.
