I had a jack and coke for $4.50 on a Friday afternoon.
That's how you do happy hour.
The bartender was nice.
There seemed to be your regulars here. You know the type?
They look unemployed and you wonder how the hell they seem to always have money to spend at any bar?
They have a pool table and a weird assortment of music blasting. Also... people did not give a flying phuck about government regulations as people were smoking inside. It was odd, but funny.
There was a $10 minimum on usage of cards, That usually puts me in a funk because I end up drinking more than I'm used to.
I only orderd 2 cheap drinks and closed out my tab.
Luckily, the nice bartender charged me $10 and gave me $2 back in cash. Who does that?!?! That was pretty cool on her part.
Oh and on my way out I got hit on my 2 older women who fit the "you're a regular, here" category. And although my dreams of an interracial three-some have not come true, I had to pass at this oportunity,
When it comes to a dive bar this place is the spot. I've been going here for years and I wouldn't have any other way. Cheap drinks good music, plenty sports and what not playing on the multiple flat screens throughout the place, and not to mention friendly people 24/7 Â so whether your grabbing a mid-afternoon brew or throwing a few back after work this is the spot you wanna come to in Hawthorne. Pretty chill early on during the week but still but still lots of fun. But come Thursday night it's jumpin! till Sunday on. Hot! Hot! Hot! bartenders who aren't afraid to pour you a stiff drink while a smile.
Review Source:I love coming here at least once a week with my friends, the bartenders are super chill (Jhey especially) and the drinks are super cheap. For the most part there are pretty cool people there as well, but with every dive bar come some crazies, I guess. One of the only negatives is that I wish they had karaoke! Also, it can get super smokey in there, which is good for my friends since most of them smoke but I don't always enjoy it.
Overall, the phrase " Cheap drinks good times" pretty much sums this place up. Love it!
I must say that I truly enjoyed myself here. My friend and I decided to try this place for ourselves since the reviews are so up and down. We'd had a great seafood lunch at Mariscos Escondido and decided we wanted to go to a dive bar for drinks. We walked into the bar and I got a little discouraged when I saw how small it was on the inside but we decided to sit down as there were two empty bar stools for us. The bar-back Stephanie who was serving all drinks kindly obliged to our request for two coronas and two shots of 1800. After a while a gentleman says.."You two girls are making too much noise over there so I'm gonna have to put you out" and puts out hearty laugh then introduces himself at the owner Pat. He was having drinks with his buddy and told Steph to get us another shot on him. So nice of him. He even told me he didn't think I enjoyed one of my drinks and made me another one himself, telling me I better tell him his was the best or he was kicking me out, lol. Everyone at the bar was friendly and sparked up some comical convo. The guy sitting next to me allowed me to sample his beer since I'd never had that kind, another nice dude bought my friend another round and everyone was just happy and laughing. He introduced me to some dice game where you put quarter down to play, they had 6 dice in a cup shake and roll and if you roll all 6's you win all the quarters collected in the bowl that everyone gave to play (I think that's what he told me. I was a lil tipsy). Yes, it's old, yes people smoke but there's not a cloud of smoke smoldering the place. I thought that the vibe was nice, the drinks were nice, stiff and cheap it was a winner for me. Hey, the owner gave us a hug and kiss on the cheek each before leaving for the day so what can I say??? We'll most def be back.
Review Source:The greatest piece of crap on Inglewood Ave is what it is! I came here because some broad knew some other broad who was working here. They let a bunch of dumbass minors in on the day i came here. Â The place is super cramped, no bigger then your average storage room. Some fat old lady tried to hit on me at the jukebox and the drinks were garbage. Â Super small and super lame. Â Do yourself a favor and hit up the thirsty club in Redondo. At least there, youll get a good drink...
Review Source:I'm a fan of dive bars, i must admit i enjoy the chill vibes in them and all and the feel of "no one cares in here" but i gotta say THIS place was just depressing the bar is the size of my garage and the male female ratio was horrible here it was a sausage fest and the people there where grimmy locals....not a good place to sit and enjoy a beer...
Review Source:The South Bay isn't my familiar turf, but I've nonetheless gotta review "The Greatest" because the world sorely needs great dive bars!
Made plans to meet a buddy here before moving on elsewhere for dinner. This was supposed to be a quick hit: Grab one drink and then move on. I arrived first and liked the place so well that I told my buddy I wouldn't mind staying put here for a while. My friend is somewhat of a "regular," and the social vibe is extremely relaxed and welcoming. At my request, we came back for another round after dinner, and the place was really hopping on that Friday night.
There is nothing even remotely refined, new, or fancy about "The Greatest." This is a classic bare-bones watering hole; a good old neighborhood working class dive bar. The mixed drinks are well made and inexpensive. The beers are good and cold. However, If you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, this is clearly not the environment for you.
Every halfway decent town should have a bar or two like this one. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular too.
One of the dirtiest little dive bars in LA. Â Where the drinks are cheap but well served and the juke box has a great selection. Â You can smoke in-doors which is an automatic plus. Â Not for those people looking for the in crowd. Â Not a great date spot either. Â But a good place to get some drinks and a cab ride home. Â ;) Â
Truly is The Greatest (dive ever)!
