Nope, sorry, you really can only do better. Maybe you'll get lucky (apparently some reviewers have), but why take the chance?

Called to inquire about a Groupon deal that is about to expired.
Talked to Richard, rudest person I ever talked to. I had purchased a Groupon that I realized expired today and wanted to talk to the owner so he was going to take down my information. But as he was looking for a pen he said to me..."I don't want to be an ASS right now but I don't understand why you are giving me this attitude when this coupon has been out for a year. And...." wow! I was sooooo surprised and turned off that I just hung up on him. I WILL NOT go there.

Dreadful.  I've lived in Eugene 9 years now, and over the last 7, I can confidently say that this was the worst meal I have eaten here.

I had the Groupon and kept my mind very open after reading reviews on here.  The woman who sat us assured us we could use the Groupon for Ratatouille food (they share the same space, or are one and the same somehow?  Confusing.) but I wanted to get my Thai on.   I figured since "Thai" was in the name of the restaurant, I'd be eating Thai food.  Wrong.  WRONG.

+ The woman who sat us and took our order was pleasant.
    -  Too bad she left us midway through the meal and we were left to deal with the (I believe) owner-proprietor.
+ We ordered summer rolls as an appetizer and they weren't terrible.  Larger portion for two people than I am used to and all three sauces were okay.  I had no idea what was to come. . .
    - - I got the yellow curry, and it was just horrifying.  The food was colored bright radioactive looking yellow.  The curry sauce was thick, way too thick.  I would believe it if I was told this sauce contained nothing but coconut milk, yellow food coloring, and a thickening agent.
    - - There was nothing resembling Thai spice in either the yellow curry or the green curry (ordered by my partner).   In fact, I think it is fair to say that nothing about the food resembled what I have come to believe is "Thai" food.
    - Brown rice was dry and didn't work well with anything else.
    - - The owner-proprietor (or a man who was walking around as if he owned the place) was rude.  Just plain rude.  I've never been confronted angrily when letting a server know that I didn't want to take the leftovers home.  "Oh, what you don't like it?"  (I'm a diplomat in person, but I was tempted to really let him know. . .)
    - He never refilled the water.  Which, I guess was okay, since the food has absolutely zero spice.
    - - I've eaten a lot of crappy meals in my life.  When I am hungry, food has a place for me, and it isn't always to be a great experience.  I couldn't even use this food for the base functionality of feeding my hunger.  I arrived hungry and left hungry, because I couldn't eat another bite after finishing maybe a third of it.  It was that bad.

If you still have the Groupon, and find yourself reading this, do yourself a favor and try to sell it to somebody else.  A co-worker or an in-law that you secretly (or openly) hate would be an ideal option.   Don't eat here, don't eat at Ratatouille, just stay away entirely.

I wrote a previous review of Green Papaya and ranked it really poorly. However I had another Groupon to use, so I figured we would give it another shot- maybe our first visit was just a fluke.

We decided to just order a take out of Thai iced tea and spring rolls, since you can't really mess those up. Oh but boy was I wrong. The spring roll wrappers were tough, and they were filled with simply romaine lettuce and some cabbage. My biggest complaint though was the thai iced tea! They were so watered down. I am talking flavorless, like I am sitting here trying to drink it while I type, and I am considering just pouring it down the drain.  And as a side note, it was served in an Allan Brothers coffee cup, which is just weird.

Well Green Papays is 2 for 2- not worth it.

    Bad. Shockingly bad.

My boyfriend bought a Groupon to Green Papaya, and based on the majority of previous reviews, I wasn't super excited. But I was willing to give it a chance, and hoped for the best. Apparently optimism was a mistake.

I chose take-out instead of dine-in, and the gentleman who took my order over the phone was incredibly pleasant. His happy demeanor was the only positive thing about Green Papaya, sadly. I ordered a bowl of Tom Kha (with chicken) and Pad Thai (also with chicken), for my boyfriend & I to share. The portion of the soup was suuuuuuuper tiny (I can't imagine how small the cup is), and it was both far too creamy & far too bland. No flavor whatsoever (and barely any chicken, mostly just broth). The Pad Thai was decently sized, but they forgot the chicken (for which I paid $2 extra). They also forgot any & all seasoning. Really bad. Like, reaaaalllllly bad.

Despite my best efforts at home, I just couldn't impart much flavor into these dishes. I will absolutely NOT be returning to Green Papaya, and I'm also going to let Groupon know how disappointing this restaurant is. Clearly I'm not alone in my bummed-out opinion of it.

I went to Green Papaya last night with my man to use our first of two Groupons.  I am excited to go back later and use our second one!

First of all, I was appalled by all of the negative reviews.  Yes, the menu is small, but I appreciate that meals are made with local, organic produce.  Although the items are different from the traditional Thai dishes that you would see at other Thai restaurants in Eugene, they were unique interpretations of Thai dishes, and they were delicious.

We had the Porpia Sot (salad rolls), which came with 3 delicious dipping sauces- fig, peanut, and apricot.  I think the rolls could use some mint or cilantro, but they were fresh (not out of a bag), and very tasty.  I had the Pad Thai which was different from other Pad Thai that I have tasted because it doesn't contain fish sauce, but it was still very good.  My man had the scrumptious green curry that came with a salad.

Overall, I think this restaurant has a lot of potential.  The food is delicious, but the ambiance could use some changes.  The restaurant iPod was on a weird shuffle but it was pretty funny.  Also, it's a bit weird that Ratatouille, which is a bit upscale is in the same space, there is no separation from the two, so you might expect to go out for a casual dinner at Green Papaya and be surprised to see people dressed up for a fancy French meal.

I will definitely go back because I love Ratatouille, and I can't wait to see how Green Papaya evolves!  I recommend that you give this place a chance, and keep an open mind :)

Absolutely the worst food. Spring roll is rice wrapper with bag lettuce.
Chicken satay were dry. I am sure the waiter have never eaten there.

We could not recommend Green Papaya to anyone.

Used the Groupon to try this new place.  Did so because of my prior excellent experience at Ratatouille when it was downtown.  We were sorely disappointed.  Had the Tom Goong Soup which lacked flavor, salad rice wraps (also tasteless) although the three dipping sauces that came with were really good.  Had the chicken satay which had good flavor but was super dry.  My husband had the tempeh satay which was the best thing we ordered.  He also had the red curry which was awful.  I wish we had better news.  We really wanted to like this place.  By the way, when we asked our server what he liked (recommended), we chose based on his recommendations and didn't choose the Pad Thai (usually a Thai Restaurant's signature dish) because he said it wasn't any good.  Hmmmmm......

Out of all the Thai places in the Eugene/Springfield area I've been to this is the worst.  The host, waiter, busboy and cashier were the same person.  The waiter didn't bring silverware we had to request it after getting our food.  The Phad Thai was horribly dry and they forgot the chicken.  The Yellow Curry was more like curry soup and it only had three little shrimp in it.  My favorite part of the horrible experience was when the waiter came to refill my water that I had already been drinking.  He filled the glass to the brim and then poured some back in the pitcher.

We also ordered a mango smoothie which was really good.  Unless you're going for just a smoothie I'd skip this one.
