I came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised . My friend and i  had the  $ 9.95 lunch special which had many choices. You can have soup or salad 1st then your entree. I had a wonderful tricolored salad litely dressed then I had a grilled chicken wrap with mozzarella cheese , roasted peppers, and  romaine lettuce with  aoli mayo. Delicious! I ordered a cappuccino  and it came in a large cup which was nice. Our waiter Joe was very attentive and pleasant. I can't wait to return for dinner.
My friend asked for a donation for our local fund raiser and they were only to happy to help with two $50 donations! That was amazing! Since it was my 1st time in!
I came here once with my coworkers for lunch and had the grilled salmon meal. I thought it was just okay. According to my coworkers who got sandwiches, those were pretty standard as well. The building and the decor is nice, with lots of TVs around the bar, and our waiter attentive and pleasant. They also have happy hour specials that we've yet to try.
Overall, the atmosphere was nice and so was our service, with the food being good but not exceptional.
I visited GrillStone on a Sunday night for drinks with friends. Prices were reasonable - $7-8 for a glass of wine and $4-6 for beer. Lots of choices for wines and good size pours. Big list of beers on tap too. They also have cocktails including a martini list. They did manage to disappoint with the Bloody Mary - my friend couldn't even finish 1/4 of the glass because it tasted so bad. We didn't have food but the menu looked good.
Atmosphere inside was nice. We sat at a hightop table near the bar - the bar itself was large. I could picture this place to be a great late night spot or place to watch the game. Service was so-so; we were greeted and seated by a older male in a full suit (manager?) but our waitress looked like she was ready to head down the Shore with her outfit.... And this is in December. The bartender also turned on all the house lights at 11:00pm to "change the mood". Seemed like a not so subtle way to say "finish your drinks".
All in all good drinks, decent atmosphere. Service left something to be desired.
We went to GrilleStone for the first time last week for a birthday party, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The owners must have spent a lot of money on the place, and it shows. The decor is very upscale and chic, including the ladies' room, which has beautiful, sparkly black marble counters and large stalls.
We were greeted by a friendly staff as soon as we walked in. Immediately after being seated, we were asked if we wanted to check our coats. Very nice surprise! Coat checks just don't seem to exist in this area anymore, and they should.
Also, we were seated even though not all of the party had arrived yet, which was great! Too many restaurants in this area will make you wait unit your entire party has shown up to seat you, even if everyone else is there except for one person.
Now for the food. My bestie had the seared ahi tuna, which she raved over and devoured. My husband had the meatloaf, which he loved, and I, the filet mignon, which was excellent! The birthday girl also had the filet mignon, and she raved about how good it was, too.
And for dessert we had the warm apple crisp a la mode, which was heavenly.
To top it off, we asked for a few separate checks, and the wait staff happily complied.
I think all members of the party left feeling happily full that night, and we didn't have to break the bank to do it! Will definitely be back. We'd like to try the Sunday brunch buffet.
EDIT: My mom, husband and I went to the buffet and it was wonderful! You could get anything from pancakes to omelets and they even had a carving station. Our waiter was Jacob, who we'd had as a waiter at the birthday party also, and like he was at the party, he was very friendly and attentive. And we got to meet Frank Sr., one of the owners, who was nothing but nice and appreciative that we were there.
Way to go again, GrilleStone!!
We noticed that the owner monitors and responds to compliments and complaints alike, which we commend.
One of the managers told me that Yelp removes positive reviews after 24 hours if the establishment doesn't advertise on the website, which I hope is not true, cause it kinda defeats the purpose of Yelp altogether.
Say it ain't so Yelp!
Continuing my review, Wifey was ecstatic about the decor/ambiance, which is unusual for her cause she is hard to please in that department. She also liked everything in the bathroom except the black marble counter, which she felt made the area darker than necessary. She was particularly impressed with the large stalls because of the comfort factor and the overall cleanliness.
Waitress a bit stiff but floating managers equalized/neutralized the situation and made us feel most welcome. Didn't try cocktails so don't know if they were worth the price, damn fine looking bartenders serving through and decent beer prices too. Bar situation copacetic, I'm sure they get quite lively at night, after the dinner crowd, I plan on telling a few of my bachelor friends.
The food? The burgers were indeed dry and the buns stiff but the seasoned fries were well received. After doing some thinking( I'm sure the owner will verify), it appears this franchise is probably required to purchase their burgers and buns exclusively from a Grille Stone distributor. If this is not the case you folks need to shop around for a different supplier of beef and buns (maybe the guy that does the dinner rolls) or just remove them from the menu.
Overall we plan on another visit, it's convenient to our commute home, not excessively pricey and it sits in between our favorite two Unique Thrift Store locations on Route 22.
I'll keep you posted.
Owner is clueless and his comments show how green he is. Rather than talk about the quality of his beef: prime, choice, select...he brings up the type of cow. This is laughable, Angus Beef is the most COMMON cut of beef in the U.S. Â Its why you see it in the supermarkets and McDonald's. Pathetic. Look just own up to your food sucking and try to improve it that's all. It isn't my fault your designers took a queue from 80's restaurants in the mish mash design of the place.
Your short order cooks put a thermometer to test the doneness of your burgers? Â You poke a burger with a finger and the firmness tells you everything. Come on that's pathetic goes to show how clueless you really are. In truth Buffalo Wild Wings, do have better wings than yours, better sauces and service. Growing up in NYC, I ate at Le Cirque, Le Bernadin, Montrachet, One if By Land and a host of other fine dining restaurants that have no need for me to review since they stand by their food's taste and quality alone. Â
If you served the number of meals that you did and are grandstanding on that then why isn't the yelp community coming out of the woodworks to applaud your place? Why, because you serve average to below average food and make excuses, that's why.
My wife and I ate at this restaurant a few months ago. Â My original review was removed by yelp probably because the owner didn't like it. Â We didn't have a good experience here. Â The owner wrote me a message saying that my review is inappropriate, probably why they don't have any other reviews like mine. Â Kind of defeats the purpose of yelp in my opinion...
Review Source:Went here with my girlfriend's family for dinner, so I'm going to base this review on some of the stuff they've said as well.
Place is fancy inside. Â From passing it on 22 so many times, I thought it would be more sports bar-ish, but it was a nice restaurant inside. Â Bar had some nice TVs to watch football. Â It was OK.
As for the food: Â I got the hamburger, which was really good, but the fries were meh. Â The prices seemed a bit on the high side. Â My GF's family wasn't very impressed with the steak or filet mignon. Â There were a few heat problems with the food for some of them as well.
So, 2 stars sounds right. Â I bet it makes really good money and the servers/managers were very nice, but I doubt I go back.
I went to grill stone to watch the football games last Sunday and had a pretty good time. Â The bar is surrounded by TVs n you can watch all the football games. Additionally the place is clean n the bar is nice. Â Bar food from wings n sliders are decently priced. Â Draft beer 2$ for the most part but all the other drinks are pretty pricey.
The other side of the place is a nice sit down restaurant with decent food. Â Dishes are between 10-15$ and I haven't had a bad meal yet, but nothing spectacular.
I would recommend this place to watch the football games if you want to relax , hear the games and be able to sit down. Â Also not a bad place for lunch. Â Also during the week they have a bunch of specials you should try and take advantage of.
Great place to go it you can look past the lackluster decor and dismal service. It was interesting to watch the inattentive bartenders fumble around and leave patrons waiting with no drinks. It was also amusing to see servers run around with food because they couldn't remember where it was going. But the highlight was watching the manager on duty observe all of this without a clue of how to fix it. While I did like watching these errors I do not think I will be going back.
Review Source:Way overpriced, Â we wanted to give this local place a try, and take advantage of the happy hour. When I saw full parking lot, I was worried about getting a table. No problem there, I was asked if I would mind sitting in the dining room, I did not realize that the Happy hour did not extend into the dining room. Even though the website says happy hour lasts until 8:00, the waiter informed me it was only another 15 minutes, at 6:30, and made no offer to move me to the bar area. Â
I soon realized why the parking lot was so full, it is due to all the people who worked there, and kept stopping by our table. Â We ordered two of the specials the Tilapia and the Southwest Crab cake. The portion on the tilapia was very generous, but lacking in flavor , for the price! Â The crab cake was actually burnt on the bottom, and served on the sweet potato hash had very conflicting flavors. The dining area was very noisy, and it was difficult to hold a conversation with more than 1person. Â For the price, I would go anywhere else, there are plenty of really good restuarants in the area for 1/2 the price, and a more caring staff.
I went here for dinner and drinks. It was my first time there and I really liked it.
The decor was very nice and modern. Very clean and well kept.
The pricing was reasonable. I seen worst prices at worst places. They gave a good portion of food for what the price is. The food took a while to come to our table but other then that it was a good experience. I would recommend.
GrilleStone gets 3 stars from me for the following: Â
1. The design is modern and new so it feels you're eating at a younger, hip establishment. Â And we all know this area needs a place like this.
2. Â My Ahi Tuna appetizer was delicious. Â I've eaten at gourmet NYC establishments and NJ establishments alike so I know what it's supposed to taste like. Â The bed of cabbage greens was so tasty with the miso juice and the tuna was prepared marvelously.
3. Â My server, a more mature lady, not a teeny bopper, was so gracious and attentive to our table. Â My parents and I went there around 4pm on a Saturday and she made recommendations of what we may or may not like. Â I would go back just on her attentiveness alone.
They didn't get the two remaining stars for the following:
-4. Â My father ordered the NY Strip and it looked old and stringy. Â I asked him if it was good because he is not the type to complain and he admitted it was tough.
-5. Â There is a spirit of whatever-ness among the staff. Â It may be because they are not paid well enough or they have not been trained enough. Â But all of the staff should be on point, even if it's not their table. Â The point of a restaurant is for people to eat well and if not, at least make it a welcome atmoshphere.
The server did mention they got a new chef so hopefully the food progresses past the ahi tuna good, NY strip not so good.
Sorry, this place is not going to make it. I hate to say that because it's a great location for a good restaurant, but this is NOT it. The staff needs some super training. The cooks are probably making minimum wage, but that's to be expected when you're heating up frozen, processed food in a microwave.
I've had better pizza from my sister's Easy-Bake Oven when we were little kids. You'll do better to save your money, they do charge a lot here, and find a better, well-known restaurant. Sorry.
BEWARE!! Steer clear of this place!!
I have been here several times as it is a convenient location to my home - the ambiance is great and the building is really elegant and plus it's new - but that is where it ends. I really wanted it to work out so I kept giving it a chance...... but
after my experience on June 27, 2012 is the LAST time I will ever set foot in this place. (unless it changes owners)
I have had about 4 dinners here and one was worse than the next. I really like the vibe inside(bar is really nice/easy to socialize in/fun drinks) however the food is basically inedible...and way overpriced...if you are going to charge 16.95 for LETTUCE at least have it be a 3 out of 5!!!
This place is WAY WAY overpriced for the quality it serves!!
Nothing I have ever had here WOWED me - soggy pizza dough, bland sides, soup(which is almost always served cold - my brother in law said the two times he went(separate from with me) they had to microwave the soup cause it was so cold, undercooked french fries(how can you screw up fries)? EWWWW!
BUT - the icing on the cake .... was.... my 6/27 experience when I was served a Grilled Chicken Salad Still SQUAKING meaning RAW - bright pink with maybe with just the outskirts cooked if that. UGH. I am scarred for life. It was so disgusting. it almost looked like the rareness of tuna steak. and what makes it worse is that that chicken quality was probably lesser than that of Mc Donalds. It was so so gross people. How can a Chef or a waiter serve something like that to a customer. don't you pay attention? I am so disgusted with this place. need I say more? I am just appalled.
OF COURSE.......I did bring it to the waiters attention immediately!!! he was nice and all but obviously in la la land and he basically Microwaved it. He didn't seen taken back by it at all. Â It came back as a form of rubberized chicken. Â I wanted to be sick right then and there. My in laws (who I were dining with) couldn't stomach their salmon just thinking of the thought of the raw slab of meat on a salad.
Noone came out, apologized, nothing! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. you can see we were unhappy as our food was untouched, not even wrapped up.
Another 1 start note is that the hostess staff are NASTY. they judge you as soon as you walk thru the door with snarls and stares. I wouldn't care as much if the food was good but it just adds to the horrible experiences at RAW STONE!!!! Â Seriously an Outback should take over this place. At least you get a meal prepared with a little more TLC!!!!!!
Stylish and sophisticated... Intended to be chic and cutting edge... A place where the grown and sexy come to unwind and meet with their contemporary and in-the-know friends-- if the proprietors of this establishment had their vision come to life, this is what this review would look like. Instead-- probably because of the demographics of the area, Â but more likely because of the take-what-customers-you-can-get-because-we-sunk-a-Âboat load-into-this-place paralysis.
It is unfortunate because I can say the food is really notable and quite good. Were this a Bennigans it would be a 3 or 4 star scenario, but since this restaurant wants to step into the big leagues, it should be held to a higher standard... Otherwise we'd go to, well... Bennigans. Â Trust me, nobody is going to get dressed up and come here to mingle. At no point will people forget that NYC is a few miles east on the road where GrilleStone is and utter phrases such as "Girl,, I got your birthday all planned... We're going to GrilleStone!"
A few key points ... Our waitress had no make up on. Â This is important because it highlights the fact that the staff here is working here only because, hey it's a job. In the world of high end eateries, this is the proverbial kiss of death. This should be a highly sought after gig where the servers aspire for big tips and repeat customers. Â The reality being the booth next to mine with kids screaming and jumping on the chairs and tables, makes this restaurant a paradoxical tragedy of a dining experience. Service was not great either. Â I hate asking for water. Â I HATE having to ask for water.
(said twice for effect)
We noticed this place always had a crowd for the past year and decided to give it a try for lunch. Unfortunately, the first thing we noticed when we walked through the door was it smelled like a cats litter box (should have been our first clue to get the hell out). Â The service was okay and the sliders were nothing to write home about. Fries were served lukewarm to cold. Â As previous Yelpers have had mixed, but mostly negative, reviews we should have tried another place. Â It is a shame this place blows, as it is a good location, new building and area desperately needs a restaurant like this.
Review Source:Elegant looking, but just mediocre in total. Â NY strip steak was perfect; veggies hot/crisp; mashed potato good. Â Stinky house salad, should have skipped it. Â S.O. had meatloaf (hard to believe she ordered that at a restaurant). Â It was Very Good. Â Huge portion too. Â
Very extensive menu....looks like they're trying to be all things for all people. Â A fancier sports bar atmosphere. Â Very noisy. Â Don't take a booth with jumpy kids next over. Â You'll be bouncing too.
Pricey for what you get, but not bad. Â Location stinks; hard to get to on 22. Â Not sure it would be a high priority to go back.
Waitress Sarah was a treasure though.
Noisier than expected. Very close quarters
in the dining room. Apparently they launched a new menu 2 days ago. The waiter wasn't knowledgable of the menu. I ordered a drink with Absolut Citron and received Skyy Citron which I hate and could taste off the bat. Nice try. My grilled chicken was tasty and moist. My husband's Tuna was not to his liking. I would it another chance with a burger or steak but nothing much fancier. Not impressed overall.
Building looks good. So, you know, at least there's that. Classy and new even. It kind of stops there.
I dont know if its the tap or user error but they wasted sooooooo much guiness when pouring my beer. It was shameful. And in the 10, let me repeat that, 10 minutes it took to pour the beer (most times longer because they forgot about it) they spilled more than two pints worth. And it came out with literally two inches of head. There's an app for that. Â Then the bartender tried telling me that she was letting it settle and she didn't actually forget.
The food: meh. I had the "authentic Philly cheesesteak". Not so much. It was palatable, but not authentic. They tried. They failed, but they tried. Â It was nothing special and the fries were just as average.
Had I known that the food was going to be so blah I would have gone to just some random bar.
Also Thursday is trivia night. And I use that term lightly. Â I was kind of excited about some trivia with my food and beer.....unfortunately that did not happen. Â It was essentially two hours of "do you have this item" and then handing out raffle tickets. Â Then 15 min of pulling raffle tickets for bar schwag. Â There was eventually a few trivia questions, but they were about what things were down the street. Â LAME.
I think there was a Buffalo Wild Wings down the street, I wish I went there. Â You might too.
Been there couple of times...not sure whether its a sports bar or restaurant. Â Strange, unfriendly, uncomfortable decor that looks more like office furniture...and not too clean. Â The food is mediocre, glorified bar food. Â Looks like a good place for drink bargains. Â All is relative in this NJ area for dining out experience...so try it for yourself.
Review Source:The place has a nice facade and a very cozy atmosphere. I was incredibly hungry when i arrived so I decided to order their chips and spinach artichoke dip and  lemonade. They were great....until the entrees arrived. What a disappointment!!! Hubby ordered the bbq combo (ribs & chicken-BIG BLAH) with fries (stale)and I ordered the shrimp scampi(BLAH). I never tasted anything so bland!! I hate giving negative reviews but I think this place deserves it.
Review Source:We went for a bday celebration, and there was practically no service. I feel like place invested a ton of dough in the looks but little in service. We ended up wasting three hours there! Food wasn't even good! At any given time, there were at least 3 people standing around, including the manager!
That being said, the bloody mary's were excellent. Still, wouldn't go back.
I went yesterday for the first time. Nice place, good atmosphere. The service was good and we were served quickly. I ordered ribs which were the worst I've ever had. No flavor whatsoever, they tasted like they were boiled and left in the water too long. I know a lot of places par boil ribs, but these tasted like they had the flavor boiled out. The meat fell off the bone at the slightest touch of the fork.
I noticed this at the table near us and realized I made a mistake in ordering. I like to hold the ribs but this was impossible as I had to eat everything with a fork. Just horrible ribs. Despite this I will be back because the hamburger looked very good and they grill a half pound natural casing Best's beef hot dog. My wife had the prime rib and she said it was ok; she's had better. I had a taste and it was like heaven after the horrible ribs I had.
Next time I'll try the burger and/or hot dog. I think I'll stay away from the other menu items.
Calamari was chewy and dry. To the person who posted about the sauce that they didn't try? That's remoulade. The rotisserie chicken potpie didn't have alot of chicken and the vegetables were undercooked and cut into small cubes -- just like the frozen type, which I suspect they use. Hmm. Nothing was well seasoned. Overpriced. Teenagers for servers with those prices?! Â And the 'minimalist" decor with square tables, plates, and done-to-death-by-now pendant and recessed lighting is about as unique as a Starbucks. If this place lasts, it would be a miracle.
Review Source:Ended up here because a friend suggested it but quite frankly i'd never heard of it prior. The ambience is trendy/modernish, we luckily got sat in a booth but the tables looked pretty uncomfortable. Nevertheless i'm partial to the booth, booth lover i am :) Service was friendly, our waiter joked with us about Man Vs. Food and other entertaining things.
food was good - not amazing but decent. I got the calamari as an app. I'm pretty picky about calamari, it was a bit chewy but seasoned really well. It came with a mayo dipping of some sort which i didn't even bother to try.....I asked for some spicy marinara and i got it promptly. The marinara was pretty good for plain marinara! Just an fyi, the calamari comes with lots of tentacle, if you aren't a fan, because i am not, then don't bother ordering or ask for rings only. I also got the skirt steak salad, nixed the steak & bleu cheese and added shrimp. It was really good for a salad and HUGE! It was dressed with a white truffle vinegarette... My friend got the filet mignon, said it was cooked just right. Also got the mac n cheese as an app & took the rest home, musta been good? I didn't bother to ask.
My only big complaint is we had not even really begun to enjoy our apps when our meals came out. I felt a bit rushed and for this NOT being a chain, i sure felt like i was in one, kinda, sorta...ok maybe not really. but why were we being rushed?
The place was half full and they had some live music, i think? I couldnt see her but i heard a jazzy styled singer. Might be a good place to check out for a football game, I noticed they have some good drinks specials.
Also they have outdoor seating which i love when the weather is nice, however only downfall is you are sitting on rt 22!! lol
We reviewed this place once before but I guess it was entered in a second time. Â Please forgive if it seems like we copied and pasted our review from the other entry because that's exactly what happened.
mac n cheese app, that's all i have to say! the burgers are huge and juicy and whatever that oil dip is for the bread is amazing. it's not 5 stars because drinks are weak (i've had vodka seltzers and mai tais there) and service varies. the first time we went we sat in the bar area and no one came over to us. we had to go to the bar to get someone's attention so a server would come over to our table and serve us. second time we went it was really crowded and we had a group of 10 for my friend's bday. we waited in the bar area for a table and could barely move. COAT HOOKS. please nail some in the walls because the most annoying part about waiting in the bar area was holding our huge winter coats the whole time. the service the second time there was slightly better even though she messed up someone's order. the salad I ordered was a little bare... was supposed to have mushrooms, goat cheese, walnuts, etc, and hardly had anything other than leaves. I ordered the chili which came out a bit cold and extremely salty and burnt tasting.
This place has potential. Order the mac and cheese app! it's a cross between a sports bar and I can't pin point what else... worth it to check it out though.
Another perfect example of "If you have enough money, you can open a restaurant."
Not like having good food or service should figure into the equation.
Note to Grillestone owners: Hip decor and funky music only gets you so far. And in this case, not far at all.
Went on a weekend afternoon, not busy at all, and they still managed to screw up the order (only two of us).
My complaint was met with a shrug, a halfhearted apology and a disappearing act by the server.
The second chance I gave Grillestone, and their second strike. I don't think they need a third chance, because contrary to the Meat Loaf song..."Two out of three IS bad...", at least where this restaurant is concerned.
Positive note: They got the drink order right! Yay!
Spend your money at Burger King across the highway. You're better off.
I've been here on 3 separate occasions. Why the 3 stars?? Â The service is extremely variable and the place can get annoyingly loud.
The service: Hoping they got rid of the ditzy 40-something server who "forgot" too many items: our drinks ("oh we ran out of glasses"), the bread (maybe she thought we were on a diet), and the correct check for our table ("oh you didn't order that?"). This was only once though and the other 2 times we visited the service was better.
The food: I have tried the turkey burger (just ok), but we LOVE the PIZZA here. LOVE the thin crust and the options of toppings that are reasonably priced.
The noise: don't come anywhere near or close to end of the happy hour. Â The small bar area often has live music/dj and it gets too loud and makes its way to the rest of the dining room - not the most pleasant.
Why do I come back? Â The pizza! I've seen some steaks that look tasty as well.
An old college buddy was in town for the weekend so we decided to try this spot for lunch because apparently many restaurants on 22 don't open until 4pm on weekdays. Â This restaurant has a cute decor and we sat by the windows and had a view of the highway. Â Our waiter was really nice, but the food is just average and the menu seemed limited. (However, the bar menu was extensive) Â The food is just as the name states, classic american. Â Nothing special, no frills. Â The bar area however was packed and it was midday. Not being a drinker I can't rate their drinks but from the look of the bar area if you are into alcohol then this might be the place for you. Â
We ordered appetizers, which I don't remember because we didn't really eat them. For the main course we ordered the penne in vodka sauce and the half chicken. Â Both were decent. The half chicken was huge. It is literally an entire half of what seemed to be a 10 lb chicken. Â I don't foresee coming here again anytime soon because I could easily go to a Friday's or an Applebees for the same experience and a cheaper bill. Don't get me wrong it's not expensive at all or horrible, it just does not warrant me coming out of my way for another visit.
Food was ok but be warned. They will spam you to death! Do not give them your email address. I didn't. Somehow they got it. Unless you confirm your email address with them they will not stop the spam! I hope they are not selling it!
Update; It is now a month later and they still are spamming me to death!
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night at the recommendation of my aunt. Â It's right on Route 22, near Bowcraft. Â There's plenty of parking. Â The restaurant itself is really pretty and modern. Â I really enjoyed the decor and ambiance. Â There was also a big, spacious patio with lots of seating. Â The bar side of the restaurant is really spacious, as well. Â It's definitely a place I'd return to, because there's plenty of options (patio, bar, restaurant).
We were seated right away, around 7 PM. Â There were a good number of tables open, which I was surprised about. Â The menu is huge, and there were tons of items that looked tasty. Â I want to come back to try more! Â The wine list was fairly extensive, with reasonable prices for the glass. Â There were also a lot of specials on beer and cocktails, such as half price Svekda flavored vodka cocktails. Â The waitress brought over rolls (just two, which looked a little chintzy), and olive oil with herbs for dipping. Â They were excellent. Â We ordered nachos for our appetizer and the portion was massive; we took more than half home. Â They were very good. Â The salsa was very fresh, as were all of the toppings. Â I ordered a margherita pizza for my meal and was only able to eat two slices, but it was really good. Â Fresh mozzarella and fresh basil - yummy. Â My boyfriend had the chicken pot pie, which he liked enough, but thought it was a bit too creamy. Â Our waitress was very pleasant and sweet throughout the meal. Â The desserts looked great, but we were way too full.
I definitely enjoyed my time here and want to come back!
Off of a few friends and coworkers telling me that I'm missing out on Grillestone, my friend and I decided to check it out on a random Wednesday night. We weren't expecting anything, but were pleasantly surprised by how upscale looking and friendly everyone was that night. Grillestone sits in the old Lone Star location on Rt. 22 West, but instead of throwing peanuts on the ground like at Lone Star, you get a full experience at this modern looking restaurant.
When we walked in and asked what the specials were for the day, we found out $2 domestics and $3 vodka mixed drinks. That is unreal and great. On my second visit when I brought another friend, we then found out they have a bar price of 8 Buffalo Wings for $5. That's really great. Unfortunately the wings weren't that great, but for the price, who really cares. I wouldn't mind drinking some Sam Seasonal's or Yuenglings for $2 and eating wings for $5. I spent $9 on my last visit and was very happy when I left.
It's not the first spot nor the second or third, but Grillestone can be that place where my friends and I go when we just want to relax, eat some wings, and watch some TV. No one bothers you, but you also don't feel like the town drunk in the local dive bar. It's a really nice place with a nice atmosphere.
*I took a look at the dinner menu and it's not so cheap. I think they just give up on the bar flies and give them insanely low prices.
We sat outside for a late dinner. While the view was a highway and the bugs were out in full force, we had a lovely, delicious, and reasonably priced meal. We shared a (large) personal pizza and the chicken pot pie. We started w warm rolls and oil, but only after asking a busboy for some.
We snagged a deal on the pizza because of a happy hour special so our total before tip for two entered and a lemonade was only $20!
My favorite thing at Grillestone, however, was the INCREDIBLE music selection! All my 90's favorites - from Vertical Horizon to Sugar Ray - were played.
I have been watching the transformation of this location from a vacant building to a completely renovated, modern restaurant. Â I do not know when it officially opened for business as I am not affiliated with it in any way.
Stopped in for lunch today with work colleagues. Â We were all pleasantly surprised by the lunchtime service ,as well as the value of the express lunches. Â We all ate like fatties for under $15 per person.
In talking to some locals, the spot is packed for dinner and it is hard to get a reservation, but lunch was a pleasure. Â I am really thinking about setting up a work happy hour here. this place destroys any other of the local spots we usually go to.
Very decent.
Burgers were very decent.
5 dollar happy hour drinks at the table to 7 pm (and we didn't even realize it!)
Very decent margherita brick oven pizza.
Very decent fried calamari.
Very decent service.
Very decent baby back pork ribs.
So, even though the bar was the typical Route 22 crowd (a bit scary), I would certainly go back for a burger and drinks. Â Refreshing change to spend $60 on dinner instead of the usual over 100 bucks.
Good place to bring kids too.
Overall, for a highway joint, "very decent".
There were good and bad things abouts this restaurant.
I made reservations for a group of 9 about 24 hours in advance for a Tuesday night. Â They took the reservation no problem and when we showed up the table was ready right away. Â The atmosphere and comfort of the restaurant was really nice. Â Plenty of space for 9 and we were all able to hear each other.
The service and food were questionable. Â I was very excited to order the Osso Bucco off the menu, but as I went to order they told me they no longer sell it and it has been removed from the menu. Â So I find a back up after everyone else finishes ordering the Braised Short Ribs. Â My waiter then informs me that they are out of that. Â So with that I just ordered a burger. Â
The speed of getting our order was relatively slow and then all of the order came out at different times, I was the last to receive my meal and it was about 15 minutes after the first person in my party received theirs.
No apologies, no offers for a free drink or anything, just a late plate. Â
The burger was ok, really greasy, difficult to eat, others in the group were not impressed with their meals. Â One actually sent the baby back ribs back because they were just awful. Â
For a somewhat pricey restaurant the look lived up to it, but the taste and service did not meet my expectations. Â Maybe it was the large group, maybe it was a bad night, but 3 stars for now.
