Ground Control! was great! I really appreciated that they didn't go with the whole hippie, peace, love, farm decor of most vegetarian restaurants, but rather created a classy peaceful space. I came here with a pretty large group (they take reservations, woo!) to provide our veggie friend from Baton Rouge with quality vegetarian food since the pickin's are slim in Louisiana for her kind (unless you count crawfish as veggies??). Ground Control! has a cute local vibe, good wines & beers for sale, and a menu that pleased the vegetarians and meat-eaters like me. As for food... GET THE WINGS! sOoo YUMMY. Soup of the day was great, as was the mushroom crostini (plenty to share too). My boyfriend and I ordered the two pastas and splitsied (word?).. they weren't huge, but they were filling and quite yummy (duh, it's pasta!). The Sweet Potato tacos looked outstanding, as did the Baha ones. Carrot cake & chocolate cake were delicious for being vegan. Yes, I did say "for being vegan", I'm not going to pretend that was anything like the cheesecake factory. Best of all, it's super close to Scofflaw so head down there afterwards to continue the party!

I was very excited to find another Vegan place not to far from where I live.  It's a cute restaurant that has great food.  I like the tofu tacos and wings;  they were absolutely delicious.  The service also was good and I like the decor very much. The price is reasonable but definitely not the cheapest.   I think this place has a lot potential and I hope to see a more extensive menu because everything I had so far was delicious.

just because a restaurant claims to serve vegetarian dishes does not mean that they are claiming to be the healthiest restaurant in the world. nor does it mean that they are claiming to cater to your impossible food trend expectations. ground control is a restaurant that is catering to the idea that just because you don't eat meat doesn't mean that your food can't be fried, pickled and spicy! which is what i experienced when eating here.

first i had the buffalo tofu wings. delectable! deliciously spicy and perfectly crisp, your grandpa wouldn't know he was eating tofu!

next up i had their poboy which consisted of batter-fried mushrooms with pickled cabbage and onions, tomatoes and greens on a hoagie roll with garlic vegannaise and more of that awesome buffalo sauce. THIS is food that makes me think i could quit meat. such flavor! this came with a side of mashed potatoes with a pool of mushroom gravy in the middle. the gravy tasted a little off to me - definitely a lot of soy sauce which i've never used to make gravy before, but then i can't even imagine making gravy without pork fat and the consistency was perfect so kudos!

ground control IS willing to cater to your vegan, gluten-free diet as well. but if you are going to request that something be prepared in a manner other than how the dish was INTENDED to be served, then you can't really justify criticizing it. that's like asking picasso to paint something without using the color blue and then telling him it's not quite as good as his other work. if you're vegan/gluten-free i recommend trying one of their salads. the avocado salad is radical with it's pineapple chunks and citrusy dressing and the zesty is a particularly refreshing combination of flavors with hints of mint, basil and savory bits of fried tofu (no breading but they seem to be flavored with soy sauce, yum!).

the staff is very friendly and inviting, too! familiar people willing to do anything to make your experience a delightful one. i'll definitely be back!
