Food was tasty, I had the honey grilled salmon, not a puerto rican dish btw. Just wish it wasn't so dry. The service there is awful. They need to fix that. Took 45 min for our food to come and what we ordered doesn't take long to make so not good. My pay to park sticker expired right after we got our food and i paid for an hour. Also we barely saw our waitress so we were ready to leave but couldn't get the check. Don't think they like groupons either. I bought my groupon because it was so close to home but never again.
Review Source:*** Dancing doesn't start until 10PM *** DJ is decent but the music is deafening loud. :( Â Recently the music selection was ~60% merengue, ~30% cumbia, ~10% salsa, and one (1) cha cha. Â Apparently they sometimes have a live band, which seems like it would be fun.
The "papas bravas" appetizer is absolutely fantastic. I hate cilantro and Tumbao didn't blink an eye leaving it out. I can't wait to have this dish again! Â They don't havve any beer on tap, which is sad, but they have a wide assortment of bottled beers.
Ambiance is latin and modern. The entire restaurant is narrow and long but nicely decorated. Dance floor is just a cleared space in the back but decent. Â Plenty of room for eight to ten decent dancing couples!
For the recent five-year anniversary of this bar they has a fantastic salsa band and some wonderfully hot dancing. (Though a disproportionately high number of women there, so fellows, please come and even out the dance floor!) Â
While the musicians were awesome, the DJ-ed music between sets was pretty horrific, mostly B-rate pop songs from the late 80s. Â It seemed to evoke some high school nostalgia for the older clientele, but was pretty cringe-worthy for us.
The $7 cocktails were sadly weak, but otherwise this was a nice place. Â Very non-pretentious and full of regulars. Â The owner is very nice. Â I wish him the best of luck towards the ten-year. Â Just fix some stronger drinks, man.
