I have eaten at F.H. Riley's a couple of times and it is consistent every time.  Although service can be a little bit slow, the food is great.  My favorite is the shrimp and lobster BLT.  They also serve hummus to start, which is a nice touch.  My only suggestion would be to change the fries!  They are awful after 5 minutes of being on the table!

A local favorite. Always a great meal, and incredibly consistent. Personal favorites include the Three Cheese Spinach Dip, Autumn Harvest Salad, Mac and Cheese, and Blackened Salmon Pita... although you really can't go wrong. We've been there for lunch, dinner, and happy hour at the bar and always get great service. A nice selection of beer on tap and various other types of beverages. Riley's also has outdoor seating during the warmer months - great for people watching and beautiful Huntington nights!

As a side note - there is metered parking all throughout Huntington, and many municipal lots including behind the restaurant and another a few blocks down. Stop reading, go to Riley's!

I love this place. Great for lunch or a late night dinner. The Harvest Salad with blackened chicken and the Meatloaf are amazing! The only negative thing I can say is never get delivery! Their system is terrible and it takes 90 mins to two hours sometimes especially if they are busy.

Went here for the first time last week and was blown away. Heard about this place from a friend and will def be returning soon. Food and service were both wonderful. Our waiter was personable, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He helped us narrow down our food and drink choices as literally everything looks reallllly good. They got some yummy beers on tap, i couldn't resist a dogfish 60 min ipa and my wife had a coconut martini maybe?. We ended up sharing the calamari for an appetizer, then the meatloaf and gumbo for entrees. Everything was amazing and the portions were huge. Tables are pretty close together but overall this place is a gem.

Riley's came recommended by a foodie friend so I had high hopes.
It was very busy the night we went in so I feel I have to go back before I really give a full review.  Service was iffy, food had potential.

Huntington seems to be the culinary epicenter of Long Island and F.H. Riley's is likely one of the reasons why.  I've been wanting to eat here for years now, as I've been a long-time listener of the Opie & Anthony show.  The name of the restaurant sounds like it's just another restaurant pub that serves bar food, but I assure you it's not.  We started off with the calamari, which was generous in serving size and perfectly crisp and had lots of flavor.  The hubby had fish & chips which was a plate full of fried goodness.  The real standout was the Bistro Burger.  It was simple (I'm a purist when it comes to my burgers...no weird toppings for me), the meat was juicy and flavorful, and HUGE (I could only eat half).

I also cannot say enough great things about the service.  Everyone that worked there was friendly and welcoming.  Our server was really helpful about recommending items since it was our first time there.  I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu items!

I have been here for numerous Opie and Anthony events and even when during those times of the occasional debauchery , the food and service shines very brightly.
Got a chance to come back for lunch and was "WOW" ed even more.

Started out with the Mozzarella Tower which consists of Arugula , grilled veggies and drizzled with a warm roasted tomato vinaigrette. This app is simplistic but it works so well and was outstanding. Also ordered a 1/2 size Asian Crunch Salad. I have become in recent years a fanatic for a good Asian salad although looking at me , you might have a had time believing that.
Brett's interpretation of execution of this salad is so amazing , you can eat it w/o the dressing and it would be awesome. I had the dressing on the side so I can taste the salad on its own. The dressing is light but packed with layers of flavor.
Decided on the classic Fish and Chips, which came with 2 good sized pieces of fish battered in a Ale and fried lightly. Fish was outstanding , I would put at a close second next to Salt & Battery in NYC which says a lot.
It comes with a Cucumber Cole slaw and a Malt Aioli for dipping. I am not usually a fan of anything cucumber but have to give them props to making this slaw even better.

Overall my experience was above average on many levels, the staff is always attentive, helpful and friendly.
Only issue is a common one , parking is always an issue usually anytime in the village. Next time I am back on LI, I look forward to paying them another visit.

The first time i ever tried this place, it was about 2:30 on a weds afternoon, walked in sat down right away and was enjoying the cool breeze coming threw the open windows. My parents and I couldn't believe we have never been here before! The food was so yummay.. we devoured the spinach dip that the owner asked us if we wanted him to bring us more! The Mac & cheese is delish, I actually never had a bad meal there or experience. I always called it huntingtons best kept secret, i felt it wasnt getting the recognition it deserved up until maybe the last year or so. If you looking for a relaxed atmosphere fair prices and delish food, this is your place! Every time I go I cant wait to go back again :)

This review is NOT about their food as I also did not stay long enough to try any of there food which was incredibly disappointing. ( I am the friend of the other reviewer who went to try this restaurant)  I was looking forward to trying the food that fellow yelpers raved about but the initial service was horrible I had to walk out.

Just a quick background on my experience with this restaurant....many times I have come by to eat lunch here on a Monday and always walked away confused because outside of their door their hours state that they are open Mondays 11:30am-10:00pm and I'm looking inside and it's dark.... I tried to call the phone number and no answer of course and then when I tried to reach out on their FB page I received some smart remark that they have a note posted that their hours change seasonably or something along those lines....

Anyways I will just stay away from this place from now on. Any service from this place was a bad experience. Guess its just not meant to be.

But I won't cry haha there are plenty of restaurants with delicious American food in Huntington village with personable service.

    Your loss Rileys!

Great place to sit and have dinner. The all you can eat pasta night here (not sure if they still do it) is great, everything is made to order and the quality is high. If you are looking to get away from the dank pubs the standard fare, check this place out.

There's really nothing negative to be said about this place, except maybe its size.
The food is awesome. We had the calamari-INCREDIBLE. and the chicken spring rolls-great!!
I had a salad for dinner, definitely didn't need the full for the meal after apps, probably would've been okay with the side or half size.
Everyone loved their meals, our group had the steak sandwich, California salad, meatloaf and Napoleon salmon. Everyone cleared their plates. Great meal and great service.

Riley's is def a step up in class from most of the dives in Hton.  The bartenders are nice and chat it up with ya when it's not too crowded.  There aren't an overwhelming number of taps but they usually manage to sneak 3-4 unique brews in there (always a Blue Point or two).  The place can def get crowded on Fri and Sat nights so come early or be prepared to wait for a little.

On the food side of things, people talk a lot about the Mac n cheese, which is really good but it's a HUGE portion.  I suggest rocking a side order of it for the table with your dinner.  Sliced steak sandwiches and the blackened chicken sandwiches are BOMB and served with crunchy lil shoestring fries.  The gumbo and the skirt steak are also very good dinners here.  For starters hit the spinach dip, calamari (awesome soy/ginger dipping SAWse), and the spring rolls to get your fried on.  Riley's is a great place to grab a bite and a brew before hitting the town.  Hell, it's even nice enough take a date here (if she pays).

Tip:  Grab a site of Tabasco onion fritz.  They are addicting.

Ramooone (sorry, had to do it)

This place is ridiculous. The mac and cheese, the buffalo chicken spring rolls are insane. All the food is fresh. My girlfriend loves the salads. Great atmosphere, really friendly service. Went there for St. Patty's a couple of years ago and had a blast. Too bad I live in shitty miami now, but this is truly a gem.

    Who knew?

I must have passed F.H. Riley's 100 times and never even looked in the windows until last weekend when it was an hour wait at Besito we decided to give them a try.  Thank God we did!  It was excellent and completely surprising!  Started with the Crunchy Chicken Spring Rolls which were absolutely loaded with big chunks of chicken.  My wife had Grecian Salad and I had Sliced Steak Sandwhich with a side of Mac & Cheese.

The portions are large, the food is fresh and delicious and its extremely affordable.  On top they've got a great selection of beers which is the icing on the cake for me.

Stop in, you wont be disappointed!

My family and I went to FH Riley's on a Friday night to celebrate my boyfriend separating from the military/getting a new job as well as our return to the east coast. We were there a little early for dinner which was great because we beat the Friday night crowd. Since my dad had gotten their earlier than us i found him at the bar chatting it up with a very lovely man who gave some great menu tips. The jambalaya was incredible! Once the whole party arrived we were seated by a very polite hostess. The drinks came fast and were perfectly poured. We ordered the buffalo chicken egg rolls as well as the calamari for appetizers. I couldn't believe how incredible the calamari was. The flavor was incredible and the dipping sauce was perfect! It's been a few weeks since we were there and I'm still dreaming of it. Their menu had a huge assortment of deliciousness! I ordered the highly acclaimed Mac and Cheese with Lobster Meat and i ordered the full portion because who doesn't love leftovers for lunch the next day or in this case the next 2 days.  While it was way more food than I could eat I was glad to have a hefty portion to take home.

We had such a great night, but it was even better when Pepper the manager came over and told us the bill was on him because they appreciated my boyfriends service in the Air Force. How incredible is that?!? Pepper was such a nice person and we still talk about how we can't believe they did that for all of us. I was also thankful for my Dad's big mouth since he was the one who mentioned to the waiter why we were celebrating that evening.

We will definitely be returning here on our future trips to NY. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had.

Stopped in for lunch. Steak sandwiches amazing!

Came back for the cool beer blends - "half baked" is Guinness with Blue Point Toasted Lager - very good!

Friendly staff - small dining area, but wouldn't stop me from returning.

The food is surprisingly better than the appearance of the place would suggest! Yum.  The sliced steak sandwhich w/ mushrooms is great. There are competing steak sandwhich places in this town.. notably Finnigans down the street.  Salads here are good also and healthier.

You can sit outside in the summer which makes it better still. View to NY Avenue.. what's better than that? hmm well then drive north to Prime and see the water..

First thing that sticks out is the décor, it has two beautiful chandeliers in the dining room, which is a good distance from the bar. The inside is very spacious and overall very classy. F.H. Riley's is fairly new, opened up in 2006 and you can definitely notice as everything seems clean and fresh.

A well stocked bar, vast menu, and everything is fairly priced. I did not have a chance to try the well reviewed mac & cheese however the food I did try was pretty good. They definitely don't short you on the portions, both dishes I saw were massive ( burger & buffalo chicken sandwich). Both dishes received positive vibes and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The service was meh, we sat at the bar and the bartender seemed to be in a bad mood but whatever. Food didn't take long so overall the service wasn't memorable, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing sometimes.

Great Food, Excellent Value.  Eat in or Take-out, I have become a regular.  This place covers it all, and does it well.   Half portions are an excellent compromise to a full meal!

My first time here, shortly after they first opened, was one of the worst experiences of my life.

However, that having been said, my friends coerced me into going again about a year ago (expounding on Mac and Cheese delicacies and promising a wonderful experience) - and I loved it! I've since been back many times and never had a bad meal.

The service can be iffy - we tend to sit at the bar if its slow and order apps and sometimes I'm not altogether sure we're being seen - but I've had great table service. The place can get packed and sometimes its as if you're dining with the table next to you but hey, maybe its an opportunity to make new friends!

Love this place!  A bit pricey and sometimes the tables are too close together, but I love this place.  The skirt steak is amazing and I've never had a bad meal here.

This is a nice pub in Huntington Village. I recently visited on a Saturday night. Every table was full and there were quite a few people at the bar as well. Despite a reservation and arriving early, there was a 45 minute wait for a table. While waiting, I noticed they had ~10 beers on tap, I ordered the Spaten Oktoberfest. They also have 2 flatscreens in the bar area, football was on this evening.

Once seated, we ordered the mussels appetizer (tasty broth). They also served bread with hummus. For my meal, I had the ribeye steak, which was served with asparagus. And I swapped the fried for mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to the right temp, but it was smothered in this brown cheesy sauce. It was not what I was expecting, but after a while I got used to it.

I was not truly impressed with this place, but it was decent enough to give it another shot.

Great place, small "pub" like atmosphere and great food.  Non-locals beware: this place is NOT a few blocks from the LIRR train station like the guy from Brooklyn noted in a few previous posts - it's 1.5 miles away (the 4 minute quote on Mapquest is DRIVE time, not walk, trust me!) and  yes, you'll need a taxi to get there - or you could walk down in 30-40 minutes, but you'll want a taxi to come back up the steep hill after you've eaten the mac & cheese. :)  Taxi should run you $10 one way (LI taxis are more expensive than NYC taxis).

    Still cooking

We popped in for a few drinks and snacks and were happy to see that the place is still humming.  Food is still damn good and everyone at the bar initially had a ball listening to some crazy heroin-chic couple who clearly didn't care how loud they were- or that they were discussing the innermost workings of her girl parts...  It became cringe worth after that...

Oddball customers aside- you should absolutely go!  You'll be happy you did.

We had an early dinner on a Saturday night and really enjoyed the food at F.H. Riley's. Our dinners, fish and chips for me and a rib eye steak for my husband, were both generous portions. The fish was very fresh and  the chips were nice and crisp (although a bit skinny) .My husband was very satisfied with the way his steak was cooked and the awesome fingerling fries. I think this was one of the best fish and chips I've had. The place got filled up pretty quickly with couples, families, groups of friends. It had a nice pub vibe where people get together for a good meal and drinks.

FH's is a great local bar/restaurant but lends it self really well to a great spot to get some great food. The menu is constantly changing with the seasons and the atmosphere inside is that of a cool bar with a non pretentious nice place to grab a bite. I love going here for lunch which has been consistently excellent. Dinner here is always good, served by a good staff and not overpriced. It's definitely a place to give a shot to if you have to already yet!

Here are the basics: Nice, small bar up front, nice decor. Casual. Older crowd -- 40s mostly. Always crowded around 7-8 on the weekends.

The menu is huge and they have a rather large specialty beer list. The food is all very good, if not spectacular. Worth a visit, for sure.

F.H. Riley's definitely has some of the best food around, I absolutely love it all!!!

Brett the owner/chef really knows what he is doing in the kitchen.  He cooks everything perfectly and its all so good.  The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality of the food.

The bar atmosphere is really cool too.  I have been there for just dinner on a Saturday night or for a huge party on St Pat's and had a great time under all ocassions.

I defintiely recommend it highly, I just wish they were closer to me so I could go more often!!!

My doctor's office is nearby; I had gone there because I wasn't feeling so great the past few days.  I needed some lunch, so I decided to stop by here after reading the reviews raving about the mac and cheese.

I ordered it, and it was totally not what I expected.  It had a cheesy, creamy sauce with tomatoes and bacon and breadcrumbs sprinkled on top.  It wasn't baked in the oven, but it was still yummy regardless.

I chatted with the bartenders during the entire time, they were SO friendly!

We usually eat in Huntington Village once a week. This place has great food, relativley cheap with generous portions. Decent beer selection, not as good as some of the other local places, but enough for everyones palate.

We will be returning! ( We went on A Thursday, not very crowded, but I hear it draws a nice weekend crowd)

The first time I took a bite of the mac and cheese I was absolutely hooked. This was clearly no ordinary restaurant, this is a place with character and real characters working there. From the bartenders to the wait staff, and even Brett the chef himself all help make for a great atmosphere. It doesn't end there, when you sit down they bring you over some rich humus to have with your bread and to tide you over until the appetizers and entrees arrive.

The restaurant is a little snug but not too crowded. For appetizers I highly recommend the Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls, the Mac and Cheese, the Hangar Steak is one of my favorite dishes, and there is no way I can forget their absolutely amazing char-grilled burgers. Easily my favorite well-cooked burger of any local place, served with crispy fingerling potatoes it's a truly great experience all around.

The bartenders are well talented and make some great mixed drinks with theatrical flair. While not exactly exotic I love their black and tans.

I love the mac and cheese and the chicken spring rolls.  I find myself craving the food here more often than not.

The hamburgers are amazing and you have to come for the corned beef and cabbage during St Patrick's day.  There is something for everyone on the menu.

    Great wait staff.  Very friendly.

Moving to Cincinnati, I am definetly going to miss my nights at F.H. Rileys.  Try the "Crackling Calamari" (even if you're not a calamari fan), its legendary.  Also, the Meatloaf is the best Meatloaf i ever had. The booze flows on the weekends, and its always a good time, incorporating a great bar with great food.  And the cliental is good, not guido-y long island guys and trashy long island chicks, actually good decent people go there.  Check it out
