You know, it took me twenty-two years to visit the most popular diner in my hometown. But I was definitely pleased with my experience.

I ordered a chicken salad sandwich-- it contained a perfect chicken to mayo ratio and the chicken was in manageable chunks. My companion's omelet was enormous and was filled with bacon-- it looked quite unhealthy, but she seemed pleased with it.

I'll definitely have to return. Good service and good diner food=happy me.

Decided to skip the extra drive to Penn Queen and go to my neighborhood Diner since I had such a great experience last week for dinner at the adjoining Sweetwater  Cafe', the branzino fish was great. Well the empty diner was pleasant but no TV, and for what I payed 7 Bucks for at Penn Queen last week including coffee,($5.45 + Coffee) and my favorite, grits, I payed $8.77 for with NO coffee.  I think they should not charge xtra for egg whites...heck it is not like they are separating the eggs themselves... anyway won't be back for breakfast, at least during the week...I will be back to Sweetwater Cafe'

Visited restaurant late last Saturday after long day of driving.

    A real treat.

Though I'd never been there before was treated like we were the best customers they'd ever had. Lot of attention and excitement over a very fairly priced menu. I don't get that in places that cost three times the price.

Food was what you'd expect at  the price point but in every instance with a nice twist .. whether the choice of roll on the steak sandwich or salad ingredients. Nice beer selection as well.

    Look forward to returning.

Three stars goes to the combo breakfast because the pancakes and french toast were very good. They lost a star because I asked for eggs that are not wet or oily,  and guess what I got. Wet oily eggs-gee whiz! The decor was ok, tables were clean and the staff was ok (although I was asked if I wanted the eggs wrapped up - NOT!!) I would go again though.

Had their chowder here recently and must say you could stand a spoon up in this cement like glue, it was easily some of the worst chowder I ever had.
The Pastrami Reuben was OK and worth a star or two.
I think the owners hold on for the real estate value, some time soon I'm sure a Walgreen's will come along.

Diner turned trendy restaurant/bar in Cinnaminson.  Will it work?

The back of the diner has been transformed to a cool space with stone and mirrors and TVs.  There's a back patio that is nice on those warmer evenings (or for you smokers that need a puff).  Based on decor the new space is inviting, warm and welcoming and the new staff, like delightful Cathy, are engaging and efficient.

Still too new to rate fully, can the facelift pack 'em in here in C-town?  Will the faithful bypass the divey Jug, Whistler's or Ott's for upscale digs?  Did the diner menu get an upgrade with the decor?  Stay tuned for more on the food.

Great breakfasts. We sometimes stop here for a quick lunch or inexpensive dinner. The tuna club is wonderful. It's always served with fresh, very green leafy lettuce, tomato and sliced hard-boiled egg, which makes it surprisingly delicious. French fries are always cripsy and not overly oily. The diner is always very clean and service is quick and friendly. They are in the process of building an outdoo stone patio/deck which looks really nice. They do serve drinks here as well, and they have a bar area in the rear. It is not a rowdy scene however. Nice place to bring mom and the family for a meal.

Just had dinner with my wife. I got the Prime Rib special, Prime Rib 8oz,Stuffed Shrimp and Mushroom, 2 sides and house salad all for $17.95. My wife ordered the same minus the stuffed stuff. Meat was cooked right and food was decent. Mashed Potatoes left something to be desired, but broccoli was fresh. Services was pretty quick and friendly.  Our waiter was Glenn L. He was fast with refills and our request.

    Pros-
    Price
    Selection
    Service

    Cons-
    decor is old
    sticky menu
Salad plate made it hard to mix my dressing in

No, NJ does not have great diners. NJ just got a rep for all its many diners. Big difference. Ever watched Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives? Know how most of them have some signature dish or dishes? This is a-typical of NJ diners! New Jersey diners are formulaic and potentially coma-inducing!

Now that this myth has been disspelled by my expertise, let's commence with talking about Hathaway's in particular--or Club Hathaway's as my coworker and I jokingly refer to it. Why? Because now there is a bar. Why? We're not sure. Do people go there? I suspect.. some do. Why? I'm not sure.

But Hathaway's is fine. The wait staff has always been nice when I've come, usually during lunch. And I dig the big fish in the tank up front. Oh, that's not a legitimate compliment?

Well, the spinach dip here is as yet unmatched, not even by the local farmer who sells his homemade version at the Collingswood Farmers Market. So. There you go.

Additionally, the specials for lunch are pretty decent. I'm not a huge fan of their split pea soup, but the lentil soup is awesome. And the turkey lunch with stuffing is not dry but in fact flavorful and well-portioned.

I've never felt sick after eating at Hathaway's.

Wife and I went to Hathaway's today.    Highly Disappointed.   After waiting for 15 Minutes for a seat we were greeted by Bill our waiter.  We shared with that we were ready to order.   His response was They were in the middle of waiting on a party of 40 and that it didn't matter that we were ready to order  we weren't going to get our food anytime soon due to the large party.   Well All I have to say is if a Diner can't multitask on a Sunday and serve more than one party at a time  Houston You have a problem!   When we finally got the food  we noticed there's no Ketchup bottles on the table.  Bill ended up bringing Souffle cups full of ketchup.  I guess things have gotten so bad at Hathaway's they are now beginning to ration Ketchup.   Next time we decide to go out to breakfast   I will  take my business some where else.

Ponzio's over Hathaways? Yes I agree. Harvest Diner over Hathaway's? No way! I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with the first 2 reviews about Hathaway's.

i have been going there with my Aunt since I was a little kid and I remember the Old Hathaway's and when the current one opened up in 1987. The food is always good and the prices aren't too bad. Sure once in awhile a side might be over cooked or whatever and I'll give that also but overall Hathaway's is good. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile.

I would have to agree last reviewer, New Jersey is known for diners. What sets you apart from all others, this one does not. It lacks all the Above..When I worked close by, one of my coworker & I went there. It was Awful, I'm being nice, horrific. Tasted like straight out of a can, soup, if you get breakfast, its OK, but Everything else, sucks!!
Nothing , nothing other then it being somewhat clean sets it apart. Bland food, not economical at that .Take your money , go another 2 miles to Harvest ..or my favorite Mastoris, or Ponzio's in Cherry Hill.

This is a review by a vegetarian

New Jersey has a tradition of excellence in diners. This is not a joke. They do. A diner is a restaurant that serves three meals a day with breakfast being really good and the others being good value and having a wide selection. They also tend to do a lot of their own baking at such stalwarts of Garden State tradition.

Hathaways just does not belong in the pantheon of Olga's and Ponzio's. Breakfast is fine but all the other meals are blech. The cheese ravioli tastes pre-made AND canned; same for the tomato sauce in which it is drowned. One DC declared that the side on her plate was not mac'n'cheese , she had had mac'n'cheese, this was not it , could not be it, would render the fabric of space/time if one were to declare the solis yet gelatinous mess to be mac'n'cheese. Fish.... slathered in as much onion and olive to cover the taste and make it "Mediterranean"

Dinner salads come with plastic pouches of dressing. Dude, try to sustain the illusion that some of the food is made here.

Service is excellent because NJ servers are the best anywhere and accounts for 1.5 of the stars.
