My second lunch visit in a month. First visit, very quite, food slow to come out, good service, food okay.
Second visit, very quiet, food quicker, good service, Pulled Pork Sandwich.....perhaps the best I've ever had. I was shocked!
If they keep this food quality up and do a better job with marketing, this place will be around for years to come. You guys are so close to getting it right it would be a shame to see you disappear due to lack of business.

Great staff.  Great setup.  No people.  Its a ghost town.  Ten people for a live band on a Friday night says something and it could say a couple of things.

My first observation would be that they aren't getting the word out and maybe need to hire a social media person or someone that can navigate today's way of marketing.  Its a neighborhood bar with no neighborhood (business area), so they have to go and get them to come there on purpose.  Very few people will just stumble into this location.  Great place for concerts, but no one shows up.  Its seriously, nicely set up and as I said, the staff is great.  Fun.  Very friendly.

Food!  Their food is not very good.  The cook is a nice guy, but his food isn't anything special.  It tastes bland and its smothered in commercial bbq sauce that isn't very good either.  The corn bread was gooey in the center, the chili was nasty and had chunks of hamburger patties in it (budget?), and the mac and cheese was elbow mac with some sort of cheese sauce poured on top.  They didn't even mix it in and it didn't taste good.  It was NOT homemade.  I've tried all the specialties and the best thing I've eaten there was a turkey sandwich (who can screw that up?).  For a BBQ themed menu, they really need someone who brings a unique flavor and their own BBQ recipes.  There is more to it than cooking it through and smothering it in sauce.  The greens were decent.  The wings, well, they were hot wings, but small little drummettes.  Nothing spectacular there either.  There is no signature to their food other than very average or even below average.  I have decided to avoid them until they get better food because I"m a foody.  I like to eat.  I don't like to eat there.

I wish them luck, but they've pretty much lost me for the most part.  When I drink, I need a food base and I can't get that there.  Seriously, get better food and then market the change and invite folks back.  You won't be successful with what you're serving now.  Sorry, but those are the facts.

There is a reason this place is dead.

Filthy place with greasy food compounded with crappy metal music that you can hear up to a half mile away. Is that were you wanna eat? Probably not.

Personally, I would not want to support the rude people that run this place. It's one thing you have a filthy white elephant restaurant and another when you play crappy metal music FULL BLAST to everyone in the surrounding area. I can't imagine working in the same shopping center as these people.

This has got to be one of the loneliest bars I've ever been to. I can see the potential, with the the space this place has, but it's going to need some serious promoting to reach it. Lots of space to park too.

I had the food during the Super Bowl (was trying to avoid massive crowds and I betted with some friends that it would be practically empty - it was). Food was actually pretty decent; love the potato chips.

Overall, it just needs a slightly bigger crowd and I wouldn't mind coming here more often. As it stands - for me, personally - it's so empty at night, I actually get sad by the lack of crowd.

Having to fly out of the OC airport, I needed a place to lay over for a few hours. I yelped and checked out this place and decided to visit. I was lucky enough to meet and have had fun wih the kind and hilarious bar tender Marina. There were delicious cockails and good ribs and french dip shared with a long time friend. Thank you Hogues and Marina!! We will be back for the great drinks and food again soon!!. C U Diane and friend.

Good place to hangout after work or grab some food which is surprisingly good.  It's mostly barbecue food on the menu and everything i've tried has been good especially the burgers.

The staff is all friendly and attentive and there is a decent selection of beers although some taps can be pretty flat as if they aren't rotated often enough. They also have live music occasionally at night.

    Now the negatives -

There seems to be a lot of wasted space, outside of the actual bar most of the seating is wooden and uncomfortable, this place could really use some nice vinyl booths that people could relax in to watch the music at night.

There is a group of older loud pervy drunk dudes in there almost everyday. The make creepy comments to the bartender girls who smile and take it all in stride but it's pretty annoying for anybody that is sitting there trying to spend time with friends or watch the game on TV.

All in all if this place would do a little remodeling and add some ambiance it's a place I would probably hangout at a few times a week rather than once every month or two.

A group of us went to Hogue's for lunch on a Friday at 11:30am-well, after waiting over 1 1/2 hours for food, some of us were able to actually eat our meals, some had the food boxed up, and another person just canceled their order because the wait was so long! That said, the server told us there was only ONE cook in the kitchen, and since we had a large party (about 10 people, and there were 2 other groups of parties there also, who waited just as long AND longer for their food.  A couple of people came in for lunch, sat and waited for a while and walked out!) and asked for separate checks, the cook was preparing the food ONE MEAL AT A TIME.  Are they kidding me?  The server also said "if you would have called us about your party we would have staffed up."  I advised the server their website says nothing about notifying them about a party. Regardless, the place was not that busy-and the manager (Carrie) never came over to our table to apologize for the long wait, nor did she comp us a drink or two. Nothing!  The food at Hogue's has always been good (we've been going there for years) but the service is just unacceptable. We will not be returning. If I could grade this establishment "zero" stars I would.

came here for lunch with some co-workers and we had a horrible experience here :( we walked in around 1230 on a friday and even though the place wasnt that busy, everything just took forever for our lunch and whats worse, none of us were actually satisfied or impressed with our meals. i know it wasnt our servers fault b/c she was the only one working the place and you could tell she was hustling to try her best to service the people that were there...but she told us that there was only 1 person in the kitchen and thats what was backing everything up so we were left with no choice but to wait for our food after we placed our orders...

then when our food came out, it wasnt that great :-/ i ordered the french dip ($11) and the roast beef was tough and chewy but i did enjoy the steak fries that came with the sandwich haha. one of my co-workers ordered the fried chicken sandwich and he said that the chicken breast was too thick and hard to eat. my other co-worker ordered the burger and he didnt even attempt to really eat it b/c the inside of the patty looked raw/frozen still and rather complain and get a new burger, he just ate his fries b/c he knew it'd take too long to get a replacement burger...unless they get their act together in the kitchen, we probably wont be returning to Hogue's for lunch at least. it does seem like a better place to grab a beer or 2 though

My one and only time at Hogue's was a success.  It was karaoke night, which was as awkwardly entertaining as you can imagine.  We had an AWESOME bartender from Indiana who knew her bourbon and kept us entertained.  I would be a regular if it was at all nearby.  This bar is a laid back, relaxed place that is kind of hard to find and out of the way, which I think is a plus.  I also like that the name sounds very made up.  And yes, they have Macallan.

Okay, it's been a while since I've left a review and I have many to write so I'll start with Hogue Barmichaels as I seem to frequent the joint quite a bit.

The new look is much better and brighter than the old and there is an overall vibe that is much more inviting. 5 Stars for cleanliness and overall look.

As far as the staff, AMAZING! The management has done a stellar job making sure the supporting cast is on point!

Seeing as though I am a BBQ aficionado I had to try everything, so this review is the culmination of several visits to Hogues. All BBQ places have their "best sellers" and I'd say Hogues would be the sampler platter because you get a little bit of just about everything. Now, the amount of food you get for $17 is ridiculous and is definitely for two or more! That and a couple of side dishes, like their homemade potato salad or delicious mac and cheese, is all you need to enjoy a dinner for two for under $30.

I really liked the pulled pork and french dip sandwiches for lunch and the dessert is amazing! The cheese cake is fantastic.

The only thing that wasn't a hit, in my opinion, were the burgers, they're kind of small. Other than that, you'd be hard pressed to find somewhere with GREAT entertainment and amazing food and Hogues has it all, you can even bring the kids!

Nice clean place.  A lot of space and seating.  The staff is friendly and helpful.  Wide selection of drinks.  Drink prices are fair.  Food prices are a bit high.  Live music on the weekends.  If I was into live music, I'd come here often.  KJ Les hosts karaoke here.  His song selection is kind of painful.

First time visiting since the place re-opened as Hogue Barmichals.  I was shoked to notice they had BBQ on the menu so I of course I had to try it out.  They server Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork and Tri-Tip.  They have a rib / chicken and a Rib / Tri-tip combo, but I really wanted to try out the Ribs and pulled pork.  The watress allowed me to substitue Tri-Tip for Pulled pork so that's a plus.   The meal comes with corn bread and 2 sides.  I went with Mac N Cheese and Sweet potatoe fries.  The place only had a few people in so I was a little surprised that the wait took around 15 minutes.  I got 4 bones and a small portion of pulled pork on the side.  The cornbread with nice and thick and the fries and mac n cheese was ok.

Now on to the important part  THE MEAT..  First glance I could tell the ribs where either not smoked at all or not smoked much although the waitress said they have a nice smoker out back.  It was obvious that the ribs where either grilled or grill finished in some manner.  Didn't seem to have been cooked with the sauce on as the sauce was brushed just over the rack.  As I tried to pull the bones apart the meat just fell off indicating that it was over cooked.  Normally I like the meat to pull apart just a bit from the bone, but when you can't pick up the bone and still have meat on it's seriously over cooked and the texture ends up being pretty mushy.  Sure enough the first bite was pretty mushy and had no bite at all.  The flavor was really strong and earthy and although it wasn't a bad rib they could really have used some sweetener and a bit of vinegar to cut down the saltiness.  Pork should always have some form of sweetener either sugar, brown sugar, or molasses and even a little bit of vinegar on the sauce.  If not you end up with meat that taste too salty and earthy as it was in this case.  Because it was grilled it also had a light sour or bitter taste to the meat.  Again not horrible, but a little this and that and it could have been much better.

The pulled pork was shredded and I had a few chunks.  Again the pork needed some vinegar to cut through the earthy flavor, but it was much better than the ribs as it didn't have a finished char from the grilling.

The meal with a beer was just over $30 which is more of a dinner meal and was a bit too much food for lunch.  It would be nice to have smaller  "luch" combos that don't cost $20 plus and include 2 sides bread and watermelon on the side.  Maybe a 2 bone 1 side combo for around $15 or so.

All in all not a bad place, but it could have been so much better with a little more attention to detail.

They're back and better than ever!

Had the opportunity to come check out the new Hogue's and it's a pleasant surprise. They've got an all new menu focused on BBQ and burgers/sandwiches that's mouthwatering. I wish I could have sampled everything on the menu! They also have an impressive 28 beers on tap. A ton of craft brews and even Delirium on tap!

I had a chance to try the meaty sampler appetizer and it was very good. The prime rib was great. Also had a homemade bowl of chili. It has prime rib in it. Very good with onions.

Will definitely be coming back to sample more beers and BBQ.
