Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar

This was a real find in the OC. The ambience was W-Hotel-esqe: sleek, modern, hip, fun. We're pretty spoiled food and cocktail-wise being from the SF Bay Area, but Silver Trumpet delivered.  

We came for pre-dinner drinks and an appetizer.  The cocktails were very good (made by Sasha, whom we later met).  I ordered a cucumber mash gin martini, and Steve ordered a coconut-infused gin cocktail.  Good stuff (huge, tasty, and potent!).  We nibbled on yum-yum grilled calamari and saw some amazing-looking, tall sliders go by (2.50 each during Happy Hour).  

Our waitress Brandi helped us squeak in under the Happy Hour special time, and was sweet and helpful all around.  Towards the end of our stay, Jeremy (manager?) popped by to ask how everything was and filled us in on the changes Silver Trumpet is making to attract customers. Nice!

We'll definitely go again if we're in the area!

I like the atmosphere of this place, it feels European so much to me, especially music and design of the place. I never tried the food in there though, but it's great place to enjoy glass of wine in evening, especially outside. A friend of mine told me they also have good brunches, so, it's in my list of todo things for summer.

This review is for the bar only. It is located outside of the Wyndham hotel lobby. Very convenient. I met a co worker for drinks before dinner and they were having happy hour specials on cocktails and wine. Our bartender was friendly and to the point. The drinks were pretty standard. The ambiance was upscale and the clientele was mainly business professional and random hotel guests. What bumps this place the extra star is the way the bartender handled the Yelp check in offer. It was 10% off the tab with the check in offer, but since it was happy hour he said the manager wouldn't honor it. There was no stipulation anywhere on the offer itself, but after a long day I was not in the mood to argue over this. I continued to be cordial and we ordered another round of drinks. When we got the tab he only charged us $10 total for two rounds of strong drinks. That redeemed the check in fiasco and earned the bartender huge props and a generous tip.
