I always have a good time here. It does get loud when there are a lot of people there but at the same time it is usually because people are enjoying themselves. The bartenders are always nice and are knowledgeable of the bee they have on tap. The 30 taps are constantly changing. If you here the bell ring a keg was kicked!

One of a few sources of redemption in the downtown York area, which seems to be desperately trying to make a turn around. This place is an absolute gem that can compete in terms of beer selection with bars in Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Bar tenders are solid and can easily provide great recommendations. The food menu was pretty short and sweet the first several times though I understand that it has expanded since then.

Stopped in tonight for the first anniversary and they kicked 3 kegs of the 4 beers we tried. It was awesome that they had a barleywine for $3, free pizza and it was vinyl night. Such a great place with amazing owners. Will keep going back!

I am a chronic low talker whenever I'm ordering drinks at bars. Generally this leads to red bull and vodka instead of gin and tonic or no you can't get my number when all I asked for was a Leinenkugel. This has happened at Holy Hound about ten times but each time its led to a new and awesome beer that I'd never have ordered deliberately.

It should be noted that this is strictly a beer bar.... I think. This creates a more relaxed crowd that's basically there to drink good beer and not to frat out (not that there's anything wrong with that).  When it's nice out you can go chill on the front porch and take in some of that good country air and when it's cold out there are plenty of 7+ ABV options that can make you not worry about the growing bump on the back of your head from when you slipped on ice walking in.

There are a few TVs that will show Phillies games if they're on but they're not the focus. I believe they have bands come in on the weekends but HH is really all about the beer. The bartenders are overwhelmingly awesome and know about everything they serve no matter how obscure and they'll let you sample until you find what you're looking for.

I've never had a bad experience here and it's a must go to anytime boo and I come to York.

Holy Hound Taproom has been an excellent addition to downtown York. The beers are top notch and the pineapple salsa shouldn't be missed. Their food options are limited but they do offer delivery from the delicious "Busy Bee" which is located just down the street in Central Market house. I went to Holy Hound as part of the "Sweetest Pint Pub Crawl" which you can read about here:

Interesting and fun beer selection and a great new edition to the Downtown scene. Stopped in during my recent visit home for a few drinks early Saturday night. Was thoroughly impressed with the selection of beers, both in the variety of local PA breweries and also other more nationally recognized names. The service was attentive and really helpful - I think I sampled a few beers every time before making my next decision and received some great recommendations based on my preferences. We didn't have trouble getting a seat, but as we left the bar was definitely getting more crowded. They also had a live band playing. Look forward to coming back next time I'm in York and trying some of the food as well.

5 stars for beer, 3 stars for atmosphere.  Boyfriend and I stopped in here Saturday night while visiting from out of town.  It was super crowded - (limited) standing room only, and there was live music playing from a small stage set up in the front.  The music was so loud, we couldn't hear each other talk.  Not our style, so we each had one (excellent) beer and moved on.
I hate to judge poorly based on our one 10-minute visit - My hope is that this is actually a cool place to hang out and casually have a beer with friends earlier in the evening before the music and ruckus begins.

As one of many people who has a food allergy and enjoys dining out, I feel like this issue needs to be addressed.  On Wednesday night, I dined with a friend at the Holy Hound in York.  We each ordered a drink as well as a sandwich to share.  When our food was delivered, it only took a second to realize after biting into it, that it was NOT what we had ordered.  It was instead a crab cake sandwich.  I am deathly allergic to shellfish and have been since I was very young.  Realizing this, I immediately spit the sandwich out and notified the bartender of this very unfortunate mistake.  Instead of an apology, however, the bartender threw her hands in the air and stated "It's not my fault."  I knew that I immediately had to leave and seek medical attention so my friend asked for her credit card back (she had started a tab).  Instead of simply returning the card, however, the bartender proceeded to the register to ring up our bill for the drinks and meal (even though it was incorrect and had been their mistake), wasting precious time. Not one person was apologetic in the least nor did they offer us our food and drinks on the house.  The next day, I called and left a message for the owner requesting a return phone call.  I never heard back from anyone at the Holy Hound.  It would seem that the owner of the establishment has no concern for the treatment of his customers, especially for people with life threatening food allergies.  Although I was completely fine (I only had a minor reaction since I caught the mistake right away), I feel as though I deserve an apology at the least.  I understand that this was not the fault of anyone in particular, just an unfortunate mistake, but the way it was handled was completely irresponsible and abhorable.  What ever happened to customer service?

Holy amazing!!  So excited about the choice of beers here!  Quite a few stouts, my new favorite is the Springhouse Mint Stout - dessert in a glass.  The only thing that can make this place better is if the staff behind the bar had smiles on their faces instead of acting like I was a pain in the ass when I wanted to try a beer.  After a few beers I didn't care as much.  :-)

What a great place - great beer slection, reasonable prices, which, by the way, are listed on the chalkboard 'menu', so there are no eight dollar 'surprises'! The place is doing very well, with good reason!

Blast you, York, for waiting until I moved to open a place like this!  But it's ok, since Holy Hound is now one of my fave spots to catch up with old friends when I visit home.

The beer selection is extensive, diverse, constantly rotating, and, as a result, always full of pleasant surprises.  During the last trip, one of my buddies who doesn't particularly like beer was happy to find a couple brews he enjoyed -- great success.  Service is always friendly and quick; even on weekend nights, I've never found myself waiting beyond a minute or so.

The food selection is tiny, which isn't too surprising since Holy Hound doesn't market itself as a pub or restaurant - the beer is the star here with the food serving as a delish sidekick.  Usually something between a snack and a meal, the grub they do have is always fresh, yummy, often (always?) sourced from the adjacent farmers' market, and pleasantly easy on the wallet.  The beer brat sandwich with sauerkraut and chips I got last time ended up being under $5, I think.  I can dig that.

The atmosphere is really laid back.  Anyone ranging from 20-somethings to older adults can be spotted here, but it seems like everyone comes to simply kick back and enjoy a couple of beers and occasionally some live music.  Cool.

Maybe an odd note, but each time I've been here, the bathroom has been spotless - even on high-traffic, weekend nights. And I'm usually one of those weirdoes who'd rather deal with bladder cramps than use a public bathroom.

Holy Hound is a refreshing addition to downtown York.  Give 'em some love sometime.

I love the focus on and excellent selection of craft beers. The ambiance is pretty excellent and there are legitimately good bands playing there for no cover which is a minor miracle in York county.
The selection of beers rotates frequently and the prices and %abv are clearly stated on the menus which means no guessing how much one beer will be over another. The changing beers are also updated on their facebook page which is cool as if you see something you haven't tried you can give it a go when it's listed.
It's nice to see that a bar in York finally got it right.

I've been there a couple of times. Nice place (everything is new and fresh) and the service is great because (i'm assuming) they just opened. They have a really nice selection of tap beers. Have yet to try the food, but the descriptions sound good.

With that being said, I hope the bar, no matter what people think of it, gets a lot of customers! Downtown York should be trendy! You know, have lots of nice places to dine and drink and shop! This bar should be a step along the way to cleaning up downtown York (the first step was getting that god awful heel stores out of there) the next stop might be to do away with the pawn shops and bodegas. Keep the tourist-attracting local businesses coming! Thanks for setting a good example, Holy Hound. Lead the charge! :-)

Knowing that they focus about their beers on-tap I still wished there was a broader menu to choose from to have a meal to pair with a craft beer. I have also had faster more attentive service in other taprooms. Wishing there were more beers to choose from... perhaps on a local level.

Overall environment is very nice, fresh and clean. Was recently renovated with an antique feel.

This place has a phenomenal beer selection. There are over 30 draft beers that are constantly changing. The atmosphere is very casual and contemporary.  Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the beer selection. Although there is not much on the menu, the food is tasty and priced fairly. All local market food as well!

Great craft beer selection, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Beer is very fresh since they actually move the product. Beer doesn't sit here forever.

The Holy Hound is what York has needed for a long time!  Great selection, good prices, live music, and friendly staff.  The food was decent, the atmosphere is very chill, and I will certainly be coming back.
