I'm from Brooklyn so I'm used to great places like meena house cafe and gulf cafe lounge, so I was in the neighborhood and decided to check it out. Mind you, hookah in Brooklyn will run you 7-17 dollars. Walking in, it was 20 per hookah(!!!?!!) and they didn't even have good quality pipes. They used cheap quick lights for coal and as hard as I inhaled, I barely got a slight vapor cloud. I went with two friends and stayed no more than 20 minutes. My girlfriend mentioned how the Blue Lollipop( blackberry/blueberry) tasted like CARDBOARD. I'm a fair guy, but once I tried it, I couldn't help but feel the same.
On to the positives, this place is absolutely GORGEOUS. ( better be for the price, honestly) The staff is also quite nice, but when you see your "coal guy" scrape the old ash off the bowl without blowing through it ( leaving the ash to accumulate in the remaining shisha) it leaves a lot to be desired. To sum it up, horrible price, nausea-inducing hookah and beautiful atmosphere. Seems like a decent place for people who don't know any better. If you can, skip this one and go somewhere better.
I was really hoping to like this hookah spot since it's so close to me but didn't enjoy it much. Â It's super laid back in here and very easy to just fall asleep. Â The hookah that we tried was not good, I disliked that they serve you soft drinks in styrofoam cups and plastic bottles...It just feels too cheap. I think the booths are too high and you can't really get a clear look and feel for the place. Â
Good things about it: They do have a vast selection of hookahs, affordable, service is pretty nice, laid back atmosphere.
I came here a few weeks ago and have been meaning to write a review for this place but haven't gotten around to doing it until now. Any way, the atmosphere is relatively nice and calm here. Very laid back, just the kind of setting you want to sit back and enjoy a hookah in. The food here is really good as well. Lloyd was very nice when introducing himself and spends all his time in the kitchen preparing all food orders and Gigi is  so cool to talk to. Actually, the entire staff is really friendly. The prices are fair and they have an incredible selection of flavors. They definitely experiment with different flavor combinations and they come out being really good. They also give you hookah's with a clear hose and I've always recommended clear hoses to my friends because you can see soot and dirt building up in the hose over time. They either clean the hoses and pipes really well or they give you new hoses every time. It was definitely an enjoyable experience. Overall, I would recommend this place to over any of the other places in Astoria and if you don't want to venture out to the city for quality hookah or want to avoid the city crowds, this place is the place to be. Good food, good shisha, good people, what more can you ask for?
Review Source:I went here as my post graduation celebration with two of my friends. I found the staff very friendly, I see they serve food but we did not order any, but it looked very yummy. They have so many different flavors, and you can add milk or ice to the shisha for a different effect :).
Monday-Thursday its $20/hookah and 3 people/hookah, very affordable. With the three of us, it lasted almost an hour. On weekends though I believe its only 2 people/hookah.
Overall I love the feel of this place, very cozy and mellow...a great escape from the club scene :) Ill definitely be back!
Went here with a couple of friends and was very disappointed
Why the 2 star review
1 star for being open
2nd star for having some kind of service... and that's where it ends.
This place does not serve alcohol or allow you to bring your own.
Hookah was very lightly packed and lost whatever flavor it had, which was not much from the beginning, very fast. Â So we ordered another one, same issue
Each Hookah is only meant for 2 people and at 20 bucks a pop it's really pricey and of course the reason why it's so limited is because they don't serve alcohol so that's how they make their money.
Serving Presentation at this place is non existent. When we ordered tea we were brought Styrofoam cups with lids instead of being served in serving wear.
When I ordered a soda they brought me a can of soda with a straw. Not even a glass was offered.
While the decor seems nice once you walk in the place is missing pillows that one would usually find in hookah bars.
Music was not lounge music at all and loud to a point where we had to scream to people at the same table
The fries never came.
Department of sanitation gives this place a B (14 to 27 points for sanitary violations) Â So i guess maybe it was a blessing in disguise that the food never came.
There are so many good options in NYC and this is not one of them. Â I would not recommend this place and was very surprised to see the positive reviews which led me to even try this place in the first place
Cozy is the word here, the vibe is very laid back and relaxed to the point where you feel like to fall asleep here, and isn't that what we all desire in a hookah lounge.
My friends frequent this place and at time I accompany them, they even have flavors named after them because they come here so often.
It's worth to check out at least once, it's a hookah lounge with a difference...
Really friendly people, one of the better shisha I've had outside of Iran or my own home, particularly cause they use good tobacco and real coals and not those 3Kings quick lighting coals. The flavor didn't give me a particularly strong buzz, but I'm not always in the mood to get like that with every hookah session.
I had a few other criticisms though. The food was just borderline OK to bad. I think perhaps cause my fries were overcooked and they lost their crisp to it, it happens sometimes. I'm not a complainer, I don't send food back, maybe it's from working in a restaurant in my past. I'm sure they have had stellar fries come out of the kitchen. This was confounded with the fact that they didn't get their shipment of lettuce or something so I was unable to get the salad, kind of a weird situation since I could get lettuce from down the street probably, but it would have been fine if the extra fries had actually been good. The gyro itself was average, like a kronos honestly, maybe that's what it was.
The pricing model doesn't really cater well to groups or individuals. I think the standard pricing is 10-15 for a hookah for 2-3 people in most places I have been, sure the quality here is indeed better, but I'm just one person and 20 bucks is prohibitive of me coming in regularly. Would I rather have one hookah for 45 minutes or have four-five decent drafts over several hours watching a game at a bar?
Decor-wise, there really wasn't much in terms of TV's in this place, my ideal setting would be a TV with a movie or game to watch, a comfortable place to lay back, and a shisha with extra coals just in case. I'm not sure how else to describe the theme, and the use of lighting effects were excessive.
Sorry for the harsh review bros, as I said, really cool management. I just have been to many establishments like this, most of the actually in the Middle East and this country has a long way to go.
Really nice. Excellent service. They have funny names for there flavors. like orgasim, sex, etc, had a blast the place is very clean, they also have a grill in the main enterance, didnt  get the chance to eat but it smell good. The music was really nice, location very quite. Had a blast.
Review Source:Came here twice with a friend. The place is comfortable but the hookahs aren't the best. Not enough flavor and makes your throat feel scratchy. Maybe I got so use to the hookah bars in Astoria which they give better quality. But its good overall. The best part of this place is you can bring your own bottle, but they charge a cork fee of $10 (Not sure if it went up or not).
Review Source:La la la LOVE this place! Â
- If you have an issue, they are willing to work with you. That's what I like best about this place.
-The seating is also not cramped like most hookah lounges, they have sectioned off pieces for each group. Wouldn't recommend it for a one on one though.
-They serve gyros there too!
This is the best hookah place I've ever been. The hookah was really smooth and flavorful (we had the orgazm). We were greeted warmly as we walked in and seated immediately. I love how spacious it is. It's a little pricy ($20/hookah - max 2/hookah) on the night we went but still an awesome I experience. I can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Went here last night and it was pretty cool. Â We tried the Morrocan Spice flavor which was nice. Â Very friendly service and cool atmosphere. Â I liked the interior design and decoration of the place as well. Â The price is a little high ($15 per hookah and 2 people per Hookah), but other than that it is a nice shisha lounge to hang out and chill. Â They also have food, but i did not try any.
Review Source:Best hookah lounge we've been to in New York. Service was great, they checked up on us and made sure the coals were still burning, and the smoke was pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. Just wish they were open later. There supposed to start serving liquor very soon. Loved the lighting effects, creates a comfortable atmosphere.
I would definitely go here again!
Yes, the kitchen is finally open.
Yes, you're gonna love it as much as you do the shisha.
The cajun fries rival Five Guys' fries. If you like thick-cut, skin-on - these are king.
Had the lamb gyro on my first go and I love the crispy perfection to which it was cooked. Generous portions, chewy and warm pita, sauced as you like it.
I'm looking forward to the extended hours so I can get my gyro on for lunch on the weekends.
Had an amazing time here but the only downfall is that they don't serve alcoholic beverages. It's a small little place that could be easily missed but once you step in you see that it's pretty spacious. Very cool staff and the Cajun fries were pretty good too. Not much a variety of food but still good. I'd go here again.
Review Source:For the neighborhood- this is probably the only Hookah Lounge that I know of.
I was there with a party of 4 and we didnt realize that when we paid the price per person we would have two hookahs to smoke from. We were light weights and barely made a dent.
I am asthmatic so it was stupid of me to join along.
We chose grape, which was really tasty and a tropical fruit punch of sorts that was also very nice.
The decor is really cool and the atmosphere is chill... Just know if you have asthma you wont have as good of a time as all the people toking on the pipe.
If it werent for the asthma I would go back.
This was one of my absolute favorite spots when I lived in Queens. I still go back there every other month or so since I moved, but I used to visit at least once or twice a week. The prices are super reasonable and the people who own the place are super nice and helpful. Ask for Gigi! She's the absolute sweetest and will sit down with you to recommend all of her favorite flavors. And the flavors! They have so many creative ones which they blend on the spot for you and they're all so delicious and relaxing.
Review Source:My favorite spot! I honestly wouldn't enjoy going anywhere else. The owners are extremely laid back. The flavors here are amazing, all natural, and they make them all themselves! The prices vary during the week or weekend, but be sure to get there btwn 7-9 Tuesday thru Thursday for Happy Hour. The venue is completely relaxing and "Zen-like". The colors and ambiance is dark, yet beautiful. There are two flat-screens that usually have the latest movie or PPV even on. The serve these amazing herbal teas and other light drinks. For alcohol, it's BYOB, but pretty soon they'll have a vast selection of beer & wine, also food! Good going guys! The also has a do-jo for MMA, which I'll soon attend religiously, but that's another Yelp review. Don't listen to the reviews that are rated 1 star. They're bogus and were written by other hookah lounges!
Review Source:This place is amazing. Â From the second you walk in to the second you walk out you just get a great vibe. Â Everyone is very friendly and the service is great. Â Their home-made shisha is the best shisha i've had. Â The price is amazing, not too expensive but the right price. Â The seating is comfortable and the music is great. Â There's a nice ambiance and it's a great place to go to and relax and smoke a nice hoookah. Â One bowl packing lasted me 2 hours and it didn't even get harsh. Â Great place to go to with a big group and great to go to on a date.
Review Source:Love this place! Â Very laid back, private, and comfortable. The price is right - I think if it were less expensive it might invite a different younger and more rowdy crowd, and I'm so glad that it doesn't! Â I go with my boyfriend a few times a month and one $20 hookah lasts us about an hour and a half...we never need to ask for our coals to be changed, someone comes over every once and a while and checks on us. Flavors are great, BYOB is an amazing perk, owners are so friendly and helpful. Again, love this place.
Review Source:If you like hookah, you will like it. Its $20 per hookah, they allow only only 2 per hookah on friday and saturday nights. The mint flavors were nice, refreshing. The S*x in the woods was tooooo strong, we all coughed after each pull. On the weekdays, they allow 3 per hookah. They allow you to BYOB, I thought they charged $5 per person, but I guss they didn't notice us, my hub drank his beer pretty discreetly, (it's very dark in there) so they didn't chanrge for it. It was a friends birthday, so they gave a free hookah and an extra flavor because it was her bday (and it was only 4 of us), that was nice (so if you feel like mentioning it's your bday and get a free flavor...hey who will ever know )...they had Jenga which was a lot of fun. Felt like we were just chilling in someone's room back in junior high, with the blacklight on...pretty young crowd.
Review Source:I went in here with a buddy who wanted to smoke hooka. Â I dont smoke so I just sat next to him and ordered about 40 dollars in drinks and we were enjoying ourselves. Â It was an ok atmosphere. Â The place was nice. Â The service was not bad but not good, they left us alone and we drank and he smoked. Â then the bill came. Â They tried to charge me $20 dollars for hooka which I did not smoke. Â I talked to the waiter who just yelled at me and told me that I had to pay it. Â He was messing with the wrong guy because I called his bluff. Â What was he going to do call the police on his FRADULENT charge? Â There is no sign posted where every person can see that there will be a $20 dollar sitting fee and that is FRAUD. Â In every state in America you have to post any and all charges and in restaurants, bars, and everyplace that is a service based institution has to tell you that you are being charged for services not rendered. Â The waiter got mad and called over the manager who threatened with the police and asked us to leave. Â We offered to pay for services provided by the hooka lounge and not for the $20 hooka fee but they refused and ended up getting nothing. Â They tried to lie and charge me for something that I did not use. Â I did not pay and went home. Â There was not much they could do since they asked us to leave and that cancelled our contract. Â This place is fun but if you dont do hooka make it known before you get in there that you will not pay for it and if they give you trouble be a jerk and call the police on them since it is ILLEGAL to charge people for a service not provided.
Review Source:Do not recommend this place at all. I agree with all the points that N.S. made. I went with 3 other friends. 1 of them would not smoke hookah at all, yet we were told that we had to get 2 hookahs. I asked them to make an exception, but they said there was nothing they could do. I understand the purpose of this, to avoid having 12 customers walk in and order 1 hookah. But the approach that they are taking isn't right. They ought to just be able to use their own discretion when dealing with these situations, rather than come up with a company policy on it.
The actual hookah itself is subpar. It doesn't pull well at all, and their flavors aren't really that great. Trying to name a flavor something cool and trendy like 'exstacy' or 'ocean mist' seems cheesy. Just give me  apple, i dont care if you call it apple lollipop, apple pie, apple orchid.
Out of the 2 pipes we had, one of them was barely pulling in smoke. I like my hookah smoke exhaled into a thick cloud, not a light fog.
We asked the gentleman to see if he can correct it, but after attempting to, he just said that's the way the pipe is, which doesn't make sense because the other one we were having was doing just fine. Would have been better if he just switched the pipe for us.
I really don't understand businesses like this one. Not recommended at all!
Five stars???!!!! Really???!!!!
Two words......RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Â!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is a f*cken rip off! Â
We came here after having dinner and wanted a place to relax. Â It seemed like a nice and relaxing place but.....the staff was quite rude. Â They charge by how many ppl in your group. Â Even if you have others that will not smoke Hookah.
Basically, they charge $20 for 45 minutes, one hookah for two ppl. Â If you have 10 ppl, they tell you that you'll need 5 hookahs. Â You can basically do the math..... 5 hookahs x $20 = $100!!! Â This of course, doesn't include drinks. Â This also means that if one or two ppl in your group doesn't want to smoke hookah, they still have to pay for it. Â Even after we told them that they don't like hookah but would order drinks. The staff didn't care. Â They said that the non-hookah smokers will still have to pay. Â What a RIP OFF!!!!
I've been to many hookah places in the city and in queens (Astoria on Steinway street). Â I've never, ever heard of stuck a ridiculous price for hookahs!
Overall.....NO F*CKEN WAY Â (they just lost out on 11 customers)
Price....Overprice for Hookah
Decor....small, quaint but its a bit cheesy with the laser light show on the ceiling
Vibe..supposed to be relaxing but was not at all from my experience
Service: RUDE.
ok so...
the hookah flavors are pretty good.
the teas are good but not like insanely awesome. theyre just good.
i like the ambiance, its different, and i really like the music.
i dont like the 20$ per hookah thing. yea i know 2 or 3 people can share it..but what if we want different flavors, why can't we each get our own hookah? if we each got our own hookah it would be like 60$ for three people which is insane. Why not just make the hookah like 10$ Â per person where we can each get our oun and try different flavors??
And why the charge to bring in our own food? I mean, it's not like they serve food anyways to make us pay 5$ for food we bring in. I came in with an icecream sundae that i got from nearby  and the lady joked that she wasn't gonna charge me the 5$ cover this time. Ummm ok??
So its an okay place. It's nothing extremely special.
This is the only hookah place around in this location I still rather head over to steinway st. for my hookah..
Reallly nice though how the man and woman who are always up front really care about their hookah and try to talk and joke with the customers.
My close friend and I went to this place last night to talk in a relaxed atmosphere. After reading the reviews, we were totally hooked on going and couldn't wait to try it out. It was also our first time at a hookah lounge.
When we got there, we were greeted by Gigi. She showed us almost every flavor that they have - we ended up with the Chocolate Covered Strawberry one. We were taken to a gorgeous lounge area with tons of pillows and cushioned seats. Our hookah was set up for us in no time and within a few minutes Gigi came by offering us free cookies and books (astrology, palm reading, love). Halfway through our session, her husband Lloyd came to change our charcoal. Our hookah lasted for well over an hour.
The ambiance of the place is great! Gigi and Lloyd were very friendly. We had the most delicious teas: Masala & White Peach. They are getting their liquor license soon, but for now there's a $5 charge per person to BYOB and your own food if you want.
Like another reviewer said, this place really is a hidden gem. They only opened 10 months ago, but you can already tell this place is here to stay.
This is a great place to come smoke hookah. it's good for groups wanting to just chat up for fun times, or for a couple looking for an intimate setting. The owner is very passionate about his hookah flavors, he takes pride in mixing them all by hand at home with french tobacco leaves, molasses, and other flavor enhancing ingredients. The flavors are really unique and amazing and have funny names like xxx. The place is divided into small intimate cubicles. On the menu there is also a huge variety of tea's which are surprisingly very good. Excellent staff and good hookah and drinks makes this a great place to bring someone special to, or just to kick back and relax with some friends. I think they are closed Tuesday nights.
Review Source:This is not the hookah lounge you visited in Egypt or even Astoria. No old men sitting around talking and smoking. This is a lounge-y type place with a very cool, relaxed atmosphere, very chill, and with a good selection of blends to choose from that taste and smell good. Great place to gather with your friends, or even bring a date. Just writing about it makes me wanna go there and smoke.
Review Source:Aside from the multi-syllable name that somehow reminds me of Oompa Loompas, Hookahloopa is a total hidden gem. Not anymore. Thank you, Yelp. Hate you. Love you.
Uh, anyway...Love this place. I had the misfortune of having my first hookah experience elsewhere, and there is no comparison.
When we first walked in, we were greeted by Gigi, who is completely awesome and funny as hell. There are a ton of different shisha flavors - Most with provocative, yet funny names (Triple X or Sex in the Woods, anyone?). She actually sized up everyone in our group and attempted to recommend a particular flavor that suited each of our personalities (Hey, Joe, you look like you can use some "All Night Long"). She even based her recommendations as to which shisha flavors complemented each other best - You don't see that level of service every day.
After spending way too long arguing and deliberating over what flavors to get (who chooses Asian Pear over Triple X, honestly? Grrrr.), Gigi took us to the main room and showed us our booth. I LOVE the vibe here. Chilled, dreamy, peaceful and trippy come to mind. Very trippy. Dark, purplish lighting, middle eastern-ish decor on the walls, glowing dreamy stars on the walls and ceilings...It's not as cheesy as it sounds, believe me - Somehow it just works. Most of the booths are these huge rounded bench-style things with pillows - Super comfy and relaxing. Wasn't uncommon to see people curled up fast asleep in their booths after a long hookah session.
The hookah is strong (varies depending on the particular flavor) and flavorful. I don't remember the exact types we ordered (one involved something naughty in the woods, I think), but they were superbly flavored - They tasted fresh, not artificial. They don't serve alcohol as of yet - They should be getting their liquor license within the next few months, but they do have a BYOB policy in the meantime. Thoughtful. They serve some soft drinks and teas - I didn't try any, but my friend's eyes rolled back in his head (in a good way) when he sampled his tea.
Gigi came by every now again to check on us and just shoot the breeze. We were there on a Thursday night - People were milling about, but weekends are supposed to get really crazy. All in all, love this place. Relatively unknown, supercool relaxing vibe, awesome service - Great place to come smoke some hookah and chill deep into the night.
Totally rad, dude.
This is what happens when you move out of NY after living there for most of your life: Â you come back and a hookah place is now in the neighborhood you grew up in. Â Weird, but oh so pleasant. Â
Llyod (the guy who is usually in the front of the store) is Filipino (I'm Filipino) and can guide you on all hookah charcoal (smell them, look at them, they are his own blends). Â Once you pick something, you walk through a veiled doorway to a larger room with couch-pods (where you can sit, lay down, sleep, lounge, read, etc. while smoking hookah).
Also, this place is BYOB and bring your own food. Â They do have a selection of teas (to get hot or cold)---I got the white peach one...deeelish!
So glad I found this place, and the fact that it's two blocks away from the movie theater my friend and I used to go to to cut school back in our junior high school days, cracks me up!
A friend of mine recently broke up with his girlfriend, so I was looking for a hookah bar.
I heard this place opened about two months ago and close to my friends' homes, so we decided to hang out here.
From outside, the bar looked very small, but inside was larger than I thought.
Cozy and nice.
This was my first time to smoke hookah, and I enjoyed. and so do my friends!!
Nice and funny owners! Be friends with them! :D
20 bucks for 3 people, you can bring your own beer, but pay some bucks for that.
So after reading about this place in a local magazine, I decided I had to try it. Upon entering we were greeted by a very pleasant woman who immediately engaged us in conversation. She explained to us the very different concept that she and her husband had come up with for this hookah lounge. They have their own type of shisha that they have specially made and they also make their own flavors. Their flavors have creative names like "Touch me there" or "Triple X". She explained to us that the shisha was a bit more expensive, but of superb quality. And she was right.
We got two hookahs and the flavor was very different and smooth. My throat didn't feel all scratchy after smoking it, nor did my throat feel like crap the following morning. It is a bit more expensive and their rules only allow for a maximum of 3 people to a hookah, but it is worth it!
The ambiance is also very nice. The lounge is very nicely decorated with these very pretty lit stars that hang from the ceiling and perfect lighting. Whether you're going there for a date or to hang out with friends, I would definitely recommend this place.
Also as an added bonus, they sell neat jewelry, hookahs, and shisha in the front. The jewelry is especially fun to look at :)
