I'm assuming it just opened, as everyone working there was pretty much clueless.  Our waitress seemed to be trying, but she knew nothing about the menu items or ingredients, and was not particularly helpful.  "What's in the House broth"?  "Oh, I don't know, it's our house made broth."  Then she argued (somewhat politely) that we couldn't have TWO hot pots with six people.  We didn't want everything shoved into one pot; and instead of making it easy for us, it was somewhat of a minor battle.  Ultimately, we prevailed and they brought us two hot pots.  They also forgot to bring us chopsticks.  The service got more polite as the dinner went on, and we established a repoire with our server.  Still, it's a family run business, and the service is less than professional.

The most important part, of course, is the food.  The food is a solid 4 stars if you like hot pot (shabu shabu).  We cooked shrimp, meat, veggies and noodles in broth, of which you have 3 choices.  We also ordered a side of tofu.  The meat was tasty and high quality, and they gave us a huge portion of mushrooms, bok choy, napa cabbage, and noodles.  A little more variety of veggies would have been a plus, but the quality of the meats and veggies was so good I refuse to complain about what wasn't there.  Service was 2 stars, food was 4 stars.  That makes this a 3 star place to dine.

We've gone here twice, both times with Groupons, for the hot pot. If you've never tried this type of meal, do. It's fun, delicious and healthy. Basically you cook your food "fondue style" in boiling pots of flavored broth. You choose from a list of different meats, seafood, veggies and rice or noodles.

If this sounds like something that would appeal to you, then definitely give it a try. We loved it.

The restaurant itself is kind of basic in terms of decor. Service, both times, was very good and friendly. Food came quickly.

Of course, there are lots of other options on the menu besides hot pot. We haven't tried them. But as a native New Orleanian, I'm interested in going back for crawfish.

Oh, and we did have beignets for dessert. While not quite the "real deal" (as in the ones at Cafe du Monde in my hometown), they were delicious.

We will be back at the Hot Pot - even without a Groupon. It's worth paying full price!
