We hosted a bridal shower in the party room behind the bar.  The staff was very helpful before the event.  They let us decorate the room.  The food was good.  We chose 5 items from the menu ahead  of time and they printed up menus for our party.  The service was excellent!  The price was reasonable.  And the guys hung out in the bar and had lunch but were available to help us with the heavy lifting.  I would definately host another party there!
Review Source:We have visited somewhat frequently since this location opened and have been quite happy with our selections. As many have mentioned, the martini flights are just plain fun (especially on girls night out). The potato soup is excellent and we are huge fans of the "small plate" menu. Just finished the grilled scallops and they were quite tasty and just the right amount. Â Hubby is not quite the fan I am. Â He ordered ribs, which were served cold and had to be sent back to be heated and he thought the potato soup a little too thick for his taste.
Review Source:Nice atmosphere, good tasting food that offers plenty of options. Â Excellent salads, also makes this place a winner. Â Only thing I don't like is there dinners come with a vegetable of the day, which could be something disgusting that you may not like. Â But the service is excellent and I like the other options of menu items they offer. Â I would recommend this place for a date or even a birthday celebration.
Review Source:For a chain restaurant, this place is surprisingly ok. I've been here twice now, when visiting friends who live in Indiana. I am stunned that IN still allows smoking in bars and restaurants but to their credit, Houlihan's does have a pretty generous non-smoking section. They have a very good variety of liquor at the bar and the menu is big enough for everyone to find something they like. When my friend and I went last weekend, I really enjoyed the cucumber martini and the small portions menu. Plus, I notice that there is now a Houlihan's in Orland Park, IL. The service was friendly and cool and overall, it is a very decent place to go. Next time, I'll try the flatbread!
Review Source:I usually don't do chain restaurants(yes i am a food snob....lol), but on the word of my persistent friend I decided to try it out. For the type of place it is, not too shabby. They have an extensive drink list as well as small plate and entree offerings, which is a plus for me because I like to munch a little while I drink.
The tap beer options were also a welcome surprise. In addition to your normal run of the mill tap offerings, they offered some local brands that I frequent like Three Floyds....yum. I'd definitely go back, which is saying alot for me because I LOATH chain restaurants....lol.
If you have a group of girlfriends who want to go out for tasty fruity alcoholic libations in a modern atmosphere, Houlihan's is the spot. If you want a consistently tasty meal, not so much. The food can be good. When the food is good, you're tricked into coming back. When the food is bad, you remember that you were there for the drinks in the first place.
Review Source:Good atmosphere with delicious food. Sure it's a chain, but I can't help but love their food, deserts, and tasty drinks to choose from. They have a weekly drink special on mini martini flights--$5 for three! Sign up for their email "club" and sure you might get some annoying emails, but there is one that pays off one day a year. Can you say free meal on your birthday?!
Review Source:My family and I came here after a movie. Â We ate fish tacos, tortilla soup, flat bread with arugula and melted cheese, and drank coffee. Â The place was packed at 10pm and I spotted cute little martini glasses at all the tables around us which was tempting.
The manager came to our table a couple times to see how we were doing which only made us think that the waiter was new. Â He was very friendly and attentative. Â The food had a lot of flavor from the cilantro on the fish tacos and diced tomatoes with just the right amount of onion.
The tortilla soup is mildly spicey and with ingredients and chunky with chicken and torilla chips. Â Excellent food and service.
I heart Houlihans, mainly because of their mini flights, i.e. martini flights, & dessert flights! Their appetizers are yummy too! Â It's a great place to go with your friends, and family. Not so much a romantic spot, but a fun place to watch sports, or chit-chat while indulging in libations ;-)
Review Source:I have never been to a place that has good food from all walks of life. Sure, I have seen the good, decent, bad, and the ugly, but Houlihan's definitely beats them all out. They have great service, excellent food, and brilliant desserts.
Each time I've been here, I've had the Chicken Parmesan over fettuccine Alfredo and have been more than impressed on both occasions. The dish comes on a triangle shaped plate that is huge, and the mix of Alfredo and Marinara sauces is tasty. The chicken tastes almost like a Tyson chicken patty, but is still great all the same. Most dinners come with a soup or salad, and I highly recommend the tortilla soup; it has a slightly spicy tang to it, and is a good alternative to a salad.
My grandma accompanied me on both trips to Houlihan's, and each time she ordered the pot roast. Here's what you have to remember: My grandmother is a small woman, no larger than five foot eight. This pot roast, which also comes on a triangle shaped plate, comes in a portion size that is large enough to take home a full meal for the next couple days. You don't even have to use a knife to cut the meat; it just falls off as a fork meets it as it cooked so perfectly.
Dessert is even better. They have brownie bites on a stick and you can get your own toppings on it, which makes it even better. The Italian donut holes come complete with three martini glasses of fondue, and very much outweigh Dunkin' Donuts because they are served hot with mouth watering cinnamon.
My advice--go to Houlihan's with a group, because you'll all want to pick off each other's plates and try the variety. It's a great place with great food that's modern in ambiance and fun for a get together with friends.
I've been to this place numerous times. I usually sit in the bar area for appetizers and drinks. Their drink and appetizer selection is great! I'm pretty sure there's something for everyone, and the appetizers are fairly priced. And, the bartenders are friendly. I always get great service here.
Just recently I dined in the restaurant area for the first time, and decided to order an entree. This is the only reason, I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5. The entree wasn't that great. In fact, I enjoyed my drinks and the appetizer I ordered more than the entree.
I really do recommend this place, though. It's beautiful. The decor is great. But, I'd stick to the drinks and apps.
Over-priced and the service is very spotty. Â I do love the decor and the bar is a nice place to catch up with friends after a long day. Â I just wish that they would enhance the quality of the food to match the prices they charge. Â I like the fact that the Region has a place like this, though.
Review Source:I'll go back again. Â It's a great alternative to the run-of-the-mill let's-go-out-to-eat restaurants. Â I've had great service each and every time, and the food is properly cooked.
They change their menu on a regular basis, so if you happen to have had a fantastic meal and you're looking to duplicate it, don't be surprised if it's not offered the next time you go back. Â But to me, that's okay, because it saves you from running to your stand-by's all the time.
I really like their dessert offerings. Â I have yet to be disappointed. Â In fact, they now offer their S'mores as a full stand-alone dessert! Â Wow! Â I've also enjoyed the Southern Pecan Pie and the Italian-style donuts with two sauces (Bailey's and Kahlua). Â
They do have a full bar for those interested. Â They offer several different wines and several beers on tap. Â
The atmosphere is cozy enough, like the other reviewers have stated. Â The noise level is ambient and you don't have to shout to be heard. Â I'd recommend it as a place for a date, or an evening out with your wife. Â It's okay to bring your children, it is "kid friendly" as far as that goes, but it's not over-ridden with children, if that helps.
It's especially nice to go there right before the show, with the theaters being right around the corner. Â Enjoy a great meal and then head over to see the latest flick!
My boyfriend and I have been here twice, once for our 4 year anniversary and again just recently. Â They have quite a few different options of food and a lot of different choices for drinks. Â I am officially in love with their Long Island Iced Teas and for a 1 liter pitcher, it is $7.50 and it is delicious! Â I will definitely be back here, especially for the Long Island Iced Tea. Â :)
Review Source:City girl crosses the border to go eat at Houlihans.
Friday night nowhere to eat so we ended up at Houlihans. I ordered the Angus burger well done w/2 sides(chips and salsa and french fries) which is what they offer you. To drink I ordered the 1800 margarita and it was heavily. The BF ordered the chicken Parmesan on focaccia w/his 2 sides(fries and orzo). To drink he ordered a beer.
For dessert we ordered a chocolate cappuccino cake......the dessert was not good at all. We we're both disappointed but hey what can you ask for $2.49 for dessert.
I am not a fan of chain restaurants but on the 4th of July our choices for a light meal were limited and we ended up at Houlihan's.
I've had appetizers and drinks there before and it was okay. This time I stopped to notice the restaurant and was impressed with the decor - warm woods and earth tones. We ate in a comfortable (i.e. not too small) booth in the bar.
Houlihan's offers most of their appetizers for $6 during Happy Hour. I have no idea what time HH is because they always seem to have the little sign on the table or bar. The portions are large - enough for a meal. We especially liked the chicken quesellidas, the veggie flat bread and the goat cheese bruschetta.
There are lots of cutsie martinis and foo-foo drinks but the $3.99 wines are just fine. The menus are really heavy spiral metal affairs but are well organized. The noise level is acceptable - you can talk over it.
Service is friendly and efficient. This is a great choice for an inexpensive light meal.
