Friendly service. Great food, although I would prefer fresh fries over frozen. But I would definitely stop back when I'm in that neck of the woods.

If you live in Evanston or Skokie you probably already know about this place, they are great! Ordered from them a few nights ago and I was blown away! Not only did my food arrive quickly (the delivery guy was very polite too) it was awesome! I had the gyro platter, it was actually too much to finish at one time, and the price was just right. I am looking forward to trying other things off their menu very soon. Hub's now has a new loyal customer, also long as the fries are excellent, and they were.

I love a fast food place with a good salad. Try the chicken salad made with fresh salad greens and a generous, juicy chicken breast. Love their 1000 Island dressing and enjoy the option of pita or french bread. They were testing a new menu item when we were there -- homemade potato chips -- that were delicious! Hubs is always a good choice in my book!

just no taste at all. Just very blah food. WE have been there 4 times and yesterday we went with 6 people, ordered a grilled cheese and chicken sandwiches and fries and nothing had any taste at all. So why would you go there?

My friend and I were in the area getting our shopping done and we were starving for some bbq. Found this place on yelp and decided to take a look. The bbq was awesome, the service was great.

As you walk in you come face to face with this huge menu. It is over whelming but with the help of the hostess and a few recommendations we picked a bbq sampler and some Grecian fries. The food was so delicious we ordered a plate to go. Would definitely recommend this place.

The American Burger at Hub's is delicious. Cooked to order and always full of flavor. Whenever I make it home I like to hit up Hub's and get a quick meal.

We ordered hot dogs and fries for a quick lunch. Used to frequent here about 20 years go, but not for hot dogs! The 2 stars is for the dogs. The bun was way too big for the Vienna All Beef, even with everything. Plus the bun was very dry and the ends were hard, so they were not steamed. The tomatoes were the ends and too thick. However, the fries were decent, tho just the typical thick frozen variety. Probably only visit this trip!

First time giving 5 stars to a fast food place, but this place was so darn good I went back twice in one day.

Hubby was away, wife will play (I mean eat, I mean really eat). I had buffalo wings with fries for lunch and catfish for dinner. So darn good. They even gave me some rice pudding because I was stalking their restaurant all day. So good. I mean really good. This place is great and I am so glad they are in the neighborhood.

Thanks Hub's

It's hard not to compare Hub's to Dengeo's, but I must:

1) prices at Hub's are about the same as Dengeo's
2) portions at Hub's are 1/3 smaller than Dengeo's (for example, if you order the chicken breast plate, at Hub's you get one piece of chicken breast, sliced in half (2 pieces). At Dengeo's, you get two full pieces of chicken breast, not sliced in half.
3) refills are done at the cashier counter at Hub's; Dengeo's is self serve
4) no lemons to add into soft drinks at Hub's; Dengeo's is self serve
5) parking lot is 1/5 the size at Hub's than at Dengeo's

All things considered, I prefer Dengeo's.

You like a da juice?
Yes but not when they charge u 49 cents for extra juice. Just ok. After 5 years was hoping for the gyros of old. Shake was good. Salad very large. Fries and gyros disappointing.

They have not changed much in the last 20 years. In fact, the only thing I think they have changed is they tore down a wall separating the dining area into two. Never understood why the had that. And they upgraded the lighting, added a few flat screen TV's & that is really it. Same sign, same specials, same "DO NOT BACK INTO FENCE" sign in parking lot. And that is comforting,
I am not alone in this sentiment. When I go here to pick up dinner, I always see older men, alone, eating a plate of ribs, potatoes & other comfort foods. In my mind, they have been coming here for years like me, their kids grew up and moved out, their wives left them for more attractive day laborers and now they get to eat at hubs, watching the Blackhawks on the hidden secret TV above the door to the bathroom. This may sound sad to you, but it is heaven to me.

I usually pick up:

Whole Greek Chicken: Really wonderful, every time I get this it is moist and succulent. The skin is always nicely cooked and it comes with a little lemon and olive oil to put on after. Love. Comes with potatoes, cole slaw & garlic bread.

Greek beans: They give you a pound, but I recommend getting 2 lbs cuz this stuff is great. Interestingly not on their menu.

Spinach Pie: This is prob my fav item. I love this thing. Pastry dough, gooey cheese, butter & spinach. Let's call it a meal, throw in some veggies, olives and lemon. Love.

Greek Salad: Feta, Anchovies & Olives are wonderful.

There are many other things to get here, and I have probably gotten them all, but when I am visiting my family in the burbs I like to swing through here and treat them for dinner, for under $30 you can feed 4 people. Nice.

I have been coming to Hubs for over 10 years and every time I go it never disappoints me. I love their soup and greek salad for an appetizer. For the main entree I have rotated between ribs (excellent), gyros (double excellent), and chicken-ka-bob (super yummy). The restaurant is always nice and clean. Also the food always comes out fast and fresh and doesn't taste like "fast-food". Staff is so nice and friendly. Can't wait to continue eating here for many years to come.

The gyros here are the best anywhere. Good meat and lots of it in your pita. A lot of times we order an extra pita and make the one gyro a meal for two. The barbecue sauce is also amazing.

My family and I love this place. Tasty food served up in a clean friendly environment. Hand down the best Vegie Burger outside Chicago. Perfect for kids and families as there is ample seating for large parties. This is solid American food with Greek fusion, try the gyros they're amazing. Not the right place if your looking for the epic crafted Burger, but then again there's no attitude either. Time after time we've had reliable great tasting food with a smile.

The food is good but not worth dealing with the crappy service. I work with people on a daily basis. They do not know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's unfortunate because it's down the street from work and like I said the food is good (but not GREAT). I prefer to take my business elsewhere. The thing is that I've been working in the area for 4 years and I don't recall the service being this bad. Did they undergo a management change in the past year? If they did they need to do it again...

Sunday we went to get lunch at Hub's. I got my favorite chicken caesar salad. After few bites I saw a dead fly on my lettuce. Lunch was over!!!
This was my last time at Hub's. I won't recommend them to anyone.

One of the best Gyros in town for lunch. Picked up two Gyros today, one for myself and one for a friend.

The Gyros is always solid here. Perfectly cooked. Not my first time, and never my last time.

This is by far the best gyros in the city of Chicago. They do everything right in terms of a gyro plate. To me, I need my gyro just right from thick, juicy cuts of lamb, thinly sliced fresh onions with some parsley, the tzatiki sauce needs to be of thick and cool consistency, and of course the pita bread must be warm and fluffy. Also, any gyro plate that comes other than thickly cut French fries is a huge blunder. Hubs does it right. As a born and raised Chicagoan, there are two restaurants that I've been born into my family. Lou Malnatis and Hub's. No doubt about it. Tried gyros all the way up north to Greek town and nothing beats it.

their food is OK. burgers are good, but their chicken is not good at all. Gyros is like any other typical place since 90% of them just get it from a company. The one thing that makes this place bad is their customer service. I asked for an extra gyros sauce when I went up to get our food. The lady told me it was 50 cents but I told her I only had my card. She told me that there is a $10 minimum for cards and basically said no to my request for an extra sauce. This is all after I spent over $20 for me and my cousin to eat.

I probably didn't get the correct food here, but after my 2nd time at Hub's I don't know that I would ever make it a point to go back. I know the place is known for it's gyros, and I haven't had them, but the burgers are not what you come here for... especially if you like cheddar cheese on them.

All I ordered this past time was a cheese burger. Normally I'm an american cheese type of guy, but for some reason I had a taste for some good cheddar cheese, Merkt's was on my mind. Well I think I set the bar in my mind way too high. After ordering the burger I hit up Yelp while waiting and immediately regretted my decision to order cheddar cheese after reading that it was just going to be melted nacho cheese... That review was from a while ago so I was optimistic that the cheese had changed since then, but I was wrong. I didn't realize when ordering and the guy taking my order said "the cheddar is melted is that ok?" that meant that it has been sitting in a warmer all day and will be scooped out with a big spoon and dripped over your burger... Had I known that I would have gone to trusty american.

So do yourself a favor and if you really need to get a burger here, even though, cheese aside, it wasn't very good, just don't get cheddar cheese. I mean if you want a nacho burger, then by all means go for it, but just know what you're getting yourself into... it's not as good as one would assume from hearing the words "nacho burger". Also, for some reason it seemed to take quite a long time to get food for 2 people when the restaurant was almost empty...

My friend from California wouldn't stop raving about Hub's so when he was in town, he made me drive 17 miles away from Greektown and out of the city to this place.

The gyro was very good and the portions were jaw-dropping. The meat was nicely seasoned and the pita was toasty and tasty. The leftover meat lasted me for another 2 meals.

I don't think I'd go out of my way for Hub's, especially with Greektown right around the corner from me. But if I was in the area and in the mood for something good and quick, I'd definitely swing by.

Three words: Greek Village Salad

Hub's on Dempster is near my office and we order fairly regularly. It makes my day when I'm told "It's Hub's for lunch today". I order the Greek Village Salad every time. LOVE it, LOVE it, LOVE it!

Just so it's clear though, this is not fine dining. It's a step above fast food and good for a quick lunch bite.

Probably my favorite place for gyros. Get the gyros dinner plate and you shall receive a heaping plate of delicious meat. They also have awesome bbq chicken, char-grilled hamburgers, and much more. Haven't been there in a while since I moved, but still my favorite place for gyros. I miss you Hub's.

You like a de Juice?? (FYI http://likejuice.ytmnd.c… )

Other than old SNL skits, this place has more meaning to me. It reminds me of my Bar Mitzvah. Nope, I did not get my Bar Mitzvah party here.... my temple was just east of here. So that meant whenever I had Sunday classes with Bar Mitzvah prep I had my parents bring food from there for me. Nothing was Kosher, but it was all so damn tasty.

OK, so I used to live literally 5 mins away and naturally, I've been frequenting this place for years.

For a burger / gyro / chicken place, this place is my favorite in the area. It's no secret I love ribs. If I'm getting the grilled kind without the smoke, it's Hubs. It's the fall off the bone kind that I love. They're meaty and very tasty.

Short story... as a teenager, I was on a double date and grabbed a quick bite at Hubs. I inhaled a full slab while they all were proper and ate salad. LOL. BBQ sauce all in my face.. HAHA... Hey.. I didn't care at the time cus I was young and dumb..

ok SORRY bout that..

I'm not a gyro expert.. every place pretty much is the same to me so it's all good to me.

Outside of the ribs, there are other places that are comparable being Dengeos and Grecian Kitchen. Grecian is also one of my favs and has many good qualities too.

*********update*********

I forgot to add. Sad to say, Hubs had to lose a star from me. Dined here with my wife. Ordered ribs and sat in an area toward the left side of the cash counter. Wife saw the a staff member in the kitchen drop several rack of ribs and caught them looking around.. dust them off and "appear" to maybe use them???

I severely doubt he tossed all those ribs... booo!

That broke my heart since I've loved this place for years...

Fast food restaurants don't usually ask how you want your meat on a hamburger. Hubs does. They also use noticably higher quality meat and generous portion sizes. Fresh pickles, etc. You're paying for a higher quality eat at this place.

They also have a really hot cashier or something when I went the day before.

All in all, it seems like a very worthwhile place to go to for an american burger (though more expensive than bk or mcdonalds of course).

Even though I frequent the Lincoln Avenue location more, I like the Dempster Street location better.

Try the 1/2 pound American Burger with cheese, the gyros plate and even their shish-kabob in a pita.

Very good food that will never disappoint.

Hubs has been in business at this location for many years. The restaurant was recently remodeled and is of typical Greek fast food style and quality.

The dining room is kept clean and neat. Parking is adequate. Ingress and egress can be challenging while making a left turn.

As for the food, there are a lot better choices in the immediate area. Most items are over cooked and dry. An American burger on dark rye bread could be a nice choice, but is always cooked until burnt and dry. This menu item comes with steak fries and cole slaw. For a great burger, try Poochie's across the street.

Recently I tried the Gyros plate. For a restaurant with "gyros" in its name it should have been a lot better. The meat was dried-out and rather unpleasant. The onions were very strong and the tomatos hard and tasteless. The Gyros plate comes with fries (frozen, not fresh cut), one pita bread and a small container of cucumber sauce for about $10.

The staff never smiles. They don't go out of their way to be unfriendly, but they don't make you feel welcome either.

Bottom line

The restaurant looks nice, but the food is mediocre and the staff is unwelcoming.

I've been coming here since I was a wee lad (= at least 30 years) and often meet my parents here for a meal (they drive 30 miles, I drive 5; a reasonable compromise).
My regular rotation: the 1/4 lb burger and the ribs. The burger is just a good char burger with onion and pickle but really hits the spot for lunch (be sure to get fries and perhaps the garlic bread). The ribs are super tasty and fall off the bone. The parents often get the BBQ chicken, and is awesome. Also, be sure to ask for a few extra containers of their BBQ sauce (so good that you can buy bottles of it) so you can slather to your heart's content.
Anyone who has been coming here for as long as I have will enjoy the photos on display taken over the last few decades. They've recently expanded once again so hopefully Hubs will be around for another 30 years.

No one seems to have mentioned the chocolate milkshake. AWESOME.

Last time I was at Hub's my gyros disappeared so fast off my plate, that I beat my notoriously fast eating girlfriend. I wolfed that mother down in no time at all.

If I had a car I'd frequent Hub's. I'd probably also get fat as a consequence. Next time i'm in the 'hood, I plan on hitting up Hub's again for gyros and a chocolate milkshake. Divine.

I was in Skokie. I needed, not wanted mind you, needed Polish Sausages. So I went to Hub's. Success!

While it's possible to find a Vienna Beef hot dog in other parts of the world, it's a lot harder to find a good Polish. Thus, I'm often hungry for them.

My dad used to take me here when I was a kid, on the way to softball. It's maintained as a good go-to place that's fairly convenient. While I don't plan on heading here whenever I'm n Chicago, it did the trick.

For what this place is and tried to do, it does a flippin awesome job. It's one of those greek-american homemade fastfood type places, comparable to like dengeos, which is just a few blocks away. Hub's is much, much better than dengeos (and cleaner, and Hub's staff is nicer), and I'd even say that next time I'm running to pita inn for a quick meal, I would be just as likely to hit Hub's again.

I got the half roasted chicken greek style with greek potatoes, coleslaw, and a couple pickle slices. Hands down the best meal of that variety I've had in Chicago/land.

Their tables are really nice, too.

New to the area, the husband and I are finding all sorts of wonderful spots, and Hub's gets added to the list. After a long Saturday of errand-running, dog picking-up-ing, and rug-laying, we were looking for a quick, somewhat healthy dinner to take home. Hub's was it!

After picking up beer from Binny's (Skokie location has excellent beer selection) we drove past Hub's and circled back to check it out. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night at 9:00, mostly with families and what looked like long standing regulars. That always makes me feel better about a new place. I ordered the gyro plate which was HUGE and so so good. Not greasy, nor did it taste 2-day old. My husband had the shish kabob which was equally good. The prices couldn't be beat, either.

Hub's is a lovely family owned and run place that we'll definitely visit again and again and again.

I am a sucker for Gyros! And this place has the best I have ever had. I love them so much that I don't even bother looking at the menu anymore. I go in get my gyro plate. Munch on it and leave. It is fast food so there so there is not much to say but if you are in the area and crave a gyro stop in and enjoy.

Remember to thank the chef when you leave!

I've been coming to Hub's for about 15 years (more than half of my life). Their burgers are yummy, their gyro platter come with fries, and their portions are very generous.
I almost order their Greek Salad just for the feta. They put blocks and blocks of feta in the salad, and I just can't get enough of it.
Their service is fast, and you can always call in your order for pick-up.
The prices are reasonable and and selection is vast.

They have outdoor seating and plenty of parking.

I tried their Mousaka and it wasn't very good. I don't know if I just had a bad batch or if they fix it a few times a week and just reheat it. I was told by a Greek friend that mousaka is very time-consuming to make and some restaurants just make a whole bunch a few times a week and reheat it.

Great place to stop for a quick bite to eat.

Always clean and very friendly.

I find the charbroiled burgers to be very heavy on the char taste, but they are large. Good selection in their menu. Fries are nothing to brag about.

Plenty of parking.
