Villa Pizza is located in the Lincolnwood Mall and only happened upon the place as I needed some lunch before test driving a car at Grossinger (right next door). Â The layout/look of the place is identical to Sbarro...even the pasta dishes, salads, garlic bread and calzones that are sat in the window look EXACTLY like Sbarro. Â Oddly enough (and thankfully), the pizza didn't look or taste like Sbarro; it definitely looked better and the taste was certainly a step above.
This is a pizza that borders on four stars but i'm pushing 40 pizza reviews and as that number increases, ima little more strict on what constitutes a 4 or 5 star...basically, if I won't happen to go out of my way to get the pizza after trying it the first time, then I cannot deliver more than an A-ok.
If I was in the area, i'd definitely get this pizza again, unfortunately I would have to go out of my way to get it and don't see myself doing that.
This is NOT Chicago style. This is NOT a butter crust.
If the last 2 sentences still have you on board, then you are going to love this pizza. You will have to overcome the idea of driving to a suburban mall to get it, because it is totally worth it.
Fluffy, chewy crust. The only grease comes from the bubbly cheese. Tasty sauce you can scrub your "bones" in.
