Went to check out Ike's with a restaurant com gift certificate that we had gotten free. Â Over all an okay experience, just not noteworthy in anyway. Â Waitress was friendly, but she admitted she was new at Ike's and it showed. Â Food came pretty slowly, but not obnoxiously slow. Â Food was unremarkable. Â
Ordered Prime Rib which was a "special", it was cool, not juicy, and I think it was just warmed up. Â The mashed potatoes could have used some more mashing, and no butter or gravy came with. Â
When the bill came it was a shocker. Â The "special" I ordered was nearly $4 more than quoted but corrected, the meal my wife ordered was $3 more than the menu showed, and the milk's we though were included in the kids meal (menu says small drinks included) were not.
Will we be back? Â Maybe. Â Certainly without a gift certificate of some type not, with one maybe. Â It would only be if we were looking for something different and were looking for a casual relaxed local place. Would I recommend Ike's to a friend? Â I wouldn't suggest someone go, but not tell them not to.
I wish I liked this place more than I did. Â The waitstaff was very nice and friendly, though they made some mistakes on our order. Â No big deal and quickly fixed. Â The food tasted fine but I'm not sure how they prepare the dishes because some of the food on all of our plates was warm, some cold. Â The hash browns were pretty consistently cold for people.
While there was nothing glaring that made us run from the place, I think most of us wouldn't go back.
So, I have been there twice now, once in the restaurant and most recently in the bar. The food is good I had a Reuben once and then a Burger. The fries were nice, they almost even seemed twice fried like at les halles. the burger? Well, everything was good except for the blue cheese cop out.  You see I am tired of trying to order a blue cheese burger only to get blue cheese dressing. It is not a cheese burger. It is some weird dressing burger. This  just happened to me at the Mole's eye pub in Brattleboro last weekend. Dammit. The beer selection is good they even have harpoon on tap. Have at it.
I have been to the bar section now over 6 times and I have to say I really truly enjoy it. It's relaxed, and neighborhoody and I always seem to be able to strike up a good conversation with the fellow patrons- always a good sign. Last weekend we were all watching the godfather and talking about chicken marsala recipes (corn starch)! and Ennio Morricone soundtracks with the owner. Go to the bar for good conversation, nice drinks (they even have Woodford reserve) and a very professional bartender, why I'm willing to bet he knows what 2 knocks on the bar is all about.
