I really wish I could give this place a higher rating but when I went their kitchen was having technical difficulties so I don't think it's fair to give them a higher rating.
That being said, we were able to get on order of chips and guac, which were pretty good. Â The beer list is nice and very fairly priced - they had local brews from PBC and some from far away too. Â
Two things wowed me. Â One: Â the spectacular patio. Â Set back from the street you ALMOST forget you are in the city. Â It's pretty awesome. Â Two: are server was super sweet - one of the nicest servers I have ever encountered and I was one myself another lifetime ago. Â
So I plan on going back soon (Taco Tuesday maybes?) and hopefully these guys can add a star or two.
This place came highly recommended by some friends. Â Walking in to a narrow divey bar with Christmas lights up in June, I was a bit surprised by their recommendation until I ordered the food. Â The black bean nachos were great, the cornmeal crusted shrimp tacos were to die for, and the Mexican corn on the cob was a life changing experience. Â Pair it with one of their vast selections of draft beers and all at very reasonable prices. Â They have a nice little outdoor patio section as well. Â Will definitely be going back to this gem again and again!
Review Source:A solid neighborhood bar with good local draft selection and food. Â We stopped in while in the neighborhood for a show. Â A short walk from the Girard subway stop this bar tucked away on a neighborhood street is a good getaway with a back partially-covered patio. Â We started with guacamole & chips which was very tasty and a very nice serving for $7. Â Not often that you need more chips to go with your order of guacamole, know what I mean...
For dinner my wife had the lamb burger topped with feta cheese, tzatziki, and olive tapenade. Â It was really great and I'd probably order it next time minus the olive...why you gotta go mess up a perfect burger? Â But the wife liked it and I'm sure many others. Â I had the shrimp tacos which were just okay. Â The chipotle aioli wasn't very spicy and they were way too heavily breaded. Â I had to douse them in hot sauce and limes to get some flavor. Â The highlight of the trip to me and what will probably get me back is the mexican corn on the cob with cilantro-lime mayo and cotija cheese. Â One of my favorite things in the world and they do it right here. Â Love it. Â
All in all a good find with good a good beer selection, laidback vibe, great service, and pretty good food.
