Went with friends on a Saturday night. Half the city was down the shore, so the place wasn't that crowded. The first of us to arrive made it clear we were there for drinks only, and the hostess said it was no problem. We were seated outside in the garden, and the waitress immediately became visibly annoyed that we were not ordering food. At no point during the 2+ hours we were there was there every a point where there weren't free tables, so it wasn't like we were preventing her from having customers who wanted to order a full meal. When we paid, she did not bring the change back, which is incredibly rude and presumptuous. So, very bad marks for service. Won't be returning any time soon.
Review Source:Silk City is a very amazing place. It is a diner on one side and a mini nightclub on the other side. Both sides serve alcohol, so if you can't stand walking through a bunch of people across the dance floor at the club, you can always order your drinks at the diner. Â The venue is pretty old, so it's not that appealing. You can't see much at night though, so it shouldn't be a problem to come here for a good dance.
I've already been here a few times, and I can tell there are a lot of regulars here. People seem to know the DJ(s) well, and I've even seen a few of the same people on different days. Also, every time I came, the dance floor was PACKED! It is usually full of people and you can't really go anywhere far into the dance floor.
Silk City plays hip-hop music, or what my friend likes to call it, "swag music." It isn't the mainstream music that most clubs play, so you probably won't hear the uppity house music that's playing everywhere. You will hear old school songs, and some of them can even make you hype because you would be so excited to hear that song being played since you haven't heard for a while. This is what makes this place pretty awesome; I can get away from mainstream and go back to the music I use to love at clubs.
Warning: The lounge gets super packed on weekend nights starting Thursday! The ventilation also sucks; therefore, you will be hot and you will be drenched in sweat.
Pros: Music, Diner next door
Cons: So hot, so crowded
