The Abbaye

Every pub should be like this...but then we'd be in Belgium, not the US! They usually have about 15-20 decent tap choices, one of which would please anyone, and a good kitchen with reliably tasty dishes...this is another standard place I visit every Philly trip. The seating area wraps around, and there is seating outside, so you'll likely get a spot.

They abbaye is the go-to neighborhood bar of my boyfriend and I.  The clientele is young and trendy yet not pretentious.  For brunch, the blood marys are particularly superb, and for dinner I would recommend starting with the vegan wings.  I think I would choose them over regular wings most days!  Servers and management are always friendly.  I've spent entire Sunday afternoons here with friends and the service never "drops off" like some places when you stay for food and a few rounds.

We had a great brunch here.  The huevos rancheros was so yummy!  I have never had it on the sweet corn cake, but it worked very well.  A wonderful twist on this dish.  And, I was not expecting a good Mexican dish in Philly, but they did a great job.  Service was friendly and attentive, and the drinks were good at a reasonable price.  Would go back for sure!
