These facilities are great for any event. The rooms have high ceilings, wood accents, window treatments, facilities have easy equipment rental, and the rates cannot be beat whatsoever. plenty of parking onsite, clean rooms, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. All staffs are friendlier. Also, there is one of the staffs who knows sign language. It is easy to communicate with her. It is more convenient to go the bar on the first floor. The bar is very cozy. I would love to use this site whenever I plan to have events.

Review Source:My sisters, son and I went to the fest, and had a great time.Got there aaround 5.00 after the rain(good timing),and got a table just outside the main tent. Saw the Larkin Moran Bros. and they were amazing. Â And of course the Tossers closed the evening and were even better than last year...at least Tony Duggins didn't forget the lyrics to some of the songs this year. The drinks were reasonable at 5 tickets a drink, plus we brought flasks to add a little nip to the weak drinks. Also,I have to mention the Pipe and Drums of the Emerald Society who sounded great. All in all just a great evening.
Review Source:What's better than drinking Guiness at a bar? Drinking it at an authentic Irish bar. The Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC) has a bar!!!
I've never been to Ireland. But I imagine that a bar in Ireland would be just like this. I believe the folks in charge of IAHC went out of their way to make it as authentic as possible. They did a good job stacking the bar with a variety of alcoholic beverages.
You'll also find a pretty cute gift shop. Anything green and Irish, you'll find here.
It's been a long time I've had this much fun. If you're looking for something to do over the weekend, then definitely consider IAHC. It's not a night club - but it's still a ton of fun for those of you who like to find good company, get a good groove, and enjoy good drinks.
Love this place. How could you not. After all it is an entire building devoted to all things Irish.
We typically start our St. Patrick's day here. They offer Irish dancers and raffle prizes (don't laugh, Hubby won $400 one year) and plenty of beer (not green, thank God!). And they offer Irish food.
But this place is great year round. They have classes all year long. Check their schedule and you are bound to find a class that interests you. But best of all, they have a PUB!
Yep, a great Irish pub located inside the building. It's a comfortable space with nice people in front of the bar and behind. Plus low tables and comfy chairs around the room for chilling with your friends. And they offer live music on certain days. You can check their schedule and make sure that someone is playing when you plan to attend.
Love this place!
It has a great little pub and the food was good. I had the fish and chips the fish were big and my husband had the corn beef was very tasty. Â They had a meeting going on and we got to hear some great music. Â This is a nice place to come back again too. Â The place in it self is a great reason to come back to as well.
Wait, where did this place come from? Â Packed into a nondescript residential area in a forgotten corner of northwest Chicago is this grand structure dedicated to all things green and four-leafed. Â And inside, beyond the museum and art gallery and library and gift shop and rental space, is a wonderful little Irish pub. Â Supposedly there are three... my little group was at the one to the left of the main entrance.
We were there to see the Dooley Brothers play their Eire ballads and folksy oldies and maybe have a Guinness or two, and hey that's what we did! Â And because this place is awesome, throughout the night we mingled with people dressed up in medieval garb coming out of a Renaissance Fair and had strange conversations filled with expressions I didn't know with a legitimate old man from Ireland.
I think I found my bar of choice the next time I'm in... uh... Irving Park? Albany Park? Forest Glen? Where exactly?
I haven't been here in years, and remembered thinking that this place was a boatload of fun the first time I was there for a Celtic celebration of some kind. The old school building has been converted to multi-use and includes a pretty amazing Irish pub on the first floor which every time I have visited has a spirited band playing Irish patriotic songs and some American rock and roll classics. This place is family friendly so if you want a place where you can bring the kids, have a beer, and listen to some Irish music this is the place. We saw people with kids everywhere. The children were enjoying the scene and while people were drinking and having a great time, the kids were too. My friend said it reminded him of an American transplant of the village pub idea in Ireland. Everyone is welcome, and you can have fun, but also be careful about dropping the F-bomb since there are some 4 year old kids dancing in front.
The space is used for rental (weddings, parties, other Ethnic group celebrations) so we saw ballroom dancing in the ballroom, some Bulgarian folk dancing group in another room, and an African-American celebration in another. It was cool to see the "Irish" offering space to other people and groups. Very cool.
While the beers on tap were typical Irish beers and cider, there were a lot of people drinking Miller and Miller light. So, no need to be fancy. Beers were $5 for imports.
The band was lots of fun. They even tossed in a BoDeans song!
It's The Irish American Heritage Center..It's pretty self explanatory so don't go there looking for Corona and Chicken Wings. It's name alone may  lead one to someone to jokingly ask how many bars were in the building...Not jokingly, the answer would be three.
I have been here a few times...Sometimes for music once for a dart tournament...Good beer, good times all around.
My daughter takes Irish Stepdancing here through Trinity Irish Dance. It's a lovely building and you can research your Irish heritage here, and there is a small Irish restaurant pub that looks promising. Office staff really helpful and tours are offered too! WOuld be an awesome venue for a party or wedding.
Review Source:Bar/Fifth Province area now open Wednesday through Sunday. Â "New" menu (additions). Â If you want to get some great food, a pint, and have a random conversation with strangers, this is the spot. Â Also tons of activities all year 'round, every day of the week. Â You don't have to be Irish to enjoy yourself here.
Review Source:I come here at least twice a year...
1. St. Patty's Day party... It's full of families, drunks, and drunk families. You can pretty much do anything and NOT get kicked out (except fight, that'll get ya kicked out for sure). Can you fall over a table and spill everyone else's beer at said table and not get kicked out? Yes, you can do that as my brother learned first hand.
2. The huge Irish Fest in July. This is fantastic! Irish boys, Irish music, Irish pours on the booze... Yeah, you'll find that all here.
p.s., do yourself a favor, come here when the Mickey Finn's play, they are AWESOME!
This place is gorgeous! went here first time for a Yelp event a couple years ago, been to a few events since then, it's not only huge but it's a very well kept building, seems as if it were once a school maybe? either way my friends and I always joke about throwing a Lolapoluza type 3 day fest here some day, until then if anyone wants to invite me to the next Party, invite away....
Review Source:I enjoy the Irish bar they have inside here - the Fifth Province - they have live Irish music on Friday nights, and no cover (though I always have a Guinness or two...). People even get up to dance jigs and other traditional dances.
A fun, relaxed neighborhood place to drink a beer by the fireplace with a friend or two, and listen to interesting music.
What a gem this place is!
I had the opportunity to host a Drivers Survival Seminar here just last night, and I was really blown away by how cool this place was. Â A converted school, the center is now home to a tons of community events, irish dance classes, a library, a really cool bar that had live music playing, and a slew of random people just hanging out and enjoying themselves. Â
Hanging out here for the night made me feel like I was back in high school, except without all the really attractive dressed up chicks. Â The nature of place was extremely outgoing and fun and I really don't have another comparison for it in the City of Chicago. Â
Maybe I'm just weird, but I would love to come back here again and just hang out for the night. Â Maybe read a book, check out one of the events or just have a drink. Â I would highly suggest checking out this place if you are looking for something different to do in the city.
All around good times.
Christmas Bazarr and Santa!!! :)
I have to say, that this is one of my favorite places to go. The Christmas Bazarr was great, HOWEVER the Santa was skinny and did not make an attempt to be friendly. The kids seemed reluctant to go near him, and he didn't help things by being silent. I would not go back to see this Santa, but do recommend this place for all other events
Even though I am not even close to being Irish I have had many a fun nights here. Wither its for the Irish American Heritage Festival or for the Yelp Summer Fest its such a great space to have a large event. You have to give props to a place that has a bar on almost every floor. Speaking of their bars they have a good selection of Irish beers and cider's as well as your typical run of the mill American beer. The bar tenders are always nice and I always have had good food here served at the various events I have attended. I am sure I'll be visiting again.
Review Source:My wife and I made the wise choice of choosing the IAHC for our Wedding. Â Originally, it was booked for the "classroom" on the first floor. Â However, about 5 days before Sept. 5th (our wedding date), Leslie called to inform us that no one had booked the East Hall (which is connected to their pub). Â Since no one had booked it, they offered to upgrade us for free. Â Of course, we obliged.
Having never seen the East Hall prior to setting up for the wedding, we were in awe. Â The hall is connected to their pub, which is a gorgeous wooden bar with a fireplace and nice big windows. Â The hall itself was lined with the same huge windows, a stage in the center and a nice wooden floor and trim. Â Having been okay with the "classroom", the East Hall was a dream come true.
Sheila a Leslie were friendly and genuinely cared about my wife, myself and our guests. Â They were extremely friendly and helpful. Â Sheila and the other bartender (I regretfully cannot remember her name) went the extra mile to help our caterers serve champagne and drinks. Â The security guard even helped us put together the arch.
All in all, the IAHC went above and beyond our expectations. Â Without the IAHC and the wonderful people who help, our day would not have been nearly as special and memorable.
Thank you again IAHC and staff. Â I cannot recommend you enough for events!!!
This was quite the interesting place. Â It appears to be an old school converted into a recreational/community center including a bar! Â Completely unexpected, but pleasantly welcomed. Â I was here for the Yelp Summerfest and had a good time. Â There was plenty of room to move around. Â I didn't venture up to the other floors, but I was definitely intrigued enough to want to check it out again on another occassion. Â I believe they rent their space for private parties... another thing I'll be checking out. Â The staff was very nice... bonus!
Review Source:I came here for the Yelp Summerfest event and it was amazing! Â The venue was great. Â The building is large and has 4 floors with an outdoor area. Â There's also a bar on the first floor with a dance floor. Â I don't know what other events they hold here but I'm sure they are all very fun and good. Â There are lots of rooms and the hallways are long and wide. Â The bathrooms could use a little touch up but most of the stalls work.
Review Source:Love, love, love this place. Great service and servers. True Irishmen and women are always in attendance. Great live music on the weekends. The Irish Fest is great every year! There are beautiful banquet rooms to rent upstairs. The Fifth Province Bar is Beautiful. Overall this is a great place to sit down and have a pint and listen to traditional Irish Music.
Review Source:This is a GREAT hidden treasure, Hidden on a residential street. I go EVERY YEAR for the Irish Fest. It's SUPERCOOL (air conditioned) when it's REAL hot & muggy outside. The Fifth Province Lounge is a treat too. Another large area for shopping & A few indoors, When the fest occurs. A nice stage theatre too.
Review Source:Even though we had a bit of trouble navigating around here due to the expressway, it was worth it.
Saw a play here last night - "Dancing at Lughnasa"., performed by the Seanachai Theater Company (reviewed separately). Â As an aside, this is a great play about 5 Irishwomen set in the fictional town of Ballybeg in 1936, and definitely worth seeing if you're into Irish history or just want to experience some really fine live theater.
The building itself is cool, old, big, and full of history. Tons of stuff going on and plenty to do and see.
A truly unique venue to see a play, take a class, or attend an event.
Alas, the bar was closed on my visit, but I'll be sure and check it out on my next visit.
Came here for Yelp Summerfest and liked the building/grounds a lot. Â This building is big, but it's layout is great for a summer shindig with warm wood tones, big bar, and large lawn space.
One suggestion: Â Perhaps add more seating outside so attendees can enjoy the great Chicago summer weather!
I attended the Irish American Heritage Festival here and it was one of the best times I'd had in ages. The building itself is old school...no...literally...it looks like a school. Only, ya know, with a bar. As you do.
Everyone was friendly, the beer was plentiful (many thanks to our kindly bartenders that weekend...they earned their keep), the bathrooms well stocked, and the stands full of good eats and interesting treats. Can't wait to see if this place keeps it up for the Yelp Summerfest. Fingers crossed.
Always a terrific time! Â I went on the Saturday of the recent Irish Festival for the North side of Chicago. Â I took my 9 month old Bridget. Â The biggest annoyance with the fest is having to find street parking but expected since the festival uses the main lot! Â So this time I was able to pull by the entrance and leave Bridget and the stroller with my best friend. Â Then I found parking. Â No problem. Â Then found them easily later. Â Festival was terrific - weather was great. Â Spent time outside then later went inside. Â Changed Bridget using nice changing table in women's restroom - great! Â A couple of doors had ramps - which they use for kegs but great for strollers too. Â I have been to IAHC for concerts in the auditorium which is seldom used! Â I have seen bands in the main rooms inside - always a great time. Â The bar is great - terrific people. Â I have had family parties in the private rooms - usually with catering from La Villa. Â Always a great time!
Review Source:Are you 1/16 Irish? You can research your ancestors here at the Heritage center to reconfirm the best part of your lineage. Or maybe you want to learn Gaelic. This is your place. I have been going here years. I have attended the following events:
-COUNTLESS St. Patrick's Day's
-Dozens of christenings and baby/bridal showers
-Watching my many cousin/neices step dance
They have several private rooms. And the bar, The Fifth Province is the best Guinness pour outside Ireland.
great place to go on friday or saturday nights, its within a short stumble from my house and i appreciate the fact that genuine irish people hang out here (not the be confused with the infinite number of 'chicago irish' who confuse drinking with culture). Â An interesting and unique place
Review Source:This hidden gem on the northside is a terrific place to get back to your roots or get some culturing!
The interior is quite spacious and the bar on the first floor is incredibly cozy with warm wooden decor and an inviting fireplace to sip one of their Irish draft selections next to.
During the summer they host a great, intimate festival on the grounds open to the public. The calendar on the website features all of their current events from Irish Dancers' performances to dinners (some activities are members only).
Great venue for a party/reception. Our work had a party there and it was amazingly fun. Everyone got Irish, I mean "drunk," and (shut up, I'm Irish so I can say that...it's different when we call ourselves drunk...because we are, and we know it) my pal stole a bag of Cheetos and I ate a lot and pooped my pants the next day...and the day after that. I swear there's Olestra in there. I SWEAR.
