I was very disappointed, after all of the Yelp hype.

This place, like most sushi joints in this country, is run by Koreans -- a nice middle-aged couple.  The service was indeed good.  I sat at the bar, so I got to watch other the man prepare other customers' rolls.  He has good artistic sense.

The food, however, was unremarkable.  I had to wait for two types of fish in my sashimi platter to thaw before they became edible.  I spat out chewy parts of a couple of pieces, and the tuna in particular tasted old.

If you like fancy rolls, this place may be for you, but don't expect quality fish when you order nigiri or sashimi.

P.S.: Unlike another Yelper here, I wouldn't recommend the fried ice cream.

What a random delightful find! Very fresh fish, classic preparation and unique combos - definitely a treasure in the midst of a region where you wouldn't normally expect high caliber Japanese/sushi. The special sauce on the sizling steak was actually A-1 which was a bit disappointing. Check out my photos to see the freshness and the tempura was truly amazing. Sad they didn't have quail egg for my ikura though :-(

Since moving to Newburgh from Queens a few months back I have been on a quest for a decent sushi joint. After much disappointment I can finally say that this place is not bad at all!!! I would definitely come here the next time I have an emergency sushi craving.

My family and I randomly stopped by here for Christmas dinner because we were craving Japanese food, and I have to say that Itzmi went above and beyond our expectations. The sushi is very fresh and just... really really good (you must try the white tuna tatake!!). You get a good size portion for your meal and it's priced very fairly. The service is also good--very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They even gave us complimentary fried ice cream at the end of our meal! Overall: five stars, no question.

Absolutely top notch. Quiet, serene, friendly and most of all humble. The service is always five stars at Itzmi. More importantly, the food matches and is miles better than typical Asian cuisine that is stationed through out the area. Though not necessarily traditional Japanese on all ends, the liberties that are taken are in favor of a unique menu and not that of a shortcut. Itzmi is above and beyond any other imitations and retains a classy feel through out it's menu and service.

Pro tip: End your night with the fried iced cream. Thank me later.

Awesome experience, took my wife here for her birthday.  We brought our daughter too.  Service was great, even though we did not order for our child, they brought her soup and a bowl of rice (no charge).  Food was EXCELLENT, menu is very well put together.  Prices are good.  Chicken boguki is my new favorite.  Nice bar too

Sushi wise I prefer this place as opposed to Yobo. Their sushi is better, but Yobo has them beat as far as ambiance. Itzmi's location isn't very good either. Everything tasted very fresh. Prices are reasonable. So if you are in the area and want some good sushi and are only concerned with the sushi, then come here. If you want entertainment and good at best sushi, then it's Yobo.

When I lived in New Paltz and had a boyfriend who lived in Walden, we'd go here quite a bit with friends. Great sushi, large portions, good prices and a very, very nice staff. The decor was a little austere, but the food made up for it.
