Breakfast review: Not wanting to wait in line for breakfast at Niko's we stopped in here. My dad once said they had great homemade hash. My husband did not feel the same way when he ordered it. I had an omelette. It was oily and lacked seasoning. Our waitress was friendly and efficient but this is just not a place I'd come back to for breakfast. It's a bar. I feel like they are specifically open for breakfast in order to make a few bucks off of the Niko's line spillover. I learned my lesson and will wait for Niko's, no matter how long it takes.
Review Source:Went there for the first time tonight, seemed like a nice bar with an older crowd but that didn't bother us.
Started with the scallop and bacon appetizer, which should have been awesome in theory but wasn't. Â Scallops came out in less than five minutes and were large, looked nice but as we tasted them they were clearly deep fried. Â Not a great flavor at all, served over greens drizzled in balsamic...like I said, should have been great but were not.
For dinner, I had the baked scallops, rice pilaf and asparagus. Â The scallops were bizarrely salty and baked in butter, rice was cold and greasy and the asparagus was cooked strangely, seared on one side and cold. Â A miss in my book. Â
My husband had the baked haddock which he enjoyed, served with steamed carrots and mashed potatoes. Â The potatoes were COLD and flavorless.
Service was fine but overall the food was far from memorable, will not be returning.
Went again recently when we were out and it was just too hot to cook at home. Â We're done. Â We won't go back. Â We had one of our long time waitresses that we've known for years, and she's apparently succumbed to the new way - ignoring the customers. Â Was more interested in chatting with her co-workers than seeing if we needed another drink or anything. Â Chicken parm was thin and hard, overcooked. Â Beer was lukewarm. Â As is now usual, we sat there with dirty dishes around us wondering if we were allowed to order another drink. Â We've been going there since my son was a toddler ordering mozzarella sticks and kids' menu grilled cheeze. Â he's now 17 and we are done, so done. Â They obviously don't care about service or quality anymore. Â I agree that a dollar pizza is a great deal. Â But that's all this place is good for anymore.
Review Source:Haven't eaten here in over 2 years, didn't like it then but thought we would give it another try. Â I had the twin lobster for $16.99 came with two sides plus soup or chowder...cant beat that. I think they forgot to put the clams in the clam chowder and it was tasteless. Â Got baked potato which was barely warm, cauliflower which looked like it was just pulled from the garden it was so dirty and ice cold...lobsters were good, how could you screw that up. Â Friend got barbecue special, with chicken and pork, she got fries and broccoli, Â she said the chicken was dry, and the pork smelled funny, turns out the barbecue sauce was disgusting, broccoli was ice cold..she also got the beef barley soup which was missing the beef. Â Â Oh well, we gave it one last try......
Review Source:Got one of the those 80% off gift certificates from http://Restaurant.com so we decided to try it. Walking in the dining room side was empty and really devoid of any character. Needs something maybe a fireplace to spice it up. Decided to sit on the bar side at a high top. A couple of people at the bar. The bar specials $5 apps and Monday night specials seemed like great deals but we decided to order off the menu. Got 2 specials Chicken Orveito and Scallops and shrimp over lobster raviolis- really big portions but I can't say either had much flavor. Chicken dish was missing the lemon favor as described on the menu and the ravioli dish missed the mark too. Bar got really loud with just the addtion of a couple more people. I think it's a neighborhood spot maybe that was the noise issue. Go back? No, even with the Gift Certificate I'd go elsewhere.
Review Source:Good food especially their seafood and prime rib specials. Restuarant is split in two with one side with bar with some seating and multiple flat screen TVs and keno. The other side is the main dinning area with one tv which is usually on mute and small screen with keno results. Wait staff is pleasant and attentive. Â I was a weekly visitor until they stopped accepting Amex. Â Now our visits are limited to maybe twice a month. Â Just a short walk from the Weymouth greenbush stop.
