Food is excellent, drinks are pretty good and cheap. Fun place to be, great environment and most of all, the bathroom is always clean. Came here twice in one day. During the day, they still have a decent crowd and the service is top quality. Came at night for drinks, snacks and a good time. The bathroom was still clean despite the bar was packed. If they maintain such a clean environment, I can only imagine how clean they keep everything else. For the price, the atmosphere, service and cleanliness, this place deserves 5 stars.
Review Source:This place is awesome. I can't believe nobody told me about $1.50 taco nights on Tuesday. I've been wasting so many Tuesday nights. Tacos - GOOD tacos - are $1.50 each and you can add a side FOR A DOLLAR. That's Taco Bell cheap, people. Plus, good beer, great service, skee ball (!) and ridiculously clean bathrooms for its proximity to a college campus. High fives all around, Jake's.
Review Source:Went here on a tip while in town for the ACC tournament. What a great find ! Excellent service, very good beer selection, nice menu and really good food. We ate and played pool while we killed a few hours between games . Super nice servers ! Glad we learned about Jake's as we went back numerous times during the tournament.
Review Source:Have to be honest, I only went for the food. Â And I wasn't disappointed! Â Their menu isn't overly complicated and is so far beyond the usual bar food menu. The server was helpful and prompt. Salad ingredients were very fresh with good lettuce/spinach. The "Tree Hugger" wrap was awesome. I look forward to returning and trying other menu items too.
It's a pretty large place and has several tables for outside seating. Â I'm guessing it might get busy at night or during playoff season, but for lunch, it's on my "definite" list.
I am really impressed with this bar. I've been coming to this bar for the past several months with my girlfriends because we wanted a new place to hang out at. It is very inviting and very easy to find on the outside.
They have plenty of drink selections, which helps because several of my girlfriends are very picky in what they like to drink. The food from Jake's is also some of the BEST in town, especially the wings and quesadillas!
The staff is always super nice and super helpful, however my only critique would be that it can be slow service, especially at night -- but that is because they get SO crowded because it is probably the most popular bar in town. I understand that there is nothing they really they can do about that though. The more people, the better the vibe.
I recommend that anyone who goes here to hang out, especially at night, to have a little patience with the service. If you can do that, I can promise you will not be disappointed with your experience.
My first impression of Jakes wasn't as spectacular as the previous entries. Â I wasn't blown away bar their bar food, their service, and had trouble getting a good impression of their ever changing beer selection. Â
It was nice hanging out but the crowd seemed like run-off from the Pour House, the jukebox was set on annoying rap, the bathrooms were messy, and their beer selection kept dwindling down with each drink, I guess kegs run out but come on.
The only redeeming quality was the skeeball. Â
That's it really.
This place has the best food for a bar/pool place that I have seen so far.
They have everyday specials  on food and alcohol. Nothing else to say I guess.
And oh, if you are into spicy food, they just started "Nuclear" hot wings and also have a challenge. I think they have prizes too.
Awesome pool hall. Fantastic bartenders. Couldn't ask for a better afternoon hang out. Tons of great bottled beers. Guinness on tap. Specials everyday. Excellent bar food (burgers, dogs, poppers, etc). Tends to get a little crazy late night, that's why I go in the afternoon. Also has an awesome new patio to accommodate smokers.
