Another amazing experience at the Jazz Corner. Listened to a journey through Jazz. Bob Marsteller even joined in on brass. So awesome to listen to a master at work!! Music was great, as always. Brought back lots of memories of jazz band in high school. Bought the Jazz Corner Story book which helps support their foundation that supports music education in schools in the area. And Bob signed it!! It also has recipes in it. Score!!

Food choices this time around (4 adults):
    Proscuitto di parma flatbread
    Calamari (special that night)
Fried green tomato salad (licked the plate)
    Baby Back Ribs
    Waygu Burger
Stuffed chicken (sweet fancy moses how awesome was that)

We also got dessert but that's a faint memory now. Please go eat here people. Even if jazz music isn't your thing. This place should be. It's amazing. Never misses. Can't wait till next year.

We were at the Jazz Corner last week and had the pleasure of listening to the wonderful music of  "A Journey Through Jazz with The Martin Lesch Band".

Cory our server was amazingly attentive to all of our needs!

The food... was as best as that we have had, not on the island but anywhere.

My wife and I both agree that the Jazz Corner is one of those special places that comes a long, does an outstanding job at food and comfort, and they fade after awhile, but this place has been nere 14 years!

We both split the Grilled Pear, Brie & Roasted Beet Salad, we should have each had our own, it was very good.

My wife had Balsamic Roasted Portobello and I had the special of the night, soft shell crabs over a potato and vegetable medley, both entrees were "amazing"!

We each had the Vanilla Caramel Custard Cake, a big mistake each having our own desert, as one Vanilla Caramel Custard Cake could feed three people.  The cake was also very, very good,

We live in Boston, and visit Hilton Head Island regularly, when we do visit again, The Jazz Corner will be one of our stops for dinner and entertainment.

    Congratulations on your success Bob!

You must eat here at least once in your lifetime!

Wow. I can't tell you how much I want to go back for dinner and jazz again!

You must get the fried green tomato salad. No exceptions. It can be shared between two people, but you will not want to after you have your first bite.

A BIG recommendation.....actually make that two:

    1. Before you make reservations and you know approx the week or days you are able to go, listen to the jazz group online before deciding. You may find a particular group more to your taste on a specific night. Also note that each night has a different cover charge depending on the group that is performing that night. It could be no charge or $20 per person. Leave a msg if you have questions....they WILL call you back that day and quickly.

    2. You MUST order the vanilla custard cake for dessert. PLEASE PLEASE do NOT make the same mistake I did. I should have listened to my fellow Yelpers about how great this dessert was but I was tempted by a chocolate dessert. I can't deny chocolate usually, but the Vanilla Custard Cake was Phenominal! I was sooooo jealous that I didn't order it but only had a few bites of my boyfriend's serving. I really wanted to pick up his plate, run outside, and eat it myself.

Ok...third one. Order the Fried green tomato salad...order a second for yourself and send the dish to me FedEx overnight.....along with the custard cake.

I got the prosciutto wrapped scallops....Yum! I would order that again too.

The hospitality was great, and I promise you will have a great and memorable time.

I will return even if the nurse has to wheel me in on my nursing home bed....I want that salad and cake..ending with a cup of coffee and jazz.

    Enjoy!

The drinks and live music were great but the rib dinner was terrible.  I also had the gumbo which was cold and salty.  I would go again but will avoid the over priced food.

We have been to the Jazz Corner very many times over the past few years. First we went mainly for the music which is truly first rate. Bob M brings many world class musicians to his place. His restaurant has constantly improved to where now we go for good food, good wine and as always great music. There are not many places anywhere that can equal the Jazz Corner. And if your are lucky Bob will sit in and play his horn. He is good at that too.

    Food - 3 stars
    Jazz - 5 stars
    ambience - 4 stars
    service - 4 stars
    PRICEY!!.

We came here on Saturday night before New Years... the featured band, Hotlanta was very entertaining and we enjoyed the set. However, I found the food, menu and wine list to be a bit lacking... We ended up spending nearly $200 for a bottle of mediocre Argentiniona wine (twist top), which was the "special" of the night for $34. We also had 1 app and 2 entrees.

The food just lacked flavor. it was prepared and presented well, but just lacked flavor.

If you want an awesome dinner experience, the jazz corner is the place to go in Hilton Head. The entertainment is fantastic and the food and service are also impressive.

The food was very fresh tasting, and the options the menu had were pretty extensive, having something for everybody. The fish and chips were an amazing gourmet take on the classic dish executed perfectly, and the scallop dish was succulent and fresh tasting, although it did come out cold.

The owners of the restaurant are clearly passionate about jazz and food, and make sure to stop by your table and socialize for a few minutes. While some may find them over friendly, I was enthralled on how they made you feel apart of the jazz family, and even had the opportunity to talk to the pianist who played that evening thanks to the owner.

Reservations are definitely required for the experience, but around 9:30, intermission comes and the place usually clears a few seats for walk ins looking for dessert.

    It's a must go.

The food is amazing!  So was the jazz, especially the first set.  The second was a string of covers.

But back to the food.  My wife's burger was the best we've ever had!  (also the most expensive, $24)  I had prosciutto wrapped scallops that were also really, really good.

We will certainly be back.  Such a cool place.

Back again for the second year in a row... there was no doubt that Jazz Corner topped our list of where we wanted to dine again this year.

Much to my surprise, they were serving up the same amazing watermelon salad this time around (August must be the perfect time of the year for watermelon!).

I got the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. I don't eat a lot of meat, so when I do, I want it to be good. I was not disappointed! Seriously delicious. My husband was equally in love with his swordfish.

At the recommendation of the server, we ordered the vanilla caramel custard cake, which was worth all the extra exercising I had to do the next day to burn off those calories!

Oh... and not to be over-shadowed by the food & service, the music was once again an impressive co-star of the evening!

We even bought the recently-published book that includes the history of Jazz Corner, some recipes, and two CDs. Fun to look through and will make a good conversation piece on our coffee table at home.

I like to go to great restaurants on vacation, but The Jazz Corner stands in a league of its own.

To start, get reservations 2 weeks in advance if you want to be sure to get a table.

My wife and I went as a special date night on vacation.  We are not especially big jazz fans, but we like good food and new experiences so we figured this place could be a treat.  Understatement of the century.

Our waiter, Jorge, was exceptionally helpful and patient with our many questions about the wine list and menu.  After taking our wine order, he brought out a different, comparably priced bottle of wine saying that the bartender strongly believed that this was a superior bottle.  He opened the bottle and allowed us to taste the wine, with the assurance that if we had even the slightest dissatisfaction, he would take the bottle away and bring us our original choice at no expense.

The food was by far the best I've had on HHI.  It was pricey, but nothing you wouldn't expect to pay for the quality of ingredients or nearly perfect preparation.

Only blemish on the evening was that there was a large rehearsal dinner party (50+ ppl) that night, and it was evident most of them had little to no interest in the music portion of the evening.  Though they were loud and obnoxious, the staff handled them brilliantly with polite requests to be quiet and the occasional shushing.  Despite the frustration to the musicians and staff, no one lost their composure.

Meal cost $200 after tip, but this included an appetizer, shared salad, two entrees, a bottle of wine, and after dinner drinks.  I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a special night on Hilton Head Island.

Very fun experience. My wife and I were definitely the youngest in the place at 33 and 28 years old but that didn't take away from our enjoyment. Great jazz and delicious/ fresh food! Highly recommend for a different, fun type of evening.

Wow, we lucked out. On our drive down to Hilton Head, we selected the restaurant that we would celebrate our 13th anniversary. Much to our dismay the recording at Jazz Corner said they were booked several weeks. My husband called back to speak to a person and they had just had a cancellation for the night we wanted at 8 PM. Thinking this was a little late, but we were lucky we took the reservation immediately. It isn't too late at the Jazz Club. This is when the music starts and the servers really make the effort to place your meal throughout the show if you order each of the courses.

To start, our server, Renee, (and her several assistants) were really fun and attentive - the Jazz Corner is lucky to have her. At first, the menu looked pretty standard and I wasn't super-excited about the fare, but we ordered  a dish from the first course and second course to share and then each ordered an entree. We started with a cocktail - cosmo for me and rum and coke for him - they were strong and good. The Bruscetta, which was more like an antipasti, was phenomenal! The music started, which on Tuesday nights is a mix of jazz (special guest trombone player, the internationally renowned Richard Orr) and blues; the band was fun and talented. We went with the Fried Green Tomato Salad for the second course and they split it for us. Very good, but lots of heavy sauce so don't order it if you are looking for a light salad, but very good for what it is. There were small bits of bacon that lit up the flavor of everything. Finally, I had an Atlantic salmon special that came with swiss chard (very salty, but just the way I them) and pimento grits (which I was very nervous about, but were delicious). He had the Filet Mignon, which was just right (even though he ordered it medium, ghast!) and very tasty. His sides were mashed potatoes and asparagus (which was pretty raw, but again the way I like it). The whole dish had some thin onion rings on top.

Now, we were celebrating so we decided to drink our desert and we had the Millionaire's Coffee and Grand-ma Martini. Both were great, but the Grand-Ma Martini was really good (too good).

The atmosphere is really great. At one point, the drummer started drumming on the glasses and dishes on the table next to him.

Wish you could put 6 stars that's how great this place is all around.  Just moved here from Chicago so when I heard there was a place that my girlfriend and I would love i was skeptical.  Man was I mistaken.  Everything from the service to the food and atmosphere was top notch and unforgettable.  Made a reservation  a few days too late and the only spot open was at the bar but that was just fine.  The bartender was very nice and knowledgeable and made our experience great.
The food was outstanding as well and will def be going back.
Thanks for making my girlfriend feel at home and fall in love with this island even more.  Keep up the great work.

It's nice enough to be able to hang out and listen to good music for the night, but when you are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food served and the high level of service, it makes for a great night.

We started our meal with the blackened oysters ($12) which are served on the half shell with two types of chutney. The oysters are first charred on a hot skillet and then broiled. They were plump, large and delicious. For a main course we had the vegetable linguini. One with shrimp and one with sea scallops ($28 ea.) The shrimp and the scallops were large, fresh and full-flavored. The vegetables were all lightly sauteed and had a great bite.

Although they looked great, we didn't order deserts, but those at other tables were raving about them.

Bottle wine prices were fair and as mentioned, the service was excellent.

    Highly recommended.

Top drawer jazz entertainment. Excellent food full bar, great service. This place is usually full, so make reservations as early as you can. You won't be disappointed.

Wow, wow, WOW! Really, that's pretty much what went through my head at the end of the night when I was walking away from this corner - literally - establishment. I made reservations a week before for a Friday dinner featuring the Noel Freidline Quintet ft. Rene Ebalaroza. The day after my reservation, it was "Sold Out" - and we're not talking this false "sold out because we want you to think we're awesome" sold out. No, when we arrived early to our reservation, the place was packed, tables full, bar with standing room only, you get the idea.

I'm usually not one for dropping a ton of money on dinner (let's just say I ended up with a $140 check including tax for two - $20 a person music charge, about avg. $25 an entree, drinks, and desert), but I decided to give it a go for a special someone who's a jazz fan. It was 120% worth it! If I had the money, I would do it again. Okay, better way to put it is I would create a savings jar just to do it again.

I can't really put in words the awesomeness that was experienced at the Jazz corner, so I'm gonna' try with bullet points:

    1) Food = Exquisite: Try the swordfish, you won't be disappointed. Their gelato is from Pino Gelato in the same shopping center. Definitely worth it!

    2) Music = Liquor to My Ears: Rene was an amazing, AMAZING singer. I've never heard such a clean live band in my life. If they perform at the Jazz Corner again (and they will), make your reservations early!

    3) Drinks: They have some interesting and jazzy drinks here. If you're not opposed to alcohol, give one a try.

    4) Service: Best service I've ever had. The owner will occasionally play with the performers if he's in the mood. He's wife is also quite the social butterfly, so don't be surprised if she stops by your table for a chat.

All in all, one of the best nights of my life at this place. If you're in Hilton Head, I'm telling you (not suggesting) to stop by this place for the food AND the music!

I went on a Tuesday night for nothing other than to have a few drinks with my BF, order dessert and listen to live music. I would have given this place 5 stars except for the fact that the lady at the front door left something to be desired. There are two sessions, one at 7:30 and one at 9:30. Reservations were required for the 7:30 crowd (it was sold out) and it's first come first serve for the 9:30 crowd. I'm in my mid thirties and we were the youngest people there but must note that we were on HHI during the "off" season. It didn't bother me and I think this is a great place for date night. We sat at the bar and ordered the chocolate cake which was pretty good. The bartender was great and the music was fantastic. I would go again and think it's worth checking out.

I love this place for it's menu and atmosphere.  Every dish on the menu is complex and thoughful.  I love their friend green tomato salad--Radicchio,  fresh fried tomato, gorgonzola dressing.  Though this place offers numerous sophisticated entrees, I always get their burger...by far the best  that I've had, any place, any city!  It's stacked with fried egg, signature pimento cheese, bacon, and a few other things that I'm forgetting.

My fiancee and I may be the youngest people there every time, but it doesn't phase us one bit.  The music is always entertaining and makes me forget that I live on a island that lacks culture.

Servers are intelligent and diligent.  Management is friendly and attentive.

Surprisingly skilled jazz musicians, especially for a Monday night. Food was amazing- lobster macaroni and cheese special and roasted garlic bruschetta in particular. Very loud but great music- come to listen to the jazz, not for conversation. Only complaint was that the restaurant is very dark- hard to see all the great food!

This was our first visit to The Jazz Corner, but it will definitely NOT be our last!  The food was phenomenal; we had grilled shrimp and scallops, which were cooked perfectly.  We also had the bruschetta, which was the best we've had.

Then there was the live jazz, which kept us enthralled for almost three hours (till closing).  The band playing was amazing!

We both highly recommend this place.  It's pricey, but worth it!

Really fun, kind of expensive. Ambiance 5 stars, food 4 stars. Small, intimate venue where you listen/sometimes participate in jazz music while you eat...there is a 7.50 music charge for this privilege.

The food was not as good as some places in NYC or L.A. but definitely at the top of "All-American Fare" you'd expect from HHI or similar resort towns. My partner and I shared a salad...arugula with watermelon and a champagne dressing..very good. He had the filet mignon with lobster tail and I had the swordfish. Both were done perfectly, as you'd expect from any nice steakhouse type place.

Desert was a trifle and a berry soufflé. Neither was jaw-dropping good, but we'd all had enough wine by that point to subdue our tastebuds anyway...nice way to finish the meal.

My parents booked reservations months in advance...and had the time of their lives. Great place for baby boomers...they LOVED the group that was playing "Deis Guyz" (pronounced "Deez (like these). They were pretty talented...and a lot of fun. They had people with birthdays come up and do shots.

Wine list was reasonable, about a 200% markup from retail with many reasonable bottles around $30. Cocktails are similar to prices in NYC or L.A....paid $30 for 3 small shots of patron later.

Bottom line: great night out. With a couple of appetizers, bottles of wine (sans the shots) dinner for 5 was about $450...so not cheap, but could be done a lot cheaper. But if you want to take your boomer parents to someone really nice/fun on HHI...this is the place. And because they love it so much, I'm giving it a 5 star review.

Cutest spot ever... Must visit if you're on Hilton Head Island! The music was awesome and the owners are charming. The ambiance is perfect for enjoying jazz music, food, and tasty drinks. The prices are a little high but it's still great.

Good music, good food, good service.

Don't be disappointed when you walk in and see the tables are packed like sardines - as soon as you get your food and the music starts playing, you'll forget.

Warm, intimate vibe. Lots of good food to choose from. The she-crab soup is terrific. Fried-green-tomato salad is good too (surprisingly more so for the greens than the tomatoes).

Scallop and shrimp entree with grits was great as well, though the tasso ham that was in mine was quite skimpy: only got two small pieces in a sauce that nearly overcame the plate.

The sound system in the place is terrific. I typically bring earplugs to live-music venues, but none were needed here, and the 5-piece band sounded great.

We went here on New Years Eve and what a great time we had.
You started out with a 5 course meal, which was delicious. I understand it is not usually on the menu, only on special occasions.
You had great music, Jazz of course. The Noel Friedman Quintet played. The instruments consisted of Keyboards, Drums, Bass, Saxophone and Female Vocals. The played some interesting cover songs in a Jazz version.
The atmosphere here is great. Dark, Jazz Pictures on the wall, it is very cool.
If you love Jazz you have to come here. Call and make reservations, because many evenings they are fill to capacity ( sold out ) .

This Jazz Club is very classy and in a very nice location.

Looks like we will be back next New Years.

I can't believe this place hasn't been reviewed yet. To save you some time, just go now...don't bother reading any further. If you do want to stay and continue reading, I was going to keep typing anyway. I went on a Monday night around 7:30pm. You do need a reservation because even on a Monday night it gets packed up. I thought that since it was a Jazz club in SC, either the food or music was going to suffer. Both were incredible. I ordered pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with a blueberry demi-glaze and peach butter, it was so delectable. The ceasar salad was also very good with large pieces of anchovies, which is just the way I like it. The music was bayou inspired jazz which sounded clean and soulful. There were also a variety of covers played, i.e. Miles and Sinatra. If you like great food and music get a reservation and enjoy yourself.
