Yumm-Oh
We travelled here in May and, based on past reviews, decided to give this place a shot. Â What a good pick this was! Â This was the perfect place to come to after a really crappy plane ride into Savannah. Â The Rice Crispy martini was delicious!! Â Very sweet and they certainly don't skip on the Vodka. Wow, it packed a punch. Â Pretty much any martini you get here will be good. Â It's mostly a younger crowd but the atmosphere is good and this place is set right in the heart of historic downtown Savannah. Very beautiful area. Â Many good eateries right around the corner.
Got the Oreo Martini and IT WAS PHENOMENAL! We loved this place.
The happy hour prices were great. My husband got his Mich Ultra to go for $2.
Jen was so friendly and this place is a true gem and if I lived here I'd come everyday and try a new martini each day of the year since this place offers 300+ martinis!!!
This place is awesome. One word: GO!!!
I recommend this bar to all of my friends because the drinks you get here are simply unmatched and the service is always wonderful. Jen and Steve make you feel welcomed and they have such a friendly demeanor (Hence, the name Jens and Friends). Will always return here and and keep sending everyone I know that loves good company and good drinks!
We spent 2 nights in Savannah, and I insisted we return on our second night. Â I wish there were Jen's and Friends in Atlanta! Â Over the two evenings we tried:
-Mango martini
-Blackberry Lemon
-Swedish Fish
-Cherry
-Wildberry Lemon
All were tasty, but the mango and the berry/lemon combos were standout. Â Good service as well. Â I just wish they'd had the St. Germaine on hand to make an elderflower martini. Â Alas.
I've always been more into mixed drinks, and particularly martinis, than beer, so I was delighted when my gf discovered Jen's and Friends. Â Jen's is known for it's martinis, but until you see the menu, it's difficult to envision just how diverse of a selection they have. Â There were easily over 100 martinis everything ranging from your ordinary Cosmo all the way to Rice Crispie martini.
My gf and myself liked it so much our first visit, we decided to visit again. Â Between two nights, Â we tried out maybe 8 martinis there. Â My favorite was the Mango, but the Blackberry Lemon Drop is also spectacular. Â I can't say that everything we tried was great (the cherry martini and a few others we tried were average), but nothing was bad either. Â And most of the martinis ranged from good to spectacular.
While the big attraction at Jen's is the martinis, they do have a wide beer selection, as well. Â The bar is a bit small, so also not a place for parties or big groups. Â But it's definitely worth a drop-in if you're looking for an experience and you like a good martini.
After seeing Zane Lamprey have a great time at Jen's and Friends on "Drinking Made Easy" I decided I had to go, Pleepleus tee and all. And wow am I glad I did!
First off, Jen is awesome! As the sign behind the bar says, "Enter as strangers - leave as friends". Well we got to talking about everything from DME to Vegas to tiki bars to alcohol. After my friend and I killed 6 of the tastiest martinis I've ever had, Jen told us about a few more places we should check out on our drunken march across Savannah. After many hours out and about we decided to go back to the best spot we'd hit all day, Jen and Friends. And I may have lost count as to how many more martinis she made me until closing time, I do remember how delicious each one was. And I awoke to a great photo on my phone of me, Jen, and Pleepleus behind the bar.
Some of the martini's I really enjoyed:
-Elvis w Bakon...come on, it has peanut butter around the rim with bacon on that and as the garnish, that automatically makes it heavenly
-Rice Krispie Treat...the thing honestly tastes like a liquid rice krispie treat, and the garnish is one so that's a win
-Birthday Cake...it was like you took Cake Batter ice cream(one of my faves) and turned it into booze and put a Little Debbie snack with a lit candle on the rim
-Reese's Peanut Butter Cup...it's one of the best candy bars on the shelf so it's no surprise it's also one of the best martinis here
So in closing, if you've come to Savannah and you didn't go to Jen's and Friends, well...your trip sucked! You missed out on tons of beer and martini options, as well as the best bartender ever.
Itching for a kit kat martini? How about a cookie dough martini? Or maybe a bubblegum martini is more your style. If you can think up a martini flavor, chances are Jen's & Friends already has it on their menu.
Home of 300+ martinis, this dive bar is the spot. Completely unpretentious, and totally inventive, this intimate venue lures you in with the promise of almost unlimited martini options and keeps you there with its insanely delicious drinks. When a local recommended this place, we knew we had to check it out. Once we realized the specialty was martinis, we were totally sold. Not usually ones for dessert cocktails, the bf and I decided to forgo our usual predilections and go for something outside of the box. After reading the reviews on Yelp, we knew we needed to try the rice krispie treat martini. I mean, really, who doesn't love a gooey, marshmallow-y treat? Well, that's exactly what this drink is. The rim is dipped in fluff (or something similar), which is then covered in the classic cereal, and topped with a piece of rice krispie treat as a garnish. Heaven in a glass. We also shared the key lime pie martini, which came with a graham cracker crust rim and key lime flavored whipped cream. Slightly tart and very creamy, the combo was interesting. While good, I definitely preferred the rice krispie treat, and somewhat wished we had gone for the oatmeal creme pie, birthday cake, or Lucky Charm. Ooh, and the watermelon lemondrop looked mighty refreshing.
I could absolutely drink my way through Jen's & Friends, and, given the opportunity, I would do so hands down. Every martini on the menu looked super enticing, and if the flavors aren't enough to pique your interest, then the fact that each martini comes with a rockin' garnish (think blow pops, candy bars, fruit loops, gummie candies, caramel, etc) should be. If I actually lived in Savannah, it might be a problem, but since we were on vacay, we figured it fine to drink our calories. And boy, am I glad we did. If you're in Savannah, you HAVE to go here. Now, if only they would open one in Richmond...
The missus and I found Jen's and Friends with the Yelp App... and swung in to give it a shot.
No food here (which is why we didn't stay beyond a couple drinks), but my wife was excited to try some of their well-known martini concoctions... and the barkeep whipped up a couple fruity, chocolaty, candy-laced goodies they could giggle over together. Â In the mean time, I was happy with their randomly impressive little selection of craft brews!
Service was friendly, other customers were eager to chat with the newbies... the place even has a puppy friendly patio (complete with a bowl of dog treats left out for regular walkers by).
Note: it's very small... VERY small. Â Not a place for large groups... and probably wouldn't be my favorite scene on a Friday or Saturday night where you're sure to be elbow-to-elbow and recycling the same air. Â Apart from that, we'll certainly be back in for another drink or two!
If this place were in Raleigh, I would be here all the time and it would be my go-to spot for a girls night. If I had found out about this place sooner during our trip to Savannah, we probably would have spent both of our nights here. Any place that offers 150 different martinis, I am going to be a big fan of.
My husband and I passed this place the first night of our trip but heard about it during our second day from the show "Drinking Made Easy." That was enough for me to realize I must visit, so we headed there that night.
The spot is very small and luckily it wasn't packed when we were there and we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The bartender gave us the martini list and I didn't know where to start - I knew I was in the mood for a sweet martini including some form of chocolate - but did I want the Twix martini, the Kit-Kat martini, the 100 Grand martini, the Heath Bar martini, I didn't know how to even pick. They had a martini for every kind of candy bar you could think of, but I finally settled on the Heath Bar martini. Most of the sweet/ more unique martinis are $8 while the more basic (especially the fruity martinis), such as a mango or a grape martini, are $7.
I made a good choice. The Heath Bar martini came out with a mini Heath Bar on the side (a cute touch, I thought) and the rim of the glass had been coated with caramel and then dipped in crumbled Heath Bars. It took a lot not to ask for a spoon to scrap off the rim of the glass when I was finished! It was one of the better chocolate martinis I have had, however, it was so sweet that I was unfortunately able to only try one of their drinks. My husband got the caramel appletini, his was pretty good, but not as good as mine.
One of the coolest things about this place was how each martini came with some kind of garnish (for mine, the candy bar). For example, the Hostess martini came with half of a Hostess Cupcake.
This will be one of my first stops on any future trip to Savannah!
Super fun place! I stopped in while out one night in Savannah, and now it's a must see location when I am in town. Very unique drinks, and they offer up lots more than just martini's. Their candy bar martini's do a really good job of satisfying any sweet tooth, but my favorite is the Rice Crispy Treat Martini. Yum. I can't say enough good things about it! Everyone is friendly, and you can tell I'm not alone in this because this place is almost always packed. The location is small, but it's super cozy once you find a seat. The decor is eclectic, which I love, and a bonus is that the bathroom down the hall is nice and clean (which can be hard to find while out on the town). This is always one of our stops as we bar hop. If you dream it up, I'm sure Jen can make it into a cocktail for you!
Review Source:I can't even begin to express my love for this place. If it were a person, I'd shower it in gifts and beg it to marry me. If it were a puppy, I'd give it a diamond-encrusted collar and I would only let it drink Evian. This place is like a drunken wonderland of sugary goodness.
I spent 4 days in Savannah. I had a grand total of 14 martinis there. I think I might have diabetes now, but it's worth it. And I don't even like girly drinks! I'm usually strictly beer and whiskey, but...I mean...there's a Nutella martini. If that doesn't sound like the best thing of all time to you, then you clearly hate freedom.
If this place were in DC (where I'm from), I would be an obese alcoholic and totally content with that.
The staff here could be more friendly, but besides that they have awesome drinks. Literally any martini you can think of. Gets pretty crowded after work. They have a few tables outside. I really like this place, and would have gotten five stars if the staff would be more friendly. A must go in Savannah.
Review Source:My wife and I spent the second leg of our honeymoon in Savannah for two nights. We heard about Jen's and Friends from HDNet's "Drinking Made Easy" and decided to check it out for one single pre-dinner cocktail. Four rounds later, we stumbled (and pedaled a la Savannah Slowride) through the rest of our evening!
It really did feel like being a kid in a candy store. The martinis were unique and delicious with a menu sure to please anyone. My favorite was the Rice Krispies Treat Martini...yes, you read that correctly. The atmosphere was very inviting and friendly. It was totally unpretentious - which we, as northerners, were not used to in a martini bar. Jen herself was our bartender and she was an absolute joy to meet and talk to - she even posed for a picture with us! This place is a true southern gem and we WILL be back.
Do it. For real.
Friend and I went to try the martini's. Definitely a fun dive bar. I had the Basil martini. WOW, that cut through the summer's heat instantly. So refreshing. I sat at the bar watching Jen make all her famous drinks. Pretty creative stuff. I sipped a couple of the super sugary ones like the rice crispy treat. Definitely yummy.
No food, just drinks. Very fast. Cool atmosphere. Extensive beer list.
This place is a dive and though known for their extensive martini selection, they also have a considerable beer menu. The martinis are creative, artistic and fun. If you don't have a sense of humor, you might not enjoy all of the flavor combinations, and in that case, stick with a dirty vodka martini that bartenders all over make because you can't screw it up. If you are feeling adventurous, pretend you are a kid in a candy store, a fruity, colorful, tasty alcoholic candy store, and take your pick!
Review Source:Awesome hole in the wall located next to Jimmie Johns in the bottom of an office building (Google maps will play tricks with you when you try and find this place but if you're across the street from Jimmie Johns, it's to the right towards East Broughton).
While not a martini person, I did dabble in a few at Jen's and were wowed. Who would've ever thought a martini would come with a Blow Pop as a stirrer? Unique, fun touches for all the drinks were what really sent the delish martinis over the edge.
In terms of beer, they're no slouch there! With fun happy hour specials (sup $2 domestics), their bottle list ranges from American crafts to heavy hitting Germans and fun Belgians.
While we didn't meet Jen, we had an awesome bartender the few times we went to Jen's on our trip and she was a joy. Her suggestions and advice never steered us wrong both inside and outside of Jen's! Can't wait to come back and have another round :)
My girlfriend and I spent a few days in Savannah a few weeks ago (we were at Jen's on 04/10). Â The place is small, so get there a bit early if want a seat, as it's fairly popular. Â We were meeting two others and lucked up getting a 4-person table. Â
The bartender came over to take our order. Â My gf had a martini and I had a beer. Â They have a great beer and martini selection. Â Most of the martinis are candy-bar themed. Â We ended up having a few rounds.
I tried the Snickers, the S'mores and a few others. Â All were excellent. Â They've taken great care to make sure the drinks taste EXACTLY as you'd hope (and expect). Â The Snicker's tasted just like the candy bar and the glass was rimmed half with chocolate, half with caramel and all the way around with peanuts. Â They also take great care with the presentation.
At one point, there had to be 40 - 45 people in the little space and only two servers/bartenders...the guy that took our first order and Jen herself. Â At one point, it took a few minutes to get their attention, but I'm going to let that slide because the service was pleasant and fast the rest of the time (and we were there a couple hours). Â They were working very hard to get the drinks out quickly and they did a great job overall.
If you like martinis or beer (or both)! Â put this on your list - I don't know how you'd be disappointed! Â I know I'll return. Â This was my 5th time in Savannah and the first time I'd been to Jen's (a local told me about it)...too bad I didn't know about it on my prior trips! Â I definitely would have gone there.
A little hole in the wall bar known by locals that has good vibes and energy. Â It was recommended by the hotel desk clerk who sounded very passionate about the bar. Â So a day later we dropped by for evening happy hour. Â And who do we bump into upon entering - the hotel desk clerk! Â It's really a small bar but our party of four did find a table. Â Happy hour prices were reasonable and I had a very good Cosmopolitan. Â It was very funny that two gentlemen at the bar over heard our conversation regarding Port Townsend Washington. Â They spoke up and the six of us had a good discussion about many topics, concluding with our restaurant reservation for the night - The Olde Pink House restaurant. Â The gentlemen said it was one of the best restaurants and that we would be happy. Â We enjoyed our visit to Jen's and we were subsequently very happy with dinner which was only a block away.
Review Source:I walked in to this small bar to find the eponymous Jen serving up drinks and making friendly banter. Â The crowd was eclectic, with retirees in town to golf drinking next to restaurant employees who work down the street.
The selection of martinis (100+) is incredible. Â Jen says she "loves martinis and desserts". Â Many of the martinis have sweet ingredients and candy garnishes. Â Jen's also boasts a selection of over 100 beers to choose from.
This is a great little neighborhood bar. Â I hope to be back someday...
A quaint, little dive bar with any kind of martini your heart desires. It's creative, fun, and- I'm no martini expert- but they weren't too expensive for the quality. I tried the watermelon lemondrop and it was served with a blowpop. Haven't had one of those in years! I wanted to try every martini but then I wouldn't remember my lovely evening. Definitely want to revisit.
And guys need not fear- they get their martinis served in manly plastic cups or can select from 100 beers. Everyone wins!
100 martinis and 100 beers, totally my kind of place!!
We selected this spot because it was close to our hotel, had some great reviews and because of it's name....that's my name too!!
We were greeted by Mary Ann (my partner's name, too!) who was a super sweet lady who made us feel right at home, got us drinks when we needed them, gave us some good recommendations on our next selection and made our time here well spent.
I would love to go back on my next visit, I just hope it doesn't get too popular because it is a very small space. The maximum capacity signs says 37!!!
I went down to Savannah and went martini bar hopping. This place is the real thing!!! I ordered a strawberry lemon drop martini, and a strawberry cheesecake martini. The strawberry lemon drop was delicious! The strawberry cheesecake was good after I got over the milky texture and the soft graham cracker crust on the rim. My friend ordered a banana foster martini and a pear martini. I LOVED her banana foster! She loved the pear martini. Definitely a place to visit!!!
While neither of us ordered the snickers martini, we saw one being made. They actually put a mini snickers bar on the side of the glass!!
We researched dog-friendly places in advance of our trip and were thrilled to find Jen's and Friends. With our 2 mini-Schnauzers in tow we enjoyed a lovely pre-dinner cocktail and chatted with locals that gave us many tips for our weekend in town. I don't like sweet drinks so I asked my husband to get me "something I like" and he brought back a savory basil-lime martini... yum! Oh, and the dog treats in the bowl at the front door are a nice touch!
Review Source:One word.... Beer-tini!
Dear husband and I were looking for a place to get a cocktail, and we heard good things about this place so we decided to give out a shot.
Now my man is a very manly man. He doesn't do flavored martinis or fruity girly drinks. But he loves me...alot lol. We didn't know if he would be able to find something there or not, but the bartender totally took care of us.
I had a blue raspberry fruity sugary slice of alcoholic heaven (a couple in fact, which is why I can't remember the name!). And for my husband, the bartender made him  the Beer-tini! A punchbowl sized martini glass full up of pabst blue.
My husband was a happy camper. I was slowly on my way to a coma. The bartender was chatty and friendly all night. The place was hoppin but not packed. Good music, good (dim but not dark) lighting, cute decor.
I can see how this would be more of a chick place, but that's actually good for the guys right? And they have something for even the pickiest of drinkers (like my darling hubby ;)
I went here with my girlfriend and I wish I hadn't. If you don't want a martini that is flavored like candy, there isn't much for you. The place was very crowded and the bartender did not seem very interested in helping anyone. She seemed more intent on gossiping with her friends who were at the bar. why go here when you can go... well, anywhere else.
Review Source:Perhaps I just didn't get it.
100 different Martinis....Bubble Gum? Really?!
It was stuffy (air wise), packed, no personality, & very very small. Also, there was "stuff" everywhere, on everything, crowded & stodgy.
Service was OK too. I had a Basil, lemon & vodka cocktail- too much simple syrup.
So many other places in Savannah I would rather spend my time.
If you are a girl who likes to experiment with your martinis, Jens and Friends is the bar for you. I am just not that girl.... the crowd at Jen's in Friends is mostly that kind of girl (and their spouses/significant others).
This bar does what they aim to do quite well. You can get a dirty martini or a lemon drop martini... or you can get a snickers martini, a peanut butter and jelly martini, or a bananas foster martini. Â If this sounds exciting to you, go there. I think their martini list has over 100 choices. Many of them come with whip cream, sprinkles, fruit, candy bars, and lollipops.
I am not all that adventurous in my drinking and I am not looking for dessert heaven in a martini glass. When I go, I order a beer or a sapphire and tonic. They do these things just fine. Service is quick, friendly, and fun.
Their happy hour prices are excellent.
Note: There is a 10 dollar credit card minimum.
"Enter as Strangers, Leave as Friends"
What a great motto! Not only does Jen have this on her business card, she has a plaque hanging on the back wall of her bar.
Thanks to the friendly couple (Barb & Pete from Boston) that I conversed with at dinner on my first night in Savannah, I had the pleasure of trying the White Elephant at Jen's and Friends. Who needs peach cobbler when you can drink your dessert away with caramel and sugar rimmed glasses filled with utterly smooth deliciousness topped with a kiss of whipped cream?
I think I could have a lot more friends if I knew how to make that drink!
Home of over 100 different flavors of martini's with some of the best garnishes you've ever seen (we're talking premium eye candy here!). Â Don't be surprised when you order an Almond Joy and it comes draped in chocolate with a mini Almond Joy on the rim!!!
A few to try: Dirty, Carmel Apple, Almond Joy, Espresso, and the Rainbow. Â
They also serve really great sandwiches!!
