The Six Pence is okay...  Great bartenders and wait staff.  The food is adequate -- I've never had an amazing, yum, yum, yum meal there, but I like the location, and the food isn't bad.  If you are in town and want an  "okay" meal, with really helpful servers (ask about places to visit, etc.) the Six Pence is fine.  But if you want to hit a real pub with excellent food, I highly recommend McDonoughs (a block away, not fancy or very decorative, but has consistently good food) or Kevin Barry's on River Street (its a bar, but their bangers & mash and irish beef stew are amazing!).  Good luck -- most of the food in Savannah is A+ and the folks are crazy friendly and helpful!  :)
Review Source:We stopped in after hearing that Julia Roberts filmed a scene from Look Who's Talking there. Â The movie wasn't playing, but we settled for the food instead. Â The cozy and small pub/restaurant is welcoming and clean. Â We settled for something small to eat since we were going to have dinner in a couple hours and didn't want to blow it. Â My husband got the soup and sandwich combo, which was a turkey with tomato bisque soup. Â I had a couple sips of his soup and it was so good. Â The loaded banger I had screamed comfort all over it. Â It consisted of two small bratwursts topped with mashed potatoes, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Â Yum-o!
Review Source:We went there for the first time a month ago. Â The place is in a neat tourist area in Savannah and is a tourist restaurant. Â We had to wait a short time for our lunch table but that was OK. Â The beer/ale list is a good one and the wines are good. Â We were going to order Shepherds Pie but the table next to us ordered it and the portion looked pretty small so I opted for roast beef which was good and my companion had bangers and mash which were good. Â Service was negligent.
