Not sure how I got here. Â The Biker Mice from mars where seated right next to me drilling me asking me where I was from. Hoboken, people in Hoboken do not dress like that! Â Ohh ok, then I am from Newark. Â He was satisfied with this answer. Â Fortunate for me I was literally in a taping of Sons of Anarchy. Â The guy next to me tried to keep his conciseness, leaning side to side. The bartender asked me what I wanted. Â Coors light, I guess $4.00 as some other places in Jersey City. Â I felt as that was too expensive!
There was a couple playing darts, under the dart table was leather couches. Hate to sit there as they widely threw darts, think Burr-Hamilton duel. Wait a minute that happened in Weehawken this N. Bergen.
I asked for a Jameson neat. Â Bartender said "Jameson shot." no. I want it neat. Â What was cool she asked me if I wanted more, with a strange grin she poured more. If I had I known I was making a deal with the devil. I would have passed. Â She obviously doesn't get this request too much; she then went to some sort of "drink map legend" above the register. Â I assume this "Legend" said charge this Meffer as much as you can. Â 10.00 Please. Damn felt like I was in the Meatpacking somewhere. Â
Bright side, at the juke box was some pretty ladies playing "three doors down" then transcending to Tupac music that was a nice mix. Also there are concerts here; DJ with dancing some nights and a pool table. Â This Biker dive bar s stays open till 3am... Â Don't get the Jameson "neat" here!
If there was ever a necessity to make a model for a design of a "dive bar," this would be the bar used for the mold. It is your typical dive bar complete with pool table and dart board and a stripper pole. (You read that correctly!) In it's heyday, it was predominantly considered a biker bar thus branding it with a bad reputation. However, in recent days, it's your typical neighborhood bar. A decent place to watch a game or hear some tunes on the limited yet modern MyTouchTunes jukebox.
On weekends, the back room hosts live music from local rock bands and dance nights with a DJ. Mixed drink specials galore on these evenings.
Perhaps one of the best kept secrets of this bar is that it has it's own outdoor "Tiki Bar" at the rear of the building that doubles as the bar's smoking section and hookah bar. It's perfect for those avid drinkers who don't wish to put their beer bottles down whilst having a cigarette. This is one of very few bars in Jersey that has it's own outdoor smoking area. It's a testament to the adaptability of the bar itself.
It's downside is that it's CASH ONLY which is why it only gets 4 stars. It's not a problem to find an ATM nearby and it has it's own ATM machine complete with a ridiculous surcharge for withdrawing money but, in this day and age, people very rarely carry cash so it's a nuisance. It also has a limited tap selection but makes up for it by being able to serve alcohol on or off premise. (read: You can take some to go.)
All in all, a good place to meet up with friends for a few, pregame it before hitting another bar or even coming back to for nightcaps after coming back from another bar or club.
