II have been a customer for 15 years. I use to visit the liquor store on the corner,it has since closed. I would say to myself, I would not be caught dead in that place. How wrong I was, this is a intense drinkers bar, that has many fun patrons. You meet people from all walks of life and will seldom see a problem. When the right customers are in it is hard to leave. The ownership is well respected and has a flair for creative fun. The bartenders are hot and nice. The only down side is some of the guys beg the bartenders so hard for attention,it can be pathetic, saying things like, how hot they are, sexual inundates flourish; these guys bring gifts and are desperate for a smile, a wink or a hug. Thank God I am not one.
Ask for Bruce, Guy or Big John, they will make you feel welcome.
Once the guys read how I documented their begging, I may not be part of the in crowd. Oh well, it is a fun time

I smooshed my face against the window to try to get a better idea of what this place was, as the only thing to indicate they served beer (which I was in search of) was an Old Style sign hanging above.  Instantly someone was  waving at me from inside, calling out "don't just look in, cooomee ooonnn innn!"

    How could I resist.

We joined the regulars at this neighborhood dive bar and were welcomed like old friends.  They were a chatty, good-natured crowd of men who even tried to buy us a 2nd pitcher when it was time to go.  (I politely declined, a girl can only have so many pitchers on a Tuesday... even when they are $8.50 pitchers of Goose Island Summertime).

The bar itself is small and dark (even with the sun blazing outside) with a horseshoe shaped bar in the center.  The layout encourages a group dynamic, as the regulars all sit around the bar, calling out to eachother across the room.  There's an electric dartboard and a jukebox stationed on one wall, only playing when someone is inspired enough to go select something.  Peanuts and pretzels are offered as snacks, which everyone knows I can't resist.  This is the sort of place you can't complain about there being hand sanitizer instead of soap in the bathroom (because there was, but I'm only telling you).

Overall, this is the sort of place I like.  Not the fanciest place by any means, but a friendly neighborhood crowd that makes you forget you're in a big city.

The best & only bar left on North Ave. from Austin to the Chgo city limits! Should be named "Club International " for the variety races, colors, & creeds. The true neighborhood bar. Patrons include doctors, lawyers, cops, teachers & the everyday working stiff?? Has the most beautiful mixologists in Galewood! Must checkout Beata, Lil Maria, Monica & Yolanta!! The drinks are a little pricey, but keeps out the bums and bar flys! Visa & MasterCard accepted. I love Thursday's, LADIES NIGHT !!!!!
