This was our first time to visit The Keg, and we were satisfied the whole way around. Â Our steaks were cooked perfectly, the sides were wonderful, and we were even given a free dessert because it was our first visit. Â You really get a lot for your money. Â Most nicer steak houses do not throw in a salad, veggie, and a side with your steak. Â They do, and are very reasonably priced for what you get. Â
The hostesses were all very polite and quick to greet us, our server Cornelio was AWESOME! Â He recommended a great wine, was extremely warm and friendly the entire time, and always made sure we were taken care of. Â He was always smiling and just genuinely friendly. Â This was some of the best service we have ever had over all. Â From the hostesses, to the server, the bus boys, and the manager that came by to make sure everything was perfect. Â They really have customer service down. Â
We will definitely be returning to The Keg in Ft Worth, as well as tell our friends about it.
While it's location leaves a bit to be desired (parking lot / strip mall adjoining a Home Depot), the Keg is a great choice when you're in the mood for an excellent steak at a reasonable price. Â I'm all for a night at Morton's when you're on an expense account, but I go to the Keg when it's on my own dime.
I highly recommend the Baseball steak, paired with the twice baked potato (which comes with it, no a la carte nonsense here). Â The side salads are sizeable and tasty, and come in around $6 or $7, again pretty reasonable. Â
They have a good kids menu that includes mini burgers, steak ($16, but it's a real steak and comes with a side), chix fingers, etc.
We came in as a family of four and had a great meal for $95, excluding alcohol. Â Our waiter was a gem as well, a very nice guy who also works as a 5th grade teacher. Â
We'll be back!
All my life I have never liked steak. Â Until I came to the Keg. Â I got the filet mignon (which I've had before at other restaurants) and it was the best steak I've ever had in my life. Â I highly recommend. Â The service is fantastic. Â The first time we were there they gave us free dessert and welcomed us with open arms. Â Love the ambiance too.
Review Source:I find it difficult to give chain restaurants high reviews....thats because I am admittably a restaurant snob and have dined at some, one of a kind, truely amazing restaurants world wide. Â With that said, I will put the Keg in it's category of similar type restaurants and judge accordingly. Â
Surprisingly phenominal service and food. Â I was there for a family birthday dinner...lots of people all talking at once, kids that need to be fed and entertained, drinks, we showed up late so a extra table needed to be added....we threw it all at the waiter and he handled it all with grace and patience. Â I was so surprised that he could satisfy the needs of everyone so quickly that no one was really annoyed....you know how it gets at family dinners...someone is always complaining...but no complaints this night. Â
The food....again surprisingly good. Â i had prime rib and it was actually cooked rare like I ordered it. Â I hate an over cooked piece of meat. Â
There was a warm fire burning in the background and a couple having a romantic dinner, well as best they could with a table of 15 mexicans enjoying each others company. Â
It was an amazing time. Â
The only draw back is the restaurant is kinda difficult to get to and hard to see. Â Just know that in advance and you shouldn't have a problem. Â Plenty of free parking (I'm from Dallas). Â The prices are reasonable for a nice night on the town.
The food was to die for! We had the baked goat cheese which comes with the best bruschetta on the planet. I drank a blackberry martini and it was sweet and not super alcoholic, which is good for me. The food was very good all around.
My only gripe is that the staff acts like they work in a super fancy place, when in reality, they are playing Maroon 5 and Justin Timberlake, which is weird for the atmosphere.
We came in at 6 PM on a Friday night with no reservation and were seated promptly.
The price was reasonable. They are a mid-tier steakhouse that attempt to provide the service of a top-tier. The atmosphere is nice, very dimly lit. The sides are not big enough to share, which is fine - but they should inform you prior to ordering. Most steak houses do their sides family style. Also, their wine list was lacking.
The food was good, I had the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great.
For about $100 with appetizers, entrees, and dessert, I would say reasonably priced. Definitely better than a national chain like Outback, but not in the same league of a Del Frisco's or Pappas.
Bottom line - I would go back.
I can never say how much I love this place. Went and redeemed my points for a free entree. I usually feel awkward using the free stuff but my waitress never made it a big deal. I was treated just as if I was paying full price. Had the house merlot and a filet. Perfectly cooked. My dinner guests were foreigners and were not too sure on what to order. One had the Prime Rib and said it was excellent. Can not remember what the other had but he did like his as well. We were there on a Saturday night and it was not too crowded. A+ to them for the great service received! This was just as good as the last time I was there.
Review Source:Wine is great...Service is excellent ask for Brian...at the Bar. Â Shrimp Cocktail...a okay...I would get it again. Â Prime Rib...I like me some horseradish and it was as rare as they allow...good eats. Â The mashed taters...yikes...they were super gummy...way over cooked as far as I am concerned. Â Escargot I was told was decent as was the bacon wrapped scallops. Â However....The people in here dining look like they should be dining at chili's...some sort of dress code should be enforced...I am embarrased for them. Â Seems like they are wanting this to be upscale but cannot lock it in, I am guessing the cliental. Â The location is sort of hidden in a parking lot and the access is not easy. Â Other locations seem way classier and have a nicer cliental. Â I did have a problem with the restrooms, horribly filthy. Â I have enjoyed other Keg locations, hope this one matches those soon. Â I did appreciate the no smoking aspect.
Review Source:Found this using Yelp while traveling on business. The reviews were correct. This was a great place to go. Kind of more upscale than the name implies, and the food was great. Had a wedge salad, the blue cheese dressing was among the best i have had. The waiter told me that they specialized in the prime rib so i took him up on his offer. The prime rib was great, came out just as i had ordered, very happy with it. The horseradish sauce was a great accompaniment. Fries were good. Also ordered the asparagus which was done nicely, with just a little crisp.
Very happy with this find and will definitely go again when i'm back in the area.
Well I read the reviews on here and took the wife for our anniversary. Â I knew it was a chain going in, but it's still really nice. Â Had some nice beer on tap Sierra Nevada I think, plus they have Keg size which is like 23 ounces awesome. Â Appetizer of scallops with bacon was the only knock against this place they were pretty tiny but for 9 bucks what do you expect. Â Wife had filet and 1/2 lobster, which I didn't think I liked lobster but this was great and huge. Â I think that was like 32 buck and I had a 20 ounce bone in ribeye great but I should have ordered it medium. Â I pushed through though lol. Â Then they gave us a champagne toast with the best ice cream pie that they make there for free for our anniversary. Â Very nice touch. Â For the price and food that you get, you would be hard pressed to find it and if you do let me know and I will eat there too ha. Â I will definitely go here again though.
Review Source:great courteous waiters/waitresses serving you in a nice dim lighted clean posh atmosphere. had 3 appetizers, the shrimp escargo was nicely done.. pale succulent little shrimps floating in butter sauce.. i scooped off the hunk of congealed cheese on top and did without it. had also their goat cheese app, pretty much a round patted down round of goat cheese mixed with possibly bacon and some herbs.. thought this was pretty typical as far as goat cheese flavor goes, nothing mind blowing on this one you might want to pass on that. also had a chip and dip appetizer with some type of southwesterny corn and cheesy white sauce concoction, was a hit with my coworker who lapped the whole bowl up. tried their ceaser salad.. it was a fairly large platter.. tasted like a typical ceaser, i didnt find the dressing that spectacular. didn't have that extra flavorful zing that makes a salad stand out. honestly think the ones at la madeline taste better. for entree i got their ny strip steak, supposed to be cooked to medium rare.. which i believe was accidentally given to my coworker cus mine came out closer to medium well and his came out the way i liked but he had ordered medium. as far as the steaks i found them pretty flavorful.. had a slight crust to the top. on the steak i got their oscar "asparagus, scallop, shrimp" cream sauce topping which came out a little overly salty..might want to ask that on the side just in case. for the side i got the twice baked potato which was as smooth creamy and delicious as a potato should be. as for dessert, i tried their cheesecake.. which tasted like it had sour cream in it. its also alot softer and a little more sour and a little smaller in size than im accustomed to. also had a bite of their miner pie, which is really like a chocolate mousse-y icecream cake with a oreo cookie bottom or something similar...thought that was pretty tasty.. even though im not a huge fan of chocolate icecream. probably would be the better choice of the two if you had to decide. overall a decent experience with professional service.. but i also didnt pay for any of this it was sponsored by a company.. which made the food that much tastier in some sense. i would say this steak restaurant is a step classier than your local salt grass steakhouse, but not on par with del friscos or 3 forks.
Review Source:With a name like The Keg we never considered eating here until I read reviews that it's a nicer steakhouse, so we tried it (we thought it was a sports bar from the name).
Overall very satisfied with our dinner. Â We had two steak entrees and one crab legs entree. Â Steaks were tender and tasty; crab legs were a nice size portion and also tasty and fresh. Â We tried the tempura veggies for an appetizer and that was good too. Â Decent wine selection.
Service - our server tried very hard to make sure everything went well. Â He was a bit over the top, but okay. Â The manager also came by our table to make sure everything was going well, and that was an added bonus since this happens so rarely in restaurants. Â
Price point is comparable to other mid-class restaurants. Â Our steaks were around $30 but included salad and sides.
The Keg Steakhosue & Bar almost had me fooled. It had all the touches of a fine dining establishment but everything was just a little bit off. I left feeling like I went to Outback 2.0.
We had the baked garlic shrimp appetizer. It was presented like escargot, each shrimp in it's own little buttery garlic tub then covered with cheddar and jack cheese. I thought the cheese overkill and the shrimp tasted slightly dirty.
We both had the bone-in ribeye for dinner. It's a huge 20 ounces and they were perfectly cooked. It tasted good and was one of the better steaks I've had in Fort Worth. The side of mushrooms had a strong wine taste which I didn't like at first. They tasted better the next day actually. The twiced baked potato just tasted like a loaded baked potato you could get anywhere. It was good but not memorable.
My ginger lemonade cocktail was cloyingly sweet. I had to water it down at the table. We were pretty stuffed so we didn't get dessert. While the steak was good, I can't see myself coming back here.
Husband and I went here for a dinner with coworkers. It feels like a chain restaurant, but a very nice one. The restaurant is pretty. And it is huge inside, so a wait shouldn't be much of a problem. Plenty of free parking.
We each had salads and steaks, and we did try the twice baked potato. It was all good but not memorable. A decent meal at a decent price. You get what you pay for.
Our waiter was a total cornball talking to us like we were his fraternity brothers. And he would disappear for extended periods of time. Service was a major fail!
If you really want an amazing steak experience, go to Lonesome Dove. But this place is definitely good for a weeknight dinner, a slight step up from Outback.
Went on a date here when I was in High School. Not sure why; I had never been before nor even heard if it was good or not. I liked it though, got a big steak. My date got some salad or some other crap. Reasonable prices good service.
Tried to order wine for the two of us. I thought the waiter would be cool with it because he was a young guy. But he wouldn't serve us. I was like 17 at the time. Totally understandable but a little embarrassing for me. I tipped him well anyway.
Awkward date but I got to 2nd base that night in the parking lot. I haven't heard from that girl in a while. I wonder if she remembers that date. We kinda parted ways when we went to college. I hear she's doing well. Just looked her up on facebook. Jeez, she looks great. Maybe I should give her a call. That'd be weird, way too out of the blue. I think I may have ended up being a jerk to her anyhow.
Bone-in ribeye was absolutely perfect. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Twice baked potato was great along with the mushrooms. Onion strings were a touch on the thin side resulting in not getting enough onion flavor for my taste. Minor imperfection in the side didn't hurt the meal at all. Great atmosphere in the lounge with enough TVs, fireplace, comfortable seating. Wait staff was excellent and very attentive.
Review Source:This is it, the holy grail of steak joints. Â I'm usually not one that subscribes to the belief that you have to go to an expensive restaurant to get an out of this world steak and The Keg Steakhouse is definitely going to put a small dent in your dinner budget but my lord is it worth it.
Our waiter was one of the best I've had in recent memory. Â He was extremely knowledgeable and quick to answer all of our questions and arguably most importantly, he never allowed our drinks to empty. Â
Our waiter convinced me to have the prime rib stating that is is what they're known for and for good measure I decided to throw the lobster tail on there as well and I picked the twice baked potato for my side. Â My friends both settled on the steaks, one standing out in particular, the 18 oz. Kansas City strip cooked "Chicago" style. (I also ordered the bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer but they're not really worth writing about. Â They're good but nothing special in my opinion.)
Our food hit the table and the first thing I noticed about my prime rib was the beautiful pink coloring all the way through, it was a thing of beauty. Â As soon as I cut into it I could see the juice poor out on to my plate and it honestly was some of the best prime rib I've ever had. Â I tried the "red wine herb au ju" that is served with it and while it did compliment the prime rib quite well but I'm kind of a meat purist and don't feel the need for sauces on well prepared meat. Â The lobster was tasty, way better than anything you'd get in a chain like red lobster and to mine and my friend's surprise, the lobster tail was much bigger than expected. Â Usually when you get a surf and turf meal the lobster tail is just a little thing to make you want more lobster tail but they definitely dish out the right portion sizes here.
Now I feel odd for writing about this but I think the meals my friends got were way better than mine. Â I asked for a piece of the monster 18 oz steak my friend got (cooked medium-rare, the way a steak should be) and immediately regretted not getting it myself. Â The Chicago style of cooking completely chars the outside of the steak leaving a nice crust of flavor but the inside is still cooked perfectly, it's utterly amazing and dare I say, one of the top 5 steaks I've ever had. Â In fact it was so good I had steal pieces from their plate and offer up my prime rib as a substitute. Â
So in conclusion, if you're in the mood for a great piece of meat in a nice environment (great for groups) then check out The Keg Steakhouse. Â Don't be fooled into thinking this is just an overpriced Outback Steakhouse because it is leaps and bounds above it. Â While the prices can be daunting for the unwary it is well worth the money spent. Â That being said, if you find yourself wondering whether to pony up the extra cash for say, the mushrooms neptune appetizer or nice lobster tail companion to your steak just remember, if you're gonna be a cat, be a tiger.
The both of us being in the service industry, it was unlikely that we could actually have Valentine's Day off together, so instead, we made it out this past Thursday to this location- something we've been waiting to do for quite some time. Â We were very rewarded for our patience.
Jillian was our server and when we were seated, she approached and inquired as to whether we had ever dined with them before. Â Upon learning that this was our first dining experience, she was kind enough to discuss how the menu is set up, options for accompaniments, and price fixe menu options. Â We settled upon some 9oz Keg Size (Tm) glasses of wine for a price that is quite difficult to match in area restaurants. Â Jillian delivered our wines, was kind enough to answer a question of two more for us, and then took our order.
Our salads arrived, along with a loaf of flavorful house bread, and in the meanwhile, we took in the scenery. Â The restaurant has multiple fireplaces (one of which I chose a seat far too near to be comfortable at some points), hardwoods, and muted linens and colors against those woods to create a warming contrast. Â The tables are all nice woods and solid... accompanied by antler chandeliers, it gives this feeling of a higher end huntsmen's lodge.
Dinner arrive and as far as my entree was concerned, not too bad. Â I had the Classic Keg Combination of a 7 oz Filet Mignon and King Crab legs with a twice baked potato. Â The potato couldn't be done more perfectly... Lots of flavor, beautiful texture, and a nice accompaniment to my steak and crab. Â The king crab was nicely pre-cut as far as the shell was concerned towards being able to crack and open the shell to yield their precious, luscious meat. Â I can't speculate as to how it was cooked, but I was almost wager upon boiled? Â The texture was dead on, but the flavor was a little muted compared to all of the other king crab that I've ever had. Â Still though, 7oz filet with king crab for $38 is a steal. Â The steak was a true filet mignon... what does that mean? Â It means that it is wrapped in bacon. Â Can't even begin to tell you how many times I've seen filet mignon listed and its not wrapped in bacon and yet they pull it over on the guests time and time again. Â My filet was a little overcooked, but only to medium rare when I was shooting for rare. Â This always bothers me that people can overcook rare... I mean, just flash sear it and send it to me and I'm good. Â Still yet, i won't complain on medium rare, as that's totally doable. Â
Dessert time- I'm not the typical dessert guy. Â To me, cake and key lime pie is great, but there's nothing like a great glass of scotch. Â Seeing the dessert and scotch list, it was easy to settle upon a glass of Lagavulin 16 yr. Â In ordering this, and having ordered it other places, I would expect somewhere in the neighborhood or $16-$22 for this glass... OMG, are you serious?! When the bill arrived, it was only $8.95 for the glass!!!!! I might be stopping in after tough days of work just for the occasional glass of Lagavulin. Â I mean, when Dewar's is only $1 less, I don't know how in the world they can offer it at that price, but I'm totally okay with it.
In the end, we were very happy with our experience, and living so close by, especially when I know their Scotch prices now and know that people like Jillian will be there to make for an enjoyable experience, its definitely a place that I can see us enjoying again in the future. Â Many thanks for a great experience, just maybe turn down that fireplace a notch or two!
Went here for our anniversary. We were greeted by the ladies at the front and upon knowing it was our anniversary, greeted us and offered a complimentary dessert. The place was nice and classy. I ordered their special steak with seafood. It was good but my sirloin was a bit too tough for me I should have done it medium rare. It was okay.appetizer was lime a fondue with lobster bits served on a plate with an inch deep holes which was filled with the appetizer. Five 1 inch deep holes total , in short you don't get much. My husbands rib steak was tender and goooood!for sides we both loved the double baked potato. We did get our dessert and the waiter was so nice to serve our daughter with carrot, celery and oranges arranged in a plate with out our asking.overall it was worth it . I would go back when I crave for steak.
Review Source:We were regular customers at the various Ft. Worth Keg locations back in the 70's and 80's, so we were glad to see them open a restaurant here again.
Our first visit to the "new" Keg turned out to be an outstanding dining experience. The service was efficient and unpretentious, and the escargot stuffed mushrooms appetizer was every bit as good as it was back in the 70's. My bone in ribeye was tender, and a perfectly cooked med-rare - every bit as tasty as any steak I've had at Del-Frisco's. (and about 30-35% cheaper - 20 oz./rib-eye is $29.95, served with frizzeled onions and sauteed mushrooms) I'll definitely be returning to this place soon.
Went here with a large group (12) and they were up for the challenge. We were all drinking water, cokes, and alcohol and I dont think our drinks reached half-cup before getting another one. Amazing service. Whats more? The food is magnificent! I had the three different kinds of wines, a bone in ribeye, and the brownie sundae, it was all perfect.
My only complaint is everything was so good that I forced myself to eat so much because I couldnt bare to leave any or tarnish the meal by re-heating it at home...
Thanks The Keg!!
Pricey steakhouse but really great food. I had the filet with a baked potato and salad. It was all cooked really perfect, medium rare if you must know. We had some good wine (the house pinot) and enjoyed the brownie sundae for dessert. We also had great customer service. My only complaints were the high prices and dimly lit eating area.
Review Source:There aren't words for how delicious this place is! Everything here is wonderful. The service is impeccable, the drinks are nice and strong, and everything in the menu is absolutely delicious! They have perfected steaming a lobster and cooking steak to the exact done-ness that you request. The spinach salad is mind-blowing and the tempura snap peas and asparagus are a must every time! The Keg is my FAVORITE steak house!
Review Source:Oh Keg, how you do me right. Mmmmhmmm.
Not only are your male servers very yummy to look at *cough* Eric *cough*, but the service is outstanding. They are so nice. The food is delicious and totally taste homemade...meaning fresh.
We were there for a large party and were served an assortment of goodies. First we were brought Asian (I think) beef & chicken satay skewers followed by lightly battered (not holy fried) calamari with this amazing spicy ginger garlic sauce. THEN they brought out this cheese dip. Lemme explain something to you....this dip. Is. Ridiculous. After we told our server how amazing it was he goes "people have actually asked me for this recipe before." Ha! You wish a restaurant could give you their recipe. I could probably attempt to make it at home, but I'm not going too. It was made with smoked chicken, 4 diff cheeses, chilies, black beans and bell peppers with crispy chips. Â Maybe they should start putting it out as a complimentary dish...like Mexican restaurants do with chips and salsa...its a dream right? For our final dish, he brought out mini roast beef au jus sammies. FANTASTIC!!!!!
There was so much food on our table and we had ordered about 4 bottles of wine. No ones wine glass or water glass went empty. I mean we told him to keep 'em full. And by goodness he did. Eric Rocks.
I've always been a fan of the Keg. The food and service are great. Most places like this are completely overrated and just shi-shi. But I'm sorry, I like this place and if I were 10 years younger, I'd make a play for a waiter...or three.
You go Keg...Cook on!
I've been to this one and the one in arlington highlands...
food is great! I love their escargo (snails)! its my favorite appetizer there! Not a lot of places offer snails on their menu because of how picky Americans are...We only eat the food that we are familiar with. I love that they have the chicago meat option where it's like charr on the outside because I love burnt food! This has got to be one of my favorite steakhouses! and also their twice baked potatoes is to DIE FOR!!!!! service is always great! I've never had any problems! I think this is one of the nicer restaurants but I've seen people who showed up in rags before so iono...
and also, I love their raspberry mojito and the mango margarita, too! hahah
I expect all the guys I date to take me here! All I want is to be spoil with food...dont care much about clothes or going out...just really good food is fine!
I went to The Keg tonight and found it to be absolutely fabulous! Â
Seriously.
Some of the best carnivore activity I've had in a long while. Â It's a typical super nice steakhouse. Â We came as a large and unwieldy group and the staff handled us with ease and grace to spare. Â While I might not make this an every week dining experience, it certainly ranks for the special occasion class of place that I keep under my belt. Â The prime rib was sheer perfection. Â The sides and salads were huge. Â The prices were not out of line for this kind of place and the treatment we got. Â I can't recommend this place enough and doubly can't believe that I'm the first reviewer.
