I have been hearing for a while that the KSR had the best wings in Indy, and as it is very close to my home, I had to test that claim. Â
Having tried them, I have to say, "Yes, they do seem to be the best wings in town". Â I ordered standard hot wings for my first try. Â They many different flavors though. Â
The wings were the correct size (not "mutant" wings, y'know, the ones that are so big they look like they came from a buzzard) and were fried perfectly. Â The hot sauce was the correct amount of hot, and the blue cheese was top-notch. Â
The KSR isn't the highest class joint in town, far from it. Â It is clean and the staff is friendly. Â I have to say, I am glad they don't have smoking, although it really is the perfect place to smoke and drink. Â
Finally, the prices were great. Â Less expensive then a place like BW3's and better tasting wings.
I will definitely be returning to the KSR for more wings. Â I also hear they have great pizza, which I will be trying soon.
I love a good dive bar, but this place isn't a dive bar, it's just plain dirty.
"best wings in Indianapolis" are just your normal frozen wings from Sysco covered in Frank's wing sauce. you can get the exact same wings across the street at the mousetrap.
Their hot garlic is the same sauce with chopped garlic from a jar. Their teryaki was from a bottle, and just pure sugar.
Their blue cheese and ranch were good.
The fries were soggy -even after we sent them back the first time. The drinks were fine, but were served in plastic glasses that look like surplus Azar's cups from the 80's.
The bathrooms were absolutely appalling, the flooring was coming up, the ceiling was falling in, and there was exposed wiring.
This place just isn't worth it when there are plenty of nicer bars, with better food all around.
If you want some good, hand breaded wings try out the pawnshop pub, or head up the road to Sahm's.
