$50 all you can eat king crab legs. Not a bad deal but the service was not good. I never got rolls on the table. The sides the guy brought out after the meal was almost over saying they were making more. Frozen corn on the cob, and some not so tasty red potatoes. Also comes with salad or soup. The Cesar has chopped up lettuce croutons from a box and Cesar salad dressing from a bottle they did not even mix in with the salad.
Review Source:Do not buy a groupon for this place and do not go. I bought a couple groupons for a couples massage and a meal for a $130 value which allowed you to get whatever you wanted. 2 months after I bought it I received an email from groupon saying that they changed the groupon and now it was only for a fixed menu which was worth half of the stated value with almost no choices. I went and thought both the massage and food was mediocre. The restaurant was cheesy. The service was poor. They survive by ripping off tourists staying at the hotel. I will not step foot into this restaurant again and nor should you.
Review Source:I went into this place for an event that I rsvp'ed for. It was supposedly free drinks until 11 and free dinner for rsvp'ed people. I had been emailing Kitchen 305 with the details two weeks ago and kept in contact until that day. My three friends and I rolled up into the parking lot around 10pm, fairly early. I went to the hostess (who seemed stressed out) and told her about my reservation. She said that she'd call us over soon. The place was packed because they had Kikimora there. The creatures were super cool, so I didn't mind waiting... but after an hour and a half I had enough. I went to the hostess and asked if the table was ready yet. She snarkilly told me that there were still many other groups ahead of mine. How is this possible with the rsvp? I remained polite and continued watching the kikimora creatures, but by this time, the free drink period was over and I was getting bored. After waiting another half hour I asked again. She said they were going to run out of free dinners in 2 minutes. I could not believe that. We just left and ate at a place across the road.
DO NOT ADVERTISE RSVP EVENTS IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON REDEEMING THEM.
Thanks to this terrible treatment I will not be going back.
This evening my group of 8 had the extreme pleasure of dining here, with 6 of us having the $38. all you can eat Wednesday  lobster special.  Our expectations were greatly exceeded!  The lobsterstasted  excellent and they truly came out one after another without our ever even having to ask for more.  And there was no manager trying to shove loaves of French breads or rolls down our throats to try to fill us up to limit lobster consumption.  :)  The lobsters were fresh and delicious, and they were trulyunlimited When they say "all you can eat lobster",, believe me--- this is no misrepresentation at all.
This was by far  the best lobsterfest/meal I have ever had in my life. The special also came with a delicious Caesar salad  or seafood chowder. We also enjoyed a very reasonably priced excellent Israeli cab/syrah wine blend.
The service was nothing short of excellent, and our  server,  Paul,  was stellar.  Certainly no complaint about an 18% gratuity add-on.--- well-deserved.
This is one of the best restaurant values I have ever enjoyed.Everything---,food,service, and ambiance, was excellent and we will definitely return soon and become regulars at Kitchen 305

Sushi class on Living Social... was very cool. It was a different experience and I would recommend the Monday night Sushi class. However, I would personally not go back to the restaurant. The atmosphere was not lively. But the service was great and the chef who taught our class (Chris, I think?) was awesome! He was funny and did a great job explaining everything. One thing I thought we would have gotten to do was make our own sushi though. I was a little disappointed about that. But overall, the Sushi class/Living Social event was really fun.
Review Source:Came by for a quick bite and had a few mishaps. I won't say what they were being that the manager was quick to rectify the situation. Great save!!
That night they were having some sort of fashion show so that was entertaining. I only ordered the fish tacos and they were tasty. I heard they have a lobster night so I may have to check it out Atleast once. Lol
Saw a groupon for this restaurant after i had sampled it at Iron Fork and decided to get it. Â Wow im so happy i did. Â The restaurant is really nice and the bar area is really modern looking. Â The staff is really friendly and know the menu really well. Â We asked them for their favorite plates and we had both of them delicious, Â We actually started with the french onion soup which was amazing but a little too salty for my taste then we I had the short rib Bolagnese and my husband had the linguini carbonara EXCELLENT. Â The plates are well very portioned that we actually both had left overs. Cant wait to come here again.
Review Source:Management suck, table reservation is a joke - they take reservation but you still have to wait 1hr to get seated, maybe. Food - its lobster it can be bad, but come on how much can you stuff inside yourself before you over eat. There is plenty better places to eat, this place is just not worth it.
Review Source:Simply the best food, best staff, best management (shout out to Jonathan & Saul), the hottest women, best band..........
What else can i say......................
Wednesday nights, all you can eat Maine Lobster (try to be my record of 24)
Debbie Taylor band is awesome on Wednesday nights
and no, they didn't pay me to write this A rating review
The service: I only gave this place a star because the laughs I had here with my cousins made it that. However, from the moment we arrived (around 10pm), the hostess seemed unenthusiastic about have 3 patrons come in. She gave us the option as to where we wanted to sit and basically shoved the menus in our faces.
The food: Be careful with the stale dinner rolls they serve! Super hard to bite. For dinner, I ordered Calabresa flatbread that would've been great, had they kept it in the oven longer. My cousin ordered the mussels which the waiter slammed a cheap bamboo bowl next to for the shells. Overall, the food and ambience was not worth the trip over there.
Seriously? No way José! Never again! This is not for me.
I have to say I was hesitant going in already (mostly because of my disastrous experience at their Seven Seas Spa last year). Our friends insisted we attend the "all you can eat lobster" Wednesday night.
We had reservations for 6:45pm. Our friends were already seated when we got there so that was not a problem. The scale of this night is epic. The front part looks to be the main dining room. The back room looks like an add on, perhaps just for this night, because of the demand. We walked past a sea of people all wearing their plastic bibs and chowing down with intent focus on some serious lobster. Not one empty "folding chair" seat.
The cost is $ 38.00 and it includes (duh) all you can eat lobster, a soup or salad, bread, corn on the cob and potatoes. The Manhattan clam chowder (which the waitress called "New England clam chowder but tomato based") came promptly with the spoon already in it. Weird. The salad was your typical Caesar that you find anywhere. Just some barely Romaine lettuce with some dressing masquerading as Caesar dressing. Then came the huge round platter. In it, victim # 1 waited for me. It sat next to the most tasteless corn on the cob I have ever had in my life and the sorriest excuse for potatoes I have ever tried.
I tried to go with the flow and play along. I dove into breaking this lobster apart. The tail comes a little cracked already but you still have to tear the body off and IT IS NOT PLEASANT. When you tear it off you see the nasty cooked insides and this gooey green mushy mess that must be the their digested or something equally disgusting. If it was not the green mush then it was a white mush. At this point, I don't even want to know what it was. It was equally disturbing that all this mush got everywhere! when you cracked it, a lot of it flew across the table despite everyone's best efforts to not do just that. One thing is to do that when in the kitchen getting ready to cook it. Another is to do so while seated at a dining table dressed nicely.
Once you dove into the tail and claws, it was pleasant to eat and tasted good. The problem was sweeping all the "other" things off your plate so that it did not touch your meat. The platter comes with a wax type printed paper that sliced through when you used your knife making the entire thing a mess of paper, mush, guts and no glory. I finally asked for a new plate and was happy they brought me a real one without the paper and without the crappy corn/potatoes.
I worked my way through three lobsters and was done. I needed another shower asap. At some point through my dinner a woman walked by us with a dog in a stroller. Yes, you read that right. It wasn't even a tiny puppy. It was a full grown one. He was a little startled (surprise!) and started barking making diners turn around to try and find the "source". He did calm down and behaved the rest of the night but I thought it was odd. This was not outdoors and it not a seeing eye dog either.
We ordered wine which came at room temperature. Asking to put it in ice meant they brought out a bucket (without a stand) and placed it mid center table. They did not have floor stands they said. Asked for cappuccinos but, "sorry, the machine was unplugged and we are waiting for it to heat up again" and then " sorry, it's not working, no espressos". (If you read my reviews you know how often this happens to me and what a pet peeve it is! urgh!). Not sure why we bothered with dessert but we did. Big mistake. Blah flour-less cake with an equally blah NY "style" cheesecake. Not sure which "style" that is but I will venture to say it has nothing to do with NY and more to do with buying whatever is cheapest and gets them most stock somewhere else. Give me a f'ckin' break! They only get an additional star because the lobster, albeit small, was fresh and tasty.
By the time we walked out there was a mob waiting to come in. Clearly I am in the minority because people love to dine here. Then again, people love Walmart.
Disclaimer: My experience was actually 5-star worthy. However, as you read on, you'll see that it isn't exactly possible to duplicate my experience so in the interest of fairness I'll rate it as if I didn't get the special perks.
Came here for dinner with Gil G. as part of a special the Seven Seas Spa downstairs is running - $100 for a 50-minute massage for two plus a 3-course dinner for two, free valet, and unlimited spa use (yes, it's an incredible deal - check out my review of the spa for more details). We went on Wednesday, which is the night of their all you can eat lobster special, so the restaurant was packed with a line going out the door. Fortunately, we were able to be seated at one of the bars (there are two) immediately.
We were given the pre-set spa menu, which consists of either caesar or house salad, followed by your choice of a chicken or teriyaki salmon entree, followed by dessert of key lime pie. While we were mulling over the entree decision, I got to talking with a friendly guy who turns out to be Chris Wong, the executive chef. After some friendly conversation, Chris asks if we like lobster. Obviously, my reply is "of course!." He then motions to the waitress and asks her to get us a lobster on the house. Score! While the salads were fairly standard, the lobster was fresh and incredibly delicious. My grilled chicken with pasta was good and Gil's teriyaki salmon was prepared very well also (not dry, as many places serve cooked salmon, and also not overpowered by the teriyaki sauce). I enjoyed the key lime for dessert as well.
Overall, we had an incredible experience as part of an incredible deal. This place certainly gets an unfair share of negative reviews on here and is worth a try, especially if you're staying at the hotel. I'll definitely try to book this special again (not sure how long the spa will be offering it) but even without it, I'd definitely return to Kitchen 305 in the future for their lobster special. Thanks again to Chef Wong for making our experience so great!
Went with my boyfriend for dinner on a Sunday night. We stood by the door for about ten minutes waiting for the server that never appeared so I asked the bartender that had seen us waiting if we should sit ourselves or wait for the hostess. It turned out that he was the manager and apologized as he took us to our seat while blaming it on a football game going on.
Our waitress was extremely friendly and very attentive. As far as service goes I would rate this restaurant at 5.
The food on the other hand not that great. My boyfriend had the prime rib special ($25 for prime rib, mashed potato, a choice of soup or salad, and a dessert). The soup of the day was a beef vegetable soup which was amazing. I love soup and this one was probably one of the best I've had. The prime rib was cooked well and the portion was pretty big. The mashed potato were OK nothing to rave about. I ordered the fish tacos but I should've known better. The size of the fish was very small and it was fried fish but very soggy. I didn't even eat it because they were flavorless. The waitress realized and offered to send it back and order something new. When I declined she said I could take some soup home since I loved it so much! PERFECT!!!
For dessert we ordered the creme brûlée which was pretty big considering that in most places its a thin plate but here it was served in a bowl with fresh blueberries and a dab of whipped cream.
I'd probably return just for the soup and the service!
Wednesday $35 all you can eat lobster, enough said! I scarfed down 6 lobsters last Wednesday night and it was amazing. The lobster were medium sized and were very tasty! The only down fall to the night is they were running 30 minutes late on reservations so we had to wait a little bit to sit down, but it was well worth the wait. I will return to this place next time I'm in Miami.
Review Source:Came for one of the specials of course...Stone Crab night (friday). However, I opted for a regular entree myself--the linguini fruit de mare, and it was delish. You better love garlic!
My party mostly ordered the stone crab of course, and were pleased. several dessert options which is always nice. seems it's also ladies night on fridays, and from 9-11, ladies not only drink, but EAT FREE as well! Live DJ spinning; it definitely becomes more of a lounge/club as the night progresses...
Place was nice, not DYING to return, but would if the opportunity presented itself without any effort on my part.
Do you Love Lobster? Do you like a relax vacation atmosphere while having dinner?
If your answered is yes to any of these questions. You must visit Kitchen 305 Â located in the lobby of The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort. On Wednesdays they have all you can eat Lobster Night.
The food is excelent the staff is friendly it feels like being on vacation in the middle of the week. To spice up your week I would reccommend visiting this restaurant. Â
I live in Kendall. Yet my wife and I drive all the way to Sunny Isle to relax and enjoy a great meal in warm atmosphere with good music.
Kitchen 305 & The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort is the spot.
My wife made reservations for us and a couple of friends for a Saturday night! We were staying in the hotel that this place is in, so naturally she thought it would be a good new place to try.
Overall all, I would give it two and a half stars if I could. Our servers were very good and our we did have a good time with our friends that night. So, why such a low rating? Price! Simply put, the food and the ambiance of the place is not worth the prices they charge on that menu.
Granted, I'm not a fine dining geek. I much more prefer the local Mom and Pop eatery that puts their heart and soul into good comfort food. With that said however, I have had my fair share of fine dining experiences. Many too long ago for me to fairly review them here. I've seen pricier menus too. Yet, the food usually meets the price. Not here. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't horrible. I consumed and I mostly enjoyed.
My wife and I both ordered the surf and turf special which seeemed reasonable at $35. Our friends ordered the Salmon and the chicken carbonara. Not sure how much they were. We had a total of seven mixed drinks between us, two appetizers, plus three deserts and one coffee. Our total $332! Even better was the fact that the bill included an 18% gratuity for a party of four???? WTF?
Now, the food. My steak, a supposed 6oz. filet mignon (medium rare) was slightly over cooked and had a strange texture too it. Almost mushy. The lobster, overcooked too, to the point of rubbery. It came with some nice steamed green beans and mashed potatoes. My wife said her (well done) steak was to hear liking but, had the same complaint about her lobster. Our friends stated that the salmon was very small and the chicken carbonara was swimming in sauce. For that money, I expect better.
I will admit that we never once complained to the staff about our food. I have always been of the opinion that you avoid sending food back. I'm terrified of a pissed off server or chef. So, I never gave them a chance to correct the food mistakes. However, nothing I could say there then could change, what I felt to be, an overpriced menu.
Let me start with the good. LOCATION, that's about it. It's located inside the Newport Beach Hotel, which is very nice.. Yelp it/Google it!
Let's continue with the bad...
We made reservations for 8:15PM on a Wednesday night for "All you can eat Lobster". We get there and the line is practically outside the hotel. The line was for those who had reservations.. and it wasnt moving. Not to mention there were people waiting on the side, in the lobby, at the bar that had reservations for an hour before.
At this point, I was already because I was hangry. Yes. Hangry. That mean hungry AND angry! lol
About 25-30 minutes after waiting in line, we finally let them know that we are there. We are told that the wait was about 45 minutes from your reservation. We decide to go to the bar and drink. 4 beers down, and almost an hour later... we sit down, finally!
Let's just say that it wasnt "ALL YOU CAN EAT".. It was more like, "EAT UNTIL WE RUN OUT".
My friend and I only had 3 each. Obviously I had worked up an appetite, and I was able to eat a lot more, but... they didnt have any more lobster to satisfy my hunger.
The best they could do for us was offer a 20% discount. Pfft.. That was nice!
So... moral of the story. If you dont work, GO EARLY! If you do work, and can only make it after 8:00PM, go to RED LOBSTER lol
Came here for a casting and offered a free dinner here. They had a preset menu for caeser salad, chicken marsala, and cotton candy. I would say what we had was meh. Very basic, but the rice the chicken came with was good.
SERVICE IS VERY SLOW! Even though we had practically a free meal (we had to pay for tax and gratuity). It shouldn't be the reason why they had to take so long to serve us food. Based on service I would NOT come back here.
Wednesday is all you can eat lobster night so come before 8! If you want the lobster... I will come back to try this. And so valet is a ZOO. I wouldn't recommended trying to park across the street. Sunny Isles will tow your car!
We read some bad reviews and noted, on another review site, that they'd run out of lobster on the all-you-can eat night, gave the diners a terrible time, then the maitre d' posted a highly inappropriate response. We noted that it was 2 years ago so thought we might give it a try. We made reservation through OpenTable.
Our antennae came up a little bit as we arrived. There was a terribly long line of cars trying to turn into Newport Beach Hotel where the restaurant is located. It took us over 15 minutes to get to the door for valet service, there was no recognizable self park. There were several valet attendants but they were totally overwhelmed. Since they've been offering the all-you-can eat venue for several years, this could not be a surprise crowd. They should have been more efficient, but they were not.
They took the car and we walked into the Hotel. There was a line from the restaurant across the lobby to the door. As there was no maitre d' visible, we walked over to a fella dressed in the hotel garb who was standing behind a desk and inquired about seating. He pointed us to the line. I stated that we had reservations. He again pointed us to the line. I asked how long before we would be seated. He didn't know. His attitude was caustic. Our greeting was inhospitable.
It appears that a reservation only gives you a place in line. Go to the bar and lose your place in line. And the line was growing...
Between the parking experience and our greeting, we chose to leave before further abuse. We waited another 15 minutes for our car and drove off to an excellent dinner at the Grand Inka.
There are just too many great restaurants in the area to put up with this kind of nonsense. We've never ben treated with such gross disregard by any restaurant anywhere. We certainly will never go back nor advise anyone to do so. Going for a $35 all-you-can eat lobster seems to give these folks license to treat diners like cattle.
This is not the place to go for a memorable dining experience unless you wish to take home your own unique war story.
Made a reservation to celebrate birthdays for my parents on a Wednesday night (their all you can eat lobster night). You cannot go wrong. All you can eat lobster for $35 a person. If you eat more than 1 its worth it. My entire family loved it. The service was great, the lobsters were great and the parking situation (valet) was easy.
They bring you lobsters every time you are about to finish the one before. There is no such thing as too much lobster.
I would highly suggest a reservation if you come on a Wednesday or you will be waiting. The place was PACKED to say the least.
Kitchen 305 is in the  renovated Newport Beach Hotel and a party destination.
I know Kitchen 305 as having the hot girls very welcomed in the Restaurant they hook it up and the DJ is good too. The whole restaurant is also a club. Johnathan the Manager is really Great.
I like the Decor here.
You walk into the Lobby of the Newport Beach Hotel and to the right is the Hostess stand to Kitchen 305 and a Bar stretching along the wall on the right. The somewhat open kitchen is in front of the bar and the DJ booth to the left of the kitchen. Â
There are semi-private rooms in the back of the restaurant and a whole other seating area in the back also the dance floor.
Kitchen 305 throws a lot of different events from body painting contests, to fashion shows and bikini contests (indoors and the pool) so they make sexy events.
The food is where they lose points for me. Unfortunately the only thing I had that was good was the Cesar salad it was great with the croutons and Parmesan. Â The Chicken Marsala was undesirable and seemed blah .
There was no presentation here what so ever. What was cool was the cotton candy at the end of dinner.
Probable will be back with the girls though! Fun times
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I've been in Miami for almost two years and I've eaten at many restaurants during my time here; but, none as good as Kitchen 305 in terms of their food, and most importantly, in my humble opinion, their 5-star customer service. Wednesday's $35 all-you-can-eat lobster speaks for itself and it is topped off by tremendous customer service. If you go on a Wednesday, be sure to ask for Jill, as she is by far the best server I've had since moving to the area. She is a true class act and I highly recommend her for any large or small group. In addition, Kitchen 305's GM, Jonathan, has obviously done his research on how to run a classy establishment. Both he and Jill made the visit truly memorable and I look forward to visiting again in the very near future. My hat goes off to Jill and Jonathan! You must visit Kitchen 305!!!
We came here for one reason only...$35.00 all-you-can-eat lobster. I made sure to not set my expectations too high. After all, you get what you pay for, right? Well, here you really do get more than what you pay for. Besides being unlimited, the lobster was actually quite good. I was pleasantly surprised by the waitress bringing more without my having to ask. She just kept those little beauties coming! I always wondered how much lobster I could eat if there were no limit, and I finally know! I am both proud and embarassed to say that I had 5 and a half. Finishing number 6, would have probably made me sick. Let the record show, however, that I skipped lunch in preparation for the gluttony!
This place is in the Newport Hotel, which I must say, is really looking good these days. The restaurant is quite large. The front area is very clubby, contemporary, pretty loud. In the back, there's a more casual area. We were brought back there, which was perfectly fine with me, since the decibel level was a bit lower. If you want quiet, dine early. If you want to party, later is for you. They were setting up for live music when we left shortly before 8:00.
One complaint: management gets a failing grade for not answering their phone all day and not calling back after asking you to leave your name and number for a reservation. I made my reservation on Opentable, after finding they were listed, but still wanted to ask a couple of questions. An unanswered phone at a place of business is a big turnoff for me, as it shows poor management skills and a complete disregard for the customer.
It was my decision to give Kitchen 305 a try after a good recommendation from a family member. We used <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fopentable.com&s=897c359bd752b4f5407d5ea86453c82be2d1913c8d0b51b18d81fc58f52a6497" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://opentable.com</a> to make a reservation for 4 at 9:15pm on a Saturday. When we arrived, the other 2 members of our party had already been seated, but there was no hostess at the front so we just kind of walked in and found our friends. Kind of awkward for the high class, expensive restaurant they're trying to be.
We had OK service from our waiter, but it was not formal at all, more suited to a chili's or tgi fridays, not quite what we expected either for the price we were paying. When our friends were seated, there was no silverware or anything on the table, they had to ask for it.
My husband ordered the lobster bisque, but it was terrible, he ended up sending it back but we were still charged for it. When he told our waiter it tasted bitter, the waiter questioned him like he didn't believe him, instead of just apologizing. Not a good impression:. We did order the Brie appetizer, which was great, if a little overdone- the cheese ran out like liquid all over the plate, but it was ok, we didn't mind. I had the house riesling, which was fantastic.
For dinner, I ordered the sea food linguini, I thought it was great, and my husband ordered the shrimp scampi which was good also. I think my meal was worth the price tag, but his wasn't. My friend ordered the short ribs with pasta which I don't think she enjoyed unfortunately.
When we were done with dinner, we asked for the dessert menu, and apparently our waiter didn't want to go back and get them. He said most of it wasn't available anyway and if he could just tell us what they did have. We definitely weren't expecting that either. We ordered the creme brulee and vanilla ice cream, which were OK as well.
Mostly, we weren't able to enjoy the second half of our meal because we were seated in front of a DJ booth, and around 10pm, the restaurant starts turning into a club. The music is extremely loud allowing for very little conversation. The commotion of people picking up and dropping tables all around us made us feel really uncomfortable and rushed.
We wanted to take our leftover food to go, and the waiter brought us boxes to our table for us to box up our own food. For almost $300, they could have packed it for us in the back. Not only that, but they were out of large boxes, and he had to give us many small ones for us to pack our own food.
When I asked for our check, my friend asked to split it, and when I said no, to keep it on one check, our waiter actually said "you might change your mind once you see it". Â He must have been joking but I didn't find it funny at all.
Overall, for 4 people, we spent $241. We were disappointed with the level of service, and I feel if we are spending that much, we should have been treated much better. Â FYI- 18% gratuity is automatically included on your bill, make sure you take a good look, because on the 2nd receipt, it says its not included, causing many people to tip twice.
The evening just continued to get weirder, on our way out we stopped in the restroom, where two girls had their belongings scattered all over the floor. Apparently they were getting ready to dance in the restaurant/club. A guy then walked into the bathroom telling them to hurry up and get out there that the manager was getting upset and asking how many other girls were coming.
We won't be going back, but at least we gave it a try.
4/18/12. Â Do Not Eat Here, unless you like wasting your money and eating 3rd rate food.
A friend and I attended a Time Share Presentation at the Newport Beach Hotel and as part of the incentive they provided us with a $50 voucher to eat at Kitchen 305.
I made reservations for dinner and was told the wait would be 1/2 an hour, however the over all wait time was about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Â Unfortunately, we were there on Wednesday which is there " All you can eat lobster night" and the place was a mad house. Â The music inside was so loud you could even talk to each other.
We ordered the Crispy Calamari (which was not crispy at all - it tasted like it just came out of a box from the grocery store), the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich (which was extremely greasy and tasteless), and the Chicken Flatbread ( it was overcooked and because it was a flat bread the dough was burnt). Â Overall the food was horrendous. Â Even with the free $50 voucher I rather it somewhere else.
By the way the service was also lacking. Â Our waiter was not attentive and my friend actually had to get up off the table and go walk around to find the waiter to get our check.
Never Ever Again will I step foot in this restaurant or the Hotel. Â To top off the night -- it was over a half hour wait for the valet.
Total disappointment - I don't mind hole in the walls when they are advertised as such  and have great live music  or excellent food/service. Â
Service? So some people got charged up front for their valet service while others did not - which gave people in my group an uneasy feeling that there were people pocketing the money -- By 10pm the "kitchen" of Kitchen 305 was closed - so no one could order appetizers to balance drinks - that were by the way watered down. Â
Club? The d.j was clue-less - absolutely no one on the dance floor - but he didn't have a back up plan - or make any "requests" to figure out what the crowd wanted. Â Out of no where they had an underwear contest - and I was so embarrassed for the desperate women who stripped for a few dollars while creepy guys filmed them with their phones. Â Then by 11:30pm everyone left - no more music, and tables and chairs lifted....ok time to get out. So people paid $10 for valet (cover?) to get kicked out by 11:30pm. Â Why are they advertising this place as a club?
This place gets five rotten oysters.
happy birthday to meeeeeeeee!!!!
What a nice place. Â Not a very big space, but definitely swanky feeling. Â If you find a manger, they can validate your parking and you only end up paying $5. Score! Â I'm not sure what the deal is with the complimentary dinners and drinks for girls, all I know is that for my birthday, I went, ate, drank, and paid nothing. Â Food was very good, and there's always $35 for all you can eat stone crabs. Â Pretty good deal if you ask me. Â They've got a little dj set up playing pretty decent music, and they have super hot gogo dancers come out and dance on the bar. Nice spot. Â I'd do it again
What a disappointment.
A friend of mine was celebrating her 25th birthday last night and another friend planned the celebration dinner at Kitchen 305. I was really excited about a free 3 course dinner for ladies and open bar for an hour from 10-11. Seemed like a great deal, and it was, but I'd rather pay for better service and surroundings.
When we arrived, the place was packed, but I expected that because this time of year always keeps places busy with holiday happy hours and office parties. Instead of going through the whole, long story, I'll give you the list of the major things that went wrong:
-They kept dividing and moving our party as bigger parties came in.
-In this process, some of my friend's birthday gifts were stolen.
-Service was SLOW. Snail's pace. Hard to track down our server.
-Music got exponentially louder as is got later.
-Got kicked out of our table just as the dessert arrived because they wanted to make more room for the dance floor (as we were leaving, we walked through plenty of empty space where people could have been dancing).
As for the food, it was free, so I'm not complaining about that. The three course meal included a salad, veal chop with polenta (which turned out to be pork), and cotton candy to share at the table for dessert. It wasn't great, but it was free. Reminded me of cruise ship food.
I don't know if some of the issues may have been poor planning on the part of the birthday girl's friend who put the dinner together, but Kitchen 305 definitely had a hand in making it worse with the service.
It might be a while before I head back, and I'd never come back on a night when they've got the "club" thing going on.
I had to inflate my 4 start review to 5 stars because all of these ratings are way too low. The hotel that this restaurant is in - Newport Beachside Hotel - sucks. However, the restaurant is wonderful. But you can't be cheap about it. This is an expensive upscale restaurant and you must be willing to get the expensive dishes to taste the delicacies the Chef has to offer.
I ordered the "Meet the Potato" filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and I've been dreaming about it ever since I left Miami. They cooked the filet perfectly and I've never had such savory baby potatoes. The "We got the Beat" salad with beets is also delicious.
If you go on a Friday or Saturday night and stick around, they'll likely have a decent DJ and a popping party. So go here for dinner and save yourself the cover fee at another club. So make sure you bring an empty stomach and dancing shoes to the Kitchen :o)
Talk about an awful experience! My boyfriend and I had a Living Social deal for Kitchen 305 and went there at 9:00 or so on a Thursday. The place was half full but we still had to wait for a table because the hostess was nowhere to be found. The slow service continued once we were seated. Waiting for a server, waiting for drinks, waiting for my salad and then waiting 30 more minutes for our other dishes... I did not understand this since the place was crawling with waitstaff. The food was so unremarkable I am having trouble remembering what I ate. But I do remember the mussels. They were old and rubbery and I have had better at cheap Chinese buffets.
When it came time to pay our bill the server and then manager refused to accept the iphone voucher version of our living social deal. You know, the iphone version of the voucher every merchant is required to accept in order to participate in the program? The manager told me to go to the hotel lobby and print it out there, which required purchasing an hour of time at the business center. The bellhop helped me convince the front desk staff to use their computer to print it out, but to do that I had to provide my login and password information so they could get into my account and print out the voucher. Talk about an embarrassing evening!
We went last night for the first night of All You Can Eat Stone Crabs. Good thing we arrived early as it was reservations only and we got the last 2 seats at the bar. The Stone Crabs were excellent, the lobster bisque very good while the creamed spinach wasn't worth a second bite. My girlfriend ordered the Tuna steak and liked it but regrets not getting the Stone Crabs. I think after 30+ minutes of watching me have all the fun, she really wanted some. After 10 very large & sweet stone crabs, I was stuffed and we'll definitely be back! They advertised at $35 but it was $42 a la carte. Go get it every Friday!!
Fun crowd.
Service was stellar.
Atmosphere was great w/very good lounge music ie) Sinatra
Prices reasonable.
Valet $10 or park across the street at meters.
Disclaimer: No food or drinks were consumed at Kitchen 305. This review is fueled by a Latin temper, hormones and an inability to suffer fools or incompetence.
- Monday afternoon. Lovely boyfriend picks up the phone and makes reservation many days in advance for a little night music and lobster to surprise his hard-to-please girlfriend.
- Saturday night. Drive for 40 minutes way above the legal speed limit to ensure an on-time arrival.
- Arrive right on the dot to be informed by the parking valet that the restaurant is closed for the evening for a wedding. (Say whaaaat?)
- Now frustrated, lovely boyfriend goes in to Kitchen 305 to bust some chops.
" But I made a reservation on Monday."
"Oh, sorry. That shouldn't have happened. They've known about this wedding for weeks."
That's it. Barely an apology. No invitation to return. Lame.
Lovely frustrated boyfriend's girlfriend-- a "one strike-you're out" kind of girl-- is hungry, pissed, holds grudges and shall never return to Kitchen 305.
Okay... what can i say. I tried to bankrupt this place with the "all you can eat lobster" they have on wednesday nights. I had 6 lobsters and several free glasses of wine. Cause on wednesdays, it's also ladies night and women drink free. How do they do it????
I don't understand the few reviews they have which are bad. To those people, i would say go back and try again cause they've got it right.
I was expecting it to take ages to get another lobster, but they were ordering us a new one before we finished a previous one.
And I hear when it's in sesason, they do an "all you can eat stone crabs". It's a shame I didn't know about that when it happened.
This is a prefect place to bring visitors who don't get seafood in mass quantities like this. its just a shame I didn't find out about this place sooner!!!
PS: In a battle over eating lobsters... i won and ate 6 of them!!!! You would think that the staff would have escorted me out of the building, but instead, they offered me free wine!
Also, they have a nice beach area with a bar outside of the hotel. Gorgous view!!!
I can't believe I have forgotten to review this place! Went here a couple of weeks ago with my cousins and their spouses to see Montserrat Franco perform. She is an excellent singer with an amazing voice. Â Unfortunately, the place did not do her justice, the music was extremely loud and it totally drowned her once she started with the spanish music.
Back to my real review. Kitchen 305 is a great place to have a couple of drinks and some food and just mingle with your friends. But go early because the loud music begins at 11pm. Hubby and I arrived a bit earlier than the other and we were graciously greeted by Karen. Beautiful young girl with an amazing smile and a great personality. We proceeded to sit at their wonderful bar to wait for the rest of the party. Veronica came over to offer us some drinks, again another young girl with a huge smile and very attentive. She made me one of the best Cosmopolitans I've had so far and offered hubby a nice drink according to his taste. Â Once our party arrived we went to our table, which had been waiting for us since the beginning. None of that "oh we can't give you a table until everyone is here", NO! it was ready and waiting for us...awesome.
We get to our table and we had one of the BEST waiters ever...MOHAMMED...he was AMAZING, OUTSTANDING, incredibly nice and patient with our party of seven with all kinds of requests and questions. They were still having the Miami Spice menu and hubby ordered the rib eye which was wonderful, perfectly cooked and tasty. I ordered filet medallions that came with potatoes and it was totally overcooked. Hubby asked Mohammed to please take it back and make me a new one cause it was really hard, he gladly did so and brought me back a completely new plate that was excellent. Everyone at our table was very happy with the service and their food. Â Like I said before, I think it's a nice place to have a couple of drinks maybe something to eat but, if you are like us, leave before 11pm because DJ Alfre plays his music way TOO LOUD for the space.
Kitchen 305 has its nights. Look it up to see what's happening before you go. When they have live music, it's always top notch local artists. I went on Friday and heard 4th dimension - reggae band and they blew me away. I even bought the CD.
Let's not forget that the kitchen is in the Sunny Isles/Aventura area so the crowds don't flock. I think the word here needs to be spread. The place is nice, has a cool vibe.
Oh yeah, and the Kobe sliders are great!
Once known as Michael's Kitchen, the chef-driven outpost of Hollywood toque Michael Blum, the restaurant at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort in Sunny Isles is now reborn as Kitchen 305 and Chef Kelly Sheehan (Johnny V's South Beach) is now running the kitchen.
Having been to Micheal's Kitchen, which was originally located in Hollywood FL, this restaurant is no comparison. Â Although the restaurant has a chic and upbeat vibe, the dishes do not have the creative presentation and food combinations as the original Micheal's Kitchen. Anyone who has ever been to Micheal's can understand what I'm saying.
The food was OK. Service was par. The decor is very cool and chic. Â Music playing in the background and there is a huge TV by the bar area. No events were taking place that night so the restaurant was quite empty.
I would return if they have an interesting event scheduled.
I went here to see Brendan O'Hara play on a Friday night. I got there around 7and it was pretty empty. The blond bartender was bouncy and happy, and the atmosphere was pretty hip. The Menu consists of pretty traditional American style food. We got a few apps and shared them. The conch fritters were out of this world. They were served with a key lime aioli which was a perfect dipper for them. My friend got the Kobe sliders, a caesar salad which was pretty standard. I got a flat bread (pizza) with prosciutto which was pretty good, but the prosciutto was cut pretty thick, which made it more like a pancetta.
Over all, it was a pretty cool place. Cool vibe, and the prices aren't too over the top.
my only complaint was one of the other bartenders, who didn't speak very well English, and didn't really seem to know what she was doing. If you are going to be working in a loud fast paced environment, you should at least be able to understand what people are saying. Oh, and the DJ.... maybe not so great either.
Food = good
live music = awesome
atmosphere = cool
DJ= meh
