I came here for lunch and had the most amazing veggie burger! After announcing how delicious the burger was I was told its hand made and not just a store bought veggie burger patty. Awesome vibe with cool tunes, just an awesome place to chill.

A funky little place that is like a bar, but it was decent food, I am sure the nightlife is a bit more fun so I would come back to see how they do at nighttime.

The burger was just ok but the atmosphere was cool.

Absolutely love this place!! I have been there for brunch and for dinner.  Both times the food was great.  It has a dive-bar atmosphere, but they greet you with smiles and treat you like you are a regular.  The service was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection!

Decent local place. I haven't tried the food, but Guinness was good and had a decent atmosphere. I would rate them higher if they had some good craft beers on tap.

I've been to Kitty O'Shea's a number of times, and I've only been impressed by the food once - when I chose the 'built my own' burger.  THAT was delicious.  The other food I've had was so-so. (and 2 stars sounds bad, but the yelp description is 'meh', so it fits)  The Irish whisky burger was really soggy and messy, and the fish in the fish and chips was really just ok, pretty tasteless.  The Donagal chips were pretty good, and I actually really like their fries, which is a pretty big deal.

Just yesterday when I was there, one of the staff was unloading his truck (his personal little truck) with the food supplies - fresh meat and seemingly good ingredients.  Pretty awesome and quaint.

Their price for beer is pretty good - Magner's cider is about $6, Yuengling $4.25 or so.

Service at lunch is kind of slow, but when they were hopping at night it was a bit better than average.

I haven't had their more traditional irish meals - bangers and mash or corned beef and cabbage - it's a bit more expensive.

Go ahead and try it, but don't expect awesomeness (although apparently many people love it on here...)

I like it here.  Low key, good beers, reasonable prices, free board games.  Pretty much everything a bar should be.

This place is great! We went here for lunch today with a Living Social voucher for two lunch entrees and two drinks. We were greeted and seated immediately by our waitress, who was actually one of the owners of the restaurant. She is awesome - super friendly and spent time talking to us about the restaurant and what she's trying to do with it. She's doing a great job. Kitty O'Shea's will definitely be a go-to place for me from now on. The atmosphere is great. It's the kind of place you want to go to just hang out with friends and have a drink in the neighborhood, and meanwhile have some excellent food. We got the fish and chips and the veggie burger. They were both outstanding. The veggie burger is homemade and was definitely the best one I've ever had. I'm not a vegetarian, but I would order that any day. It came with an awesome pepper relish, too. It ordinarily comes with fries, but we got it with a salad, and wow, were they generous with that! They gave us a huge mound of fresh greens. The fish and chips were fantastic, too. The fish was fresh, tender, and flaky, just lightly breaded, and not greasy at all. The tartar sauce was great, and the fries were cut fresh and seasoned with what I think was Old Bay. They were crisp and not greasy - just awesome. It came with coleslaw, as well, which was also really tasty.

The whole experience at Kitty O'Shea's was great. I couldn't be more impressed, from the service to the atmosphere to the food. I can't wait to go back!

Leaving the Dupont Circle area for lunch is a challenge, we have so much close-by. My friend had craving for a burger with an egg on top. Thank goodness for Yelp, because who knew???? It's only on their brunch menu; but the chef made it for us anyway.  She was so happy with her choice. I had the BLT with the potato leek soup; the only word that comes to mind is yummy! Applewood bacon makes everything better...

The new owner was really friendly and provided outstanding service. We went during lunch and there were a few other patrons. He also mentioned their Happy Hour and that they have different daily specials.  Great experience, we will be back after we work off those meals!

I really like this place. The staff is friendly and the food isn't half bad. I really like this one thing they have which is just chips covered with bacon and cheese.

They also have a good Shepard's pie as well. The fact that it is small is both a good and bad thing. I like how cozy it feels but at the same time it can fill up fast.

My only complaint is that over the men's toilet is a picture of this old woman. It kind of makes it awkward to do your business.

This place is such a hidden gem, I almost don't want to write about it. Cozy and friendly, not pretentious like many places in DC.  Food, beer, atmosphere, staff, fellow patrons-  all are great! Total neighborhood bar.

I had a great happy hour here with a co-worker late this afternoon.  This is your traditional Irish/sports bar, a cozy neighborhood hang-out joint. The service was very friendly and attentive.  If you're looking for a fru-fru hipster place, go somewhere else.  Unfortunately I had a large lunch so I couldn't sample much of the food but I'm looking forward to trying out their Irish grub in the future.

Kitty O' Shea's is a great neighborhood bar.  Why go to Public where the beer is overpriced, the food is bad, and the service is hostile?  Do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Kitty's.  Everything that I have eaten here has been great.  My favorite is the Shepherd's Pie.  The staff are all friendly and helpful.  They also love to rock the 90's. This place is keeping it real and holding it down.

1st time visit for a late lunch, on a super rainy day. Completely soaked when we got in the restaurant.
Bought my special someone to this place coz he is Irish and he told me that he had be craving Irish sausage and Black & White pudding.
He ordered the Dublin City Traditional Breakfast and I ordered the Guinness Beef Stew.
Nice portion, great flavor and really nice service. We both went home with a happy fat bally.
Will be back again in a sunny day!!!

The food was great and so was the service. Our server Brian was amazing. Fish n chips were solid and you could tell that cod was fresh

I've only been during the week and definitely enjoy sitting outside on the patio while in that part of the city after a workout .

Decent beer selection and typical Irish bar food but nothing seems special about it. I haven't had much food there so can't really discuss the consistency and overall quality but it wasn't disappointing. The first couple times we went there, the service was little slow but sine they have been much better so I attribute that to a bad day.

I wouldn't travel to this place but while I'm in the area, it's a consistent place to grab a pint and bar food...

Kitty's is a great hangout with a very likable staff and warm feel. I've only been in DC for a month now and from what I can tell, they have decent deals on pitchers of beer and any other alcohol.
Although the decor and ambiance of Kitty's is unmatchable, the food is not so hot. The fish and chips are probably the best thing on the menu. But like I said, the great staff and aura of the Irish pub are more than good reasons to check this local spot out.

Good vibe.  Bonus points for having a legit Irish breakfast (and for serving it all day).  One star downgrade from five because said Irish breakfast was a bit lacking.  The puddings were somewhat overcooked and there should have been a half tomato, not a quarter slice.  The rashers and sausage were excellent, though.

A high rating for a good neighborhood spot to hang out in.

The decor is like a pub, in that it is nothing too exciting.  The food is filling and cheap compared to many places in DC, although I would not point any picky foodies in this direction.  It won't be the best meal you've had, but it goes quite well with all of the beer you should be drinking there :)

The reason for the five stars has nothing to do with these things, however.  The only reason I keep returning to Kitty O'shea's every week is the staff.  The owner is very personable and does a great job making people feel welcome.  Chris, the bartender, is amazing.  I have never enjoyed a bartender so much in my life.  My boyfriend and I go there to sit at the bar frequently, just to hang out and talk with Chris while we have some pints.  Alyssa also is a really fun person.  She has always given us great service.  I must say that I will occasionally walk by and keep walking if I don't see these two working, which seems to be less and less lately..  But when I have ventured in when other bartenders were working, they were always really friendly and attentive.

If you live in the area, it is a fun place to hang out in with friends.  If you don't, it's not anywhere you really need to travel to.

Just found this little pub even though it has been open since September. Nice guys working there, fish and chips were very good, crabcake sandwich was good and the donegan fries were like nachos but made with fresh fried potato chips, with bacon cheese and sour cream.
We will definitely be back and are spreading the word!

Solid neighborhood joint with good, well-priced food and a large selection of beer & wine.  Daily specials too.  Nice outdoor patio on busy Wisconsin Avenue lets u check out city life.  Had chicken pot pie and a large cobb salad and we definitely were not hungry afterwards.  Remember to ask for salad dressing on the side, as they have a heavy hand!

Very friendly staff. Standard pub fare but well prepared and leaves you feeling satisfied.  We went in on a craving, having spent last Easter in Dublin, and left feeling the same sense of neighborhood camaraderie that we were missing. Far better than the recent influx of chain restaurants in the guise of pubs.

Overall, I was pretty content with the food. We both ordered the fish and chips and it was a fairly generous portion of both.  The fish was of a high quality (probably cod) and the batter was well made.  The fries were somewhat heavily seasoned, so to have them with malt vinegar was kind of a strange combination of flavors. Our server was a bartender there whom was a little over-friendly, but that is forgivable given the overall terrible customer service that DC is famous for.

I came here for lunch one day with 4 coworkers around noon time. There was only one tv on and that was for the bartender/waiter. We were the only people there all service long and I understand why: this is no place to come for good service or a speedy meal. Make no mistake about it though, our burgers, sandwiches, and fries were tasty and inexpensive for DC considering the quality and quantity. Unfortunately, some items were missing or incorrect from some of the orders. And on the matter of speediness, the owner seems to drive the point home that you're better off finding friendship than frenzy here. He greeted our table halfway through our meal in hopes that we'd stay for a while and join him in some pints :-)

It's a good meal to be had around AU, where good meals are scarce.

Kitty O'Shea's has great atmosphere, and very personable staff. But what keeps me coming back every weekend is their scrumptious brunch menu, which includes waffles, steak and eggs, pancakes, and build-your-own omelettes. It all sticks to your ribs. It's safe to say I have a place in my neighborhood where it's a joy to be a regular.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Kitty O'Shea's!

I enjoyed this place when I was forced to be in Clarendon. I was sad when it closed (whatever was I supposed to do? Go to Ri-Ra?) in Arlington. I may have fist-pumped when I saw it was taking over the ill-fated Murphy's Law (aka The Worst Bar Eva).

The decor has changed NAUGHT from it's Murphy's Law days, but that's okay. It looks much nicer on the inside than the outside conveys.

When you get down to the nitty gritty, this is just a neighborhood Irish pub with game day specials. But what gives this place the extra star is the service. Yes, my server needed to tone down the excitement a notch. But I'd rather have overly-enthusiastic service than snubbery, especially when there's beer involved!

The owner also made it a point to introduce himself to my parents and I (and promptly mistook me for an AU undergrad, dammit) and tell the story of Kitty O'Shea's. What a freakin' departure from Murphy's.

Great for lunch! Highly recommend the corned beef with saurkrat; skip the thousand island dressing, and ask for whiskey mustard instead. Fries were o.k. Service was great, and the place was very clean.

Alright, I'm giving Kitty O'Shea's 1 star for 2 reasons (otherwise I would give them ZERO):

    1. Good fish in the fish and chips (delicious crispy batter, not too greasy, fresh-tasting fish)

    2. The name is awesome in that it reminds me of an Irish madame running an old-time brothel

That being said, I'm not sure I will go back considering the AWFUL service.  We walk into the bar, which has a nice minimal "pubby" feel with a couple TVs for sports, and sit at a table.  Make eye contact with several bartenders/servers (there were three of them plus a man who I think was the owner sitting at the bar itself).

We wait.  We wait. We continue waiting. Can I add that the place is not crowded at all?  We wait 15 minutes and I finally walk up to the bartender, who appears to be shocked when I ask for a food menu and some drinks.  This characterizes the service for the rest of the dining experience.

However, it was obvious that two of the bartenders/servers were brand new as I watched them getting some impromptu register training and the place is new so I want to cut them some slack and give them a chance to pull it together (although it is the reincarnation of the much-liked Kitty O'Shea's of Arlington so they shouldn't still be green around the edges).
