$4 shots! Â $4 shots! Â $4 shots!
This was my first time going out in New Brunswick. Â And I have to say it wasn't nearly as dirty as I thought it would be. Â The guys were just as douchey as I expected them to be, but I didn't care because they were buying me...$4 shots.
Basically, everyone here had a grand-old drunken time and I don't know what more you could ask for. Â Ran into some people from high school and one of my friends found his twin. Â Good times all around. Â You can dance too (as long as you spread your arms really wide to make room, like I did).
Although fair warning: on a Friday night we were probably the oldest ones there (and we're all 22 and 23).
If you want a bar with a dance floor, this is the place to go. It's not necessarily a "dance floor," but usually you go to the back of the bar if you want to dance. If you just want to talk with a couple of friends, it's better to stay closer to the front.
$2 Tuesdays are awesome, and that's really it. Service is okay; not anything to brag about. Also, they started using plastic, disposable shot glasses, instead of actual shot glasses now. That BLOWS. It was really the only reason I preferred Knight Club over Golden Rail. The plastic disposable shot glasses are half the size of an actual shot glass, so you're really losing out. I was happy to see that KC wasn't ripping off college students like Golden Rail was, but I was wrong.
If you like plain beer or you're a poor college student, I suggest getting $2 Miller Lites. They're $1 if you go on Mondays. Otherwise, I don't think the drink prices are worth it, unless you come here on $2 Tuesdays.
This is the last stop on the Easton Ave path....so what does that mean? Well quite simply one is already drunk when they arrive. I spent many nights at this establishment back in the day. The drinks are super cheap and the crowd is always very mixed. College bar for sure but a 25 year old can get away with a drink or two here as well. The bouncers, bar backs and bar tenders are on point here. Normally your community college, volunteer fireman types who have no issue snatching some drunk rowdy ass kid up and tossing them out.
This place gets beyond packed, like walk 15 feet and your ass gets grabbed three times packed. Â I never would see a line, I think they just let everyone in then when it gets way to crowded the DJ throws up "sweet Caroline" followed by any Bon Jovi jam which results in anyone darker than Derek Jeter heading to the nearest exit. Quite the crowd control strategy.
I have mixed reviews about this bar.
For one thing, it's a great atmosphere and I honestly believe it's the better bar at Rutgers in terms of price and entertainment. I like the fact that they're aren't places to sit down because it does encourage socializing with other random drunk people, which I love to do. And also drunk dancing. And drunk singing along with the DJ music. So this bar suits my needs at some level.
On the other hand, it's cramped as hell. The fact that they have that bottleneck portion of the room in the front is the main reason why people won't even bother going all the way to the back. You can literally drown in that small area. Hopefully they expand that soon. I would enjoy it more if there was more room to move around. Tip: find a spot for you and your friends and just stay there.
For now, it's the bar I'd rather go to at Rutgers than anywhere else.
You'll be miserable getting around this place.
If you go to Rutgers and you've taken a packed Rutgers bus before, then you will know how it feels to be inside this bar. On friday and saturday, no matter what, you will feel like you're mushing through a crowd, fighting your way just to get out. While there are separate bars from which to order from, you will still feel like you have to knock somebody out just to order a drink. And that's not the worst of it. These drinks may be cheap but the service is lackluster and the crowd is very bad. It's like the dumb/uneducated rutgers students all conglomerate here.
Dancing is impossible because everyones crammed against each other. Ordering drinks is a hassle and sometimes you have to wait outside in a line that's definitely not worth waiting. The only times I go here are because my friends force me to go in with them. It doesn't take long for me to convince them to leave because this place literally is not a great place to have a fun night out.
My advice to this establishment is to take care of that bottleneck narrow area next to the bathroom. It's awful, take care of that stat. To you guys, I would recommend to check this place out because it wasn't bad when I first checked it out but gradually got worse the longer I stayed and came back with friends.
Pros: Cheap drinks, lots of people, young crowd
Cons: Crowd isn't diverse, place gets packed a lot and you have a hard time getting around.
tl;dr- You'll be miserable getting around this place
The drinks are sooo cheap that whether or not you like the place, you are still coming back when you are a poor student. Â My return trip after graduating there were dollar Miller Lites and $2 mixed drinks.
Avoid the main bars and go to the side ones with the girl bartenders. Â They did a good job making the drinks. Â The guys at the main bar watered down the mixed drinks.
However the place is so crowded sometimes you can never reach the girls who know what they are doing. Â Its cramped like a party in a frat house basement in here. Â If you are in the back (that bartender was the best), it takes like 20 minutes to get to the front door on a Tuesday night. Â So have fun with that smokers. Â
Students (21+ of course): Get drunk here quick, then go elsewhere.
Another college bar on a street of college bars. I've been going here for years so I see the crowd fluctuate with all different types of people, different amounts of people, etc., so I will try to review on what has been consistent over the past three or so years.
Personally I can't stand the music, its a mixture of some of the bottom overplayed top 40 songs and typical jersey bar songs (Oh sweet caroline, bon jovi, etc.). The drinks are terrible quality, but very cheap in prices so it seems to bring a consistent crowd in (the majority of college students think CHEAP DRINKS instead of quality drinks, you can get way better for your money elsewhere).
I think it just is a matter of your personality and the type of crowd that seems to be going at the time to determine if you will have a good time here or not. Just remember it is a typical college student bar with people from the bottom of the barrel in it.
If you like to jump up and down to Sweet Caroline (Oh, oh, oh) remixed, you should go here.
.............since I fit that qualification, I have good times here hahaha. The music isn't an amazing selection but something about the general vibe is always enjoyable here. The drinks are inferior-quality but they're cheap and you don't go to college bars to enjoy the quality of the drinks, do you?
SWEEEEEEET CAROLINE. OH! OH! OH!
I don't think anyone's night ever starts at the Knight Club, but no matter how hard you try to avoid it, your night most likely will end here. Why? Well, there are a few reasons. One, it's towards the other end of Easton Ave away from most other bars and thus is a logical, linear ending point. Second, the drinks are super cheap. Third, one of the girls (or guys) in your group is inevitably going to want to dance once they get enough alcohol in them, and this club offers a decent sized dance floor (which is always packed). Lastly, there are a lot of guys and gals of questionable moral fortitude here, thus making the Knight Club an attractive option for some at 1AM.
Yup, it's a college dive bar/dance spot, but somehow it seems even trashier than most. Late in the night, it's impossible to move because of the sea of people, it often smells (and not like a field of wildflowers), and the urinals are way too high! (ok, that may be somewhat unrelated....but still an annoyance!). Nonetheless, after a long night of getting up to no good in downtown New Brunswick, your mind will always trick you into thinking that "it's not that bad" at the Knight Club. But believe me (and your sober brain) when I say that it is!
Typical college bar, with some drink specials during the week
I'm not gonna lie and pretend like I could write an in depth review of this place. It has music. You can dance. It has booze. Usually pretty crowded (read as jam packed), but I was usually shwasty faced by the time i got here, so it was good times.
But then again, I usually always have a good time. What can I say? My name's Carlos, and I like to party.
2.5 stars
I used to go to this bar a lot when I was in college. It was much better when the back was all open & you could dance. Over the past few years, they have renovated it so there's a second bar in the back with a small DJ booth. The music still seems to be okay, and it would probably be a better spot if they turned the light down in the back. Drinks are relatively cheap and the crowd is your typical college dive bar crowd.
Went here on a Thursday night before Easter long weekend. Â The club from the inside is nothing special. Â Dance floor is a good size and there are a lot of TVs showing sports so its easy to see how this place doubles as both a club and a sports bar. Â The music was definitely good but I wouldn't say it was anything special. Â The place was full and it was popping. Â It was also full of college chicks and plenty of hot ones too. Â Drinks were definitely cheap here - I paid $2.50 for a Miller Lite (that's one of their Thursday specials as of my review). Â Definitely recommend this place to people in the New Brunswick area! Â Rutgers kids, go there and have fun!
Review Source:I think one of the best bars in New Brunswick. Â always have some great drink specials, Â Bar staff are pretty cool, on busy nights its a bit tough to get to the bar but the bar is packed so its no biggie, just like any other crowded bar. Â
The Dj's are Pretty good They play mostly top 40 and THEY TAKE REQUESTS AND ACTUALLY PLAY THEM Â UNLIKE OTHER PLACES, Although I was told they can't play hip-hop and they have a sign in the DJ booth the DJ pointed too when I asked for Jay-Z. Â Hysterical !! Â But they can play anything else he told me.
I've been here A lot  I like it a lot usually no fights like those other bars.  The dance floor is big and if no room on the floor you can always dance up front too since it's sooo long.  I don't understand what is up the the other posters on here.  I have always found my friends and I get served no problem and my songs get played if we ask for them and now the DJ's see us and he just plays our songs without having to ask, but we still go up and say hi and ask for them.  Bartenders Tim, Lucas, and Michelle always recognize us and our drinks cold and mixed great.  We also get their early before the mad rush at midnight.
Tues & Thurs always have a DJ and awesome specials for drinks and Fri & Sat is great nights with only an hour of specials but you gotta get there early for them and the weekend DJs are totally rock out. Â Check it out you will not be disappointed you did!!
I was here pretty much every Tuesday and Thursday last semester 'cause they have awesome drink specials. Â $2 LITs on Tuesday and $3 LITs on Thursday, can't beat that. Â This semester, though, they've been putting way too much sour mix in, to the point where I can't enjoy the drink. Â Now when we go out we either order Miller Lites (still specials, but lame) or just go to another bar.
I took off one star partially for that reason, but mostly because on some nights the DJ can just be awful. Â Usually that's Saturdays. Â Whoever is in the booth plays the strangest mixes and not a thing worth dancing to.
Other than that, I really like Knight Club. Â Out of the bars on Easton, it's the largest, so there's plenty of room in the back to dance (which is what I go out to do.) Â There are a bunch of TVs, too, so you'll be able to see whatever is going on in sports anywhere in the bar as well. Â More often than not, Knight Club is a damn good time.
A. A staple at 1am...after doing Corner Tavern, Queens, Scarlet Pub
B. Easy to get smashed here due to low lighting and dirt-cheap beers
C. College bar nonsense
D. DJ...yes a DJ exists
E. Packed and path to bar non-existent at 1:30am
F. Easy pickins....if you are down with muffin tops
Ofcourse I will hit again (that's where the Easton Ave path leads to).
Knight club is fun for going out with friends to drink and dance. It's nothing special, just a room and a dj playing the top 40. Good drink prices... 1$ yuenglings and $2 LIT's some nights. Typical college place to dance and chill with people.
UGH, obnoxious when they play that country crap at the end of the night to get people out.
-Summary-
Note: 2.5 overall
Pros: Lots of TVs,
Cons: Overcrowded, filled with douches, not enough bartenders.
Ugh. Whenever meeting up with friends, and they suggested Knight Club, I rolled my eyes to myself. At the time I went here, it was the busiest bar on Easton, though I have no idea why. It always insanely cramped, smelly, and full of people you'd never want to speak to if you didn't have to. A sea of popped collars and average looking girls dressing like they were 10 pounds lighter then they actually were. I mean, its a divey college bar. It is what is it, though I don't think it does it that well (Go Olive Branch, much better.)
